I watched Princess Jellyfish back in 2015 I think. Immediately I fell in love with Kuranosuke, and dreamed of making all of his crossdressing outfits. I loved the design of the jellyfish dress the most. My favorite animal is the jellyfish, and the whole episode on the group making the dress for the fashion show was hilarious. I chose to make this dress specifically because I thought, "hey if it looks like a first timer's outfit that's okay! Canonically this outfit was created by amateurs!"
I made two versions of the jellyfish dress; my first one was flimsy cotton broadcloth which had no definite shape. I'm still super proud of it though! I put a lot of heart and soul into it, and it looks amazing for it being my first time making a dress and creating my own patterns!
The version I wore to NDK was much flashier and better done. The dress is actually two pieces; the top and the skirt. The top is made of three layers; polysatin, stabilizer, and a thin backing of cotton. It's 80% hand stitching so every stitch is hidden, and all of the connection between each layer is kept inside the top. The skirt is an adorned with 100+ hand glued pearls. My two very sweet friends actually helped me glue them all on the night before the convention!
The response to my Princess Jellyfish at NDK was pretty good. I had a lot of fun making the costume, and twirling and snapping my fan out for photos during NDK. I participated in the cosplay competition. I didn't win, but I enjoyed meeting people and watching others in the competition. I think people really liked how amazingly fluffy the skirt is! There are three petticoats and a tutu to help it create that perfect jellyfish shape.
I think the best reaction to my jellyfish outfit has honestly been how excited people are to see the outfit. It's not a well known anime, so I love it when people recognize the character. One of my favorite moments with Jellyfish is when I wore it to Momocon. I was standing in the hallway when I spotted this magnificent Grell cosplayer across the room. I yelled "Grell! I love you!" and actually ran towards them in my heels! We chatted for a while and I attended their Black Butler Trivia Panel. During this panel, I had to try and out-catwalk Grell. I lost, but it was a lot of fun teasing and flirting with the panel members (audience participation was encouraged!)
For me cosplay has impacted my life in so many different ways, it's hard to figure out what my life would be like without it. Through cosplay I have made close friends who are basically family to me. It has helped me with self-confidence, and encouraged me to do new things! Before Princess Jellyfish I had almost never sewn- now I have not only sewn but also worked with EVA craft foam, wefted wigs, and am learning all about body paint!
I want readers to know that cosplay is not something to be scared of, it's not a competition between cosplayers, and most of all, that cosplay is for everyone! Whether someone prefers buying cosplays or hand stitching them, cosplay is for fun. Everyone starts somewhere small, and everyone is entitled to having a good time with their costume. So go out and build the dream costume you've always dreamed of; ask cosplayers for their photos! (We love taking photos with people!) And have fun!

Comic Girls - Episode 05
It’s kind of rude to just claim the one working bathroom for two hours for a shower without checking with anyone first, right? That’s not just me? I’m not going crazy here?
Anyways anime. Comic Girls, episode 05! Here we GO!
-We begin with a gorgeous ocean, and clear blue skies…Is it a beach episode? It’s the girls on a boat! Koyume has dragged them all here for summer fun! This may be difficult, considering the others are what you might call indoorsy.
-Opening!
-To the beach proper! Koyume is super enthusiastic about her bikini! Look, look, everyone! Oh they’re looking. They can’t stop looking. I think you broke Kaos.
-…Koyume please stop turning the entire beach gay. You’re causing a ruckus.
-Also the other three didn’t bring swimsuits because…Well…Like I said, they’re indoorsy types. Do you know what Kaos’s typical summer memory is? Closing the blinds tighter so the room stays darker and cooler, aiming a fan directly at her face, and drawing all day. Fine, they’ll go rent swimsuits!
-As ever, Kaos ends up looking small and innocent and adorable. While Tsubasa boldly goes for a tiny bikini with zero shame and shows off her muscles! Such bold muscles! Okay, so what’s Ruki going to wear? Ruki doesn’t want to. They already picked out your swimsuit, go go go. …I think she pulled a runner. Actually she just couldn’t dare come out, even though Kaos likes what she sees.
-Okay, out to the beach!
-Why are all three of you just sitting there.
-Well, in order: Tsubasa thinks those cliffs would make for a great background for an epic battle. Ruki is seeing all these swimsuited couples and getting ideas for a beach chapter. And Kaos just doesn’t want to go anywhere near that much water. I told you, they’re indoorsy types. So Koyume finally abandons them…
-And makes new beach friends out by the water! It’s her intense power. As opposed to Kaos’s ability to be a small Disney princess. She’s summoned a small crab army. Crabs, attack the interlopers stealing their Koyume away! …No? Kaos you need to learn to use your power for evil.
-But soon enough they’ve got Kaos out in the water with an inner tube, and…Kaos that’s not love you’re feeling, that’s a jellyfish stinging your foot. The sea has claimed her for its own! And finally they even get Tsubasa and Ruki to ditch the sketchbooks and come have fun in the water. Fun like playing with a beach ball…Which leads to Ruki despairing over her lack of, shall we say, bounce. And when the others try to comfort her, now she’s just surrounded by bounce. Yes. Bounce.
-Also Kaos is getting thirsty. Thirsty enough that she eats a beach ball to the face. But yes, they get up to all kinds of fun! Playing in the water, playing in the sand, playing with water guns, eating frozen treats…Until finally, the sun is low in the sky, and it’s a wonderful, gorgeous view. The clear warm sky, the glow on the water, the sound of Ruki’s sketchbook being carried away by the tide…Wait what was that last part???
-Finally it’s back to the dorm, where as soon as Tsubasa and Kaos get back…It’s a dark room and some vintage gaming action, as the others are out shopping. Tsubasa gave no fucks, and Kaos was just plain scared of going to fancy fashionable places. Speaking of, cut over to Ruki and Koyume, who are trying stuff on, and Ruki doesn’t much like wearing sailor outfits herself…But she certainly enjoys watching another girl strip out of one. God dammit Ruki, stop saying the quiet part loud. Even the employee heard it.
-But okay, fancy clothes bought, and Ruki’s super enjoying having someone to hang out with that actually has fucks to give. They should go get some fancy pasta! Cut back to Kaos and Tsubasa, who are eating instant ramen in the dark bedroom. The contrast is…shall we say…profound. Then it’s back to Ruki and Koyume, who have their fancy pasta…As a couple enjoys a fancy drink together with two straws. …I think that’s the first time we’ve actually seen a guy the entire show so far, outside of manga sketches.
-And it has Koyume realizing her difficulties of getting anywhere in her shoujo manga dreams without enough experience…Ruki tries to perk her up by talking about her own success, but, well, that also means admitting she has never laid with anyone. Or even gone out with anyone. DESPAIR. And at the same time, she’s so thinly stretched that trying to have a relationship between school, manga work, and basic human existence…There’s no more room left.
-But you, Koyume, you might just be able to pull it off! Is there anyone you like?
-BIG SPLASH IMAGE OF TSUBASA IN CASE YOU DIDN’T GET IT YET
-S-She, um, that’s, she doesn’t know any…You know Tsubasa pretty well by now, Ruki thought. And then all of Koyume’s passions just start spilling out. Just go on a damn date with her you dork. …So Koyume’s panicking now.
-Episode 05: Amisawa-san, Do You Cosplay?
-And we’re back! They’re waiting for the train, and Koyume’s trying to be all “but I can’t love girls, I’m a girl!” Koyume, again, let me introduce you to the hot new trend of yuri. It’s like all the shoujo manga you admire, and the erotic manga Ruki writes, but instead of the guy, it’s another girl. Also, Tsubasa’s been getting asked out by girls ever since middle school. She’s about as dense about it as a neutron star, but…
-Also Koyume’s idea of a date with Tsubasa is being lost in a terrifying cave when the noble hero in her cosplay cape shows up to save her. I mean everyone’s into something…
-Back at the dorm, Tsubasa and Kaos are still playing fighting games. Tsubasa is letting out her chuuni side…When Tsubasa is attacked by Nyaos long enough to lose the round! And that turns into an argument which turns into wrassling which turns into OH GOD THE DOOR’S BEEN OPENED IT’S TOO BRIGHT yeah so the others are back.
-And now Ruki has to shove Koyume in there. Go on, do it. But Koyume panics. Again. …Cue the landlady, with two tickets to the amusement park that expire, tomorrow! Whatever will she do? Oh, if onl—KOYUME WILL TAKE THEM wait what does she do now? …You really have no self control, do you, Koyume.
-To the park! After Ruki’s slick way of backing out of the offer, and Kaos’s…Well…She tried. Give her a pat on the head for effort, the little moeblob. Anyways the point is Koyume and Tsubasa are here on a d-d-d-d-d-dato, and Koyume doesn’t know what to dooooo. Oh god this poor girl. …Also NATURALLY Ruki and Kaos are secretly here to observe and possibly coach if need be. They will get these two together if it kills them! (Also good lord how much did the landlady spend on getting everyone into this damn amusement park just for some young love to bloom?)
-Soon, Tsubasa is treating Koyume to ice cream. And a cute ear headband. And a stuffed animal. And snacks. Name whatever you want, and she’ll make it happen! Um, er, how about just a nice picture of that mascot character? TSUBASA WILL TAKE HIM DOWN WITH ALL OF HER MANLY MIGHT
-Tsubasa
-Tsubasa that’s not how it works
-That’s not how anything works
-Tsubasa no
-Tsubasa yes. That poor mascot worker clearly got punched at least once.
-But what now? Now, Koyume’s able to relax a little and take the lead as she loves this place…But where will they go? The haunted house? A thrill ride? Or…That’s a terrifying rollercoaster. Tsubasa quietly clings to Koyume’s sleeve. I know the fear of loop-de-loops, Tsu—
-SUDDENLY LANDLADY
-SHE WAS HERE THE WHOLE TIME
-HERE TO OBSERVE THE DATE
-Anyways Tsubasa has a panic, Ruki finds she loves rollercoasters when they go on after the pair to observe, and Kaos just breaks. I’m afraid we need to replace her with a new one. Oh hey, there’s a cosplay area! Complete with someone dressed up like Tsubasa’s protagonist! Really well, too. They should totally get a picture! And the dark hero…Panics and flees?
-…Wait. Hold on a tic. I need to roll back. Timestamp 17:22, aaaand comedic reversal of the video footage go go go Okay, back to timestamp 12:45. The flashback to when Tsubasa was asked out back then! Hrm, short bob hair, more black than brown…Okay, got what I needed. Forward MARCH!
-Back to the present where the dark hero takes off her wig and it’s…Bright brown hair tied back. Okay, so it’s not the girl from the confession, which was my first thought. That whole bit I just did was pointless. Pointlessssssss.
-Especially when the landlady comes up and recognizes Miharu and Mayu…And oh. Oh. It’s two of the girls’ editors, isn’t it. Yep Mayu there, in the fancy dress, is also known as Amisawa-san, Kaos’s editor. And she just fuckin’ OWNS IT when she has nowhere else to go. I suppose that’s all you can do.
-Back to Tsubasa and Koyume. When Mayu has been shanghai’d into the observation effort…As Tsubasa and Koyume end up having a real talk, and Tsubasa totally expected Koyume would have a boyfriend. Look how cute you are, anyone would totally want you! She could find someone for you right now! But Koyume…There’s only one person Koyume wants…Come on, Tsubasa. Get it. Get what’s going on. Understand what this dear bishoujo in front of you wants you stupid idiot!
-Nope, it’s their turn on the ferris wheel and they both just fall back into easy patterns. YOU STUPID IDIOTS. Of course, now they’re up in the middle of the air on their own in a tiny carriage, the entire world shrinking to just them…Koyume, you love her just accept it already you stupid dork. But, when the conversation turns to manga, all of the doubts that Koyume pushes down with her sparkly genki attitude just come spilling out. The fear that she’ll never make it, that all of her effort is for naught, that she’s doomed to failure…
-And then Tsubasa reaches out, takes her hand, and just keep moving forward. You already have so much fun drawing, and that’s all that really matters. Just keep moving forward. She’ll be waiting for you on the other side, however long it takes…
-So by the time they come back down they’re talking about how unlike herself Koyume was and the others hear it and DID YOU FINALLY CONFESS?! Wait have you four been there the entire ti—LANDLADY DEMANDS YOUTHFUL LESBIAN ROMANCE Also by the time they all leave, Kaos is feeling all unsure again and finally Mayu has to haul her up and learn from your friends how to be confident in yourself you stupid moeblob. abababababa
-Credits!
-Aftercredits? Wait…That’s a terrifying ghost at the haunted house. Like a Ringu girl. And she’s…Crying?
Dammit Koyume, you were so close. Well, maybe next time. Unless we end up learning more about the lives of the adults around these four stupid idiots. That’s possible too. Or…What the hell was with that after-credits scene…? …We’ll figure it out next time, in episode SIX of Comic Girls! Wait for it!

Bookshelf Briefs 6/25/18
Astra: Lost in Space, Vol. 3 | By Kenta Shinohara | Viz Media – Two things are the most notable about this volume of Astra, which otherwise sees our heroes going to more alien worlds and slowly firming up into the obvious romantic couples. The first is the big reveal that Luca is intersex, which comes out after a confrontation with Ulgar over Luca’s father, the senator. We’ve seen intersex characters in manga before, but it doesn’t usually hit Jump titles. The other reveal is back with the parents discussing their kids, who have now been missing for a month. It’s clear that there is some sort of big conspiracy going on here. That said, I’m not sure I’d really be continuing with this if I didn’t know the next volume was the last. I look forward to it ending, but also want to see the end. – Sean Gaffney
Battle Angel Alita: Mars Chronicle, Vol. 2 | By Yukito Kishiro | Kodansha Comics – Having recently started reading and enjoying the original Battle Angel Alita, I was naturally curious about Mars Chronicle. While the first volume of Mars Chronicle served as a prequel to Battle Angel Alita, taking place during Alita’s childhood as a war orphan on Mars, the second volume is a sequel set after the events of the Last Order series. Tying the volumes together are the characters and the Martian landscape. Alita finds herself caught up in a dramatic battle with Erica, her childhood friend and another expert martial artist, while larger efforts to establish a unified Mars are in danger of collapsing, Alita herself framed for an assassination attempt of the emerging leader. For the most part, Mars Chronicle is a fairly accessible series even for those who haven’t read the earlier manga, although some basic familiarity with the franchise can still be useful. – Ash Brown
Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma, Vol. 24 | By Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki | Viz Media – One of the more iconic things about Food Wars! are the images that are drawn by the artist summing up the preparation of food. Sometimes, when it involves the judges eating, it’s pure fanservice, but not always. There’s two terrific portraits here of the different types of cooking that two of the teams do—the one with Gin, Takumi and Megumi is shown as a sort of cocktail jazz band, while the one with Soma, his dad and Erina is shown to be avant-garde Jackson-Pollock style painters. It’s great stuff, and helps get us into the big final matches, which start with Soma immediately having rotten luck destroy him, as he’s challenging a soba expert and the meal they’re doing is soba. Ah well, he’s the hero, I’m sure he’ll come up with something. – Sean Gaffney
Ghost in the Shell README: 1995-2017 | By Takuma Shindo | Kodansha Comics – Despite being subtitled 1995-2017, the recent Hollywood live-action Ghost in the Shell film is oddly the first incarnation of Shirow Masamune’s manga to be addressed by the README guide and artbook. The rest of the volume is devoted to the various anime films and series by Mamoru Oshii, Kenji Kamiyama and, most recently, Kazuchika Kise. Each of the adaptations is given a chapter of its own which includes general information, story summaries, character, mechanical, and landscape designs, an abundance of full-color artwork, and more. For me the most interesting parts of README were the essays, the interview with Atsuko Tanaka and Maaya Sakamoto (the voices of “The Major,” Motoko Kusanagi), and the roundtable featuring all of the Ghost in the Shell anime directors in conversation with one another. README will likely appeal most to established fans of the franchise, but it provides a terrific overview and general introduction, too. – Ash Brown
Horimiya, Vol. 11 | By Hero and Daisuke Hagiwara | Yen Press – It really is impressive how the author of Horimiya is just not letting go of the fact that Hori really gets turned on by being dominated/struck, and that this really seems to bother Miyamura. It’s one reason, perhaps, why the volume ends with a short chapter that shows that, though they love each other, they still have tremendous difficulty figuring out how the other thinks. And there’s also Hori’s rage issues, which they at least acknowledge but don’t really deal with. As for the other couples, well, Ishikawa and Yoshikawa (Ishiyoshi?) are still struggling a bit, mostly due to embarrassment and embarrassing family. Horimiya isn’t as fantastic as it once was, but it’s still fun. – Sean Gaffney
Kuroko’s Basketball, Vols. 23-24 | By Tadatoshi Fujimaki | VIZ Media – We begin with the conclusion of the Winter Cup semifinal game, during which Seirin manages to defeat Kaijo by a one-point margin. It’s tense and exciting and there is a lot of manly crying. Rather than move right into the finals, however, the story diverges into flashback mode, with Kuroko telling the story of his time at Teiko Middle. This arc is fabulous and I’m a little bummed we didn’t have it earlier, as it would’ve informed so many of Kuroko’s interactions with his former teammates. However, putting it before his big matchup against Akashi makes sense, since Akashi was the one who sensed his potential to develop a unique style in the first place. In particular, I wasn’t expecting to come out of the arc loving Aomine so much. It’s nice knowing he finally did find someone who could defeat him. One of the best volumes in a while! – Michelle Smith
Kuroko’s Basketball, Vols. 23-24 | By Tadatoshi Fujimaki | Viz Media – As you might expect, Kuroko solves things, and is even allowed to make the winning shot—something that stuns him a bit. We’re clearly getting near to the end of the series, which means it’s now time for a biiiig flashback showing how the Generation of Miracles actually came to be. As you might imagine given everyone we’ve seen, it was not free and easy. Kuroko is almost put off the team a few times and the others barely work together at all. (It’s also cute seeing a middle-school, pre-sexy knockout Momoi falling for Kuroko.) I’m glad that this flashback is coming now, as we’ve come to know all the leads, and it also gives us a break from the tournament while still being filled with basketball. – Sean Gaffney
Mushroom Girls in Love | By Kei Murayama | Seven Seas – If it weren’t for the length, this could easily have fit right into the middle of A Centaur’s Life, a series that seems to enjoy randomly wandering off into whatever the hell for a few chapters on end. Instead of animal-human hybrids, this time it’s fungi-human hybrids, as our heroines try to stay married and in love despite root rot, royalty trying to break them up, and evading gunfire and the world seemingly being against them. As with A Centaur’s Life, this is not so much comedic or dramatic as just plain weird. And then there’s the girls riding tarantulas like horses… I guess what I mean to say is that if you like A Centaur’s Life and wish that the lesbians were the main characters, give this a shot. – Sean Gaffney
Princess Jellyfish, Vol. 9 | By Akiko Higashimura | Kodansha Comics – In many respects, this is a satisfying finale. Jelly Fish is back in business and it’s great to see the girls, particularly Jiji, finally able to don fancy clothes without hesitation in order to help Tsukimi’s visions become reality. In fact, I pretty much cried straight through from that point on. Reveals and reunions occur, but when one looks closer, one sees that several things remain unsettled. Amamizukan is still owned by Kai Fish, we don’t know whether Jelly Fish will actually be a success, and we don’t know how Tsukimi feels about Kuranosuke being in love with her (though I do love that he recognizes she doesn’t need a man right now). The feeling is all very optimistic, though, and perhaps it’s for the best that we just imagine a happy outcome without worrying about the details. It’s hard to believe it’s over! – Michelle Smith
Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku, Vol. 2 | By Fujita | Kodansha Comics – If you enjoyed the first volume of Wotakoi, this second one gives you more of what you enjoyed. The four leads are still all otaku types, but realistic and not caricatured. We get to see how Hanako and Taro met, which temporarily turns Wotakoi into Haikyu!! for a bit, and also see the couples accidentally getting swapped thanks to a haunted roller coaster. And there’s a new character, introduced (I thought) to be a gay love interest to Naoya, but no, she’s just a shy girl who dresses like a schlub. Still, there’s some comedy to be mined from hiding this from Naoya for the time being. As an anime and manga geek, reading Wotakoi is both fun and heartwarming, and I like it a lot. – Sean Gaffney
Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku, Vol. 2 | By Fujita | Kodansha Comics – I really liked the first Wotakoi omnibus, but I flatout loved this one. All of the characters are so great and so vivid, and there was an interesting structure to the two volumes included here. In the first, the continuing story of Hirotaka and Narumi’s first real date is interspersed with short vignettes and the story of how Naoya makes a friend. I came away with a much stronger idea of why Hirotaka loves Narumi, and how he feels like an inferior adult compared to her. In the second volume, the continuing story is an amazing flashback to Kabakura and Koyanagi in high school, with all the tsundere goodness one could wish for. Ordinarily, characters who bicker this much would bother me, but these two are the exception. This is a fabulous series that everyone should be reading. Get on it! – Michelle Smith
Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs, Vol. 2 | By Tadahiro Miura | Seven Seas – If nothing else, Yuuna is proving to be a slightly better ecchi Jump title than To-Love-Ru has, possibly as there’s slightly less emphasis on falling into everyone’s breasts all the time. Only slightly, though, and Yuuna still positions itself for one type of reader and one alone—the horny teenage boy. But if I were a horny teenage boy, I’d like this—Kogarashi is a bit less hapless than the typical ecchi protagonist, the girls are for the most part fun (I was amused that the drunken Kitsune wannabe is a manga artist), and there is the occasional sweet romantic tease. Still, if you’re expecting romance, read Nisekoi. If you want boobs, this is the book for you. – Sean Gaffney

Ruined Plans (VIXX Hongbin x Reader)
Tumblr media
A/N: For  @xmoonlightspiritx on wattpad
Summary: After plenty ruined dates, things finally go your way.
Count: 2.8k
Genre: Fluff
Request Regulations/Rules
~Blake
February 14th, also known as the day lovers did sweet or extravagant acts of kindness for each other, that was tomorrow's date. Valentine's day. You never asked your boyfriend Hongbin for much. You stayed quiet about his busy schedules colliding with movie dates you thought would be perfect, the last minute tours making you push back the trips to Hawaii, and even your new year's kiss being cancelled because he had been too busy.
You understood, it was Hongbin's job. The job he tried so hard at to build a comfortable life with you. The job that he loved doing almost as much as he loved you, almost being the key word. He wouldn't hesitate if you'd asked him to quit and become something more rewarding. But you would never do that to him, it was his niche.
When you two had first started dating you guys did it knowing it would be tough, nearly impossible for the relationship to turn out as well as it is going. Luckily your relationship had been adored by the starlights, who were proud of Hongbin for getting himself a catch like you. He loved you with all his heart and it crushed his soul to see the light in your eyes or the joy in your voice die out when he had to raincheck something you'd spent the whole afternoon planning.
You had to make sure you had your privacy, a dark place in a restaurant or secret spots to keep away from fans and reporters. Somewhere close to home so Hongbin could get rest. Somewhere close to Jellyfish Ent. so if he had gotten called back he wouldn't be late. Those were just picayune things compared to how considerate you were to him. You would do anything for him just like how he'd do anything for you. It was just the kind of people you both were, it was one thing that made you two a perfect fit for each other.
Hongbin appreciated all of it. The love notes you packed in his lunches you made him, the kisses you'd place on his forehead when he fell asleep on the couch, and even the good morning texts that you send when you wake up without him by your side.
Tomorrow was Valentine's Day, a day you had been promised by Hongbin would be just for the two of you, of course that promise had been make weeks ago and had possibly slipped his mind. He made extra aware to you that he had remembered and that it'll be perfect. But that was the 14th, now is the 13th, late at night in fact. Hongbin was at work while you are sitting at the kitchen counter with papers and magazines scattered all over the place. It was not work of your own, that had been finished hours ago and had been put away. The papers and magazines were things you'd collected since you were a toddler through out your teenage years. Things labeled, "Date Ideas" in bright red crayon. Despite them being written when you were eight or nine, some of the ideas weren't that bad so you'd jotted them down in a new and improved notebook you were using.
You had remembered Hongbin wouldn't be home until midnight, he told you he was going to get all his work done tonight so he'd be free for all the things you'd planned for tomorrow. You'd looked at the clock and saw it was 10:30pm, plenty of time; or so you thought. At 11pm Hongbin came home early as a surprise and had found you using your arm as a pillow and your eyes closed. You had fallen asleep.
He sucked his teeth, asking himself why you hadn't just gone to be if you were tired. He then walked over to bring you to your bedroom when he saw what you had been doing. Breakfast in bed, you were going to make peanut butter pancakes. The you were going to watch this sappy movie together, the movie Hongbin was embarrassed to admit he wanted to see. He loved rom-coms leave the poor boy alone. After the movie you had a date at the pond, the place where you two had first met. You wanted to feed the ducks with him, something your father did with you when you were young. When the ducks had been fed you wanted to take him to a light show at the park and kiss behind a tree. That was new to Hongbin, it wasn't something he'd expected from you, PDA was always limited to holding hands. Both of you were too shy to cuddle in public, let alone kiss.
The schedule warmed his heart, but he had other plans. Some of which were similar to yours in some perspectives. He smiled his dimple-filled grin and picked you up to carry you into the bedroom for you to rest peacefully. He had a whole day that was going to be about you, his princess. Yes, he did tell you to plan things, but that was only to keep you distracted and to buy him some time to work out his own day for you. He lied next to you until the early morning, that was when his plan unfolded.
Y/N's POV
I open my eyes and feel the blessedness of getting a good nights rest. I shoot up and begin to panic.
'When did I get into my bed? Wait, what time is it?!'
"Nine A.M, oh gosh, I'm so behind!" Ignoring the chirping of the birds I run out into the kitchen to try and whip up the breakfast I had planned. I open the fridge to grab the eggs and I find a bright pink sticky on the carton.
'Thought you were sneaky, huh? I made breakfast for you! It's in the microwave. Make sure you read the note ;)                  -Hongbin'
I close the fridge and press my lips together to hid a smile. This greaseball. I head to the microwave and see a plate of heart shaped waffles with strawberries and whipped cream tinted pink.
"Aw! He went all out this year." I giggled, last year he'd ordered take out because he nearly burned the kitchen down. I find the yellow sticky on the plate and read it as I take a bite of the perfectly made waffle.
'When you are full look in our closet, I have a gift for you <3'
As I were told, I ate until I was full and put the dishes in the sink before practically running to the closet like the note had said. In said closet I found the black dress I had seen while window shopping with my cousin a couple of days ago. I read the blue sticky note attacked to the hanger and nearly teared up.
'For you, my love. Put it on and head for the place we first kissed at. There's another present for you.'
"This man is going to be the death of me, I swear." I pulled the dress off the hanger and tried it on, a perfect fit. I was too excited to take the next three hours doing my make up and hair so I settled for putting my hair up into a ponytail and doing a ten minute make-up routine that saved my behind during high school when the snooze button was too tempting. I slid on black flats and I was off to the swing sets, the place Hongbin and I first kissed.
It was only a five minute walk from our house, completely unintentional by the way. When I got there I saw a tall figure standing abaft to me, shoulders perching broadly. The man turned around and I recognized him as Leo and I saw that he was holding a stuffed panda toy in his arms. On the toy was a paper rolled shut and tied with a red ribbon.
I walked closer and he stretched his arms out, remaining silent. He had gestured me to take the gift by placing it in my arms, then he spoke.
"Head to the corner road of the first restaurant Hongbin took you too." He said before walking away. If I am correct I saw Leo flash a small smirk as his figure became smaller in the distance. I looked at the panda toy and unraveled the paper to reveal Hongbin's handwriting.
A million stars up in the sky one shines brighter I can't deny A love so precious a love so true a love that comes from me to you The angels sing when you are near within your arms I have nothing to fear You always know just what to say just talking to you makes my day I love you honey with all of my heart together forever and never to part.
I hadn't noticed my eyes starting to brim with tears until one rolled down my cheek. I rolled the paper back up neatly to preserve its beauty so I can look at it in the future. I'm guessing there's another surprise at the restaurant Hongbin first took me to, our first anniversary! He took me to this really cozy café that's around the corner.
"What is he planning?" I smiled, but began walking anyway. I was at the restaurant with in minutes and I saw Hyuk standing at the front door wearing a waiter's outfit and a black apron.
"Hyuk, what on Earth is going on?" I asked, why haven't I seen Hongbin yet?
"Today is your day, enjoy it." He opened the door for me and revealed a red carpet with rose petals surrounding it. "Ladies first."
"What a gentleman." I joked as I entered the café. Last time I was here there was a book store like feel, now with the roses and candles it has a more romantic touch too the place. As I follow the red carpet trail I see pictures of Hongbin and I through out our years together. Some pictures I remember, that one is from our beach day, and that one is from that hike we took last year. But some of them I don't remember, most likely because Hongbin probably took the pictures without me knowing. Some were of me sleeping on the couch during movie nights, others were of me innocently doing dishes.
The carpet leads me to the back of the building, the candles have ended and so have the sources of light. I stand in complete darkness and I feel the panda bear and love note being taken away from me. Before I can protest a single spotlight shines with N standing directly under it. He wore a sharp tuxedo and had a microphone in his hands. Suddenly music began softly playing from the very back and the song was imprinted in my brain. It was my favorite VIXX song.
"maljubyeoni eobseodo nal ihaehae jwoyo damadwotdeon jinsimeul da yaegihalgeyo" He sang. I covered my face with my hands to hide my blush. Hyuk, who was next to sing, then walked onto the stage witht he other members, Hongbin shooting me a wink and a smile. All wore identical tuxes, the only variation being their tie colors.
"uriga cheoeum mannan geu nal gieok hanayo yeppeun geu ipsullo naege useojudeon"
As each member sang tears of happiness fell down the sides of my face without control. It must've been years since I was this happy, besides being with Hongbin of course. I just feel like a princess going to her first ball and finding her prince charming, or like back in high school when I passed a test I didn't study for. This is true joy.
Eventually the song ended and all six boys stepped down and circed around me, with Hongbin standing across from me. The spotlight followed them before landing directly onto me.
"I know this is unexpected, but I just wanted to show you how thankful I am to be with you and to show you what you mean to me. Just remember that there is nothing fathomable I could do to even show you half of how much I love you." He spoke, going down on one knee and grabbing something from his pocket. I gapsed and stepped back, he wasn't...
"Y/N, will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?" He pulle dout a black velvet box and opened it to reveal a diamond ring.
"Of course you knuckle head!" I exclaimed. Hongbin jumped up and hugged me with all his might, stuffing his head in my nape. The other VIXX members cheered and clapped while Hongbin and I kissed.
This truely is the happiest day of my life.
