#my orals are may 14th (ie next Tuesday) and I am freaking the fuck out#on one hand#I had a mock exam with my econ thought and theory field examiner last Tuesday#he made me prep 7-10 minute narratives about a range of subjects based on our books#picked a few randomly#and then asked me questions after I finished#and he said it was “’confidence inspiring’ and that he liked hearing me talk so long with self-assurance#but he’s also the one who literally kicked someone out of the program last year over their orals#so…still terrified of him#one of my comparative empires field examiners changed a bunch of books at the last minute#my early modern Sephardic field I feel best about. but still worried I’ll flub something important#and my whole sleep scheduled is fucked from pulling so many all nighters this quarter#please god just let me do well enough to scrape by a pass and move on to candidacy/not get thrown out#not the stones#me stuff
