“Allow me to welcome you to Atlas Academy. As most of you already know, I am Major Cobalt Ymir- third and fourth year combat instructor for Atlas as well as your team’s advisor. During this orientation you are allowed to speak freely and ask the questions you need before we begin with your first assignment.”

“I have a question, Uncle Cobalt-” Violet, the shortest of the four, spoke up. She held her slight frame in the best kind of official-looking stance she could come up with.

“Major,” Cobalt corrects, “You now part of Atlas Academy and we hold ourselves to military standards. Who I am in relation to any of you holds no bearing outside of the fact that I am your team advisor and an officer. Cadet Cheshire, the same goes for you. The fact that I am your father’s friend means nothing here.”

“R-Right! I have a question, Major,” When Violet received the nod to continue, she did. “Is it true you asked for all four of us by name?”

“I did. This does go against usual convention but occasionally we scout our entrants ahead and form teams accordingly.”

“And you claim no special treatment? The fact that all but one of us knew who you were ahead of time would hint at something else, wouldn’t it?” Onyx stands more casually than the others, but with an air of proper manners. A wide smile never left his face.

“I have to agree with Onyx, sir.” Ivory stood a full head over everyone else and nearly a full two over Violet. Unlike the others she stood with perfect soldier-like attention. “Both of us know you through Onyx’s dad and… you’re that one’s uncle?” She nods to head to Violet, “And you asked for us specifically. Why?”

“That would be because I know you and your families- and they trust me to work you hard and without exception.” Cobalt says in a stern official tone. “None of you will coast through this academy on name or privilege under my watch!”

“What’s that mean?” Lapis asks, finally opening his mouth to speak to Ivory. For such a large built guy, he was speaking plainly and quietly.

“Really? You’ve never heard the name ‘Cheshire’ before? Hamelin, was it?” Onyx gives a slightly haughty glance to the bulkier student.

“You mean that investment firm? The one founded by that former huntsmen?”

“That’s the one,” Ivory explains, “That former huntsmen is Onyx’s father and he’s an old friend of the Major. Mine works for the company. Onyx and I have known each other basically all our lives.”

“Uh huh…” Lapis says dully before turning to Violet. “What about you?”

“You’ll see…” Violet responds, deflating her shoulders and flicking her eyes to Lapis, then looking up to actually meet his face. “How about you?”

“That’s a good question, actually.” Lapis says, staring right at the Major with a demanding intent. “I don’t have any convenient friends or relatives in the army.”

“You are a very special case, Cadet Hamelin. Under normal circumstances students much finish a training school or receive private tutoring to become ready for the academies. You managed to pass our entrance exams without that. While not unheard of it is exceedingly rare. Rest assured the academy will be watching your progress closely.”

“Just don’t make it too close. I don’t plan on joining the army.”

“Whatever you all choose to do after graduation is your choice. However, starting today you are under my direct supervision. Beacon Academy has a tradition of launching their first year students into the Emerald Forest to test whether they have what it takes to survive being a huntsmen. We're going to do something similar. Gather your things and get some rest. Tomorrow you will embark on your first training mission as a team. Prove to me my faith in your capabilities is not misplaced.”

#7 - Rainwing chapter

Ah yes, the Rainwings, a.k.a. "the ones where my friends will disown me if I get them wrong". I ended up making some changes here; particularly with Coconut, who is depicted as green in the graphic novels but described as lavender in the books. I tried to do something with elements from both. This had a bit of a knock-on effect on Siamang, because having two purples in the set seemed a bit lame for a group that's supposed to be really vibrant and colorful, so I went a bit off-script there. This is the result; I hope it is palatable.

Also, that makes 36. 36 dragons.

Now. Whereas Simon tries to be more subtle with his obsession with the plush of your skin, John makes it well known that he finds curves maddeningly sexy.

He'll spend hours scouring through stores, buying up clothes he knows will cling to your skin. Bodycon dresses, tight shirts and ridiculously short mini skirts, he snaps them up and deposits them on your bed, settling himself on the mattress as you gingerly take the bags and carry them into the bathroom.

With every outfit, the soft cobalt of his eyes is replaced with onyx as he drinks you in with a heady gaze. Muttered curses will spill from his bitten-red lips, guttural approval heavy with lust.

"Ain't you a sight for sore eyes, eh? Could eat you right up, sweetheart, you 'ave no idea."

When you walk out in a short, black bodycon dress, your eyes averted, your hands subtly snaking across the round of your stomach, he wastes little time tearing himself off the bed and stalking towards you, ripping your hands from your lower torso and pinning them above your head on the wall behind you; trapping you between the cool drywall, and the hard muscles of his torso, overtly aware of the large bulge that presses into the plush of your thigh. A low growl ringing through every syllable that falls from his throat, clouding your mind with a thick smog of arousal as he gazes down at you with a hunger that sets your skin ablaze.

"Don't you ever hide from me, pet. Fuckin' beautiful, too gorgeous not to show off. Now, how about I show you just how much I love this fuckin' perfect body of yours, hm?"

“I want to use specific names for colours/shades but I don’t know many!” Hahaha sakira has got you! If you want to add colour to the objects or stuff in your writing you shouldn’t just write it like this

“Her dress was red” “His eyes were purple”

That makes your writing bland, it dumbs down the readers imagination during reading. Instead describe the colour like this

“Her dress was like a cup of Rooibos tea under a sunlit day”

“His eyes could be compared to that of a raven’s deep violet eyes”

(tip: amethyst is an overused word, there’s a list of other purple words below you should check out)

You can describe colours using objects because it will give shape to the sentence but don’t always go too detailed. If you make one sentence with a lot of adjectives and everything then don’t over use it in the other sentence that’s is.

But remember to use a simile like “as” or “like” if you do use objects.

I already wrote “Her dress was like a cup of Rooibos tea under a sunlit day” so next time when I mention the dress’s colour again I am going to write something like this

“Her garnet dress flowed in the wind”

Why? Because simple sentenced always enchance the writing and gives reader a feeling.

She nudged open the front door with her hip, keys hanging from her mouth while both her hands carried boxes, the sight that greeted her was barren, or as empty as a fully furnished floor could be, not a single picture frame or pillow, no trinkets or little touches, barren. That would definitely not do.

A door on the other side of the room as open, walking in, there was only a simple double bed and an oak desk and dresser In the room, the person she was now sharing this apartment with was apparently not a designer, there wasn’t even curtains covering the windows, disgraceful.

It seemed Gwyn had a lot of redecorating to do, whether the other inhabitant of this household appreciated it or not.

Three hours later and she was finished, blue bedding and rug, and cobalt curtains—which her friends had insisted she pack even though she had stated that there would be no need of them—remind her to listen to her friends more often. Gwyn had no idea what she would do without them. Speaking of, she placed a photo frame of them on her desk, all three of them wearing goofy smiles, Emerie’s glasses slightly askew and Nesta’s braces shining with her every smile.

She heard the front door freak open and decided to investigate, walking into the room, Gwyn came face to face with single-handedly the most beautiful man she had ever seen, his whiskey eyes flicking to her instantly, his fluffy onyx hair—that she oh so wanted to run her fingers through—strewn about. The man frowned. Glaring at her, what was that about? “Can you move? My bedroom is in that direction,” he said flatly, how rude, she crosses her arms and glared straight back at him, he scowled, she smirked. Two could play that game.

He seemed to realise she wasn’t giving up so he just sighed and walked around her, Gwyn did not notice that his scent was of Night chilled mist and Cedar and leather, not at all, neither did she notice that he walked with a unnatural grace or that tattoos peaked out from the sleeves of his very tight black shirt.

His shoulder bumped into hers as he walked past, she knew he did it on purpose, to see how riled up she could get from the simplest thing, “asshole,” she muttered, though she couldn’t be certain, Gwyn swore she saw him smiling, his tired eyes lighting up as he entered his room, closing the door surprisingly softly.

Gwyn woke up to the sounds of the kitchen, clinking of glass, crackling of the stove, draws opening, ect. She groaned as she got up. Nearly falling out of the bed onto the floor, she sat there for a moment before the delicious smell of food flooded her senses, she slid into her slippers and padded to the kitchen, nearly slipping when she beheld the sight.

There he was, shirtless, cooking pancakes and squeezing oranges into juice, and holy Mother— his muscles were gorgeous, he looked like a god made man, for a second. She thought she was drooling. Especially when those whiskey eyes landed on hers, she could almost make out specs of green in them but she would have to get closer— “what?” He said, oh shit, did she say those embarrassing things out loud? He looked positively delicious but that didn’t mean she wanted to tell him that.

He was staring at her incredulously and she had half the mind to look somewhere else, suddenly finding the espresso machine to be far more interesting, was she blushing? Surely she was beet red by now, Gwyn wanted to shrivel up and die from the way he was still staring at her, perhaps if she prayed enough to the Mother a hole would open up in the floor and it would swallow her up. But that was wishful thinking.

He seemed to realise he was staring and turned around, flipping the pancakes, she grabbed two plates and glasses before pouring the juice into the cups, Azriel putting all the food onto their respective plates before flicking off the stove and leading her to the horribly bland table.

Gwyn didn’t dare make eye contact with her roommate as she uttered out a ‘thank you’ and started pouring maple syrup onto her food.

They finished breakfast in silence and then left, Azriel seemingly going to work and her a nearby cafe to study.

Yawning, she made her way back to the apartment, her keys jingling, she unlocked the door, immediately met with the sounds of a football game coming from the Tv and the sound of very-male laughter along with the clinking of drinks, she wandered over to the noise, immediately spotting Azriel sipping from a Beer as he shouldered the guy next to him, the very handsome guy with long black hair tied into a bun with a subtle stubble lining his jaw. Next to him. Was another gorgeous guy, this one more elegant than rugged, his short black hair combed back, wearing a slightly rumpled suit.

She met eyes with Azriel, his expression immediately changing into a cringe at the attention, the other men didn’t seem to notice her presence as they yelled at the Tv, but he did, Azriel seemed to always do that, he got up, dusting off chip crumbs from his pants before standing in front of her.

He nodded his head in the direction of her room and didn’t say anything as they made their way to the room, once inside, he closed the door, turning to her, “I’m sorry,” he started, “I should have told you people were coming over,” sorry? What on earth could he be sorry for? “It’s fine, Azriel. Really, it didn’t bother me at all, you’re allowed to have company,” she said softly, his expression was still pained but lightened ever so slightly. “I—I’ve had a lot of a roommates before all I don’t know why but they all had something against me, yelling at me for the smallest things, I kinda stuck with me, y’know?” She nodded her head again. Who could ever do such a thing? And Azriel seemed like such a sweetheart. . .

She grabbed his hand and squeezed it tightly, “don’t worry about it, go, be with your friends,” she said, squeezing his hand once more for emphasis, he gulped, looking down at their hands, he didn’t say anything more before walking out of the room, leaving her with her own wondering thoughts.

1. BLOOD - Does everyone bleed the same colour? If not, why not?

The world is run by 3 Major Races! Two are organic, one is mechanic.

In order of hierarchy: Crystalline, Human, and Robot.

2. PEPPER - What is the deadliest poison?

I was wondering what to put for this one before realising there is essentially a 'poison' a strong enough crystalline may give someone manually.

Medusa Rot, or Crystalline Petrification.

It's given by an aggravated spike- this can be purposeful to attack someone or even accidental if the attacker is panicked/agitated enough, and can't control their powers.

Considering how nobles and strong crystallines gave dwindled over the years, and such harsh powers haven't been needed- it's incredibly under-researcved, like an extinct dissease.

So it's not likely the victim or the attacker know.

A timeline of it's affects: Body horror/Medical horror warning?

It affects organic species. However if given to a robot, it's likely it will just fight it's way through it and clog up their systems with crystal growth, giving a relatively similar affect that's got a slightly higher survival chance.

3. CANDY - How do they treat children?

This very much depends on the household!

Though in most houses, Children are raised religious relative to area. Most commonly, Lunnox (In-universe religion of worship of the moon, enforced by the Cobalt Empire which rules the majority of the world and is the largest power.)

If a child is born to a Human and Crystalline, it's likely to be abandoned or orphaned, due to how taboo half-breeds are. The child will appear entirely human, other than perhaps some odd colouring. (Coloured hair, eyes, birthmarks.)

If a halfbred child is kept, the crystalline is almost definite to lose any higher status, and the human is likely to he rejected by peers also. Most halfbreds will just say they're human for slightly better treatment.

Robot children are rare-

Robots are essentially dead souls made posses a robot host body, most likely with their memories gone to function as some sort of labour or built for a purpose.

So if a child is a robot, it's more likely they come from a wealthy family, and after dying or getting sick too soon, was rebuilt as a robot- and kept their memories. This can be controversial. Some consider it mutilation or depriving a child of their original race, some consider it fair to let a child live on.

Noble crystalline children?

Uhhhhhh. yeah.

4. BLUSH - What is their view on sex?

Sex, due to the empire being very conservative religious in it's ways, is a taboo thing to discuss.

It's not entirely medieval though, in an 'everyone be celibate' way. Its moreso taboo to discuss in places such as work or in front of elders and superiors- most adults and teens in the modern day will brag about it, or crack sex jokes and stuff like that, similar to your average modern day society. It's still a rather gossipy subject though.

Red used to be an aerial bomber, until one day he was shot clean out of the sky. His wing was so crippled, he had to tear it off himself! Given a weak prosthetic claw to humiliate him, he is doomed never to fly again. And he wants REVENGE...

Irratino is lying on the grass. He’s stiff as a board, staring into the gray sky, slowly freezing in the bitter cold. No, it’s still summer. But anyway.

IRRATINO: [in his head] What would Logico do… what would… Logico do… He would- he would solve murders until he found the answer. He would - yeah, he would solve a trail of murders that led to the answer he needed! IRRATINO: [jumps up] [out loud] I’M going to solve murders using DEDUCTIVE LOGIC! 

A bunch of randos walking by laugh very loudly at him. But Irratino knows he can do it. He practically solves all the murders anyway with his fortune-telling clues, right? And with that COMBINED with his new logic skills he is definitely magically going to gain, he’ll be unstoppable. It’s goat time!

The first thing Irratino has to do is find out where that blood came from. So he collects a bit of blood from his friends and foes, like the mentally stable person he is. And he brings them all to Dr. Crimson. 

She gives the DNA readings for all of them. But Irratino could only collect from so many people before there were legal issues, and the mystery sample doesn’t match any of them. But this will probably still help him on his mission. The goat lord is no longer hopeless. He is GOING to rescue Logico!

IRRATINO: I’M COMING, LOGICOOOO0000000000OO

The first place he goes to is the PRL. This is totally what Logico would do.

IRRATINO: GUYS, GUYS!! LOGICO IS MISSING!!! SEASHELL: Oh. Really? Then who’s going to solve this murder? IRRATINO: I’M going to solve the murder. ONYX: But Mr. President, doesn’t that usually contain… logic? IRRATINO: I’m covering for both of us this season. Don’t doubt my abilities!... So, what are you up to? COBALT: We are testing each other’s psychic abilities. IRRATINO: Awesome! [slaps himself] No. It’s murder time.

First, Irratino checks the laboratory. He looks VERY closely at everything, so he can see fingerprints and stuff. Then he thinks. Logico really NEVER uses fingerprint identification? That seems like it would be a LOGICAL thing to do...

COBALT: I smell something superior. Is that BLOOD you’re carrying in your purse? IRRATINO: HEY! It’s not a purse! This is a man’s bag!

Back outside, the Crystal Goddess is attempting to pick up Onyx with her mind, and failing.

ONYX: Okay, I think we’re done now. Thanks for lending me ‘Re-dead-able’ by ‘ghosts’, Dr. Seashell. It’s a fascinating read. SEASHELL: Isn’t it? I LOVE reading things by dead people. 

Mf is standing in a hole for no apparent reason.

IRRATINO: Why are you standing in a hole? SEASHELL: I’m doing aura readings. Want one? IRRATINO: Uh… SEASHELL: BOOP! Your aura is… okay, I guess.

Irratino is getting really frustrated. These investigations are so obnoxious! How does Logico deal with it every day? But he remembers who he’s doing this for. And just when he does, he gets a voicemail - FROM LOGICO!! He’s alive! 

LOGICO: Hey, Irratino. It’s me. Oh! You know that… but… Anyway, apparently I’ve been detained by the Free Drakonians. They want to negotiate some kind of prisoner exchange. Call me when you get this. Please. OH! I just read an article about the Psychic Research Laboratory, and they always put a person in a control group in an actual laboratory. I don’t know what that means, but it mentions your favorite place, so I thought you’d get a kick out of it. It’s almost like I’m giving you clues now! This is so silly! Um… call me when you get this.

Irratino tries to call right away. But the signal won’t reach. He's so relieved his little detective is okay. But he needs to find him!!

Irratino manages to solve his first solo murder. It was the ridiculous Crystal Goddess! 

GODDESS: NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! I AM NOT THE KILLER! BUT I DO HAVE TELEKINESIS. AND TO PROVE IT… I AM GOING TO KILL YOU WITH MY MIND!!!

She clutches her forehead and makes straining noises.

IRRATINO: …Dude!

He leaves. He has to get to Drakonia!

It sucks that Logico was kidnapped, but I do love Irratino and writing him trying to solve murders by himself is quite entertaining. Who would have thought I have an insane obsession with Irratino??
