Having a past life effects a lot of my daily life.
I don't want to reveal too much about who I used to be, I've seen people be harassed for revealing. I'll imply, and if you guess right - well done, I suppose...? yes yes good job !
I think I'll talk about fears in this post.
I had a dog in my past life - multiple dogs, actually... I started having dreams about them from a relatively young age, and, to an extent, memories- but most of my memories returned when I was roughly 13-17, and I'm still finding out more now, but I feel I have a good grasp on my past.
I developed a fear of dogs at a young age. It was mild - but worsened with age. It was only specific breeds, namely German Shepherds and Labradors.
I've begun to love them again by now. Most of that healing I can accredit to remembering my past for and all of the nicer memories with my pets. I had other pets too but that isn't too relevant...

This response is particularly surprising to me because I was in a personal call with a Tumblr staff member recently as part of their research and specifically brought up transmisogyny as a major, pervasive, and obvious issue to everyone on the site. I cited:
general harassment
lack of action on reports of TERFs (and the high bar required to get TERFs banned or their posts removed)
the tag fiasco @zingring had to get involved in because Automattic imported a list of tags to ban with obvious transmisogynistic bias (some tags are still affected, and the system overall has not been meaningfully changed)
mass reporting campaigns by TERFs (I did not say predstrogen's username IIRC, but I was referring to the mass reporting of her transition timeline and transfem blogs generally being snap-deleted over mass reports)
trans women I know with phones full of screenshots of TERFs and "reichblr" blogs they know reporting is ineffective against
...and the staff member I spoke to, who, for the record, seemed completely genuine, told me not only that they were very sorry about this but that (paraphrased) "Tumblr is aware of the moderation issues and transmisogyny on the platform" and they were working on it. They also told me to feel free to reach out in the future, so I did, on Sunday, February 18th, when all we had was the information that predstrogen had been banned "for sexually explicit content" and while TERFs were sending anonymous messages slandering her en masse. They have not responded, likely because by the time USAmerican Presidents' Day Weekend was over, Matt had made his series of posts. I imagine at this point nobody is allowed to comment directly.
But that still leaves a question: if staff members are personally telling transgender users that Tumblr was aware of transmisogynist moderation, but the CEO claims improving moderation "wasn't on the roadmap"-- what exactly am I meant to take from that?
Tumblr media
matt decided to not make this post rebloggable so here's a helpful post for anybody who needs it
hope i don't get banned for this
