6. How has this pandemic been treating you?

(Using this to vent, please skip if you don’t want to read that sort of thing right now)

Ahah-heheh...you want the truth? Ok, well, it’s been bringing up some not so good memories and suppressed feelings from my childhood that constantly come and go (short version: my parents worked on a carnival ever since I was 5 and left my brother and I alone in a trailer with minimal human interaction during most of it with only homeschooling videos and movies to watch. I didn’t get to attend an actual school until I was 10 and we still had through isolation during the summer...so yeah, not a good time 😅) but I’m working through it, don’t worry!

On the bright side, the pandemic put a permanent end to my parents careers working at the carnival (under a manipulative and emotionally abusive boss who couldn’t care less that she exploited my dad’s loyalty and longing for acceptance...heh...fun times...) which means they can all move on and have a normal life! And my grandmother has been sewing/giving out free masks and set up a neighborhood pantry that’s been getting her to interact with more of our neighbors. It’s given a good boost to her mood, I’m glad to see her happy! ☺️

Just one?! Hm... “Song of the Sea” is an incredible family film with a touching story line and absolutely stunning animation! There’s also “Wu over the Wall”, “The Willoughbies”, “The Breadwinner”, “Onward”, every Disney movie available, all of the Jurassic Park movies....heh, the list goes on but I’ll stop there 😅

Cold!!! God I miss the cold....the air feels so nice to breathe and you can actually wear layers! Someday, I really want to move somewhere with winter (then I can go back to my goth ways or maybe try out Mori Kei since I wouldn’t be living with anyone who’d criticize it!).

12. Name one fact about you that others may find unusual

People call me a 90 y.o. in a 21 y.o. body...mainly because I don’t like going to parties, or drinking, don’t date....if I had my way we’d have at least three more cats..... I like to knit and drink tea in the mornings.....would rather take walks through the botanical gardens or zoo rather than go to the mall....yeah...

I think so, but everyone I ask genuinely says I don’t come off that way...idk man

15. Biggest pet peeve?

Whenever someone tells you to smile, cheer up, or not cry. Like, dude, we’re human. We feel things and need to work through them (otherwise you get people who learn to immediately hide their problems and believe me it is not healthy)! I’m sorry if you feel uncomfortable with seeing someone suffering, but that’s your problem. If you’re not going to try helping then just go tf away!

17. Rate your life 1-10, 1 being really crappy and 10 being best it could ever be

Right now, 9.5: I’m living with a person who loves and appreciates me without judgement, in a home that isn’t falling apart, with plenty of food and comforting things (like my kitties ☺️). Might not have many friends irl or a romantic partner and I’m still struggling with a few personal things, but those are in my control to change. This is a much better place to be, for sure!

Over all?....lemme crunch the numbers and get back to you on that.

20. Is there anything you think people need to know about you before becoming friends with you?

Like a warning label? A few actually. (Again, feel free to skip)

- There are a ton of subliminal social indicators I do not understand. If anything I say or do makes you uncomfortable, or if there’s something you don’t want me to share, or want me to do you need to tell me directly! I know this can be uncomfortable but it’s the only way for me to understand what exactly you’re trying to convey. This is something that has caused a lot of trouble in the past, and even though I’m trying to get better at it, it’s still frustratingly difficult for me to grasp. I’m sorry for burdening you with this.

- Internally anxious about the weirdest things (like going to public places without any goal or purpose, trying to sleep without any living creatures around, staying in unfamiliar places) and this does apply to hanging out with friends.

- Has trouble communicating feelings and forming connections with other people.

- In otherwords, there’s a lot of confusing baggage to work through, none of it is conducive to close friendships, and I really have no clue what anyone would get out of any sort relationship with me....yeah, you’ve been warned 😓

My Commissions: Genevieve “Ginny” Prescott aka: Tiamat

I want to make posts of my characters for some reason I guess and meanwhile give some boosts toward all the artists I’ve commissioned.

So let’s start with Ginny! She’s probably my longest running character - I played her over like, 5 years, start and stop. I started playing her when she was 16, and by the time she finally died, she was in her 60s, married, with two kids. I’ve used aspects of her for NPCs. Anyway - she was a Moros of the Mysterium...most of the time. She was kicked out four times. See and learn more below the cut!

It all started with Ginny and her brother, Martin.

Ginny got drawn into the world of darkness whenever her brother Martin committed suicide in a weird way and became a ghost. In that same instant, she gained psychic powers - something called "Day into Night" that allowed her to switch places with Martin at any time. When this happened, she'd become a ghost with telekinesis and could zoom around and spy on things, while Martin would possess her body and be able to fight better. Ginny worked her butt off to save others from the fate that Martin met - and in the end she succeeded. She unlocked the door to this strange place that should not be and ensured no one would get trapped in it anymore. Which of course caused things to go even more to hell.

You see, opening the door to the room caused a soul-stealing monster to come out. It started running around taking the souls of people who Ginny knew. THe mages (who had been vaguely helping her to open the door because they saw her as an oddity as someone who could become a ghost) pulled her in and made her help, especially because they realized this monster had some sort of attachment to her as its "savior." Ginny disguised herself (in bright pink wigs- like the picture above), and eventually when she got her throat chomped by a dragon spirit, she Awakened as a Moros. and helped solve the whole soul-stealing monster issue.

From there was a whirlwind-Ginny joined the Mysterium, Ginny did some minor things, and by the time we come back to her specifically, she was 21 and had just gotten kicked out of the mysterium for ...some major fights, we'll say with her direct superior. This led to her being chosen for a certain task. There was this proximus girl, about 12, who needed protected by a mage because there were some evil mages who wanted her dead. However, all the Orders really wanted her, and so anyone who was baby sitting her was basically filling her with propaganda for their order, and everyone agreed they wanted her with someone who wouldn't do that. So why not an ex-Mystagogue who sure, wanted to be a Mystagogue again but was also not big on proselytization? Ginny started watching out for the kid (Laverne) and took care of her. They went on adventures,  which included when Ginny met...

I'm just going to steal from my long-time storyteller, Dan's, write up he did for a guide on THAT story: Some of the most meaningful storylines I've ever done were actually begun by a player, not by me. How about an example: While looking for a lead, one of my players, who is a Mage, decides she needs to look into the seedy underbelly of the Awakened World. She goes looking for an Awakened criminal, and while passing through London stumbles upon a Mage who is having an argument with a Silver Ladder official who is in the process of banning the rogue from the city. As the ST, I've designed this rogueish NPC to a pretty shallow depth--he's just a Scottish fellow on the wrong side of Awakened Law, with a cheery disposition and a song in his heart--but while trying to solicit this mercenary character for aid, the player decides this NPC is the best and falls in love with him. Now, there are two ways this could have gone: a) she could have sat back, and silently hoped that this rogue NPC would romance her, or become more involved with the story somehow, or b) she could have made interacting with this NPC a top priority and done everything in her power to increase her character's ties with him. If my player had chosen path a, I'll tell you what would have happened: the rogue would have done his part for the story arc, and then found something better to do and promptly disappeared, never to be seen again. Instead, she chose option b. The rogue tried to shake her off, politely at first but then with more insistence--but the player kept finding ways to keep him around. She solicited more help from him, and she offered to pay very high prices for it. She went out of her way to do favors--illegal favors--for him. She got in trouble by associating with him, got kicked out of her Order for his sake, and risked her reputation and her life in order to defend him. Even when he seemed to outright betray her, she placed her trust in him (despite her doubts) and had faith in their developing relationship--and the result of this was one of the most memorable moments in my time as a Storyteller. (Try reminding Maq that she "melted the bloody van" sometime--and when you see her reaction, remember that this whole thing went down almost a decade ago IRL now.) This NPC, who was initially designed by me as a total throwaway, became utterly instrumental to the chronicle. He became the player-character's most constant and trusted companion. Eventually--years later--he became her husband, and they spent much of their time making mischief and keeping one step ahead of the Lex.

So Ginny, Sutton, Laverne eventually figured out who was behind everything. Ginny in the process made some hefty mistakes - she had an affair with an Ivory Claw, she caused the consilium to break up, oops, but she did some good - she uncovered a Seer plot and also got herself a familiar (first just a plain bird, but then she upgraded him via a helion until he was a phoenix named Horus). And they saved the world. Laverne sacrificed herself in the process, but it all ended up well.

So that was two apocalypses stopped by Ginny - one to a soul-eating monster, one to this group that wanted to destroy the world. The next time I'd get to play Ginny would be when she was in her 40s/50s (as above). She was scarred but established, and had two kids - a twin boy and girl (who will show up eventually in one of these posts). And three godmonsters (The Wyrm, Pseulak, and Shub Niggurath) were attempting to destroy the world successfully, so Ginny was called out of retirement to handle the situation. And she did, after a long and hard struggle to figure out what to do or how to help, by sacrificing herself to shunt off Shub Niggurath of the trio from reality so that she could no longer support the Wyrm or Pseulak.

Everything was peaceful for a while - as it is after death. But...well. THen things started going wrong on the Fallen World again. Seers were massacring mages, doing some massive mind fuckery, and tearing away anyone's magic who didn't believe them. Some mages realized they'd need help - of someone who wouldn't lose their powers. So they needed to call someone back from the supernal realms. They found a book on how to do it, but it required someone else sacrificing their own life. The only person they could find to do that was this guy named Lord Henry - an ancient moros...who just so happened to have been Ginny's mentor for 40+ years. He'd helped her get back in the Mysterium time after time, he's the one who guided her into developing her own Legacy...And Mentors and Students are pretty damn attached to each other.  So, grudgingly (the head Mystagogue at the time was the one who hated Ginny the most), they realized the person they'd have to call back was Ginny. OF course her body was destroyed, so a Thyrsus made her a new one, and because a lot of people would find her being back a blasphemy - she changed her name and sometimes went by Phoenix.

Ginny found out that Sutton was dead, as was her daughter - though her son was alive and well. The above art was created because Ginny found this out simultaneously when my other character, Whitley, found out both her boyfriend and her best friend were killed.  Whitley was surrounded by brightness and sparkles and so her this hit a lot harder - thus the sparkles and her looking miserable - while Ginny was surrounded by doom and gloom, but she understood death and wasn't afraid of it - so she accepted it a lot more readily. But, tl;dr - Ginny put together a group (including reclaiming her familiar, Horus) and once more saved the world, putting a stop to the Seers plot. in the process, she became one of the Oracles of Stygia, constantly up in the supernal realm fighting off the Exarchs. And now she's actually, finally done. Relatively speaking. #boss.

3: what random objects do you use to bookmark your books? Whatever’s close at hand that’s flat and small, lol

4: how do you take your coffee/tea? My coffee has to have a LOT of creamer and/or sugar. My tea depends; for the most part, it HAS to have at least a little bit of sugar, but there’s some that I don’t mind not having sugar in, just depends

5: are you self-conscious of your smile? YES.

20: what’s your favorite eye color? Blue. BRIGHT blue. I’ve also lately REALLLYYYY been loving shades of brown that almost look red. 

21: talk about your favorite bag, the one that’s been to hell and back with you and that you love to pieces. I recently bought a Castiel bag from Hot Topic, and while it’s not old, it has gone on a few adventures through the woods with me, and went with me to my last job quite a lot. I’m going to be using it a TON when I get my fursuit partial in 2018.

22: are you a morning person? Depends on if I get enough sleep, and wake up in a good mood

23: what’s your favorite thing to do on lazy days where you have 0 obligations? Laying in “bed” curled up in a few blankets with snacks and watch youtube vids

I had this plush cat that my one grandma gave me for christmas like…a year or so before she died? I named her Jellybean, and I took her EVERYWHERE with me. I should still have her…at least I did when we moved here when I was like 15…but I haven’t checked…she could be ruined for all I know ughhhhhhh

35: do you like stationary and pretty pens and so on? do you use them often? Yeah! I use stuff like that on rare occasions.

I FUCKING HATE IT ALSKDJFALSKDJFLAKSJDFUUGHHHHHHHHHHHH. No, but seriously. I can NOT be around people that are eating. I HAVE to have headphones in. Like, no offense…I have sensitive hearing, and chewing ((honestly, any kind of mouth noise other than talking)) noises make me gag and spiral into a HUGE anxiety attack and it’s so bad alsdkjfalskdjf

40: think of a piece of jewelry you own: what’s it’s story? does it have any meaning to you? Okay, so since I keep mentioning DMMD; I got an Industrial piercing in my left ear just like Noiz. It was the last piercing I got, and my first one from a PROPER piercer. The whole experience was awesome, and I loved it. It was back when our group was still 4 people, and we made a day of it. The piercer was SUPER nice, talked me through everything he was doing, being calm and reassuring, and just super sweet in general? Afterwards, he gave me a box of apple juice to help with my blood sugar, and I loved that idea so much, that to this day after I get tattoos or piercings, I always make sure to have apple juice as a tradition. I got my last piercing because 1.) I thought it looked HELLA cool, 2.) I reallllyyyyyy wanna cosplay Noiz, and 3.) Noiz’s character has a TON of meaning and stuff with me. Up next I’m gonna start stretching my lobes like him. Maybe it’ll be soon!

I LOVE Deadman Wonderland, I just got the complete series of MARS which was the first manga series I ever read through, Alice 19th is SO GOOD, of course my unhealthy love for Killing Stalking, Blood Bank…um…I can’t think of anymore atm

86: do you like concept albums? which ones? I honestly don’t know what that means….? But, it’s possible…?

Okay, so…I’ve only ever been to D.C. once so far, but it’s REALLY beautiful alskdfj I can’t wait for next Otakon, and hopefully be able to explore it more. There’s such a surreal charm to it. You can reallllllyyyyy feel the history everywhere you go there. Just. Damn.
