Long story short, the finale vindicated Gabriel for all of his actions thanks to a half-assed "redemption", Adrien was benched the whole time, so he never got to learn his dad was a supervillain, and because he altered reality through the wish that killed him, Gabriel is now hailed as a hero who sacrificed himself to save the world.

Are you fucking kidding me, show??? For fucking real??? Gabriel spent all five seasons terrorizing Paris (and the USA and Shanghai in the specials), his motives literally switching between wanting his wife back or wanting to just take over the world and he basically was a piece of shit father for the whole show to the point of akumatizing his son twice in two different realities, because that's how little he care's about Adrien, and instead of the karma he deserves, he gets: *The Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous, aka what he's been after this whole season, and therefore, he's able to make his wish but its made to be a good thing for some fucking reason. *He gets to be hailed as a hero for some reason by the same city he was fine akumatizing its citizens off and destroying most of the time and Adrien still see's his dad as a good person (somehow) because the show didn't let him take part in the final fight and therefore, Adrien doesn't know the truth just like the rest of the city (bar Marinette, Plagg, Tikki and Nathalie (seriously, people blaming Marinette for keeping the truth when the other three also know and aren't saying shit)).

This show really did say, "I'll villainize teenage girls before I even try to call out the actual villain-" holy shit, cause don't get me started on them refusing to let this show end already and instead having Lila get the butterfly at the end. And can I just say Owl House and even Big Hero 6 The Series gave their villains consequences when they pulled Gabriel shit? Hunter got to confront Belos in 'Thanks To Them' and in 'Watching And Dreaming', Belos basically gets stomped to death by the very people he tried to kill, while Big Hero 6's Di does succeed in saving her creator, Liv, but Liv stops her from turning Hiro into a monster in time and isn't happy with her clone, not having wanted to be saved like this, and we see Di go to prison as a result for her actions.

I would ask why was it so hard for Miraculous to do these things with Gabriel (allow Adrien to confront him and show him getting consequences), but sadly, the signs were there that they were going to somehow try to make Gabriel into a good guy at the end of it all. It was just false hope that it wouldn't.
