Let's talk about: Honeysuckle
Surprise led me to a cluster of Kantonian Honeysuckle plants yesterday so I figured I should talk a bit about them as a wild treat!
Now its important to know, not all honeysuckle are edible, but Kantonian Honeysuckle is one of those cases where its perfectly safe to drink nectar from (but DO NOT eat honeysuckle berries, they are not edible and can make you ill) While honeysuckle can't replace a good nutritional meal, they're very good as a sweets substitute should you encounter them in the wild.
Tumblr media
..However, I want to say that this is only a treat for trainers and grass type Pokemon like Gloom who produce nectar of their own. Pokemon like my buddy Mutt (Growlithe) and most mammal based mons will get very ill if they eat anything from the plant and in some cases it can even turn fatal. If your Pokemon ever accidentally ingest one of these plants, it is important to get to a Pokemon center straight away so the optimal treatment can be administered as quickly as possible.
Before consuming any kind of honeysuckle plant, I strongly encourage you to do your own research. Most honeysuckle are safe to eat, but its always better to be prepared when out and about foraging. Safety should always be the number one priority for both you and the environment!

//hey im just sending this ask in the hopes that you don't genuinely believe that people digging through trash is a morally objectionable thing. there are people in real life that have to do that in order to survive!
okay. i'm gonna try to leave this as professional as i can, y'all.
this whole post that blew up was a joke about how people always check trash cans in pokemon for items but to my knowledge there hasn't been an item in a trash can since the ss anne.
yes, in real life, people have to do that. there is no moral judgment to that. i will never fault anyone for doing what they have to to survive.
but pokemon is not real life. in pokemon, you walk into someone's house uninvited and they'll give you healing items, food, or a CD-ROM that teaches your pokemon the most powerful psychokinesis known to man.
pokemon is a game about community, love, and caring about others. there has to my knowledge never been any indication in the games that there is anyone who has to do that. the world of pokemon is an idealistic place where everyone cares about others and everyone helps others. the idea of someone being forced to dig through trash to survive is incompatible with the idea of a world where a passing ten-year-old can walk into someone's house and be given whatever cool items that person is giving out that day.
this is not a blog where i make commentary about real social ills. pokemon is not a world where children get beaten up for asking for food. pokemon is not a world where people are failed so commonly or completely. pokemon is a world of idealism where people can befriend their cool animal buddies and be certified as the best in the region at loving their cool animal buddies.
also sophora is a medical professional. the problem she has with digging through trash is not moral it is sanitary.
please stop assuming anything this blog says or does reflect my real stances on anything. please stop sending me ooc shit constantly assuming the worst possible faith read of anything sophora says. this blog is a writing exercise about a vet living in a silly little world that is extremely different from our own and has its own culture and ideas. i can usually ignore the ooc garbage i get and i will very likely not ever reply to this sort of thing again but i wanted to just set the record straight here.
