I think people trying to offer one-size-fits-all litmus tests for mixed people in the notes of that whiteness poll aren’t accounting for the varieties of experiences mixed people can have based on a great deal of factors- local sociopolitical norms, friend and peer groups, personal closeness to one’s heritage, etc. experiences are also dependent on what the person’s non-white race and how non-mixed people within that race tend to view mixed-white people. A lot of the suggested litmuses are based on appearance but even that can be subjective on the eye of the beholder

#one person’s suggested litmus was would you make it through a sundown town… meh?#my appearance has always been rather ambiguous where some recognize me as wasian and others mistake me for latine and still others can’ta #-tell I’m anything other than white #some people don’t know what to make of me at all I’ve gotten a lot of ‘’what *are* you?’’ and ‘’where are you *from*?’’ in my life also #in my personal experience white people have tended to zero in on my different-ness and forget that I’m still white too #once they’ve learned I’m asian that is
