Budapest (negyedik rész)
I allowed myself a leisurely start to the day – I achieved plenty yesterday. and I couldn’t check in to my new lodgings until 3pm. Once in the centre of Budapest, I popped my big bag in a locker and went in search of some more sights. These included St. Stephen’s beautiful Basilica, the sobering Shoes on the Danube bank, and another glance at the stunning Parliament building from the opposite side.

The clock hadn’t quite struck 3 so I ventured into the Trash Art Museum, which is essentially various pop culture characters built from scrap metal. The ‘museum’ was disappointingly small and thus the tour did not take very long, but it filled an awkward gap in time. I found my home for the next two days (very acceptable), and after a breather I grabbed some food at Karavan – an outdoor eating area lined with various food trailers. The place is full of colour, and in the beaming sun it was quite a lovely place to sit and chill.

My last excursion of the day was another media-driven one; I chanced across the Travelling Galaxy Exhibition, which turned out to be a large collection of Star Wars memorabilia owned by – presumably – a very wealthy individual. The bulk of the collection was miniature models hiding behind glass, and although there were a few interesting things to see, it was regrettably another underwhelming experience. I guess that’s what I get for deciding I’ve had enough of 18th century architecture…
