(I’m so sorry I accidentally deleted this and had to repost it *inserts black moon face as resignation* Luckily I still had a backup copy of the post :D Anyways here you go~)
Another self-indulgent headcanon~ I will probably write more for other characters later, but for now these are the only ones I can think of ^^’’
How BSD characters smell like
[Dazai]
- The faint fragrant smell of sake (Japanese wine) coupled with stale bandages. There's also an undertone of whatever cologne he decided to use that day. Sometimes, it's the sharp smell of mint. Sometimes, it's a slight lemon. However, only when you catch him just after he sprays it on can you actually smell the cologne, because the man constantly bounces around. After a long day at work, he probably just smells of sweat because of his bandages.
- Sometimes, there's also the smell of gunpowder hanging on him. When you ask him about it, he'll probably lie and said he tried to shoot himself when he was actually in a mission.
[Akutagawa]
- Akutagawa doesn't give a flying fuck to his appearance in general, so naturally he wouldn't care much about how he smells either. Luckily for him, his natural body smell is somewhat fresh and sharp, sort of like the ocean.
- At first, because his skin gets dry very easily during the winter months, he decides to use whatever moisturizer on hand to prevent his skin from cracking apart. Typically, whatever's lying around is usually Gin's, so there was a period of time when he smelled like honeysuckle and lavender.
- When people started talking, he got pissed and stopped using his sister's lotion. Luckily, Higuchi bought him something that is similar to Dazai's cologne, with the undertone of mint and eucalyptus leaves, so he grudgingly put that on.
[Chuuya]
- Chuuya always smells of leather and wine. It doesn't matter what cologne he puts on; the moment you sense the whiff of leather and wine, you would immediately know it's him. Leather, because of his clothes, and wine, because he consumes a lot of it.
- His cologne has a woody smell to it. Sandalwood, cedar, or some kind of musky smell. It reminds you of vintage bars, completed with expensive wooden furniture. It's wonderfully decadent, even if he insists it isn't.
[Ranpo]
- The man consumes sweets like it's his fuel to life, so expect him to have a slight sweetly sick smell hanging on him at all times. The sweetness isn't something overpowering like women's perfume though; it's quite natural, and is somewhat inviting.
- He doesn't put on cologne, and so whatever 'unnatural' smells that you know isn't from his sweets or body scent usually comes from his shampoo or body wash. Ranpo often uses shampoo that's 'clean-smelling', or at most something that smells of something light like grass. It oftens go unnoticed, so most of the time he smells of whatever sweet he decided to binge-eat that day.
[Odasaku]
- He always has a bookish smell to him. You know, the smell of old pages, but also the distinctive smell only new books have.
- There's a slight undertone of vanilla or lavender, because his cologne has that floral smell laced into it. Despite being a man, he actually doesn't mind putting these smells on his body. Rather, he claims that it helps chase away the smell of death. Also, even if he doesn't smoke, a faint cigarette smell also hangs around him. He smells of coffee as well, though not always.
- Odasaku's smell will probably remind you of old bookshops or subtle coffee shops, which is more often than not where he hangs around when he has free time and doesn't visit the children.
[Fukuzawa]
- Being the traditional man he is, Fukuzawa would probably forgo cologne. Despite that, he always has the smell of green tea and fresh tatami mats hanging around him. It's a combination which is relaxing, but also refreshing at the same time.
- On some occasions, if he practices calligraphy during the middle of the day, he smells of ink, though only very faintly. If you notice hard enough, you'll also sense the smell of cat on him, though only a very tiny whiff can be noticed.
