Listening to the CONNECTION EP from Onew is a good start to the new year. He never disappoints when it comes to delivering shawols and fans quality music. Every time he releases something new I can't help but smile and enjoy his infectious vibes. The soft sweet silky vocals that always light up my mood no matter how I'm feeling. The cutest and brightest smile that makes me happy seeing him happy. Lee Jinki is the epitome of sunshine.

bg covering male songs: 1. maniac (orig. by conan gray) cover by p1harmony - lowkey made me a p1ece/jiung stan i love the aesthetics of the video and their vocals so much and intak/jongseobs raps r such a great addition <3 2. ilysb (orig. by lany) cover by the rose - my gateway to the rose... woosungs voice is one of my favorites ever 3. beautiful (orig. by crush) cover by wayv kun & xiaojun - i've heard a lot of different covers of this song but this one is still my favorite (i am very biased)

can I ask you a question, now this is 4th time this week I'm seeing someone on ig claiming it was Tae who made BTS famous. But is it really? From what I'm seeing it's their songs and contents different from other kpop groups, amazing rapline which most kpop groups lack, JK being a terrific vocalist, JM being the best performer and being naked IT BOY, Joon speaking English to navigate through western interviews made them famous. So I don't see where Tae comes in this equation 🤔 If I have to choose 3 main members bts can't do without it will be Jimin, JK and Joon. Because imagine a concert one of them is not performing.. it will be disaster compared to Yoongi or Tae or Jin not performing.
This is both heartbreaking and intellectually stimulating. Let's get into it🤣
Performance wise, i don't think you can do without Hobi, JM, JK and Tae in my humble opinion. Especially in that particular order😩
To that end I'll distinguish between dancers and dance influencers. Hobi JM JK Tae are dancers but Hobi JM are the dance influencers. Their unique dance background influences and inspires the performances bts put out.
We can't compare mere dancers with dance artists I'm sorry. Tae Kook are great dancers but Hopemin are the dance artists of the group and without their input and vision and artistry BTS would be STB.
Vocal wise, you can't do without Jin, Hobi, Jimin and Tae💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀(in no particular order. I'll expatiate further on this hold on)
Visual wise, you can't do without all of them these days🥴
I mean exhibit A
Its embarrassing to say but- daddy pappito🥵🥵🥵🥵
Makes me want to crawl under his desk obediently🥴
But back in the day??????? Back in the day visuals was jx Jin, JM and may be Tae I'm sorry. Jm was half way in between boy, non-binary, and stud- thank God for their glow ups🤣🤣🤣🤣
I say JM was a visual because he looked more cut chiseled and met the ideal male body beauty standards which is why hybe constantly over sexualized him.
I recall Joon saying they all worked out thinking they were going to flaunt their bodies only to be told by the company JM was the only one who was going to display his body- even though he didn't want to and felt some way about it. Jin had the face, and broad shoulders, JM had the abs🥴
These days they are all visuals in their own right.
Jk is the vocal lead yes and carry most of their songs true.. but sometimes I feel Jin Hobi and Tae could easily replace him on most songs and they would be just fine😩😩😩😩😩😩😩
This is not to belittle his efforts contribution and talents at all. It's just sometimes I feel they share certain lines to certain members just so no one is left out but honestly sometimes they are just vocally redundant 🥴
Especially considering the genre of music they choose to make which really doesn't require diverse vocal ranges.
Tae does so well with low notes, Jimin and Jin do so well with higher notes. Jk cannot replace Tae or Jimin- he can do what they do, but sometimes even he complains he struggles with certain notes because if Jimin and Jin.
Tae has equally ever complained its hard to harmonize with Jm's high note.
I'm not playing favorites when I say, JM has one of the most unique voices in BTS. He and Tae to me have very different very unique vocal ranges so really they are core pillars of the group too. By that I mean we can't do without them. If this was a game, I wouldn't eliminate either one of them.
But of course, back in the day none of these members had developed their voices and talents. Jimin was but a rapper and hadn't spent much time training his voice to sing.
So within the context of their early days, JK was the vocal king of BTS which earned him lead.
Then there's Hobi and all rounder. Super underrated that one. He can sing sing, rap and dance and these days he's a visual- stage presence is impeccable, he's unproblematic, kind, generous- BTS 2.0 is going to be chaotic cos some of us are getting bias wrecked already🤣
Jk is an all rounder much like Hobi. Which means you either save him and eliminate all the others off the board or you can eliminate him and the others much like pawns will fit right into his shoes- and depending on their individual limits they can either become bishops but never Queens 🥴
Most times I feel wow, Hobi could easily double as a vocalist because he sings well, and he has a beautiful singing voice too.
So I place him on the same scale as JK😩
If I had to rank characters on the board, Hobi would be my Queen for Sure- chess reference if you play chess.
When I hear BTS, really I can't think of them as anything but 7 member group.
They will struggle without Suga's musical genius, without Hobi's dance mentorship, without Namjoon's leadership. So to me these three, Suga, Hobi, RM are quite fundamental to the day to day functioning of the group. Let's call them the core pillars of BTS.
These three alone however may not necessarily make for a global boyband on their own
For Tae, he was the fan recruit executive who could easily turn fans. He was likeable relatable, funny and a joy to watch- personally I'm trauma bonded to him especially after his Naana passed and the while hybe hiding him before debut bit🤧
As he matured he mastered the art of pleasing fans also. He knew very much what the audience wanted and he gave it to them- he's still good at giving it to them- my Fan service King🤭 Remember he kissed Jin and said he knew fans would love that? He knows us, he understands us, he's one of us 🥴
He was very popular among fans, even to this day on IG he has the biggest following out of all the boys and BTS back then was of the view putting him on thumbnails would yield high clicks. Joon ever said that to JK if I recall- unless the translations were off then🥴
BTS have a view it's Army that has made them, they rarely talk about their hard work and talents and how that is what has opened so many doors for them.
So when Joon talks about JM and Tae he's talking about in different senses I feel. For him, his talent and efforts inspired BTS to broaden their scope, take on certain songs and performances that shaped and defined them and got them their breakthrough.
Tae also helped build their fanbase and attract rabid loyal fans.
I feel that this discussion ought to be viewed in context- in the context of 7 boys from different backgrounds with varying strengths and weaknesses being held to different beauty standards.
I mean imagine hybe signing Jin on because he's beautiful- remember Joon told Jin he wanted to hear he's handsome from him because he is the most handsome out of the group?
Jin is the ideal Kdrama lead Character in kpop frfr however that's not what attracts people to him🥴
These boys, young insecure being told daily this person or that person ought to be center cos they look better than yall or they dance better than yall- you should understand how that shapes their understanding of what made them successful. But truth is they all had a part to play in their journey to success and none of them was dispensable.
For JM he's there because he's a unique dancer, yet vocally they didn't know where to place him. He wasn't even signed on to sing from the beginning but imagine if he hadn't decided to switch and just remained a rapper- hybe would have had to toss him out at some point for sheer lack of passion for rap🥴
If suga had stayed in his comfort zone and not danced......... that that I like that 😭😭😭😭
They've pushed their own limits, refined themselves, found their places in the group and I think they each bring so much to the table severally and jointly that it's impossible to attribute the success of the group to just one individual.
That said, I think for some members, their role in the group should never be understated. The dance directors Hobi, Jimin, the song producers (Suga, RM), and the social engineers (Tae, JM) whose love, kindness, patience, understanding and humanity kept them together for so many years as a group. Left to the ghetto ninjas like Jin and JK they wouldn't talk to eachother let alone vibe cos who has time to nurture relationships when they could be playing video games all day of their lives🥴

I need more music to listen, so unleash your reccomendations
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh dear I never get to talk about music enough so pardon me if I explode all over you
(Links are to songs that are both faves and good places for a newcomer to start.)
Taylor Swift - Yeah yeah she's a household name but no kidding, she has 10 albums spanning several genres and I can guarantee you that she has at least some songs that you will permanently add to your rotation. Google around for a good place to start and dive in (...or just ask me because I will gladly help you out).
Taemin - He's been known as 'the Michael Jackson of kpop' for years now, but what's wild is that he started at Michael and has since grown into a dancer and performer all his own. The only kpop artist I fully stan. His singles never. ever. miss.
Delta Rae - Incredible folk/country/Americana band from the state I live in with male and female vocalists. They are criminally underrated because they were liberal country artists before that was even remotely possible. Seen them live twice, met them twice, they are the most genuine people and outstanding artists.
Amanda Palmer - Originated as The Dresden Dolls, a duo that invented the 'punk cabaret' indie subgenre, and has been a solo artist for like 15 years at this point? Intense piano, intense lyrics, intense everything (the linked song is the anthem for girls with daddy issues). Objectively the most personal lyrics I've ever heard. Voice may take a second to adjust to. Not made for mainstream and doesn't want to be. One of the most important artists to me, personally.
Marianas Trench - Pop/punk perfection (but also simply genre chameleons) with a musical mastermind at its core. One of the best vocalists. Most albums end with an opus arrangement of the songs that came before and it's life changing.
Pink - People don't realize how powerful her vocals are and how incredible her lyricism can be. A pop icon. This bitch raised me, forever grateful.
Halsey - If all you know is Without Me and Closer, you haven't heard Halsey. Every album is outstanding but hopeless fountain kingdom doesn't have a single misplaced sound. It's pretty freakish actually.
Chvrches - Sheer and utter synthpop perfection, every single song. The one I linked is one of my favorite songs of all time, period.
MUNA - Queer girls making queer indie pop. Great lyrics, immaculate vibes. Recently opened for Taylor Swift on the Eras Tour, and well deserved.
The Midnight - 80s/90s synth like you can't even believe. Saxophone for days.
Imogen Heap - A genius and pop legend. Her greatest song was sampled in something god awful and got meme-d to death, I don't wanna talk about it. If a pop artist does breathy vocals, 95% chance they're doing it because of Imogen. She sang me happy birthday. Haven't been alive since.
Rina Sawayama - THIS BITCH. Falls under pop but never met a genre she couldn't master. Stayed in the game into her late twenties (which is geriatric by pop standards), when she finally blew up a bit. A variety of sounds, some of them strange, but all of them brilliant in one way or another (even if you don't personally vibe with it).
Troye Sivan - Twink icon whose first two albums were as gay as they were pop brilliance. I don't care much for his newest work, but you might.
Alice Merton - She's the girl with that Roots song from a few years back. Two albums now, both genius. Unique voice, varied sound but with a distinct Florence oomph to it.
Ava Max - UN. DER. RATE. D. Classic, anthemic pop. Vocals for DAYS. Music so infectious you have it on loop for days. So much more than Sweet but Psycho.
Kesha - I prefer recent Kesha to her classic dance pop madness, personally. She grew into an amazing artist who can blend her weird ass dance flavor with her more mature sounds in a way that doesn't really seem possible.
Bishop Briggs - Nobody has a voice like this. A sort pop/alternative vibe that can be anthemic as easily as it can be dark.
The Chicks - Icons for a reason. Their most recent album, written by the main lyricist after leaving her husband of 20 years for cheating on her left right and sideways, is one of the best break up albums of all time. Period.
The Civil Wars - They only lasted long enough to make two albums, but both are flawless. Nobody will ever harmonize quite like them. Folk/country in the most *beautiful* way possible.
Evanescence - 2000s rock with with a stunning female writer and vocalist whose melodies are simply beyond compare when we're talking about their stuff from 2003-2006. Goth, dramatic, hard hitting, cathartic.
Freya Ridings - Adele but make it a touch more contemporary. Gorgeous deep voice, lots of ballads but her up tempo stuff is just as good.
Billie Eilish - If you haven't heard her first album yet or her early EPs, you need to. Nobody that young should have that much of a grasp of music and her place in it.
Foxes - Underrated pop queen! I have yet to hear a bad song from her, but her latest album is quintessential synthpop mastery.
Jukebox the Ghost - Piano pop/rock. It's actually too much fun to listen to them, tbh.
Kelly Clarkson - Listen, her latest album follows directly after The Chicks' on the string of ultimate divorce albums we've gotten from pop icons lately. I've loved Kelly forever, but in bits and pieces. Her latest album is her strongest project to date, easily.
Labrinth - I do not comprehend what this genius does with music. Electronic, experimental, metaphorical, personal, just something else. Did the music for Euphoria, but his first solo album was an experience and a half.
Lorde - Everybody tells you to listen to Melodrama because you should.
Maisie Peters - Everybody calls everybody else 'the next Taylor Swift,' and they're wrong. It's this girl.
Marina and the Diamonds - SUCH a unique voice, lyrics that are way too smart for mainstream pop.
Patrick Wolfe - A deep-voiced violinist who released a pop album in 2011 that I still listen to because I'm a sucker for pop laced with classical instruments and it's just that good.
Owen Pallett - A higher-toned violinist with more of an indie approach, coming up with concepts and melodies that would go well with an A24 film.
Emilie Autumn - Violin-fueled industrial/pop/metal, often with Victorian leanings. Visceral lyrics on mental illness, depression, bipolar, suicidal ideation, sexual assault, sometimes with a satirical bent or through a historical lens. Voice might take a second to get used to, it's unique and she does unique things with it (including "ugly" sounds on purpose) but once it clicks it clicks hard. Opheliac and Fight Like A Girl are good starting places.
The Veronicas - Underrated (yet oddly influential?) pop icon twins from the early 2000s to now. Killer voices, KILLER pop.

suggest me more groups(male/female) like 2ne1 (vocal wise)
suggest me more groups(male/female) like 2ne1 (vocal wise) I love kpop but honestly i haven't listened to many songs. If i start getting into any band, i listen to their whole discography and watch contents. Because kpop produces so many content, i have only been able to catch up with 2-3 groups. 2ne1 is my most favorite group ever, their songs are amazing, especially the ballads. "If I were you" is undoubtedly one of my favorite songs of all time, not just in kpop. I love their strong vocal, stage presence and the emotions they convey. It has a grip on me even if I can't understand most of the lyrics. So, fellow true kpop stans, I would love some suggestions. Not necessarily groups, but more strong songs like theirs. Agust D - D-Day
Song average 8.7. 10.0.
- I’m kind of putting this off for some reason, not totally sure why.
I have a … storied history with this album. Haegum was the first kpop song by a male artist that i’d ever heard (except ofc Psy). Likewise, D-Day was the first kpop album by a male artist I’d ever heard. It was also my introduction to kpop hip hop, and it’s probably the first thing I’d ever heard that was primarily written and produced by an idol themselves. And People Pt. 2 was the first IU song I’d ever heard, too.
I definitely didn’t appreciate this album the first time I’d heard it. But I gradually grew to enjoy Haegeum, and obviously People Pt. 2 was a mainstay on my playlist. But the more I learned about kpop in general, and Yoongi in particular, the more i wanted to hear his other stuff. So I started with Agust D, and then I went to D-2, and now it’s time to come fill circle and revisit D-Day.
But I’ve already spoiled myself a bit. I listened to the album start to finish (without lyrics) yesterday, and then today I watched the documentary. I will almost certainly not score anything on this album below a 7, and I suspect this might be my highest rated album overall so far. We will see what happens.
Maybe I’m putting this off because I don’t want it to be over. I still want there to be some mystery in what the lyrics are, what the songs mean.
Oh well.
D-Day
Love the opening here
God, I really love the aggressive autotune
9/10
Haegeum
I love this MV
I wonder why it’s the exact same plot as Daechwita
Hey look, it’s a Haegeum
Look? More like listen? Hey listen?
Freedom, liberation
But what the actual hell does this music video mean?
8/10 honestly, in fact it might just be one of the weaker songs on the album
Huh?! (feat. J-Hope)
“You don’t know anything about me but you want to be me,” interesting
This feels straight out of Agust D, lyrically
7/10, honestly this is probably my least favorite song on the album. It’s not very interesting lyrically, it’s not very interesting musically, and I don’t think J-Hope adds much to the song at all
Amygdala
What, there’s a trigger warning? On a youtube video? That’s interesting
Continuing with the aggressive autotune
But it really does work so well
Oh yeah, the scar!
9/10
SDL
Oh okay, “somebody does love”
Who does the female vocals?
Adora, dunno her
8/10 for the female vocals
People Pt. 2 (feat. IU)
Wait this has an MV?
!!! I never knew that!!
God I just love the harmonies back there
I should look at these lyrics side by side with part 1
Ohhh this is SDL part 2 isn’t it, that’s what he meant in the documentary, must be
10/10, totally biased, but … this song introduced me to IU.
Polar Night
When I first listened to this album, I saved Haegeum, People Pt. 2, and this song to my playlist
I would later remove this song
8/10
Interlude : Dawn
Because dawn comes after you dream
Jesus, this is so nice
9/10
Snooze
10/10
Life Goes On
9/10

Like you (maybe? You had put a question mark) I am jm biased as well. The reason I got into bts was because of his unique tone. I can admit that, yes, jimin has times and days where his vocals aren't up to par, but I believe that it started happening when Bh led him down that higher voice road. I am in love with jm's lower register, it's always been my favorite but the higher tone .....for some reason I don't think it's his actual voice, if it was, he would've started out with it.
I like jk as well, jk on a vocal level is good but his performances.....🥴. My time is the most cringe performance I have ever seen. I get second hand embarrassment everytime and I can't watch it fully through. The world cup performance was lack luster as well. Jk as a vocalist is good, he's stable and he has that pop boy voice but that's it. There's no flavor. There's nothing about his voice that makes me want to listen to a full album.
And I know it might seem like I'm hating...I'm really not. Like you, I voice my opinions, even if others disagree, which I know you might since it seems like you're jk biased as well. Though it seems like you're more jk biased than jm's 🤭.
Then I saw you talked about jm's stage presence.....I must say I disagree. I'm confused, honestly.
What makes you jm biased cause you don't like his stage presence, and it doesn't seem like you like his vocals......so what is it that you like about him? Is it the jikook ship or something? Maybe I'm missing something 😭
Anon you might as well dm me so we can talk 🤭 I'll try to answer every part of this
1. The lore is that I was a hardcore jimin biased army from i need u to dna, and then switched sides to become a bts hater due to an avalanche of reasons (not writing that essay here). But through that time I would occasionally check up on them or find myself thinking hmm.... Bts sure do suck, but Jungkook has done nothing wrong ever and he is the Best and most talented kpop boy in the world and I hate bts but I love him. In fact i can tell you the exact time and date this switch started happening. I was already one foot out the door at this point.
Which I guess turned out to be true 🥴 I'm in my 2nd bts era rn, I plan to catch up with everything, and the second I started consuming content again it was apparent Jimin is my actual bias, not Jungkook. (i never resented jimin but liking him and the rest of bts was very cringe. I could write an essay on this.)
2. I think jimins voice does naturally fall in the higher range. Korean karaoke machines have tone settings, to switch songs by girls to a male register and vice versa, and in in the soop they made a point that Jimin switched to a higher range and Tae was like nooo. But just because that head voice comes natural doesn't mean it's usable anywhere besides heavily processed studio adlibs. He has never been able to sing any one of his 'high notes' live and im tired of pretending he did. I do love his lower register as well, as you might've seen in my posts about 'ma city' and 'danger'. I'd love if you sent me some more examples of your favourite of his vocal moments
6. I switched to jk because of his talent but I was jm biased because of his personality and that imo is way more important when it comes to idols. It's just that some people will act fake and be like "noo jimin totallyyy sung live!! No his voice didn't crack you're an anti!!" but im straight up about it. Idc about talent (i mean it doesn't hurt that hes the second best dancer but if he danced like jin i don't think it would change my mind). I first fell in love with his fat ass and thighs, his thick lips and chipped tooth and tiny pinky finger, then realized he's a fairy angel gangyangi baby boy, the self-proclaimed fake maknae, i think he's a person born to receive love and imo the only one who seems comfortable no matter who they're paired up with in the group? Maybe that's eering into delulu teritory but I'm a big 'soft cute jimin being doted on by everybody' truther. He's mochi to me. Jikook has nothing to do with it and I only started shipping it when they MADE me ship it, with adult ceremony and saying shit like 'i want him' in that one seasons greetings dvd
3. I watched my time just for you anon, and it's not that cringe!?? Maybe bc I opened a version with eng subs and immediately clicked out and found one without, so idk the subject matter but his vocals and stage presence are great? You'll have to tell me what you dislike about it. Dreamers is just.... The "of bts" is bigger than "jungkook" and that's obvious. He definitely wouldn't be able to make it without a group, but I don't think any of them would.
4. You're absolutely right that he's flavourless!! And posting your opinions is good, you should absolutely do it publicly!!! That's the problem with being a jack of all trades- he's a master of none. I get the appeal of any of the rest of the tannies vocal tones. And literally every time there's confusion about who is singing, jungkook the chameleon is at the crime scene. He's just a blank slate in life too, it's insane. He's the only idol who can genuinely go from cutie bunny to sexy sangnamja and pull off the edgy pierced tattoed look as well as the innocent flower boy vibe. And I'm saying that sincerely. There's a reason his stereotyping in fanfic ranges so wildly, from jock to nerd and from alpha to omega. I get what you mean about not desiring a full solo album from him but I'm in the majority boat of 'as long as the song is good idc who sings it' and that's why he has the potential to do well internationaly.
5. About stage presence.... I just watched 6 hours of fancams trying to formulate my point and ended up more confused than I was before 🫠. I'll try to sum it up.
Hoseok performs like he was born to do it. His facial expressions are an equal part of his dancing as his body, and he dances like he would die of he couldn't. He's an entertainer, a performer, he's energetic and electric on the stage, and in my mind's eye I cant even imagine him slacking off the way I'm about to describe for Jimin. I wouldn't say he owns the stage, but he definitely owns the largest part of it while still working in harmony with the rest of the team.
Jungkook is an idol group Center. And I specifically mean the jpop senbatsu model, where they all dance the same dance, no formations, but there is one fixed Center for every single. Jungkook is that. He's the one who will stand in the middle, represent the group while people dance and rap to the left and right of him. He's the one who will do the basic choreography so that the rest can add their flares to it, the one who will sing the whole song in the studio so that others can give their adlibs and harmonies. He will face the public head-on and he does it great
And here is the main difference between both of them vs jimin, and in my view the most important measure of stage presence: Eyes.
Specifically, where are your eyes when the camera isn't on you?
Everyone talks about Jimin's sexy gaze. Sure, fine. He has his killer parts. He has the moments in the songs tailor made for the camera to zoom in on him and capture his sexy expression. But... When that camera leaves and moves on to the next member... The audience is still there. And that's what Jimin seems to forget.
His default seems to be looking at the floor. He often seems like he's there just to dance, like he's counting the beats in his head, just waiting for His Part, or hyping himself up to Make A Facial Expression. His face doesn't dance like Hoseok's does, expressing the emotions of each song perfectly- he doesn't look straight on at the audience like Jungkook does, cocky and confident. He has two moods- serious and goofy. He's serious most of the time. Which means most of the time he looks and acts like a very good back up dancer, who is occasionally VERY GOOD at posing for the camera. And that's my other point- his face doesn't dance, it poses. There's a reason why in my time in the fandom I always saved fantakens of him but never watched any fancams. He's good at Posing. And making that face. And raising that eyebrow, or winking, or splaying out that tongue (something he does A Lot). He's good at being coquettish and flirty and inviting. For a few seconds before he gets... Embarrassed. It's all so scripted. It's all pre-planned, never spontaneous like H and Jk seem to be.
As I said, I watched fancams up to dna + fake love and boy with luv. Reflective on my opinion on him as a whole, I think he does marginally better in concepts like bwl, where he doesn't feel the pressure of being sexy- he can play around a bit and be goofy. Nothing is more emblematic of this than his war of hormone era fancams, which I watched and literally GASPED because.. That's what I want from him!!! Always!!!! That playfulness, that flirting with the audience, not just the camera!!! If you're still reading this, please go watch a woh era jimin fancam. It will change your life.
So I guess you can say I'm being too subjective and some people will find his blank expression and dead eyes very sexy. Sure. But I will forever prefer him SMILING to him doing any other expression (which all seem to blur into nothing) and I sincerely hope in my journey through the rest of their career I will find more instances of him owning the stage. I'll update. But having seen snippets of like crazy and some other songs... I doubt it 😔

FLUFF
since baekhyun knows how to make scented candles, he creates one for you as a birthday present with your favorite fragrances.
every entry in mark’s diary involves fond thoughts about you.
taemin kisses you more than his cat kkoongie on a daily basis so let that sink in. his smooch obsession is getting out of hand.
lucas, having giant fingers after all, learns how to knit in order to make you a warm scarf. he’s still a bit clumsy with it and had to call kun for advice, but the result is surprisingly proper and quickly becomes your favorite item. it’s a little huge but well, he thinks in his dimensions. lucas’ next project is a beanie.
ten overwhelms you with pet names. in fact, he seemingly seems to come up with a new one each day.
kai is a candlelight dinner, rose petals and music kinda guy. he does every old-school thing in the book.
taeyong can cuddle endlessly in bed. he just doesn’t wanna leave.
lucas gladly shares his sweaters. they’re ginormous so, perfect cuddle material.
baekhyun is already a fool. so — when he falls in love, he becomes an even bigger fool. or, the contrary happens: he becomes dead silent around his partner because he’s so enthralled. he can take this more seriously than you think.
mark likes to write little cards and many many texts to express his love.
lucas is the type who can help you put on your jeans when they were shrinking a bit too much in the dryer. he’s pretty sexy like that and things can get really touchy.
cheesy fucking kai, and there’s only one guy who would do this, has actually lowered himself over a puddle once so you would have a bridge. brushed it off like a daily workout rep.
not one shower missed without baekhyun joining you. yes, it’s not always sexy time, he likes it when you shampoo his hair and whisper sweet nothings. and obviously: it’ll all devolve to a laughing fit.
taeyong is the type who wants to be proposed to.
taemin will get a motorcycle license and take you for a frequent ride. he loves getting those kind of back hugs.
both ten and lucas are great at making bracelets. wayv’s dorm is fully equipped with charms, strings, and pearls, so expect matching ones for you.
we’ve seen it, that one’s his favorite move. kai wraps his hand around your shoulder when you walk together.
mark will ALWAYS share his melon.
making you swoon on a DVD evening is lucas’ favorite hobby. he will buy you the most sugary-sweet romance movies. he will often browse streaming sites to select the latest sentimental plots. all these dramas seem to have a male lead who is suspiciously tall and lanky.
if you allow him, taeyong customizes your white tees with his cute drawings.
since taemin swims in money thanks to his profession as the god of kpop (yes, this is a registered job name because i say so), he can fulfill you any wish. he’s stingy and pouty when the shinee hyungs can pay, and the motherfucker baekhyun is even richer since his albums have been taking off so he opens his mochi wallet when superm is gathered, but you... are a different case. taemin will humbly empty his entire pockets when he overhears you gushing over something. there’s a voice in his mind going: must splurge!!
mark loves christmas, you establish an annual tradition to stage a whole couple evening.
baekhyun likes to play charades and especially do karaoke with you. he’s always cutely wiggling his butt and dances like a drunk uncle. he hits the high notes anyway and makes sure you score 100 points.
taeyong can make out with you while at the same time making sure that the milk doesn’t get burned on the stove. kiss’n’stirr multitask tyong alert. gotta make sure the cocoa is served in time, you know.
all the members enjoy playing board games. yep, imagine the fun and sheer chaos.
lucas has the funniest laugh ever indeed. he’ll react to all your jokes, no matter how lame they might be. intensely reassuring.
taemin’s hand is basically glued to yours.
taeyong and mark are the kinds of boyfriends that spoil their partner with skincare. fancy a nice face massage with a nice fragrant oil?
baekhyun has been baking heart-shaped pizzas ever since you started dating. he just can’t make them round anymore.
mark will join you on anything you’re currently bingewatching.
kai sometimes — only half-jokingly — goes down on both knees bowing forward with his hands on the ground just to show how much he wants to thank you. in case you didn’t notice: this guy treats you like a deity.
ten usually gets confused glances from the other members whenever he gets the current date wrong: he simply loses track of time with you.
lucas makes a habit of buying you flowers every other week. but on unpredictable occasions, and he arranges them in places you’d never expect.
taemin will build you a weird-looking snowman to make you laugh, and give it an even stranger name. ten will build one that looks like you. kai doesn’t build snowmen, he just stands there challenging you to throw snow balls at him.
mark will hang out with you at the beach constantly bringing his guitar. he’ll serenade you all the time.
returning from three months of touring, baekhyun has once climbed your balcony when your parents were in the other room. yep, he was that desperate to see you. somebody give this man a rope and helmet.
taeyong writes down heartfelt confessions on 365 folded slips of paper so you can open one every day. your reactions will range from ‘awwh!’ to straight-up tears.
ten does regular couple yoga with you. a mildly challenging form, not the circus acrobat version. he’ll do the difficult parts anyway. you can pretzel this guy up, he’ll do anything to make you laugh.
when it rains you hook your arm around his, and lucas always holds the umbrella. even the wildest gush of wind can’t make it turn inside out. you arrive home entirely dry. xuxi is so cute, he’s also a great source of cooling shadow in the summer without even trying.
taemin’s skinship overdrive doesn’t stop with endless hand-holding, back hugs and kisses. he wants to lay down in your lap whenever he can. he looks damn pretty with his hair splaying there. if you work on your laptop, you can pretty much count to ten and he’s already nestled there.
kai does pushups with you on his back. it’s a staple. each time he does one, he says ‘i love you’. he increases his count every day.
NSFW
it’s no secret that taeyong is great at acting or pulling off any outfit and costume. expect roleplay of the finest kind — literally. he looks good in a firefighter uniform. you’ll be burning up pretty much automatically.
taemin can’t keep his tongue in. it’s terrible. he’s always in the mood for head. his sloppy noises are the absolute worst, it turns you on way too fast.
lucas had some major problems finding condoms that fit him.
ten and taemin are so switchy, they have an unresolved power struggle going on. begs for a dominant third party to help them out.
kai owns expensive latex gear.
baekhyun may be the king of vocals and breath technique, but if you push him far enough he does get hoarse.
taemin often jokes how kai will one day break his dick from fucking too hard.
meanwhile, mark’s dick is already falling off – from fucking too often. this guy has some major hormones going for him. no surprise, a guy who can promote in four kpop groups at the same time is a stamina king.
taeyong likes eating pussy with another party involved. three’s a crowd my friend. sometimes it’s taemin who unleashes his spit waterfall power, sometimes it’s baekhyun who preoccupies himself with nibbling at the inner thigh while taeyong digs in.
taemin owns the most underwear.
mark takes valerian drops because he is so nervous in bed. it never really goes away, it’s his nature.
taeyong keeps a lube collection. a different flavor for all occasions. he likes associating certain scents with specific body parts.
kai has a heels kink. he literally goes wild over it.
taemin likes to have sex with favorite glasses on.
taeyong and kai are the most likely to cry during sex. baekhyun as well if you rough him up enough.
mark gets rock hard the fastest, followed by kai. he’s a grower.
taeyong gets the best inspiration for a song when he gets a casual dick riding.
taemin watches extremely x-rated erotic thrillers and bdsm flicks that are heavy on the plot. he gets more invested in the characters and actors than you think. since his japanese is amazing? of course he also owns a giant 90s hentai collection.
when he’s jerking off, baekhyun chokes himself. a) because he’d make too much noise otherwise and b) because asphyxiation is his favorite thing.
kai feels pleasure in his every cell. he cums the hardest. and, as you can expect, his body expresses it the most extremely, accurately, passionately. if you’ve seen it even once, you’ll never look at him the same again.
taemin has less experience than his discography claims, but more than you’d think. he researches sexual techniques as well. you can brace yourself.
mark has not just a tiger inside, but a freak inside, waiting to be unleashed.
sex while gaming is a go-to activity for baekhyun.
lucas has the best stamina when it comes to getting head.
taemin throws his head back during sex. and no, he doesn’t T-pose. i’m kidding — of course he does. but only when he’s on his back.
taeyong tends to grip a pillow when he cums.
or he humps one when he’s by himself.
ten has the best taste in sexy time playlists.
baekhyun has the best taste in singing his own playlist along.
oh, the things kai has bought at a gas station at 3AM.
baekhyun sucks strap the best. he can open his mouth the widest, drools a lot, and makes the best noises unsurprisingly.
how to turn on lee taemin? he likes getting slapped.
since he’s the most avid and most diverse eater, lucas’ sperm tastes the best. he’s shove 50 fruits into his system just to give you a sweet experience.
mark is absolutely a starfish.
kai wears fishnet tops if you fancy it.
curiously, baekhyun out of all people doesn’t announce when he’s cumming. you’ll hear it, though.
taeyong’s dildo collection is one for the books.
taemin has visited a pro dominatrix a couple times. needless to say, he was the #1 favorite client at the dungeon. having fully submerged into a fantasy world, taemin was one whip crack away from falling in love with the mistress. but then covid happened and the venue closed.
mark’s dick looks really pretty.
taemin can grind on the strap at every humanly possible angle. he’s almost always ready to take it. he carries a prep kit.
kai — that fucker — knows how to make you wet the most with his bare hands. prepare for the thigh ride of your life, too.
taeyong, baekhyun, and taemin have the best arches. kai is coming for the top three as well. ten’s arch is so good, it can’t be considered one anymore.
baekhyun knows every adult movie out there. theoretically, nothing can shock him. in reality, he melts in your hands.
taeyong is so sexually active with you, he has quit eating garlic.
kai will exploit your muscle kink in any way he can.
taemin, being a devil, has that one button on his phone that he can press when you go out for dinner. he’s OBSESSED with getting you off. once you head home, it’s basically running down your thighs.
ten has once opened a condom with scissors to scare away a date that grew weird on him by the time it got to the do.
lucas is too tall for doing missionary normally.
this will surprise nobody: mark is great at constantly keeping up the dirty talk.
baekhyun’s car is sort of like a brothel on wheels. he can’t count how many times he got down and dirty in there. he cleans it all up by himself.
kai can technically grip you the hardest but he’s the gentlest and great at caressing the whole body.
taemin has the easiest time saying what precisely he wants. he is also the best people reader — most your wishes he can pretty intuit. taemin observes your interests well.
ten likes his hair pulled and makes angelic noises when you do so.
baekhyun likes camgirls and erotic chats with strangers online. he spends a lot of money for nsfw internet encounters.

Sequitura’s guide to Kpop if for some reason you want to get into it
(Not recommended, the fandom culture is insane, though there are some nice songs)
These are songs that I really liked on the first listen and continue to like. Some songs take a while to grow on me, like “TT” by Twice. Those aren’t on this list.
They're not my top 100 - those would be too particular to my tastes and I tried to cover a range of musical styles.
* means that the song is a b-side (not the primary promoted song in an album) and thus probably doesn’t have a music video.
Oh My Girl (cheerful group with KILLER catchy melodies) -Windy Day -Dolphin -Coloring Book -Closer -(optional listening) Secret Garden if you really liked Closer -(optional listening) Nonstop if you like catchy dance tunes, but after some of their really good stuff it'll pale in comparison. It's good gateway Oh My Girl, though.
Blackpink (they do a lot of hype songs; cool vocal colors; actually not bad rapping for kpop) -As If It's Your Last -Playing With Fire -Lovesick Girls
f(x) (experimental girl pop) -Rum Pum Pum -Nu Abo
KARA (exhilarating dance tunes) -Step
Brown-Eyed Girls (they've covered pretty much every genre at this point, but boundary-pushing is their main theme) -Kill Bill -(optional listening) Abracadabra (not personally my thing, but the EDM bassline was super fresh at the time and still is) -(optional listening) Warm Hole (really catchy 60s-esque bop)
Taeyeon (former main singer in Girl’s Generation) -4 Seasons -(optional listening) Spark (not the greatest song in the world, but the lead-in to the chorus is great.)
T-ara (ridiculously cheesy dance tunes) -Roly Poly -Sugar Free -(optional listening) Lovey Dovey (if you loved Roly Poly)
Mamamoo (originally jazz, now... something else) -Piano Man -Um Oh Ah Yeah -(optional listening) Woo Hoo (the harmonies will blow your mind) -(optional listening) Decalcomanie (GREAT for early 2000s rock Amy Winehouse-esque fans. I'm only mildly a fan of that style, but even I can admit the vocal pyrotechnics are incredible.) -(optional listening) Pride of 1cm (a rap diss track about each other’s heights) -(optional listening) Girl Crush (HEY YOUUUU)
Spica (sadly short-lived group that was *really* musical; did jazz authentically and well) -You Don’t Love Me
IU (soloist whose style has run the gamut, but she mostly writes her own music, now.) -Eight -The Red Shoes -Blueming -23
AOA (originally a band concept who came back with uh... sexy, which isn’t a genre, but they still have good songs) -Heart Attack -(optional listening) Like a Cat -(optional listening) Elvis
Wonder Girls (retro who came back with a band concept) -Why So Lonely
Sunmi (her stuff can take a while to get under your skin. It’s quite dark under the surface, which I like.) -Heroine -Pporippipam -(optional listening) 24 Hours -(optional viewing) Noir, for the music video mainly
Yubin (former rapper for Wonder Girls) -Lady -Thank U Soooo Much
Girl’s Generation AKA SNSD (one of the original icons. You won’t find a more polished group anywhere.) -Paparazzi -(optional listening) Lion Heart (for those who love the 60s sound)
BoA (original soloist icon. Watch her dance and sing live.) -Mannish Chocolat -(optional listening) Woman
Itzy (currently conquering the “teen rebels” genre) -Wannabe -Don’t Give a What -(optional listening) Icy (it’s divisive, but personally I find the attitude super charming and the instrumental fresh and unique rather than irritating.)
Red Velvet (have some great RnB songs, as well as some lovely summer ones, as well as some “lol wut” ones) -Psycho -You Better Know* -Body Talk* -(optional listening) Russian Roulette (slightly off-kilter pop song and catchy af) -(optional listening) Look* (AMAZING 80s throwback) -(optional listening) Swimming Pool* (one of those super cheesy pop songs that becomes transdescent in the chorus) -(optional listening) Sassy Me* (this song is crazy) -(optional listening) Mr. E* (if you loved You Better Know) -(optional listening) Sunny Side Up* (if you loved Body Talk and Psycho)
2NE1 (one of the first “badass”-themed girl groups.) -I Am the Best -Fire -(optional listening) I Don’t Care (tackling slow/emotional)
Hyuna (a great performer who sells any song she’s in) -Trouble Maker -365 Fresh -Bubble Pop
CLC (they’ve unfortunately probably broken up now. Super talented group who’s bounced from genre to genre trying to get something to stick, leaving bops along the way.) -Pepe -Show* -No
Weki Meki (they’re slowly finding their niche, which is likely to be smooth club stuff) -Crush -(optional listening) Cool (I recommend watching their relay dance/dance practices and giving Lua some attention)
BOL4 (“indie”-ish band; not a big fan of most of their stuff) -Travel (but they did strike addictive gold when they went more rock)
Gfriend (Strings, guitar, and some of the best/most consistent vocalists in kpop right now) -Navillera -Mago
Dreamcatcher (a very unique, metal-influenced sound. Amazing dancing. Probably supported by the most humane company in kpop right now.) -Scream -Over the Sky* -Black or White* -(optional listening) And There Was No One Left* (idk why but this one hits me. It’s so sparse and yet makes you feel so disconcerted.) -(optional listening) Silent Night* (if you like the musical aesthetics of the song “Everytime We Touch”) -(optional listening) Can’t Get You Out of My Mind* (if you liked Silent Night)
Twice (“The Nation’s Girl Group”) -Fancy (kind of the only song of theirs that I adore; ask me for more recs if you really like them.)
Ailee (known as the Beyonce of Korea) -I Will Show You (an unironic “yasss” song) -Heaven (gee, this song is sad but never lets up with the power vocals as well, which I think works better than a straight-up slow ballad)
Loona (I don’t really click with them, but a few songs have hit me first listen) -Voice* (it sounds like a beautiful, brisk skate across a mile-long lake) -New (by Yves – it’s super flowy) -ViViD (by Heejin – I love sassy swing tunes what can I say) -(optional listening) Heart Attack primarily for the music video
EXID (power vocals + brass + hip-hop? I don’t really get it tbh but good singing can sell me anything.) -Ah Yeah
After School (I don’t know this group but this song is a bop. Might be one of my top 20 favorites of all time and I only heard it yesterday.) -Bang!
Sunny Hill (very unique social commentary music) -Pray (warning: one of the most disturbing music videos I’ve ever seen, but definitely worth a watch if you have a strong stomach) -The Grasshopper Song (music video is nicer)
(now we move into territory with guys in it. I personally think male artists in Korea release fewer great songs than female artists, beccause the general trend is to be “dark” or “moody” compared to the more melodic trends in female groups. If you like strong choreography or braggadocio vibes, though, you’ll probably like them better.)
AKMU (singer-songwriter sibling pair and probably my favorite composers in Korea right now.) -Dinosaur -How People Move -(optional listening) Happening (somehow gives coffee shop music a driving rhythm) -(optional listening) Like Ga Na Da (this is a song about the alphabet. It is still insanely catchy.) -(optional listening) Melted (sad ballad)
TXT (this group has other songs, but I don’t like any of them nearly as much.) -Runaway (like the classic boy group sound set on fire. A really nice pre-chorus of all things. Love the guitar.)
Ateez (they might become the next BTS; not sure.) -Wonderland (like... pirate hip hop/rock. Watch with choreography.) -Wave (a surprisingly potent summer song) -(optional listening) Say My Name
Shinee (some of the most talented dudes in kpop) -Lucifer (probably the only kpop song to pull off a one-note chorus well. Sounds like it was produced by people who evolved in a different universe.) -View (super smooth, groovy deep house song.)
Oneus (their good stuff goes hard) -A Song Written Easily -Valkyrie
Stray Kids (don’t know the group; song is great) -Miroh
A.C.E. (one of the only kpop groups doing hardstyle and surprisingly enough, I like it.) -Goblin -Cactus
Seventeen (don’t really know the group; song is great) -Mansae
-1/6/21

My Last
Pairing: GOT7′s Mark x OC [Melanie] Genre:slice of life, slight fluff, slight angst Word Count: 3,945 Summary: Melanie’s beginning to think if the heartaches are worth it over the thought of being alone in the end as Mark isn’t as attentive or much a boyfriend lately.
Warning: not proofread. lol
hi again. this is another re-work, Endure, fitted for this kpop related blog. ofc it’s GOT7′s Mark, lol, but oh well it is what it is also i don’t know much about other people’s views on relationships or other females view about it either, but this is just based on my own along with the song and mv from PREEN called Don’t Like Being Alone. other than that i’m slowly getting back into writing, but it’s not where i would like it to be and so why a lot of re-writing is happening. although it’s not a bad thing or so i think. but yeah, happy reading and kthxbai, Admin Lia~
It was late and Melanie couldn't sleep. So she spent most of her time scrolling through her phone when she stumbled upon an old music video. She hadn't heard the song in a long while and casually clicked on it. Upon hearing the familiar beat and the singer's vocals, Melanie realized that the lyrics hit close to her current situation. She could've clicked out of it, but something within her allowed the song to continued on.
~~~~~~~~~~
"Hello?"
"Mark, hi!"
Melanie greeted her boyfriend over the phone before asking him where he was.
"You didn't respond back, but I'm outside your apartment complex. Where are you?"
"Oh, yeah, I'm not home. I'm out with the boys right now."
Mark answered before getting distracted on his end by one of his friends.
"I'll call you back, later, okay?"
Mark abruptly hung up on her as Melanie stared blankly at her mobile device with a sad sigh. She placed her phone onto the already occupied passenger seat of a gift bag and large Pikachu plush doll.
"I guess you did forget about it in the end, huh, Mark?"
Melanie muttered to herself while petting the yellow stuffed toy before starting the car.
"I guess playing with your friends is more important than celebrating our anniversary."
~~~~~~~~~~
Quietly listening to the song of the past that fitted with her present, Melanie realized that it was true. Girls didn't like being alone. They didn't like being neglected or being left alone to think of unhappy thoughts. Girls didn't like the thought of being forgotten or to suffer. They didn't like it when their partners didn't give them that sense of safety, security, and protection. That they don't like it when you don't give them a call or a message just to let them know that you're simply thinking about or missing them. Melanie's heart grew heavy with her last thought. The thought that she really didn't like it when her boyfriend didn't care or know a thing about her either
~~~~~~~~~~
"Guess who?"
Melanie playfully whispered into Mark's ear while covering his eyes with her hands upon coming up from behind him at the cafe where they were having a date today in a long while.
"Um, Fei?"
Mark guessed with a nervous laugh as Melanie chuckled quietly while brushing it off.
"Nope. Guess again."
"Oh, Min?"
"No."
"Jia?"
"Not even close. C'mon, it's easy. You should really know, Mark."
"Hmm?"
Mark pondered as Melanie rolled her eyes playfully before frowning when he couldn't guess that it was her a fourth time.
"Oh, I know. Suzy!"
There was a long pause. Melanie was really hoping that her boyfriend was just messing with her.
"We were just talking earlier before meeting up right now."
She tried giving him a hint, but wasn't sure if that was even gonna be enough with how he's been answering earlier.
"Oh, did we? Who could you be then?"
Mark hummed as he pondered on the answer. Melanie quietly sighed as she was about to end the game when she heard Mark speak.
"Oh! I know for sure. It's, Ayeon, right?"
Mark exclaimed happily as he grabbed onto Melanie's hands to remove them and looked over his shoulder at the person.
"Oh, Melanie. It's just you."
Melanie's frown deepened upon his reaction and the words that left his mouth. Mark didn't notice as he turned his attention away and motioned for his girlfriend to take a seat. Melanie reluctantly took a seat while giving Mark a look.
"We really spoke not that long ago, Mark. Also we've known one another for a long while before we even dated."
Mark casually shrugged with a lopsided grin.
"I guess I'm not good at recognizing voices then."
Before Melanie could counter the waiter appeared with their drinks as Mark had ordered ahead of time.
"Well, if it makes you feel better, Melanie, I already ordered you your favorite drink."
Mark placed Melanie's favorite drink in front of her while taking his own.
"Anyways, I've already paid so don't worry about it, but I gotta get going though." Mark suddenly announced while standing up.
"Brian and I have this project due soon and our boss just moved our deadline forward than it was before."
"But what about our date?" Melanie asked him a bit confused and a slightly annoyed.
"We'll, have another one later this week. I promise. Seeya."
Mark gave Melanie a quick kiss to the cheek before leaving the cafe as Melanie's eyebrows furrowed and her expression soured more.
"You were the one that planned this date and even have postponed it twice already within the past three weeks." Melanie muttered to herself annoyed. "So when are we going to have a proper date, Mark?"
She sighed as she glared at her so-called favorite drink that her boyfriend had ordered for her.
"It would be my favorite drink, Mark, if you had ordered the right one."
She sighed again as she reached out to twirl the straw.
"I like guava. Not honeydew."
She took a sip of the milk tea drink. Even if she didn't like the whole flavor a lot, she disliked wasting things the most. The other thing she disliked a lot was people making promises that they couldn’t keep.
~~~~~~~~~~
So when the song came to an end, Melanie wasn't sure how or what to feel now. There was such a mixture of things to feel and it left her mind to do what it wanted to do on its own. Due to the lyrics of the songs it didn't stop the thoughts from floating about in her head. Girls really just didn't like being lonely, ever. If a girl really had to choose to be heartbroken or being alone, then in the end she would rather choose to be heartbroken. Because it's easier to deal with a broken heart than facing the loneliness of being alone. Eventually though over time it wears the person down. Melanie sighed as the realization of those thoughts hit her again and she wondered out loud with a far off gaze.
"So how much longer could I endure the heartaches before turning to loneliness in the end?"
~~~~~~~~~~
"Melanie, hey! This is Sunmi. She's a colleague. Sunmi this is my..."
Mark introduced his co-worker to his girlfriend yet he seemed like he blanked out on when to introduce Sunmi to Melanie.
"Hi, Sunmi. I'm Mark's girlfriend, Melanie. It's nice to meet you."
Melanie introduced herself instead while shaking hands with Sunmi. Melanie had showed up to Mark's work to give him a surprise lunch since it's been a while since she's been there.
"Wow, you're so pretty. Mark didn't mention that he had a girlfriend though."
Sunmi complimented Melanie, but also didn't mean anything by her next set of words that stung Melanie a bit although she didn't show it.
"I see. Well, we've been dating for more than a year, but have known another one like five."
"Wow, that's pretty cool. I'm totally surprised I haven't met you since I've been working here longer than Mark."
"Well, the opportunity never showed up until now." Mark responded while rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
"Right, I see."
Melanie shot Mark a small smile while holding up a homemade lunch towards him.
"Well, I just came to give you lunch since I made a little too much earlier."
"Oh, I already ate."
Mark casually said as he didn't take the offer meal.
"I see. Sunmi?"
Melanie turned her attention to Sunmi with a small smile.
"She already ate, too." Mark answered for his colleague.
Melanie nodded in understanding and was about to take back the meal when Sunmi reached out and took it from her hands.
"But I don't mind. I had a light lunch and I haven't had a home-cooked meal in a long while. Thank you."
"You're welcome. I hope you enjoy it."
Melanie shot her a kind smile before casting her eyes onto her boyfriend.
"Anyways, I'll get going. See you later."
"Okay, bye."
"Bye, Melanie. It was nice to meet you."
"Yeah, me too."
Melanie shot them a smile before turning around to leave while mumbling for only herself to hear.
"How long can I keep this up until I can't anymore?"
~~~~~~~~~~
Several days later the couple attended their friend, Jackson's, birthday dinner at a restaurant that Melanie has been wanting to go to. There were some people that Melanie knew and others she didn't. Everyone was enjoying themselves with eating, laughing, and telling jokes and stories throughout the night. Some time later the conversation shifted and the atmosphere between them all suddenly grew awkward due to an innocent question by one of Mark and Jackson's friend.
"Hey, Mark. Where's your girlfriend?"
Melanie stared at the male, Chris, who had asked the question although she's been sitting beside Mark all night.
"Did Sunmi have something else to do tonight?"
Although she hadn't known Chris for that long, but she was sure that Mark had introduced the two of them before. Right? All of a sudden Melanie wasn't able to recall if Mark had introduced her as his girlfriend to his friends, but she herself did state that phrase all the time.
"Chris, Sunmi's not Mark's girlfriend. It's Melanie." Another friend, BamBam, corrected while pointing at Melanie.
Melanie actually knew BamBam longer than she did Mark. That was how she and Mark met in the first place through BamBam.
"You remember her, right? You met Melanie at my Christmas party a few months ago. Besides, Sunmi's only Mark's co-worker."
"Oh, wow. Now, that's embarrassing. I'm so sorry about the confusion." Chris apologized while looking between Melanie and the person, sitting next to her on the other side of her.
"I thought you were Jinyoung's girlfriend because the two of you have been talking a lot to one another throughout dinner."
Melanie cast Chris a polite smile while excusing herself as she grab her things stating that she just needed to use the restroom. Somehow that question had turned her off from enjoying the rest of Jackson's birthday dinner and didn't want to spoil the rest of it with her sour mood because of Chris' question. Melanie instead took a breather once she exited the restaurant and tried to gather herself while debating if she wanted to go back inside. She didn't want the others to think it had affected her too much causing them all to become awkward in the end.
She inhale and exhale a few times while looking towards the night sky with a heavy heart. If she actually left now, then it would be awkward since she had come with Mark. Also she knew that Jackson would get upset and blow up her phone if she didn't properly bid him a good night. The last thought caused a slight chuckle to escape as she let out another calm breath already deciding to head on back inside. Just as she had turned around Melanie saw that Mark was making his way towards her.
"Hey, Melanie, are you okay?"
He held her shoulders while looking at his girlfriend with a worried look.
"Yeah, Mark, I'm fine."
She mustered up a small smile upon answering her boyfriend.
"I hope you're not that upset with Chris about what he had said earlier. It's not really that big of a deal to be worked up about."
Melanie's small smile instantly disappeared. She cast her boyfriend a tired and annoyed look.
"Not a big deal, Mark? Really? Are you being for real right now?"
Melanie meant it as a rhetorical question, but she saw that Mark was about to respond to her and didn't allow him to.
"Chris assumed that you and I aren't together. That you were dating your co-worker, Sunmi, and I was dating Jinyoung."
Her tone suddenly became firmer and she felt heated.
"Honestly, Mark, a majority of them seem to forget that you and I are actually a couple. Do we not interact like one or something for them to think otherwise?"
"Of course we do, Melanie." Mark answered immediately as if trying to reassure her of their relationship. "We go on plenty of dates. We hang out as much as we can. We hold hands, we kiss, we cuddle, and we do all that other lovey-doevy stuff that other couples do, too."
Still to Melanie it didn't sound all that convincing.
"Are you sure, Mark?"
Mark opened his mouth to reply, but no words came out. He looked like a fish with its mouth opening and closing while thinking of what kind of answer to give his girlfriend. Melanie sighed tiredly and decided whether she should or shouldn't continue her relationship with Mark.
"Do you even know what I like or dislike, Mark?"
Melanie asked him.
"Like my favorite flower? Favorite color? Favorite food? Or even what movies or dramas I like to watch? Or the hobbies I enjoy?"
Mark continued to look like a fish staring right back at his girlfriend.
"Do you even know the date of my birthday or of our anniversary?"
Still no response. Melanie sighed softly before asking two more questions in hopes that her boyfriend could maybe salvage what little they had to continue on with their relationship.
"Do you even know anything about me since we've known each other for five years or about us since we officially got together, Mark?"
Mark slowly removed his hands from her shoulders and let them fall by his sides. He also avoided all eye-contact with Melanie and chose to instead look at the ground that seemed to be way more interesting than his girlfriend. Because of his actions, to Melanie, this indicated that he didn't know or was unable to give her any sort of response she would be satisfied with.
"I can't do this anymore, Mark. I really can't." Melanie admitted with a sad tone.
"I love you and only you, but I just can't endure any more heartaches because of you, Mark. I can't endure an us when there's really just a you and just a me in this kind of relationship of ours."
She cast him a teary gaze.
"I really thought that I'll be your last without worrying about the loneliness."
Melanie took a few steps back from Mark which caught his attention more after hearing what she had just said. He looked up at her alarmed.
"What are you trying to say, Melanie?"
She cast him a sad smile.
"Let's break up."
There was a paused before Mark stared at her.
"Like taking a breather sort of break?"
Melanie shook her head.
"Or did you actually meant...?"
He trailed off with widened eyes although he knew exactly what Melanie meant, but couldn't let it sink in to process fully. The sad smile only grew on Melanie's face as she took a few more steps back from Mark.
"Goodbye, Mark, and take real care."
~~~~~~~~~~
It was four in the morning and Mark was outside of Melanie's apartment after their break-up from a few months ago. He knocked door every so often in hopes of Melanie answering so he could actually speak to her. They haven't contacted one another since the break-up and so Melanie wondered what her ex-boyfriend wanted as she peeked through the peephole. She was going to ignore him, but he was persistent. She sighed and opened the door with Mark in mid-knock so that her neighbors wouldn't become annoyed and check the situation.
The pair stared at one another as Melanie awaited what Mark wanted to explain himself. As for Mark he stood there as to collect his thoughts as his mind totally blanked once his ex-girlfriend opened the door. Still, even after like three minutes had passed, the silence continued without either of them speaking. Melanie sighed knowing that she shouldn't have expected Mark to change and was about to close the door when Mark held a hand against the door to prevent Melanie from closing it.
Just as Melanie glared at Mark and was about to say something, but she quickly noticed the dark circles beneath his eyes. Melanie also noticed that his faced seemed haggard than before. She wondered how she could have missed that and only noticed them now. She assumed her mind was hoping for something else and missed them. Melanie face soften as she came to the thought that it might've been due to their break-up that caused Mark to look so pale and tired, too. Well, she hoped that was the case.
"Forget-Me-Nots."
Mark suddenly blurted out as Melanie's eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"What?"
"Your favorite flower, forget-me-not. Because of the color and how it got it's name."
"BamBam probably told you that, Mark."
Melanie tried to reason, but Mark shook his head with a small smile.
"There's a horror movie with the same name and the flower ended up becoming your favorite after you watched it."
"BamBam probably told you that, too, since my sister and him are the only one that knows that."
"Blue is your favorite color although you don't wear it often."
Melanie was going to counter, but Mark continued to talk.
"But you do wear your most disliked color which is red a lot though."
"Look, M-"
Mark interrupted her and pushed the door a little wider when he felt that Melanie was trying to close it on him again.
"You don't have a favorite food in particular as you like eating everything, but you do have a stash of snacks and candies that you even carry a few in your bag. It's the same with movies and shows as you don't have a favorite and you like watching them although you're not into animated films like your sister."
Melanie tried to wrap this whole thing around her head, but it just left her more confused on why he was answering the questions months later.
"Why?"
Melanie asked causing Mark to stop to stare at her.
"Why, what?"
"Why, now, Mark? What does it matter to you in finally being able to answer the questions months I asked after we broke up? So why? Why now? What does this benefit you in the end?"
"Because I can't continue to convince myself that I don't miss you, Melanie."
Mark confessed.
"I try so hard to not think of you, Melanie, I do. I always see your face every time I close my eyes. I just can't escape. I don't wanna fall asleep knowing that you'll end up appearing in my dreams all night long every time."
Melanie was left speechless by his confession. As for Mark he felt relieved admitting what's been burdening him these past few months.
"I never realized how much of a difference your presence impacted my life when I came to terms with the truth that you were no longer mine or a part of my life anymore."
Mark wanted to reach out and take Melanie into his arms, but he restrained himself knowing that he didn't have that privileged and right to do that anymore.
"I neglected your importance and your feelings, but most of all out of everything in the end I failed to see that I neglected you, Melanie, and the love you gave." Mark admitted.
"You're the one who was supposed to be my last that I would love and only love, but I treated you like you meant nothing to me."
Melanie regarded Mark throughout his confession and admittance while feeling his words and emotions tug at her heartstrings. Could she really forgive him so easily? Could she even think about being in a relationship with him again? Could she even see a future for them if she gave him another chance, but if he asks for another chance though? Melanie honestly didn't know for sure, but she did know for sure was that she wanted to do one thing right then and there.
"Can I hug you?"
Instead of receiving a response Melanie felt herself being pulled towards Mark's chest without any sort of hesitation. Mark enveloped Melanie into his arms having missed the way she felt within his embrace after realizing how much those intimate moments meant. Although initially shocked by the sudden skinship as she thought that Mark may not have wanted to hug, but she relaxed and hugged him back. Melanie relished in the familiar scent and feel of Mark that she got lost in the mood and missed what Mark had just said.
"Hmm?"
She hummed while pulling back far enough to look at him.
"What did you say?"
Mark smiled as he repeated what he had just said a moment ago.
"November sixteen. January sixteen."
Melanie gave him a funny look before realization hit her that Mark answered the last two questions before they broke up.
"The day of my birthday and our anniversary."
Mark nodded as his smiled widened before speaking.
"You had a major and long crush on me and liked me ever since moving here."
"I did not."
Mark ignored Melanie's comment.
"You think you suck at cooking which is partially true, but it's passable when you put in actual effort."
Melanie slightly smacked his forearm, but Mark continued with a lighter tone to his voice.
"And you've been wanting for us to officially move in together some time late next year and maybe once we're settled to adopt a pet dog since you're slightly allergic to cats."
"Wow, BamBam really has a big mouth and can't keep secrets."
Melanie pouted now knowing that Mark new that she wanted to live together with him.
"Big mouth or not, Melanie, but I'm so sorry for causing you so much heartache while we were together. I'm willing to spend the rest of my life to never make you feel alone or lonely ever again."
"That's a really big responsibility to take, Mark. How do you even know I wanna get back together with you?"
"Because you asked me for a hug."
Melanie was confused by his words at first, but then remember telling him back when they had first met that for her a hug always meant reconciliation. It was because she was never one for initiating skinship unless she felt like it or when the time called for it. Also if Melanie ever fought with her significant other and she wanted to be the one to make up first, then she would initiate the hug to settle the score.
"You remembered?" She asked in disbelief.
"Eventually I did after thinking and reminiscing over the past few months and the time we spent with one another over the years for it to register in my memory."
Mark admitted with a sheepish chuckle.
"It just took me a lot longer to realize a lot of things, Melanie, but I really hope you'll continued to lead me well and be patient because I don't wanna lose you ever again."
He gently cupped her face while rubbing circles over her cheekbones with his thumbs.
"I don't know what I'll do if I can't see your face ever again, Melanie."
"Then don't, Mark."
Mark was confused before Melanie hugged him again, but tighter as she spoke into his chest.
"Because I've loved and missed you too much to not have endured all of it for this long to not give another chance at us again."
Mark hugged Melanie just as tight while nuzzling his face against her head.
"This time and until the end of time, my love for you will make up for all the heartaches I caused. Because you are my last and I'm yours."
[ New Recruit ]
↳ Pre-Debut era
↳ Xiang isn't going to be in the girl group for the 2017 JYP trainee showcase. Xiang is less than pleased. Chan becomes well aware of that fact.
m.list
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
(x)
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
Being a kpop trainee is not the fanfiction dream most fans think it to be. You don't meet all your favorite artists on the first day (or ever, really). The actual training is grueling. There are constant dance and vocal and rap lessons, along with language and instrument classes.
Not to mention the behavior classes where you're literally told how to act. Also, the foreigners have to learn how to become some kind of fake Korean. You don't get to go home on holidays most of the time.
And there's this overlying fear that at any moment you could not measure up to what your company wants you to be and you'll be sent home without a chance of redemption.
"Are you done being melodramatic or do you want to keep spiraling into a depressive episode?"
"You want an honest answer?"
Yeji rolls her eyes, "Come on, Changie. Groups are being announced for the showcase soon and I want to be there when it's posted."
"Sorry, I need to wallow in self pity for a little longer."
"No, you don't. Now come on!"
Xiang groans as her friend and fellow trainee pulls her up off the ground and out of the dorm.
"She's alive! I figured you'd have killed yourself with how long it was taking," Ryujin comments as Yeji drags Xiang out into the hallway with the rest of the trainees in their dorm.
"Don't tempt me."
The group of girls makes their way to the bus stop, where they ride to their company building and file inside. More trainees are already waiting for the announcing of teams for the trainee showcase.
Just as the last group of trainees arrives, a dance instructor walks down the hall. The trainees who had been buzzing with excitement and talking amongst themselves fall quiet as they step out of her way as she pins the sheet to the announcement board. She walks away like nothing a moment later and the trainees all climb on top of each other trying to read the paper.
Lily Morrow jumps away happily with a few other soloists, the remaining trainees pressing forward to read the assignments. Yeji pushes Xiang forward as a space opens up, leaning over her shoulder.
Yeji pokes Xiang in the back, "You're a rap soloist, who saw that coming?"
Xiang nudges her as much as she can in the tight crowd of eager trainees. She continues reading the list, looking further down at the teams.
Trainee Bang Chan's Project Team
Junior Team: Boy Story
She skips past that.
Girls 2 Team
There it is.
Members: Mashiro, Park Sunmin, Park Yejin, Shin Ryujin, Shin Yuna, Lee Chaeryoung, and Hwang Yeji
Xiang blinks and reads the names again. And again. And a fourth time.
She still doesn't see her Korean name (Ji Changho) anywhere under Girls 2 Team. She guesses it's okay she wasn't chosen as a debut-worthy trainee (not really, that sucks major ass but okay) but then she hears someone say something from behind her, not realizing she can hear them.
"Why is Changho in Chan's team?"
"What?" Xiang mutters, lifting her gaze back up the list to Bang Chan's Project Team.
And there, right between Lee Yongbok and Han Jisung, is Ji Changho, a member of Trainee Bang Chan's Project Team. Until now, Xiang had thought that Chan's team would be a male only group.
Chan is a decent enough guy a few years older than Xiang. He is currently JYP's longest training trainee, a great leader and an even better producer, good at all three of the fundamental idol skills as well as just a nice guy. No one ever has anything bad to say about him.
But why the hell is she listed to be a member of his team for the showcase, especially when he got to choose the trainees he wanted? He didn't even ask her first before signing her up unwillingly.
She looks above the crowd of trainees and finds Chan's dirty blonde head of hair. She detaches herself from Yeji and the crowd of trainees. She makes her way over to Chan.
"Why is she part of the team? I thought it was just us nine guys."
"I know, but I've seen how good she is and she produces, too. Have you heard her tracks?"
"Yes, everyone has, but that doesn't mean she should be a part of the group."
"For once I have to agree with Han on something."
Chan turns away from Jisung to face Xiang, who stands with her arms crossed and hip popped.
"But you... you said you'd join the group. I talked to you about it."
"Uh, no, I didn't and you didn't talk to me about anything."
"I didn't? But..."
Chan's confused expression shifts to absolute terror, covering his mouth with his hand as he looks at Xiang with wide eyes.
"That was a dream."
"Are you messing with me?"
"No, I-," he groans and drags his hands down his face, "God, I'm so sorry, Xianghao."
"Using my real name doesn't fix this, Christopher. You know that it's either your group or the girl group that's going to debut. If this stops me from debuting, I am going to chop your dick off."
Chan swallows nervously, "Understood. I-I'll go talk to JYP now."
Chan runs off.
"You're so confident that we're not going to debut, then?"
Xiang turns to Jisung, "Honestly, fuck off, Han. I am not in the mood for your shit."
super random but you were rebloging infinite members pictures and i realized they kinda seem like an untouchable group. like they’re that great no one can compare. intimidatingly great? and this is coming from someone who isn’t a fan. i literally know nothing about them but now i’m intrigued. 👀
wow...I like that phrase that they’re untouchable. They really have everything...imo one of the best vocals in the industry group wise, all the members can sing well live (Sunggyu and Woohyun top male vocalists in the industry), they don’t know how to lipsync lol and their rappers are amazing vocalists as well (one of them left tho so we are always in sad hours about that). their stage presence leaves you in awe.. choreo kings! They are the standard for knife-like choreo in the kpop industry. they have the best performances from end of year shows if you’re interested I can link some stuff! and two more favorite things about them is their bond and how they make fun of each other all the time but you can see how they love each other to pieces. And their variety/reality shows are some of the funniest I’ve ever seen (I would put them first but btob exists) but anytime I need to cheer myself up my go to is any Infinite Showtime episode!
#I can link some videos and stages tomorrow coz I need to sleep now#thank you for this ask!#curious why you follow (if you follow me) if not for ifnt#ask#anonymous
4. Highway to Heaven - NCT 127
5. Undercover - A.C.E
7. Lit - Oneus
8. Sweet Chaos- Day6
9. Savage - A.C.E
10. Fuego - U-Kwon
January
“Lonely Night” - KNK
I was anticipating KNK’s return. I was very curious as to what they would do after leaving their company and having Youjin leave and Dongwon join. But they did not disappoint at all. Dongwon proved himself very much and it’s one of my favs this year.
“I’m OK” - iKon
I was so ready for this song. I love it so much. I was so ready for this song I was at school ready for it. iKon have never disappointed me with a song and this one is no exception. I adore it and listening to it makes me miss B.I.
“Say My Name” & “Hala Hala” - Ateez
Ateez was always on my radar. But these songs really made me notice them you know. I still bop to them both daily and like this is peak Kpop to me. This is the standard I expect from groups. Ateez really is out here to kill
“Rooftop” - N.flying
This song might be favorite this year. I’m not the biggest N.Flying stan (Really getting into them tho) and I love this song. This song might be my number 1 this year. I love it so much.
February
“Want” - Taemin
Taemin is a god. That’s all I really have to say. Like Taemin really is on another level. This whole album is a blessing.
“Enough” - SF9
SF9 are a group to look out for in my opinion. They really have their own sound and I can appreciate that. I have all of their albums in my playlist. I listen to this one frequently.
March
“Tuxedo” - Ravi
If you want to be happy. Listen to this song. It just puts a smile on my face. I genuinely like all of Ravi’s albums and think he is really promising as a musician.
“Thrilla Killa” - VAV
Still kinda sad Jacob isn’t in this one because wow. But VAV are underrated kings of the year. Thrilla Killa is such a fun song. I really have been enjoying VAV’s releases.
“Miroh”- Stray Kids
I will be jamming to Miroh until the day i die. I will be doing the Haka part of the choreo to this dance, until the day I die.
“Vibe” - 1Team
This might possibly one of my favorite debuts of all time. The song is so chill and mature yet still fun and I feel like you got to hear every member’s strengths and I adore it to bits and pieces.
April
“Doves” - Gree
(Couldn’t find a gif for the mv)
I really fell in love with this song after stumbling on it accidentally. The song is really different and I really really like it.
“Tu Eres” - Newkidd
It makes me so happy to see Hansol find his place somewhere. After he left SM and the SMrookies, he joined The Unit and I was just kind of like when is he going to find his place, is he going to go solo? I’m just happy he found his place. All around this is a solid debut.
“Bloom Bloom” - The Boyz
I have had a hard time getting into the The Boyz, I still don’t know any names or anything but this is the first song that really peaked my interest. I really love songs like this. It’s so fun and fresh to listen to and it puts me in a good mood.
“Bet Bet” - Nu’est
Nu’est is really coming for me. I love every release they have brought out over the years. They are just so good. Baekho’s vocals are god tier and I adore this song. The album is amazing as well.
May
“Ah Yeah” - Winner
Winner have been so refreshing and just lovely lately. Their recent comebacks have really made me adore them even more. “Ah Yeah” is a song I have been listening to a lot lately and it just makes me really happy.
“Undercover” - A.C.E
We all know how I feel about A.C.E. This song is in my top 10 this year, maybe even top 5. A.C.E have so much talent and the video and the styling are amazing. But like the rap is God tier.
“Highway to Heaven” - NCT 127
I chose this song over “Superhuman” because it’s superior to me. Highway to Heaven makes me feel like a college student, going on a spring break roadtrip with my friends. Also in my top 10 this year.
“Twilight” - Oneus
I didn’t put their debut in this, even though it was amazing because Twilight is superior. I love this concept, this song and these boys. Oneus are proving themselves to be monster rookies and I am here for it. “Now” is a really good b-side.
June
“Wave” & “Illusion” - Ateez
It’s not surprise that Ateez makes the list again. This album was the one I bopped too all summer and I will never not “HAKUNA MATATA YAAAA”
“RPM” - SF9
I LOVE SF9. Look RPM is superior in everyway and form. The choreo, the styling, the song, the mv, JUST EVERYTHING. I was so shook when this song came out omg.
“Side Effects” - Stray Kids
Boy my head hurts. I love Stray Kids, I love their songs. This song totally caught me off guard and as much as I prefer it when Stray Kids isn’t as angry, this song is amazing and no one can change my mind.
“Questions” - Zelo
I missed my baby. It’s nice to hear his voice again. I love this track it’s really nice and summery. Looking forward to more things by my baby.
1Team are rookies I didn’t know what to expect from. But their songs are so chill omg. I love every single one of them and like I just feel hanging out at the beach when i listen to them.
“Time of our life” - Day6
Day6. I love this song. They had so much fun with it and it’s just so good omg. Day6 for the win. K-Bands for the win.
“Sunset” - KNK
Oh lord. KNK came for my throat. I want more KNK in 2020 because I need it. This song reminds me of a fashion show.
“Give me more (ft. De La Ghetto, Play n Skillz)” - VAV
Fun summer songs always win for me. Also VAV always win for me. I really like the dance and just the vibe of the song. It is kinda generic but I still really like it and listen to it alot.
“Boom” NCT Dream
Boy these boys have grown up so much. It warms my heart and makes me sad at the same time. I still listen to this daily.
“Face” - Woosung/Sammy
I love this song so much. It’s so refreshing and nice to listen to. Sammy’s voice is like butter.
August
“Come back home” - Target
This song surprised me. I generally don’t go into groups I don’t know with high hopes, but I really like this song and the choreography.
“Final Kiss” - IZ
This is a band I have been getting into too. Final Kiss is a great way to end the summer and it’s a really nice refreshing and fun. The drummer really caught my eye, because he’s hella cute and the main vocalist is so talented.
September
“Hit” and “Fear” - Seventeen
Fear made me nearly crap myself at the beginning of the song. It caught me so off guard but in the best way. Hit is just such a fun song and a hype song. I yell along to it in the shower almost every time.
“Lit” - Oneus
I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH. How they made such a fun song that I willbe listening to 10 years later is besides me. Oneus really out proving themselves. Another one for in my top 10.
“Human” and “Daredevil” - Zico
I have mentioned in the past how much I love Zico and his music and this was the return I wanted. The Thinking album is just amazing. Zico manages to put every emotion there is into an album.
October (A lot of great releases here)
“Jopping” - SuperM
I will be jopping to the end of time. Look a lot of people hate the thought of SuperM and stuff. But like, to me SuperM is just alot of amazing in one group and the songs are really cool. So yeah and they created their own verb.
“Why” - ONF
(not the right mv but yeah)
This song really put ONF on the map for me. It’s so different and nice. I love it. The mv is also incredibly and the vocals are too.
“Wonderland” - Ateez
Again, no surprise. This song is still on repeat for me. I love it, I want to tattoo it on my forehead. i want Yunho to “Kajaaaa” all over me. I love it, love it, love it. Can’t wait to see them live in 2020. Also in my top 10 this year.
“Good Bam” - N.Flying
A chill feel good song that I adore. Me and my friend talk alot on voice chat on discord and at the end of the night we say ‘Good Bam’ because of this song. It’s just so fun.
“Runaway” - TXT
I am not the biggest TXT stan, I like some songs and that’s about it but, Run away is an amazing song. The mv is lovely, the song is great and I really like the choreography.
“Poison” - VAV
VAV came for my throat and they didn’t have to. Also in my top 10 this year.
“Sweet Chaos” - Day6
I listen to this and i want to scream along. We got a lot this comeback, Young K’s forehead, a full album and all of Day6 in suits. Another one for in my top 10.
“So So” - Winner
SoSo came out after I broke up with my boyfriend and let me tell you, perfect timing. This mv is one of the best I have seen ever and the song is amazing. Winner really stepped up their game this year. Another top 10.
“Follow” - Monsta X
This will be a Monsta X era I will cherish forever. Enough said.
“Savage” - A.C.E
We all know my A.C.E tangent I went on and I will not apologize. Another one for the top 10. No one does it like A.C.E. MORE A.C.E IN 2020. Also Wow’s rap in this song needs to be 10 verses longer, for my health.
November
“Calling my name” - GOT7
Got7′s best title track yet? IDK but to me it is. I also love all the b-sides and I feel like everyone got to show off their strengths.
“Make this” - 1Team
The beat drop in this song is something I haven’t quite heard before. I really like it and the video reminds of like a 90′s video game which is pretty cool. 1Team really are my favorite group out of boygroups who debuted this year.
“Balloon” - Zico
Zico man, I love this video and song so much. It encapsulates alot of my own emotions and it’s beautiful.
“Blue Flame” - Astro
This song had me so shook. I have really been getting into Astro and this is my first comeback with them and I am not at all disappointed. Astro man...
december
“Fuego” - U Kwon
I love this song so much. I want people to cover dance it, the choreography is so fun and I’d do it myself but I can’t dance. I love the song and it was like the last thing I expected in December and it is in my top 10.
“Levanter” Stray Kids
a bittersweet comeback. But still beautiful, I’m proud of how far they have come and Stray Kids have never disappointed me. The choreo is lovely and Seungmin’s vocals are beautiful.
( TOM HOLLAND / CIS MALE / TWENTY FOUR / HE/HIM/HIS ) i always seem to run into JULIAN EVANS at jukebox records. i’ve heard that if the REGULAR CUSTOMER had to choose one go-to record, it’d be SAVES THE WORLD by MUNA and that they can be CARING but also kind of SHY. for some reason, they always make me think of FINGERS CALLUSED FROM GUITAR STRINGS, TOO MANY SCARS TO COUNT, and THE TOO GOOD TOO PURE FOR THIS WORLD CINNAMON ROLL MEME. — ( alyssa, 27, pst, she/her/hers )
hi everyone!! I’m alyssa and I am super super new to tumblr rp... as in, this is my first time ever roleplaying on here in a group (eek)! I’ve been roleplaying for over 15 years now (seriously) and am usually used to forums and 1x1, so I’m excited to try something new :) I tend to write a LOT - as in if you don’t shut me up, I will give you thousands and thousands of words for replies hehe. anywho, julian is one of my favorite muses ever and I’m so excited to bring him here!! without further ado, here is my sweet baby angel precious baby panda, julian!
TW: child abuse, domestic violence, and alcoholism.
background | past & present
julian was born julian tyler evans on march 28, 1996, in santa barbara, california, to claire evans and dylan porter. if you ask him, he’ll tell you he has one parent - his biggest inspiration and his role model, claire. julian inherited all his best traits from claire: his kindness, his determination, his passion, and his ability to care for everyone and anyone. as a pediatric nurse, claire worked long hours throughout the majority of julian’s childhood, but still managed to stay exceptionally present in her son’s life and parent him through a tumultuous relationship.
dylan is out of the picture. julian has a few happy memories with his dad prior to the age of six, but the majority of their relationship is mired in trauma. dylan always had problems with alcohol, even prior to having julian, but those issues worsened when he lost his job in the early 2000s. seemingly overnight, the dad that julian once knew vanished. what started as a loving father-son relationship turned into a twisted game of cat and mouse, and julian found himself walking on eggshells in his own home. more often than not, julian spent his nights covering the bruises and scratches dylan gave him earlier in the day. julian and claire quickly became ER regulars, and he learned to sew his own stitches before his fourteenth birthday.
the abuse julian endured forced him to turn his pain and doubts inward. the overly happy and energetic child version of julian disappeared, replaced by a cautious and quiet boy who didn’t dare rock the boat for fear of retaliation. throughout his difficult childhood, julian found solace in one thing - music. as the son of two musicians, julian learned guitar and piano before he learned to form proper sentences. a natural knack for the craft led julian to pick up bass, drums, and production at an early age (though guitar and piano are still his first loves). the majority of julian’s high school years were spent locked in his room, perfecting one beat for several hours or layering vocals late into the night.
his best friend, danny, is perhaps the only thing that kept julian’s head above water throughout his childhood. julian and danny met in the orchestra room in middle school when neither of them had friends to sit with at lunch. the two boys became best friends instantly and helped each other through their childhood struggles - danny helped julian survive his dad’s abuse and julian provided danny with a safe space after coming out to his homophobic parents.
julian and danny moved to san francisco for college. it was there that they met zoe and kevin through an on-campus a cappella group. the four bonded immediately through a cappella and now play together in a band (and live together as roommates). you can catch them playing gigs around town, and you’ll probably catch julian outside the venue two hours later having in-depth conversations with every person who showed up for their show. the stage is the one place where julian comes alive - he’s a natural performer and sheds his shy persona easily when he’s in his element.
outside of the band, julian works as a second grade teacher, and occasionally works in the stacks at the local library during the summers to make extra money. he adores children and spends most of his free time coming up with lesson plans and songs to teach his kids in an engaging way. adorable elementary school teacher by day, hot musician by night: the julian evans story.
personality
julian is the definition of the “beautiful cinnamon roll, too good, too pure for this world” meme. he cares deeply and intensely about the people he loves, and he’s the most loyal friend you’ll ever have. julian is the friend who will hold your hair back while you puke. he leaves granola bars in his roommates’ cars when he knows they’re not eating enough. he goes out of his way to care for everyone he meets without expecting anything in return.
with that being said, julian is a bit of a doormat. this largely stems from his history of abuse - he’s used to thinking that things are his fault, and that it’s easiest to accept the blame and not rock the boat, even when he’s in the right. he’s the guy who won’t mention that the waiter got his order wrong at a restaurant because he doesn’t want to make them uncomfortable. you could shoot julian in the heart and he would apologize for bleeding on your clothes.
julian prefers lyrics to discussions. he’s a producer and a songwriter above all else, and he finds it much easier to express his feelings through music than through conversation. when his back’s against the wall - when he’s experiencing intense ptsd or anxiety or sadness or anger - he locks himself in his room and writes music.
as someone who craves deep, lasting connections, he isn’t one to have lots of acquaintances or fair-weather friends. he can count the number of close friends he has on one hand and he likes it that way. it’s hard for julian to open up to people initially, but once you get through his quiet exterior, he’ll let his guard down and stick with you no matter what.
in terms of romantic relationships, julian is tragically heterosexual. like in his friendships, julian is the type of person who wants a long-term, stable relationship. since his childhood, julian has always been a hopeless romantic, constantly searching for the girl who will finally make him understand the love songs he’s listened to his whole life. he’s painfully shy, which means he has a hard time approaching girls he’s interested in, and most girls don’t take the time to crack through his quiet exterior. with that being said, the girl who does end up with him for the long haul is in for a very loving relationship.
headcanons
around his friends, julian is the quintessential chaotic aries. he WILL set the kitchen on fire because he moves too quickly while cooking and will try to do backflips in the living room just to prove he can.
julian is a fantastic cook and a terrible baker, because he gets too distracted to properly follow directions. he’s also been a vegetarian since he was 13. his favorite food is his mom’s eggplant parmesan.
he has a small garden on the balcony of his apartment, where he’s trying to grow vegetables and flowers. he says hi to the bees that show up every morning and has names for all of them, even though he can’t tell them apart.
julian loves his music more than anything and tries to form deep, lasting connections with the fans of his band. he remembers every person he’s met and always tries to connect with people, even though it’s a bit draining for him as an introvert. he’s terrible at social media and has no idea how to work instagram live, but tries to do it anyway to connect with the fans.
julian will listen to anything and everything - kpop, death metal, folk, rap, the works. he drives his roommates up the wall by blaring music at all hours of the day.
he has a pit bull named belle that he adopted from the shelter. she’s his best friend. he also has four aunts, and was basically raised in an intersectionally feminist sex-positive witch coven. yep.
producing is julian’s biggest passion, followed closely by songwriting. he produces all of his band’s songs and enjoys collaborating with others on production. it’s the one area where he feels confident enough to be himself.
for someone so shy, julian is super comfortable with his sexuality and won’t stand for toxic masculinity. he and danny used to do drag, but he hasn’t had a ton of time for it recently. he is also very confident in the bedroom, which surprises a lot of people. hehe.
julian is a boxer. what stemmed from a need to defend himself turned into a genuine passion - it’s easy for him to turn his brain off and focus when he’s working out. that being said, you’ll only find him at the gym in the wee hours of the morning, when he doesn’t have to be around too many people. he is an introvert, after all :)
julian is dyslexic and has pretty terrible vision, so he needs glasses. he usually wears contacts, but the first girl to tell him she thinks he looks cute in his glasses will steal his heart.
Fated under the Yellow Umbrella and Diamond Snow
This Kdrama was originally released in 2012. It stars two popular actors at the time:
Girl’s Generation Yoona, a Kpop star who is new to the acting scene at the time of the drama release.
and Jang Keun-suk, a rising star who reignited his fame with the drama You’re Beautiful.
The premise of the drama is love at first sight between the two main couples between two generations, 1970s and 2012 (both couples are performed by Yoona and Keun-suk). In the 1970s generation, the love of the first couple does not end up occurring due to circumstances surrounding their friends. Then, majority of the drama occurs in 2012, the generation of the main couple’s children.
It is important to note that this is a melodrama so there will be sadness in the drama. The drama revolves around multiple love triangles so there is a chance for you to experience second lead syndrome.
I would recommend it to people who are either new to the Kdrama scene or like casual dramas. I understand why it did not do well in its home country but excelled internationally, but I would not say it is the worst drama.
My full non-spoiler free opinion below:
I really enjoyed the drama despite its issues.Let’s start with the pros.
One pro is the soundtrack. It is very upbeat and memorable to me. My favorite one is Again and Again with its whimsical beat and cute vocals. While I typically don’t like this type of music in dramas, it is fitting considering it parallels the personality of one of the characters in the drama.
Another positive is the comedic side characters. Honestly, they make the show stand out other than the drama’s concept. The interactions between the sides feel more human than the main ones. There’s the assistant who is under Suh Joon to hopefully develop his photography skills. He is also portrayed as a pitiful man, but he is still determined to become like Suh Joon. Even under Suh Joon, he still supports the boss after verbal abuses.
Along with the positive main character, there is one that does not receive enough love. And that is Jun Seol, a farmer who “moved” to the city to pursue a music career. He was introduced near the end of the drama yet is only there to portray another instance of love at first sight. HOWEVER, he was rarely ever seen nor receive much character development. I would like this guy more if he received more screen time. His masochism and his crush in Mi Ho is top notch since I would never expected it.
Honestly, my favorite character in the whole series is the second main lead: Sun Ho. His personality is overall a nice guy who just wants to help people. At first, I shipped him with Ha Na at first because of their similar personalities. But, other than the fact I know they would not end up together, they won’t have grow if they did. Their similar personalities will mean they will baby each other, meaning they won’t mature enough to fight for what they want. I am glad that they became best friends because they can understand each other’s situations fairly well. I’m in the stance of protecting this sweet cinnamon bun.
Another downside is the main male character. The acting is spot on; I’m criticizing the characters he plays. They fit the anime trope of the tsundere, especially the 2012 one. Honestly, they keep flipping from pursuing to pushing away the person they like. You have to give the women credit for liking them. While they are fun and overall nice guys, the tsundereness is too much for me sometimes. The 1970s character is just plain pitiful. There are times he had the opportunity to be with his crush, but he didn’t because of his friend. It’s understandable at first if she didn’t know any signs of liking him, but everyone can see that the two like each other.
The upside is how interconnected the two generations are. Other than the fact the first generation people,1970s, are parents to most of the second generation characters, their plots are intertwined. Hye Jung’s need for control messes with her friends and her son; honestly, while her feelings are understandable, her actions are too far. I felt uncomfortable about how she threatened her son’s relationship with the potential blindness of the girl’s mom. That is quite appalling to use an illness where the lady has no control of to be an excuse to end a relationship.
