Clerra hints in FF7 Rebirth so far
I have been wanting to continue writing more, but I was waiting for the script of Act 4 Chapter 7 Part 2 of DFFOO to release at dff.ooo, but that still hasn't happened...so I'll ignore it for now.
The demo footage from the Tokyo Game Show has arrived. I originally didn't expect anything, but it makes sense that the demo shows the flashback and Junon since they were shown in the trailers already.
Here's a list of general stuff followed by miscellaneous Clerra stuff (#7 is biggest):
Climbing is a part of this game.
You can swim in basically any source of water to reach islands.
Yuffie is recruited during the boss fight that involves Priscilla and it seems like the artificial respiration minigame will be done with Yuffie (?maybe?). They were playing it safe there I suppose.
A giant bird creature (i'll just call it "the condor") snatches one of the black cloaked figures. I feel there was always a hint that Zack should be snatched up by something bird-like and fall on some flowers thanks to what the WoFF DLC scene involving Serah showed (search it up on YouTube if you want) and the fact that the condor appeared before Zack's scene in Intergrade's ending (which is why I mention it). There is a little more information about birds and Shinra involving the "Fonadu" enemy. Also, Fort Condor is now an island (it's may be important for Clerra, but that's a long story).
Priscilla is similar to Rikku. In fact, I felt she was so similar that I can literally just say that my crazy theory has been proven right. Rikku is designed after Yuffie and Priscilla, which is why both of them are now involved in the same scene and already know each other. It may not seem important now, but if Rikku appears in DFFOO, it will be. Plus, it's "lore"...in a way. My original theory started with why the concept art of Priscilla looked similar to Rikku (specifically the hair) and why in X-2 Rikku says she once had a crush on someone which was never ever figured out to be anyone except one guy which couldn't possibly be (yes, it's actually Cloud, thanks Nomura).
Rhonda, the mayor for the town under Junon has clothing that is similar in composition to Terra. She has the pink cloak "scarf" around her neck, interesting earrings, a ponytail, and a piece of clothing wrapped around her waist mimicking Terra's sash. She has a tattoo on her left arm as well, but I didn't know what it was. I'd assume there'll be something involving her with this Clerra storyline in Cloud's timeline. The hair bangs of Tifa, Priscilla, and Yuffie are also similar...they may be imitating Cloud's hair in a way. This isn't a new thing since Terra's hair in Dissidia (2008) also imitates Cloud hair (it's very subtle, but you won't un-see it once you notice it and how it goes away in Dissidia NT). Another character will likely be Kyrie in Zack's timeline (and maybe Jessie again if she exists). Priscilla's hair and clothing look more like Terra's now.
The synergy attack with Cloud & Aerith ("Firework Blade") looks like Terra's "Riot Blade" attack from FF6 (three energy beams are shot from Cloud's sword)...however, the most important detail is extremely important. The attack has the 5-petal flower spammed into existence. This flower is always found on Terra's hints: the flowers on Miss Folia's shirt, a promotional Dissidia Arcade image with Cloud, Terra, and Onion Knight, on the New Year 2020 card with mouse Terra, and on Yuffie's clothing in Advent Children. I think this flower is one of the many 5-petaled ones on Terra's leggings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, it looks like Riot Blade, and it only has this specific flower involved in it...this is the most important Clerra clue so far, period, in anything. Sure, it could just be a five petaled flower because it's Aerith's attack, but the main difference is that it is MANY. The Yuffie flower hint is very old, btw.
Now, about Zack's timeline...
Tumblr media
In Zack's timeline, Elmyra hints that the world may be "ending". The tornado that destroys and incapacitates the others in that timeline is involved in the end of FF7 with Meteor coming close. The case may be that Zack's timeline is Sephiroth winning.
With Sephiroth's words at the end of the trailer, this means that instead of "going to another world", he will bring two worlds together (FF6 and FF7's worlds). This is hinted at in Opera Omnia where worlds actually are merged into one ALL THE TIME, although Sephiroth mentions he wants to travel to other worlds. It could be that Terra (and maybe others) will just appear in the world, but it seems a bit silly to think of it like that...for now (it was one of my original joke theories from early 2020).
Many people were surprised by what Sephiroth said about the Reunion being "worlds merging" and the general assumption is that the timelines are the worlds, but no one is anticipating anything related to Clerra despite all the hints that have been ignored.
The thing is, following the pattern, Cloud in his timeline is with Aerith doing the "FF7 game story". It makes sense that Zack would be doing the opposite thing with Terra in the "FF6 game story" that Cloud is missing from (as he's the original main character of FF6 and Zack was the originally planned "personality" of Cloud for FF7 before they decided on FF6 Cloud and made a big mystery on who's "the real Cloud").
I know that's hard for anyone to believe, but I guess you'll see for yourself...
Still, I don't know WHEN Terra will appear, but it's completely possible it will happen in Rebirth as all the puzzle pieces are set with Zack's timeline along with DFFOO chapter 4 is building up something and the hints are getting too strong for them to continue the secret for four or so more years. Also that Terra statue will be shipped soon that costs as much as a car...obviously, that can't be ignored (will it ship November 2023? I remember it being that.)
Many people like to focus on Cloud, Zack, and Sephiroth (theorists especially), but don't seem to notice that the three are distinctly tied to Terra, Aerith, and Jenova.

Top 20 BEST Animated Series of the 2010s-8th Place
It’s funny. Four years ago, there was no doubt in my mind that this show would easily make the top five best-animated series in the last decade. But the more it went on, the more...controversial it got. However, despite all the hate this next series has been getting recently, I still believe that there’s something to be desired within it.
#8-Steven Universe/Steven Universe: Future (2013-2020)
The Plot: For years, immortal warriors known as the Crystal Gems have been defending the Earth from anything that seeks to do it harm. Until one day when Rose Quartz, the Gems leader, had fallen in love with a human named Greg Universe. From that love, Rose gave up her physical form to bring her son, Steven, into the world she was sworn to protect. Taking guidance from the other Crystal Gems-Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl-Steven will try his best to grow up into the same warrior that his mom was. But as he learns more about the Gems and his mother, Steven will soon realize that he’ll have to grow up far faster than he thought.
Right out the gate, I should mention there's a 60%-40% chance that you’re either going to love this show or think that it’s pure garbage. And honestly, I believe it all depends on perspective. Like the quality of most shows, the enjoyment depends on the viewpoints you chose to take with it. Some people will look at specific decisions as well done, where others will see it all as a mess of storytelling. For instance, one person can make a two-hour-long video about how Steven Universe is garbage, and another person can make a video arguing about how it isn’t. Everyone has different reasons why they like or hate something. If you genuinely hate Steven Universe or think you might not like it, that's perfectly fine. I just hope you’ll give me the chance to explain why I personally enjoy it, and why I think it deserves all the adulation it has.
For instance, the main thing I really enjoy about Steven Universe is its style. From the designs, to the animation, to even the music. Everything about how Steven Universe both looks and sounds leave me awestruck. First is the show’s designs of both the backgrounds and characters. Nearly every part of the world in the series looks absolutely amazing, fitting seeing how the Crystal Gems fought for Earth due to its beauty. There are also times when lore and backstory can be seen through the backgrounds, giving some fantastic utilization of visual storytelling. Such as when the Crystal Gems visit war zones and temples that they’ve spent years fighting in, showing hidden secrets that can make much more sense by later episodes. As for the character designs, they all look pretty good. Each character has a dynamic and unique style, making them all fun to look at. It’s even better when the character’s personalities are shown throughout their entire designs. I especially love how the artists managed to get creative with how real life crystals (lapices, bismuths, and jaspers) will look like people when designing the Crystal Gems and their enemies. However, I should first mention that Steven Universe is another show where the art style depends on who’s storyboarding the scene. While not as bad as OK KO: Let’s Be Heroes, it can be pretty distracting given how character sizes and proportions are inconsistent. Regardless, I still like how good the designs look for a majority of the characters. And at a practical standpoint, I think it’s great that the artists kept the figures as simple as possible as it makes animating the characters a lot easier.
Speaking of which, I really like how Steven Universe is animated. It’s not entirely groundbreaking like The Amazing World of Gumball’s or as fluid as Wander Over Yonder’s, but the animation in Steven Universe is still pretty dang good. The characters' movements look believable, and the expressions each one makes is downright amazing to see. It gets more aspiring for the show’s fight scenes. You can almost feel each punch, jab, and slash that the characters trade with each other, and the fights themselves are pretty fun to watch. As for the action itself, Steven Universe might just have the most creative action set pieces I’ve seen from any animated series. Case in point, there is an entire fight scene that’s also a fantastic song at the same time.
On the topic of songs, let the record show that showrunner Rebecca Sugar really understands music. I say this because Steven Universe has some really great music in it. From background music to full-on musical numbers, this show proves how important melodies are in a series. Look at the background music, as it not only does a suitable job at making audiences feel the right emotions but also sounds really good when isolated. As for the character motifs, each note perfectly encapsulates the character's personality that it’s meant for. Like Pearl, who has a piano melody to show off her classy and orderly personality, and Peridot, who has a more 8-bit tune to her leitmotif as a way to show off her tech side. And since we branched into talking about 8-bit, there are times when this show’s soundtrack sounds like it belongs in a really cool video game (Google Lion’s and Obsidian's themes if you don’t believe me). As for the actual songs in the show, Steven Universe has a pretty good selection. As they can be beautiful and downright awesome to listen to. And even though the show uses songs to develop the characters and story, these musical numbers can still be pretty fun to listen to on their own, with no context (most of the time).
But while a show's style is essential, it’s the substance that truly matters. And here is where we go back to the discussion of perspective. To some viewers, you might think that the substance in Steven Universe is handled well, where others...Well, I think it’s pretty obvious how they might feel.
Let’s look at the story because Steven Universe actually has an intriguing and compelling story...Or at least it does when it tries to eventually tell that story. Whether you’re a person who either loves or hates the series, everyone can agree that the slice of life episodes are easily the show’s weakest. Personally, I don’t mind them, and that’s because I view these episodes as giving me a choice between eating a chocolate cake or a carrot. The story-driven episodes are a chocolate cake. Their sweet, delicious, and I’m always craving more after just having one piece. As for the slice of life episodes, they’re like carrots. I can eat a carrot. I can digest a carrot. I might even enjoy a carrot. Hell, there are times when I’m willing to ask for another carrot. But if you’re going to give me the decision of a carrot over a chocolate cake, then I’m always going to pick the chocolate cake. Even if I enjoy episodes like “Laser Light Cannon," “Too Short to Ride," and “Alone Together," they can never hold a candle to “Jail Break," “Reunited," and “Change Your Mind." This is because the slice of life episodes give off a sense of distraction from the main story. After all, they rarely add anything new (read: meaningful) to the tale. And going back to the carrot and chocolate cake analogy, there’s one aspect that doesn’t do the slice of life episodes any favors. You see, where most shows feel like you have to eat the carrots before having the chocolate cake, half the time Steven Universe feels like you can skip most of the carrots and go straight for the chocolate cake instead. And Steven Universe isn’t the only show to try this. In fact, tomorrow I’ll be talking about a show that perfected this idea. But tomorrow's series manages to make both the story and slice of life episode the chocolate cake instead of the carrot. And it has everything to do with the fact that the characters care about the situation they’re in. There are actual moments in the show where Crystal Gems refuse to participate in everyday antics because they simply don’t think those antics are worth their time. Which is something you never want to do. Because if the characters don’t care, then why should the audience? Speaking of the characters--
I want it to be known that I like the majority of the characters in Steven Universe. Greg, Connie, Peridot, Amethyst, and Garnet are all enjoyable to watch in their own way. Not only is their development on point, but their personalities are all likable, and their issues are also relatable. It’s three other characters that things get a little iffy. Those characters being Steven, Pearl, Bismuth and Lapis. If you ask me, I like these characters, and I think it’s fun to study/analyze their personalities. However, these characters make decisions that audiences are either going to hate or love. It’s sort of like that optical illusion of the old lady/young lady (Google it). Some people can see the ugly old hag, where others will see the beautiful young woman. You’re most likely going to see one or the other, and it isn’t until someone else points out what you couldn’t notice that you are capable of seeing both. It’s something very similar to Steven, Pearl, Bismuth and Lapis. One response is that you’re either going to see characters who are selfless heroes that are victims of circumstance. The other is seeing toxic idiots who cause more harm than good to the people they love.
And then there are the people of Beach City. These are mostly hated by both fans and critics of the show. Personally, I don’t hate most of them. Don’t get me wrong, characters like Lars and Ronaldo deserve every ounce of hate they are given (Although Lars does get better). As for the rest of the Beach Citizens, I don’t think they are that bad of characters. In fact, I think they’re good characters placed in the wrong show. Some of them have issues that most people deal with (Sadie, in most of her episodes), where others seem to be slightly layered and almost intriguing (Mr. Smiley and Onion in “Future Boy Zoltron” and “Onion Gang”). In fact, if these characters were a part of a different series, I’m sure people will be more willing to watch their struggles. It's just compared to the Crystal Gems and company, the people of Beach City are not as interesting to watch or dissect. And because of this, the show drags down to a screeching halt whenever it focuses on these characters.
And the most controversial element of these characters is (semi-spoilers ahead) when the show tries to pull off redemption arcs. Steven Universe seems to work off the logic that nobody is evil, just misunderstood. There’s both a right way and a wrong way of illustrating that logic, and Steven Universe, unfortunately, does it the wrong way. And the best way for me to describe how to do this idea is to use the game Undertale as an example (I’d warn you about spoilers, but odds are you already know everything about that game). In Undertale, you play a character who fell into an underground prison full of monsters, and you have to find your way back to the surface. The monsters you run into give the impression that they’re dangerous and want to destroy you (or at least most of them do). However, the game allows the player to interact with the world and characters around them, soon discovering that the monsters are more complex than one might think. In fact, the game allows you to actually interact with monsters who tried to kill you, showing the logic and reasoning as to why. By the end of Undertale, you learn that every character you encounter is not the villains in the story, but rather victims of a war that forced them away from the surface. Steven Universe has a similar idea but fails to do it properly. All it reveals is that the villains have done bad things, realize that they’ve done wrong, and decide to have an out of nowhere change of heart by the end. The problem is that except for one character, the turnarounds don’t feel earned. Instead, they feel forced than anything else.
These elements are what make Steven Universe slightly controversial to enjoy.
(And also the ridiculous amount of hiatuses. But that’s not really an issue I have with the show, but the network running it.)
But if there is one thing I hope we all can agree on, both the pessimistic and forgiving, I think it’s safe to say that the best thing about Steven Universe is how important it is for the LGBTQ+ community. There may have been kids' shows in the past that hinted at same-sex relationships and they deserve some respect as well. But I'd say it’s Steven Universe that popularized the idea with the characters Ruby and Saphire. Not only are these two downright adorable together, but they also manage to be enjoyable characters on their own (Even though it isn’t often you see them apart, but their personalities still shine through). And I’m willing to make the argument that it’s because of these two why children’s animation is less afraid, but still cautious, of being explicit with having same-sex couples. Like I said, most shows decide to hint at these relationships, so they don't get in trouble for doing so. Nowadays? Most of Cartoon Network’s series seem to have more gay relationships than most children’s networks in recent memory. Nickelodeon allowed The Loud House to have gay parents in a children's cartoon, and one of the main characters being canonically bisexual. Hell, even Disney is currently taking steps in the right direction with their smash hit called The Owl House. Now, more than ever, kids can learn at an early age that gay relationships are more than just acceptable, but they’re also completely normal and should be accepted as such. And I’m more than willing to give Steven Universe credit for giving this trend the push that it needed, like other creators for these shows usually point fingers at it as well.
Is Steven Universe a perfect show? No. But that doesn’t mean I think it’s garbage. There are some legitimate faults that this series has, some of which I’m inclined to agree with. But with all the good it does and how much fun people have while watching it, I can’t really say I hate this series. If you think you’ll hate this show, you have every right to. I can’t change how you feel, but I can ask you to keep an open mind. Because who knows? You might be someone who will find the diamond in the rough of this series.
(Now that’s a pun you’ll be willing to appreciate by the time you reach season 5).

By Patti Wigington
Updated January 04, 2020
By February, most of us are tired of the cold, snowy season. Imbolc reminds us that spring is coming soon, and that we only have a few more weeks of winter to go. The sun gets a little brighter, the earth gets a little warmer, and we know that life is quickening within the soil. There are a number of different ways to celebrate this Sabbat, but first, you may want to read up on Imbolc History.
Rituals and Ceremonies
Depending on your particular tradition, there are many different ways you can celebrate Imbolc. Some people focus on the Celtic goddess Brighid, in her many aspects as a deity of fire and fertility. Others aim their rituals more towards the cycles of the season, and agricultural markers. Here are a few rituals you may want to think about trying — and remember, any of them can be adapted for either a solitary practitioner or a small group, with just a little planning ahead.
Setting Up Your Imbolc Altar: Wondering what to put on your altar? Here are some great ideas for symbols of the season.
Imbolc Candle Ritual: Are you a solo practitioner? Try this simple candle ritual to celebrate the season.
Initiation Ceremony for a New Seeker: In many Pagan traditions, this time of year is a season of beginnings, and can be associated with initiations and re-dedications.
Imbolc Prayers: If you're looking for prayers or blessings, here's where you'll find a selection of original devotionals that bid farewell to the winter months and honor the goddess Brighid, as well as seasonal blessings for your meals, hearth, and home.
Celebrating Imbolc with Kids: Got little Pagans in your life? These are a few fun and simple ways to observe the Sabbat.
Tumblr media
Imbolc Magic
Imbolc is a time of magical energy related to the feminine aspect of the goddess, of new beginnings, and of fire. It's also a good time to focus on divination and increasing your own magical gifts and abilities. Take advantage of these concepts, and plan your workings accordingly. Because of its proximity to Valentine's Day, Imbolc also tends to be a time when people start exploring love magic–if you do, be sure to read up on it first!
Imbolc Cleansing Ritual Bath: Take this simple cleansing bath as a ritual by itself, or before you perform another ceremony.
Imbolc House Cleansing Ceremony: Get a jump on your spring cleaning by doing a cleanse of your home.
Fire Scrying Ritual: Imbolc is a festival of fire, so take advantage of the flames and do some scrying.
Lithomancy–Divination by Stones: It may be dark and chilly outside, but there's no reason you can't do some divinatory work.
All About Love Magic: Wondering what the deal is with love magic? Here's what you need to know.
Love Spell Ethics: Is love magic okay or not? Depends on who you ask.
Traditions and Trends
Interested in learning about some of the traditions behind the celebrations of February? Find out how Valentine's Day became important, what the Romans were up to, and where the legend of the groundhog began! We'll also look at the many different aspects of Brighid — after all, Imbolc is her feast day — and talk about the very important issue of Seasonal Affective Disorder, which often rears its ugly head around this time of year.
Brighid, Hearth Goddess of Ireland: Brighid is the Celtic goddess associated with the Imbolc sabbat.
Deities of Imbolc: There are many gods and goddesses around the world that are represented at this time of year.
The Roman Parentalia: This ancient Roman festival marked the onset of the spring season.
Valentine's Day: Wondering why we celebrate Valentine's? Let's look at some of the magical history behind the holiday.
Februalia: A Time of Purification: The Februalia was a time of ritual purification near the end of winter.

Crafts and Creations
As Imbolc rolls in, you can decorate your home (and keep your kids entertained) with a number of easy craft projects. Start celebrating a bit early with a Brighid's Cross or a Corn Doll. Let's look at some simple decorations you can make for your home that celebrate this season of fire and domesticity.
Feasting and Food
No Pagan celebration is really complete without a meal to go along with it. For Imbolc, celebrate with foods that honor the hearth and home, such as breads, grains, and vegetables stored from fall such as onions and potatoes, as well as dairy items. After all, this is the season of Lupercalia as well, honoring the she-wolf who nursed the twin founders of Rome, in addition to being the time of the spring lambing, so milk is often a focus in Imbolc cooking.

Fanfic Authors Tag Game
Tagged by @maiikawriter aaaahhh 💕 ty bb! I’m so glad to hear from you again
AO3 name: Meztli (link tagged in the name)
Fandoms: actively it’s Dragon Ball. Occasionally Pokemon but it’s been a good minute. Formerly, The Hobbit (movie-verse)
Number of fics: 18, and of those body of works 3 of them are one-shot collections, plus all the other stories I’ve uploaded on Tumblr that I haven’t published on ao3 b/c I’m lazy
1. Fic I spent the most time on: Under Mountains and Beneath Stars, a Kiliel (Kili/Tauriel) fic. It’s only 4 chapters long and is unfinished but MAN did I have to do a lot of Tolkien lore research and world-type of building. And rewatch the movies. Also a lot of editing.
2. Fic I spent the least time on: Probably the ficlets I wrote for Tiencha (Tien/Yamcha) Week 2020.
3. Longest fic: The one with more chapters is Just a Prisoner of Your Eyes, a Launchitz (Launch/Raditz) fic I’m still working on. The one with the most word count is Under Mountains and Beneath Stars
4. Shortest fic: On my ao3 account it lists The Day After Last Night, a fic I wrote for GoChi Week 2020, as having the smallest word count. But technically it’s “Warmth” a BraPan vignette that’s under the collection Bits and Bobs (Son Family-centered collection)
5. Most hits: Bits and Bobs
6. Most kudos: Bits and Bobs.
7. Most comment threads: Bits and Bobs, I think, but Under Mountains and Beneath Stars comes pretty darn close.
8. Favourite fic I wrote: Um. It’s hard to say. Maybe it’s Just a Prisoner of Your Eyes because it’s the one I’m having the most fun writing and have inspiration to write for. I’ve also gotten some fanart for it  and have met wonderful people because of it, so that’s super encouraging.
9. Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: I would love to finish Under Mountains and Beneath Stars, since out of all of them it may be the best written and thought-out one, but I just don’t have the same passion for that pair and fandom as I used to 😭💔. Plus it was hard to keep up with both Tolkien and movie lore. Considering expanding one of the GoChi Week prompt fics titled On Second Thought as a multi-chapter fic instead of a one-shot. It’s a Saiyan Chi-Chi and human Goku AU.
10. Share a bit of a WIP or a story idea you’re planning on: An excerpt from the latest (published) chapter of Just a Prisoner of Your Eyes, a Launchitz fic:
He used to take the sight of the open night sky for granted. In the cities he grew up in, the stars were hardly visible, their shine diluted by the artificial glow of the street lights. Even so, he shouldn't have taken all the freedoms he had for granted. The freedom to look at the outdoors whenever he wanted.  The freedom to sing at the top of his lungs. The freedom to touch another person in privacy, with nature as the only witness.
Launch pokes him on a rib, her nose nearly touching his as they both turn to look at each other.
"So how are things going for ya at the Son house?"
Raditz doesn’t like this shift in conversation, mainly because he’s not sure how to answer it.
It's a strange feeling to be living among an already established family, like being an onion in a bowl of apples.
"Uh, fine, I think. I'm still not sure how I fit into the family. It's like living with strangers, who you know are technically your family, but it doesn't quite feel like it yet. I like the kid, though. We’ve been kind of hanging out these last few days. Even went fishing with him yesterday when his old man couldn’t."
This was super fun and I did have to do a bit of thinking and digging. Idk even know who’s still active on this hellsite anymore. I’ll tag @katerayearth @elisajdb @zdbztumble @arofili  and literally anyone else who sees this b/c I honestly don’t know who’s still on here and maiika already tagged the other authors I know.

Title: The Photo Album
-
DEAN stands and sets the bottle of beer on the cooler. BOBBY speaks as DEAN walks around THE IMPALA, inspecting a copy of her, sitting in Heaven.
BOBBY: Don't forget to check the glove box.
DEAN: Hmm?
BOBBY: The photo album will be in there.
DEAN (scoffs): Photo album.
DEAN sticks his hand through the passenger window and the glove box's door flips down, revealing a brown leather book - worn around the edges, newspaper clippings sticking out of it, and tied shut just like JOHN's journal.
DEAN: It's just Dad's journal.
BOBBY: Well, they do look unique to each of us.
DEAN frowns and opens the book. On the inside cover, there are dark red symbols and lines forming a symbol of protection. SAM's handwriting scrawls along the bottom - December 25th, 2020. SW.
DEAN: Wait -- December?
BOBBY: Time don't pass the same up here.
DEAN flips through the first few pages. It is not JOHN's journal filled with monsters and lore, but a photo album like BOBBY said. A pyre lit in the background with EILEEN and more hunters blurred, out of focus for the image. A simple notation in SAM's handwriting - <i>Dean's funeral</i> - was surrounded by runes that revealed details on the page if DEAN touched them. <i>Donna was in the house, making sandwiches and not letting herself cry around Sam. Jody was hugging Garth, who had brought his wife and kids (and most of his pack). Jack was unable to make it because he was a hands-off type of god, but Sam was sure he could feel a presence of sorts in the breeze as the lighter hit the first section of the pyre and the flames went up without difficulty. A trench coat had been laid over Dean, in a nod to Cas, because Sam didn't think a bottle of beer left out for him would actually be left alone. Not today.</i>
A person laid out on a morgue's table with an empty space in their chest where a heart should've been - <i>Last case.</i> MIRACLE running through the yard of a house that DEAN didn't recognize while SAM and EILEEN carried in a few boxes from THE IMPALA - <i>Move in day with Eileen!</i> A small Christmas tree sits on a coffee table, and snow falls through a window. Stockings for SAM, EILEEN, and MIRACLE are hung from the windowsill because the mantle is taken up with pictures of loved ones already in Heaven; a bottle of beer sits next to a candid photo of DEAN from the bunker, smiling and laughing. It was no feast worthy of MRS. BUTTERS, but SAM and EILEEN are enjoying a spread of takeout - <i>First Christmas.</i> DEAN shuts the book quickly and blinks furiously.
BOBBY: It gets easier.
DEAN grunts noncommittally.
BOBBY: It's so you're ready when he comes.
DEAN drops the book on the passenger seat and shuts the door to the glove box a little more forcefully than necessary, walks around THE IMPALA a little faster than necessary, and takes a little more time getting situated in the driver's seat than was strictly necessary. BOBBY takes a sip of his beer.
DEAN: I'm going for a drive.
DEAN pauses, unsure of how to tell how long he'd been driving now that, well, time was all Heaven-y. BOBBY nods and raises his beer in acknowledgement.
BOBBY: Karen's making meatloaf. When you get back, we'll have Mary and your dad over for dinner.
DEAN can't think of anything to say. He had never met BOBBY's wife, and he still wasn't used to the idea of MARY and JOHN living together. Heaven was something, alright, but he had just arrived. DEAN turns the key, the engine of THE IMPALA roars to life, and "Carry On Wayward Son" by KANSAS starts to play.
DEAN (to himself): Atta Baby.
DEAN maneuvers down the dirt driveway until he hits the road, turns left, and drives, letting the calm of heading somewhere settle over him. The road twists and turns around hills, and the trees block out the sun at just the sweet spot of driving late in the afternoon and before the sun starts to set. It's just him - no leaf-peepers crawling along at a snail's pace and causing a line. It's familiar. It turns out that BOBBY was right - time doesn't flow quite the same in Heaven. His guts tells him that he should have a quarter of a tank left, but the gauge hasn't moved. DEAN still pulls over at a gas station, goes through the motions of filling her up, and idly reads the sign of the nearby diner.
DEAN: Anyone wanna try the sweet potato fries? That counts as your rabbit food - right, Sammy?
DEAN turns to THE IMPALA and freezes. It's empty. He glances around, relieved that no one's stepping forward as a witness or asking questions. DEAN sits in the driver's seat for a moment. He looks at the photo album sitting innocently on the passenger seat. He carefully opens it and thumbs a few pages beyond the Christmas photo. A room in soft pastel green with a crib with a chubby baby in yellow - <i>He's named Dean!</i> A photo of JACK surrounded by flowers - <i>Eileen didn't think it was very funny to exchange presents on God's birthday.</i> A photo of SAM and ANNIE in graduation gowns and caps; she has finished a nursing degree, while he has finished library science - <i> Graduation. Only took 20 years, give or take.</i> A boy around seven or eight proudly holding up a fish next to DONNA on a riverbank - <i>Dean's first fish.</i> SAM correcting his son's paper of practiced sigils and symbols, a paper with shaky pencil spelling out CASTIEL in Enochian, SAM's son carefully using a brush to apply his first ward to the doorway of his bedroom.
DEAN (muttering): Shit-shit-shit --
DEAN's eyes squeeze shut. Oh, it hurts. Worse than when he got impaled through the fucking chest. His baby brother is living, has a son named after him, is happy, and some sort of hunter librarian. It was everything Sam could've hoped for, really. DEAN swipes the tears away from his eyes. He knew on a certain level that he'd always go out in the midst of hunting, like their relatives, friends of the family - really, their Hunter family. It was what he was best at and what he was always going to do. No heart attacks from the cholesterol in all that red meat, not for him. It was an echo-y sort of hurt. DEAN could feel it, but he didn't feel consumed by it like he was treading water in a wave that was threatening to engulf him. He drops the open book on the passenger's seat and starts THE IMPALA. Maybe it wouldn't hurt as much by the time he got back to BOBBY's place.
A low voice from the backseat makes DEAN jump.
CASTIEL: It's rather difficult to find you when you keep moving in Heaven.
DEAN (quietly): Fuck!
CASTIEL: That was the tradeoff to restructuring the layout and allowing for more of a collaborative expanse --
DEAN: How long have you been....Um...?
CASTIEL: Time is an irrelevant means of reference in Heaven, Dean. I'm sure Bobby has already informed you of this.
DEAN: Yeah, yeah; time is fake. How long have you been, um, out of - you know - The Empty?
CASTIEL (dryly): Longer than a wing beat.
DEAN: Is this some sort of heaven-hallucination, or something?
CASTIEL: I'm not sure that's correct usage of hallucination in this case //
DEAN: // C'mon, Cas. (Beat.) Please.
CASTIEL: Jack needed to make some deep changes to the power supply of Heaven. There were so many Fallen Angels, and so many posts left unmanned, and a godly presence alone wasn't quite enough to stabilize Heaven while being restructured.
DEAN: Are you...back?
CASTIEL: I - I am restricted to Heaven. I cannot intercede in any requests from hunters below, if that's what you mean.
DEAN: This is all just a lot, right now.
DEAN glances down at the book. CASTIEL leans forward to look at it as well. Neither of them speaks, but THE IMPALA's radio starts up again, playing a snippet of the prior song:
<center>There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more</center>
CASTIEL: Have you visited that place with the barbeque onion ring cheeseburger?
DEAN: That's gotta be an 11 hour drive. You know, in distance, or whatever.
CASTIEL: We have the time.
DEAN: What if I miss...?
DEAN and CASTIEL look at the photo album. It's remained open on the seat, but the photo has changed. GARTH's son and SAM's son are holding hands and wearing color-coordinated blue suits. They look happy, but still awkward in a teenager posing for a parent sort of way - <i>Dean and Robbie's first prom.</i>
CASTIEL (gently): It's okay. (Pause.) We'll know when Sam arrives.

During quarantine, an unlikely source of comfort has emerged in my aunt’s collection of Elvis-inspired cookbooks No object is immune from Elvis-ification. The king’s face has been plastered on nearly every household item, from pillows to (somehow unironically) toilet paper. For cooking paraphernalia, Graceland offers a collection of kitchen tchotchkes for diehard fans, in addition to the Elvis-themed pot holders, cutting boards, and spoons on Amazon and Etsy. If you want to really bring the king of rock and roll into your kitchen, though, pick up one of the cookbooks. An entire cottage industry of Elvis “themed” cookbooks, most written by his former personal cooks or relatives banking on the Presley last name, popped up decades after Elvis’s death. The titles include The Wonder of You: The Elvis Fans Cookbook (1984) and The Wonder of You Volume II (1986), The Presley Family & Friends Cookbook (1998), The I Love Elvis Cookbook (1998), From Elvis’ Kitchen to Yours (2002), All Cooked Up (2005), The Presley Family Cookbook (2013), and easily the best title, Are You Hungry Tonight? (1992). I probably listen to Elvis more than the average millennial, but I’m no superfan. Despite that, a copy of that last one sat idle on my kitchen shelf in Brooklyn for years, gifted to me by an aunt who went through “a phase.” But while trapped at my family home in Los Angeles, I have recently found myself drawn to another title my aunt passed on, Fit for a King: The Elvis Presley Cookbook (1992). To cook from the book is to step back into the “simpler time” of midcentury America — or at least, a ’90s author’s vision of that simpler time — one peppered with the feelings that come with a collection of family recipes, foods passed down a few generations with rough instructions and eyeballed measurements. Like the re-surging victory garden trend that has inspired Americans to turn their anxiety into something actionable, it’s one means of comfort. But, unlike a victory garden, which you probably want to show off on social media, quarantining with Elvis offers the perfect excuse to eat like no one is watching. Like many people, I’m turning to rich food choices for comfort during this crisis, a task made all the easier by Fit for a King. The book reflects Elvis’s notorious appetite and hedonistic taste for fried and sugar-laden treats, and coaxes readers to make heaving dishes like an aggressive grandmother pushing seconds and thirds onto your plate without asking. During everyday life, when chickpeas and roasted veggies rule my diet, it’s hard to justify pouring gravy on breaded salt pork fried in bacon fat. After being cooped up for weeks, though, I say pass the gravy boat. You’re stuck at home for the foreseeable future. Go ahead, eat like a king. Fit for a King takes inspiration from descriptions of meals in professional biographies and firsthand accounts from Alvena Roy, the star’s cook for years, who provided some of the recipes. There are six ways to prepare pork chops, nine casseroles, nearly a dozen dips filled with cream cheese and mayo, and a whole lot of bacon and potatoes. A few dishes, like the peanut butter and banana sandwich (listed among the mains and served sans bacon), are drawn from Presley’s regular diet, but many come from one-off anecdotes — a particular Christmas dinner, a wedding feast, the time the Beatles stopped by for a midnight snack ( they supposedly enjoyed chicken livers wrapped in bacon, meatballs, deviled eggs, and fresh crab). The recipes are less like fine-tuned formulas and more like inspirational starting points, making cooking fun again, even in the middle of a crisis. They tend to be hit or miss (like other Elvis books I’ve come across, Fit for a King tends to emphasize lore over basic cooking logistics). The batter for fried cheese balls, for example, is impossibly gloopy and far too loose to roll in breadcrumbs, but a persistent cook (who rolls and rolls until a ball-ish thing forms) will find the results more consistent and lighter than expected, a perfect treat-yourself snack. Bacon-almond dip (cream cheese, sour cream, crumbled bacon, slivered almonds, scallions, hot sauce) combines the forces of an A-Team of umami flavors, as long as you let it come to room temp (straight out of the fridge, it’s thick enough to break a stalk of celery in half). After trying fried chicken breaded in pancake mix, which creates an incredible shattering crust, I plan to make it that way forever. I may even whip up a peanut butter and banana sandwich again when I need “Love Me Tender”-level comfort. When health officials are urging everyone to stock enough food for weeks, we should all aspire to a pantry like the one at Graceland. According to Fit for a King, Elvis’s kitchen was well stocked at all times with ground meat, a case each of Pepsi and “orange drinks,” Brown ‘n’ Serve hot rolls, at least six cans of biscuits, hamburger buns, pickles, potatoes, onions, assorted fruit, canned sauerkraut, “wieners,” three bottles of milk and half & half, bacon, banana pudding “to be made each night,” mustard, peanut butter, fresh orange juice, “ingredients for meat loaf and sauce,” brownies, ice cream, shredded coconut, fudge cookies, and gum (“spearmint, Doublemint, Juicy Fruit — three of each”). The list seems a little too long on sweets and a little too short on alcohol (Elvis preferred milkshakes to booze), and I kindly disagree with Elvis on soda preferences. Otherwise, I love most of these foods: If Elvis came out of hiding wherever he is and joined me under California’s shelter-in-place order, I think we’d ride out the pandemic together with minimal fights in the kitchen. Still, when shelter-in-place orders are lifted, restaurants reopen to provide customers with their triple-bacon fix, and healthyish home cooking trends spring back to life, it’ll be time for the Elvis cookbooks to go back on the shelf. But for a few months, stuck at home, go ahead and eat like a king. from Eater - All https://ift.tt/2VD4wJ3

Whew, lads, the 2020 Update video that DevSis just dropped...
First off, I can't even with the fact that they're working on introducing what is basically a "For Fun" and "For Glory" mode into the game because people have been complaining that things have gotten too easy.
Secondly... They've been listening to those of us who play the game more for the story campaigns and lore drops~! We're getting more of those as well as a proposed storybook function where people can rewatch past story-campaigns?! Hello?! Yes!
Pancake Cookie may be getting a Magic Candy due to the results of the newspaper event, who cares...
And they've confirmed that there's already 2-3 legacy Cookies coming in from past versions of the game in 2020.
This year's going to be so good for this game, guys, I'm so HYPED!
... Please bring Onion Cookie into the game without retconning her being Adventurer and Blackberry's daughter.

Just realized Onion is the reason Steven can only get Dave Guy from the vending machine in Onion Trade. He likes to hide in the vending machine and when Steven sees his office in Onion Friend he’s amazed that Onion has so many guys/gals, even the rare ones. Onion stole all the guys/gals and left Dave Guy. No wonder he rejects Steven’s increasingly desperate trade of a sack of Dave Guys; he could have had them at any time and already rejected them.

In the midst of all this pink angst I'd like to know what your take is on onion
ONION: Clearly deep lore. Clearly cursed. I believe pretty firmly that he can perceive the astral plane somehow, and I think his ability to teleport is not just a gag for the movie but canon. (possibly travel via mindscape? I’m not sure how he’s bringing his physical body along) He may know about Steven’s mom’s ghost?
Takeaways from reviewing Onion appearances that add up to that: Onion can understand written and spoken English, but only speaks mwah mwah and usually to people other than Steven. He likes to hang out inside a vending machine in Funland Arcade. There’s a running joke that he does criminal things and is a chaotic force - he’s been shown with a crowbar, stealing, destroying things, and entering other people’s places. Sometimes he breaks into Steven’s house and hides in his cabinets. He seems to adore Steven.
This got REALLY REALLY long so I’m putting it under a cut, but heres my pre finale Weird Deep Onion Lore Summary, if anyone cracks the onion lore I’d love to know.
He’s tried to convince Steven to kill an animal at least twice, and each time after Steven spares the animal, Onion shows him it’s still safe at the end. In Onion Trade, he demonstrates an ability to haggle for what he wants and then tricks Steven into giving him a magic artifact by trading Steven his own Ranger Guy toy. He steals Baby Melon. In Rising Tides/Crashing Skies, Ronaldo says, “You can’t keep quiet forever!” and Onion seems to dislike Ronaldo. He appears to recognize Steven in Lars’ body in The New Lars. He has no problem openly committing crime in Beach City, but won’t take credit for someone else’s crime in Doug Out.
Sometimes their surroundings go dim when Steven’s with him (sinister trade face in Onion Trade, the multiple power outages in Onion Friend when Steven is in Onion’s home, whistling to summon friends in Onion Gang) and I think this may have to do with astral lore somehow, not simply dramatic effect from Steven’s POV. His office seems to have Rose Quartz symbolism: it’s hidden behind a poster that says THE DOOR, down a dark vent/tunnel. It’s a warmly lit private room with a massive angelic portrait of Onion, on a blue background surrounded by white and pink bubbles and yellow and white stars (diamond colors). There’s a rug, some string lights, and a blue chest full of bubbled gems collectible figurines from the arcade machine he lives in at Funland. He offers Steven the coveted Rose Quartz Explorer Gal as a gift, and shows off a psychic ghost Invisible Gal to him as well.
Lore sidenote in case it’s relevant: in Monster Buddies we know someone can be teleported inside of a bubble and then break out if conscious; as of Gem Drill we know the consciousness - of both Steven and Cluster fragments - can create a bubble from within the mindscape that is also somehow in the physical world, bubbles seem to bridge the gap between astral lore and physical world. the bubbles are somewhat fragile and match the color of the gem who created it. In Kindergarten Kid (I think?) Peridot’s bubble goes somewhere other than the Temple, explained as “home”. So the creator of the bubble has something to do with the location it goes to, it’s not a property of the bubble itself. It’s possible “home” isn’t the only destination. Steven also sees a similar star when astral projecting in Escapism as appears on Onion’s portrait. Maybe this tells us something about how he teleports?
He seems genuinely afraid when Aquamarine and Topaz are hunting down Steven’s friends. His office is referenced again when he goes missing and Sour Cream is putting up posters. He talks to Topaz, and if mwah mwah language works the same way as the watermelon language (sometimes they have actual dialogue written and Zach is imitating the same syllables with mwahs, kinda like Pikachu’s voice actor) I think he might be saying “Topaz, help”? He says a Mwahmwah that really sounds like the way Aquamarine said Topaz a moment before. He’s frightened or startled to hear Aquamarine mention the Onion on Steven’s list. He has an odd look on his face when they enter the gem ship and seems calm but books it ASAP once they’re free.
And (support for possible teleporting Onion) at the end of I Am My Mom, he disappears into thin air at some point while Steven is giving himself up. (He’s not shown in the reaction shots with everyone)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He has a couple cameos where he looks directly at the camera; I know he does it in Raising the Barn and What’s Your Problem. In Reunited he points out the Diamond ships arriving on Earth and he looks neutral while everyone around him looks afraid, despite his fear during the Aqua/Topaz debacle. In Change Your Mind while Lion (Rose) is looking up at the Diamonds, Onion is looking up but in the opposite direction. In the movie ofc he teleports around. He also cries out to Lion for help and Lion rushes over to help him when the town is falling apart.
In Future he has still been weird and appeared in a lot of episodes. In Guidance, Smoky somehow misses him when getting everyone off the rollercoaster in slow-mo, but he’s riding in it again while it floats in the sea. He’s funny and weird during the acting bits of AVSE, including the “NEVER LEAVE” collage, his psychic waving doll (ROSE QUARTZ?) and pied-piper whistling a bunch of LH Gems off a cliff. There’s some kinda message there but I’m not high enough to understand anything related to Onion in a coherent way. He showed up in Steven’s dream in In Dreams, too. Back in the first series, he’s strangely realistic in Rose’s Room - legit, all this spooky Onion stuff put together HAS to mean he’s related to the astral projection mindscape bullshit right???
Here’s my most galaxy brain pre-finale Onion headcanon: The reason Onion showed Steven his tape in Onion Friend is because Onion has seen Steven’s tape from Rose Quartz or knows about it from her. It sounds like an explicit birth video but is labeled “Happy Birthday Onion” kinda like Steven’s is “For Steven”, and ofc Onion can read, so my headcanon is he didn’t receive that tape from Vidalia but found it himself, following Steven’s example.
I’m suspicious he might have a connection to the pyramid temple story (just bc that mural is the last unexplained bit of astral lore, who knows if it’s gonna come up in Steven’s story at all, there’s not much time left) but have very little to base that on. Onion is a big fat mystery and I’d love to know what ideas people have about him.
