… that little odd sentiment actually caused Arienette pause, mid-ribbon-pull,even though she refused to look up from the ballet slippers she’d put on.

She knows Zira’s brighter than she is, accepts she may see something she doesn’t. Much better education, intense drive– though, Ari could argue they share that urge for achieving their greatest selves, even if their goals are so very different– and all that experience with independence…

“Every show needs a director,” back to the shoes, this time rougher than before, determined. “Every star needs a manager,” a learned foot switch left her airborne a moment, until the opposite sole found a resting point on the other thigh, more ribbons and lacing. “Every dream needs a plan…”

Arienette’s entire existence has been concocted by Mother’s dictating. She’s well aware of it, would never refute her lacking control: but she’s found a sort of peace within that pull, equally as strong as the disdain she knows others would hold for it. 

“You may do splendidly with your one man show, I have no doubt-” not a trace of sarcasm, surprisingly: Arienette absolutely doesn’t question Zira’s capability to dictate herself. “Some of us require a bit more direction to put on the perfect play…” 

and life’s a stage, isn’t it? is to Ari… more a floor show than a mountain to conquer. She’ll leave all that sorta success to the smart ones.
