Feb. 29, 2003

Annie and I are settling in well. She’s taken to this life more than I have, I think. Since we’re the only two that passed the training to be here, I keep thinking we’re supposed to be sticking together. I can’t help but feel like she’s somehow betraying me by getting promoted so quickly. At the same time, I’m happy for her. She won’t have to go through nearly as much hazing.

Today was long and hard. Lots of jokes about Private Rory being a bit too private. I guess it’s a crime to keep to myself? Tomorrow I’ll try and be more sociable. Maybe Annie will introduce me to the friends she’s made here.
