Everyone's celebrating the steamboat mouse coming into public domain and yes I definitely understand it and think it's a good thing to celebrate. I'm not gonna take that away from anyone. But my brain instead, for some reason, is fixated on the hatred I feel over how extensively D1nsey has abused legal powers to keep any forms of the mouse out of the public domain for as long as they could. Yes, the original version of the mouse is now in the public domain. But did you know that more recent versions will never enter the public domain as long as D1sney is a company? This is because they have made this version of the mouse their trademark as a "cooperate mascot" and "brand identifier", and you can renew your trademark as many times as you want.

Extra rambles below the cut talking about all the bs this company has done to keep even the original version of the mouse out of the public domain

Do people know that the company lobbied to change the copyright laws TWICE to extend his arrival into the public domain? Works were initially only supposed to be protected for 56 years after publication, as of the most recent amendment to copyright law at the time, from 1909. Meaning it should've entered public domain in 1984. But they changed the laws! To be then extended until... 2003. For a total of 75 years of protection. And then, of course, they lobbied AGAIN in 1998 to get the laws changed AGAIN to extend it to now a total of 95 years after publication. (Fun fact, the 1998 act, even back in the day, was jokingly called "The M1ckey M0use Protection Act" to make fun of it.)

The initial lobbying at least made Some sense on strictly a surface level. I can see why they made a case for copyright law being outdated, as prior to them first getting a new copyright law act passed (1976), that obviously means it hadn't been updated for 67 years. Especially notable considering how much had changed in those years. The one from 1909 was made with books in mind. I don't agree with it, but as I said, on a very high surface level, I can understand it.

But their true motives, keeping the mouse from entering the public domain, were very clear. So I feel this credit I could give them is null. Especially considering, as I already said, they would lobby again just 22 years later to extend it even further, because 75 years apparently wasn't enough for them. The only TRUE credit I can give them is that they weren't the only company pushing for this, they were just the main ones. But that is very very minimal credit at best.

Overall I think copyright is a stupid concept, other than the basic idea of preventing other people from saying they own the material or character. And I say this as an artist. But regardless of any opinions on copyright law, it's very clear that D1sney is acting purely on a capitalistic urge and fear.

Yandere Tidbit... Wonder which skeleton it could be? Warning slight gore and blood.

This was terrifying.

To anyone else it looked like a pleasant welcome. A giant beautiful bouquet of some of the prettiest and most expensive flowers you had ever seen. Set beside it was a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine you couldn't pronounce. A giant box lay in wait with eye-catching ribbons and bow.

A beautiful envelope with your name, in pretty calligraphy, laid waiting for you to read the letter within.

You knew better than to think it was your airbnb hosts to set something up this extravagant.

Tears blurred your vision and you could feel yourself trembling.

No one was supposed to know you were here for this exact reason.

Collapsing on the ground as you sobbed in utter dismay.

You had been so careful. Your automated time clock to put in a few weeks of vacation. It would adjust your schedules accordingly. Reject if someone else was requesting the same time before you. So you hadn't told a single soul.

You didn't go to any travel agency. Knew even better to research air b&bs on your phone and home network. Made sure that your weekly trip to the library was a "by chance" something to look up on the internet you had found while reading a book there. The book was about coin values of coins you did already have. Made sure coins were in your search history and incognito purchased your airbnb and to pick up your tickets at the airport. Printed all the information you needed and it never left you. Along with some coin prints. The papers that were important you kept in a special pocket in your purse making it look like you were trying to cram all the papers in at once… so if anyone looked they would only find coin papers. You made sure no one had seen you or anyone was close enough to see what you were up to.

Friends and family had no clue what you were up to. Social media didn't have an inkling either. Just you, yourself, and I.

Then you left like you were going to work. parked. Quickly change clothes then wait for your Taxi, you had called from the front counter phone. Then left for the airport. Taxi girl was sweet and didn't ask questions just casually chatting with you. Paid in cash with a good tip. Then the airport was practically a breeze. You picked up your tickets at the counter and paid in cash. You packed light and dressed for the scanning process and hopped on your flight to freedom.

Your car rental was paid in cash. You had enough for groceries and anything else you wanted to do. To a quaint little cabin in the woods. You were free from your stalker.

Then you open the door to this.

It was a little more over the top from the usual presents you've been getting.

You knew better than to ignore them. You would wake up to find them by your bedside table… and since you were practically in the middle of nowhere… by yourself… no one knows where you are… you don't want any bad consequences of not interacting with your… gifts.

It’s the monster mascot himself with a sweet beaming smile and holding up two wine glasses.

“P-please.. I..” You don’t know what to do or say as he leans forward and plants a chaste kiss on your forehead… making you freeze entirely.

“EVER SINCE I SAW YOUR FRIEND REQUEST… I KNEW INSTANTLY YOU WERE THE ONE.” Your eyes widen in fear. You had sent that because he was such a cute goofy skeleton on his live interviews. You friended him to get any updates as he would post monster news as well… how… did he really go over all his friend requests himself on his page!? AND THEN THINK YOU WERE HIS!? AS WELL AS MURDERING PEOPLE YOU JUST RANDOMLY MET TRYING TO GET AWAY!!?

You look back at the box and know you are about to throw up/pass out because this is too overwhelming… but if you do pass out… you’d be at his complete mercy.

Of which you are sure he doesn’t have any.

You know you are shaking… how could you not be terrified?

“I WILL MAKE YOU HAPPIER THAN YOU COULD POSSIBLY IMAGINE! NOW LET’S MAKE OUR DATEMATE STATUS OFFICIAL TO A TOAST! THEN SPEND OUR LITTLE GETAWAY IN ROMANTIC BLISS!” The glass is thrust towards you again, his grin becoming a little more manic.

You are far more terrified at what he will do to you… if you refuse.

Trembling you take the glass and his cheery grin that gained the support of monsters and humans alike unfurls.

“SPLENDID! NYEH HEH!” He grabs the wine and pours some in your glass and his.

A beautiful red wine.

“A TOAST TO OUR FUTURE TOGETHER MY LOVE!” He raises his glass and cheers. You awkwardly raise yours… trying not to spill it.

He lowers his to sip and you try not to get all over yourself.

“NOT LIKE YOU’D BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF IT ANYWAY.” He chuckles with little nyeh hehs.

Kiratto Prichan Episodes 103-104

Disneyland is looking a bit different.

Season 3! Oh my Lord, I can't believe I'm finally here. I wish I could come here and be a little more excited because I was watching this and I was having a lot of fun, but at the same time, I couldn't really care for much of what was going on at the same time. Weird, I know. But I think this is a sign we're in the path for me to start enjoying Prichan again, it's just the spring cleaning of my feelings for last season that is taking too long.

A fun thing I noticed here is that I didn't really feel the change from S2 to S3 as much as I felt the change from S1 to S2. I think at this point I'm more used to the weirdness in this show so when a rich corporation comes around and builds a huge theme park out of nowhere and now you can interact with virtual mascots without entering a digital world I just buy it as it is. XD

The dynamic for this season also doesn't seem to change much from season 2, I mean when you look at it the Princess Cup thing is pretty much the Jewel Collection but with the Daia Fests integrated into, and now to win you gotta win the most of this seasons' gimmick cord instead of the gimmick coord being like your entrance number for the final contest. It's a simple thing, and it was presented in a fun way so I'm curious.

Like I said there weren't that big changes in characters, so there's no much point in doing a section to talk about Kiratts and Meltic and what changed for them because it's pretty much still the same. I just don't get why Anna seems so blood-thirsty with this rivalry between the two groups now, but in Episode 104 she seems fine to be loosing, so I think this is more a thing of an external influence rather than what Anna truly feels so I think I'm okay with this sudden change.

The new toy gimmick of this season is the PritamaGOand I really don't like this thing, it feels like they've been downgrading from season to season instead of upgrading in terms of things that were supposed to make Prichan easier. However I do like the mascots thing, it feels a bit weird because it's one mascot for the whole team but it feels like KiracCHU and Melpan only have a connection to Mirai and Anna, but since this is still only the beginning of the season it is understandable that this would start with the centers.

And since I'm talking about the mascots let'stalk about the new characters of this season.

I had no opinion on KiracCHU before and I don't have an opinion her now. But I'm really disappointed at Melpan because from the promo images I was "OMG I LOVE HER, SHE'S MY DAUGHTER", but GOSH SHE'S ANNOYING!!! I hope this is just a very bad first impression and that she gets better as time goes on because I could barely stand her. The other character that didn't really leave an impression on me was Meganii, he's supposed to be quirky and all but to me he's just whatever, and I already got that the joke about him will be "what's his relation with Meganee?" and from what was shown I already know this will never be explained and it will grow old very fast as a joke (in my case it already did).

The other new set of characters is Alice, Eve, and their mascots. I love them both, Alice is a lot of fun, and I love how despite looking more serious and everything Eve is just as much of an air-head as Alice is.

But I have a few problems, first is their age, like the girls be here looking like they're in the same age range as Anju but they want me to believe they're in the same age as Mirai and the other girls, which I believe is mentioned in episode 103 that is 13 or something? And like, Alice lives alone in a camper that is also how she works to make a living for herself, this doesn't sound like a life of a 13-year-old. This show can throw me some absurd things and I'll buy it but there are some things that are just ridiculous, especially when they already have adult characters that are also idols in this show, they don't need to do this.

Another thing they didn't have to do was make Alice's backstory so easy to figure out. Like, they could've said that Alice was born in Japan without mentioning that she was baby her father found in the back of a giraffe. Like, it's so obvious now that Alice and Eve are sisters, it'll take all the joy of the confirmation whenever it happens. Of course, there are things yet to be revealed like how did they get separated, but the show is somehow trying to imply that Luluna has something to do with it because of that shady scene at the end of Ep104, and I'm not here for it. I already said this and I'll say it again, we don't need villains to have conflict in idol anime. This really bugged me and not even Luluna's gorgeous human form can make me overlook this fear I'm feeling.

I think the only thing left to comment on is the music. I like the opening song, it's not my favorite but I do like it, and I love the visuals. The ending song is shit, I'm sorry, but it is very gorgeous visually. I'm still not sure how I feel about Kiratts' new song, I like the chorus but everything else is just more of the same, but I was never much of a fan of Kiratts' songs so it's not surprising. But I call bs in that explanation thing that they've done for the new song, as fun as that escape room thing was I don't buy that they learned the new song subconsciously from that, they could've just been blatant about it and say they had a new song, this is one of the cases were explaining things too much is worse than leaving us in the dark. But I do like their new coords, I think it's my favorite Kiratts group coord from all seasons so far.

I think that's all I had to say. I have a few complaints bout some minor stuff like they treating dessert pizza like if they were discovering electricity when sweet pizzas have been around for ages, but I rather don't waste either mine or your time with those things. So... Archer 1999 is leaving out Abbiejean... again

So my hope when Archer slipped into his coma and they made it clear that the next few seasons would be his dream fantasies was that they’d age up his daughter Abbiejean so she could be more than just a background prop. 

It was clear since the first season that the crew of Archer was all white except Lana - there was an entire episode about it! And I was hoping over time they’d rectify that. Maybe add an Asian man or Hispanic woman - one even showed up but those were one off episode and then those characters NEVER show up again. 

Now adding in new agents especially those of different races and orientations would have expanded the world and to it the joke set so they didn’t spend the next five years rehashing the same tired jokes from season one. Don’t get me wrong - I love a good call back but if ALL of your jokes are all call backs then your writers are just lazy. 

Back to my point. Archer 1999 is the third season of coma fantasies. The first one (Dreamland) was a memorial to Woodhouse’s voice actor. It was set in the 50′s or whatever and Lana and Archer didn’t know each other before hand so okay - no Abbiejean. They retconned her right out of existence, made Pam a man and Carol her own ancestor... okay. The season was lame but oddly enough it did include Asian women - but as sweatshop stereotypes that were only there as a joke. No other POC just more call back BS which culminated in Lana (the ONLY black woman) getting shot SIX FUCKING TIMES. She’s the only main character that dies and Archer legit steps over her body in the end. 

Okay... skip to Danger Island. Another coma fantasy season taking place on a Polynesian like island. AGAIN, Abbiejean is not there in any form but oh Kreiger is a bird which is... funny? Theres a new man of color but he’s... a sex prop. Seriously Pam makes a joke about fucking him as he goes upstairs and then the writers forget they created him. 

Lana is there and she’s even more disrespected than usual - once again she’s nothing more than a sex prop to Cyril who is a Nazi in this season. Yeah let that sink in: woc fucks a nazi - ain’t so funny? It’s alluded that Lana is the descendant of a Princess and for a second it looks like a tribe of jungle people are going to worship her but whoop nope! Can’t have that! They worship Carol instead because... she’s white. Seriously there’s no other reason. They prop up Carol and put her on a pedestal while shitting all over Lana. Haha isn’t it so funny? Dumb brown girl though she was special. I guess I should be happy they didn’t kill her, well I’m not. 

Archer sacrificed himself to save them from Cyril and when he ‘dies’ you are immediately thrust into a teaser for 1999. Now I was really hoping they’d change it up at the last minute. A plot I had in mind was that he wakes from the coma several decades later to find Abbiejean is top Agent at Isis with Lana as director, Malory retired and the various children of the other crew members filling the roles as their parents. 

Nope, it’s gonna be a rip off of Aliens - the writers for this show must’ve gone to the ‘Seth McFarland school of writing’ - just old movie parodies and inside jokes. OKAY BUT if it’s based in the future maybe Abbiejean will be there - after all the ship is named after Seamus (Trinet’s and Cyril’s baby from previous seasons) and has Baboo the ocelot as the mascot on the logo. 

Well the first episode aired and she’s not mentioned or alluded to AT ALL. Lana and Archer are even divorced this time so their relationship was put back in but... still no Abbiejean? Apparently Archer’s REAL fantasy is to not have a daughter. I mean she was such a huge part of his development before the coma but she doesn’t exist in his brain as he ‘dreams’? How does Seamus and Baboo get a nod but she doesn’t? And how much do you wanna bet they bring Katya back? Just to further wedge in yet another white ‘desirable’ female to piss on Lana. 

TL;DR - Fuck. This. Show. The coma fantasy seasons are the worst. They make season 7 look good by comparison and season 7 was shit. Just more of this ‘white women are important, fuck you Lana’ bullshit. Adam... Adam? What happened to your show buddy? Seriously this is the same thing that happened to Family Guy. Instead of staying clever it just started shitting on women and people of color to get ‘edgelord laughs’

Nightingale & Peregrine Chapter 4

First, Last, Next

The real villain, flirting, sleight of hand (mind?), flirting, memory lane, flirting. All that and more in this exciting(?) chapter of Nightingale and Peregrine!

Maybe Moses should have listened to the piece of advice “don’t try to fight the hero.” If he had, then maybe he wouldn’t be fighting a headache, or still be feeling pain in his stomach from where she punched him.

The phone rang just as he got into his apartment.

“Who is this?”

“Did you learn your lesson, Spade?”

He let out a grunt as he sat down on the chair. “Don’t swing a cane at someone shortly after you’ve learned their name?”

“Listen before you act.”

A fancier iteration of what Moses had said.

“What did you call me for, Spectrum?”

“You lost your cane.”

“I’m lucky I didn’t lose any teeth, you sent me blind against a terror.”

Spectrum took his time to respond. He was probably trying to find a way to sound cold in response to that.

“I sent you there to get me Nightingale, I assumed your instincts would serve you well in these attempts.”

Spectrum was full of BS, and if Moses didn’t have an intense desire to sleep, he would have told him so. Instead he offered a new plan.

“I’ve found someone with a connection to Nightingale.”

Spectrum laughed, at least that’s what Moses believed he was doing, but you never know.

“You wouldn’t be the first operative to fail at seducing Amanda Piec.”

“Who said anything about seduction? Besides, I’m probably the first to have a mutual friend.” He hung up. He’d probably deal with consequences for it, but right now he needed to sleep.

…

Moses dedicated Monday to resting off his headache, and Tuesday was his chance reacquaint himself to his hometown. At least it would have been, if he hadn’t run into Mandie, literally.

“Sorry! I should have--”

“No, it’s fine,” he said, “I was focusing on the buildings and not the sidewalk.”

Mandie looked a bit skeptical.

“I wanted to get reacquainted to my hometown.”

“Oh, is it going well?”

“Overall, yeah, you?”

She looked down for a second, so the answer was likely a no.

“Let’s just say I canceled my plans for the night.”

Plans for the night--oh.

“You mean with the guy who--yeah, those plans? Why?”

Mandie giggled. At least Moses’ jumbled words had a benefit.

“Let’s just say he and I had a... disagreement over Helena.”

“Does he think he loves her more?”

More looking down. Wasn’t he supposed to befriend her?

“He thinks adoption ruins a marriage, and I think we haven’t even talked about marriage.”

Moses first instinct was to ask “What the fuck?” but wasn’t sure swearing would make friends. He did notice they were right by the entrance of a coffee shop, which wasn't there when he was younger.

“What do you usually get here?” He asked.

“The Nightingale, why?”

“And which one is your recent ex?”

The man she pointed at looked tall, and of muscular build. Moses hoped his plan wouldn't lead to a fist fight. He believed in his skills, but not enough to end unscathed. His abdomen still hurt from Nightingale's singular punch.

“Stay here, please.”

Moses stepped inside the shop, surprised at the lack of pungency. He found his target and moved toward him.

“Was that your girl who just walked out?”

The man chuckled. “If you can call it walking.”

“What do you mean?” This seemed like the guy who would be occupied for a while with a singular complaint.

“Well first off…” Moses didn't listen past that, instead focusing on the wallet he'd noticed. He nodded occasionally as he slowly telekinetically moved it out of the pocket, then quickly into his own hand. The guy didn't seem to notice.

Moses waited for him to finish talking.

“It must be tough losing a pretty one like that.”

“It is.”

Moses hated this guy already.

“You know what, let me buy you coffee.”

“Who am I to refuse something free?”

The man got up and the two of them got in line.

“By the way, I never got your name.” Moses told the guy.

“Martin Mulrigger, but my friends call me Speedy.” He put his hand out for a shake.

“Moses Casborough, and I don't have a nickname.” He shook the extended hand.

“What'll it be boys?” A woman with long red hair in a braid almost identical to Nightingale's the night before asked them. Would she be so obvious?

“I'll have a Liberty Lady Electron.” Speedy said.

“And two Liberty Lady Nightingales.” Moses added.

He took out the wallet and paid with a twenty. He stuffed the change in the tip jar, as well as all the cash in the wallet except for three ones, then the wallet on top.

“Why did you do that?”

Moses shrugged. “Not my wallet.”

Speedy laughed. They grabbed their drinks and headed out where Mandie was standing. Moses handed her one of the drinks in his hands and stood next to her to watch the gears turn in Speedy’s head.

Speedy ran back inside.

“We should probably go,” Mandie said.

“Good plan.”

Mandie grabbed him at the point his sleeve began, taking him across the street into a flower shop he recognized.

“He'll never look here.” Mandie had an expression like she just got away with something bad. He wasn’t sure if they had.

“No offense Mandie, but you don’t seem like the anti-flowers type of girl.” He took a flower from behind him and tucked it behind her ear.

“I’m not offended, but,” she removed the flower, “you’re being a bit forward.”

He waited a moment before taking it back. He hadn’t realized she was wearing gloves too, and he liked looking at the lace on her hand.

“You’re still going to pay for that.”

Moses turned to see his high school’s mascot of his four years.

“Elliot Stuart?”

Elliot’s jaw dropped.

“Moses Casborough?”

“In the flesh.” He opened his arms for a hug, which Elliot gave him.

When they separated Elliot finally noticed who Moses was with.

“You know Ms. Piec?”

“She’s a friend of my mom’s.”

“And you guys came in here because…”

Moses looked at Mandie.

“Because Speedy confuses Empowered Sensitive with allergenic sensitive.” She explained.

Mandie had superhuman senses. Speedy thought she had hay fever. She hadn’t sneezed yet.

“Speedy’s a douche.” Elliot said.

“Elliot.”

“Professionally.”

Moses looked at Mandie.

“He hosts a radio show.”

“So Elliot’s not wrong.”

Mandie just glared.

“Too soon?”

“It hasn't even been an hour.”

Maybe flirting wasn’t the best plan at the moment.

Mandie’s eyes flicked outside the window for a brief second.

“He left,” she said. Moses suddenly realized how close they were when she backed away and left the shop.

Mandie was a curious case, one that definitely piqued Moses’ curiosity.

“You like her,” Elliot said in the most middle school voice possible.

“I--maybe.”

“How long have you known her?”

“I met her at Joe’s on Saturday.”

“You haven’t even known this girl for four days?”

“You know men, it doesn’t take much for us to fall.”

“You’re still paying for the flower.”

Moses sighed.

“How much?”

“How much do you have.”

“I stole a person’s wallet to buy coffee.”

“Twenty?”

“Yeah.” He reached into his back pocket and took out a twenty dollar bill. “You know me too well.��

Elliot stuffed the cash into his apron pocket. “You were the worst influence of my formative years, I should know you.”

“I wouldn’t call myself the worst.”

“Eliz was a saint compared to you, and you know it.”

“Most people who’ve met us think the mind-controller is the better twin. I wonder why that is.”

“Is that bitterness I detect in your tone?”

“Yes.”

Moses had realized his sister was manipulative early on. The issue was she was so good at it that still nobody had realized it.

…

“It takes nothing, really,” Eliz threw another ball up for Moses to stop, which he did, “it's a little seed that I plant that will make anyone ignore me, or see nothing but me.”

“Is that why Callyn tripped over a lunch table yesterday?” Moses released the energy holding the ball above Eliz’s head, dropping it on her.

“Ow.” She rubbed her forehead where the ball had landed, “if you must know, his attention was focused on you. I made sure of it.”

Moses recalled one of the rare visits of his mother's old friends. She normally didn't even let them near the house. What was the name one of them called her? Placebo: a fake pill, a fake feeling, beneficial manipulation.

“Do you want to be the kind of mother who doesn't let her children meet the people she worked with?”

“Do you like sounding like Max?” She threw the ball up again. “Besides, my children will love me too much for me to care.” Moses threw the ball on her stomach this time. “Oof.”

“And why would your situation be any different from Mom's, or are you too stupid to remember you can't read her mind, but she can read yours?”

“She peaked. I'm reaching her, and soon I'll surpass her.”

“You sound like a psychopath.”

She threw the ball at his face. He stopped it.

“Take it back!”

“As your twin brother, I'm morally obligated to tell you this sort of thing. It's in the twin brother contract.”

“Is there a twin sister contract?”

“Not for psychopaths.”

She dove at him. He couldn’t stop her, but he could shove her off and hold her in the air.

“Put me down!”

He released the energy around her, and she fell on the floor.

“I hate you.”

“You're just projecting.”

…

After an argument on the the moral fiber of his estranged sister, Moses left Elliot’s shop $20 poorer. He didn’t notice any more distractions on his way back to the apartment. Inside the apartment, however, sat a familiar blond haired gentleman.

“We didn’t finish our conversation.”

Moses turned to the door and locked it before turning back and responding, “did you wait for me to leave my apartment so you could have your dramatic not-entrance?”

“I figured it was better not to disturb your rest.”

“And you didn’t want me to know you can knock.”

Spectrum’s eyes dilated briefly, then returned to normal. The ability that didn’t affect Moses.

“I wanted your feedback on a certain idea I had.”

An idea that Moses probably couldn’t say no to.

“Shoot.”

“I want you to go after Nightingale on a third front, with Ace of Spades being the first front and pursuing Miss Piec being the second.”

“You didn’t need to spell it out for me.” Moses finally sat down. “What third front?”

“I chose you because, like Nightingale, you are a skilled psychic.”

“Telekinetic.” He didn’t have skill when it came to telepathy.

“Fine. The point is, you already bear a connection to her that would have been impossible for any of the other operatives.”

“Are you trying to say you want me to seduce Nightingale somehow?”

Spectrum smirked in a way that made Moses want to squirm. “Who said anything about seduction? I just need you to make her trust you.”

“I’m not against playing damsel-in-distress if I need to, but how do you propose I make her trust me?”

“We've studied Nightingale since before the public knew she existed.”

“Sure, I’ll say that, nothing wins a girl’s heart like sounding stalkerish.”

The dilation again. Spectrum knew it didn’t work, so it must be instinctual.

“She had a partner once. We believe this partner was one and the same as Electron’s infamous partner.”

“You think she worked with Static before Static was Static.”

“In so many words. We also believe Nightingale hasn’t had a proper partner since Static left her for Electron.”

Moses couldn’t keep himself from laughing.

“You make this sound like a soap opera.”

Spectrum ignored him and continued, “We want you to become Nightingale’s new partner, convince her you’re a hero.”

Moses was having a lot of fun poking holes in this plan.

“How am I supposed to convince her I’m a hero?”

“We’re willing to lose any amount of shipments to get rid of this thorn in our side. Besides, she’s the only reason we value this town anymore.”

“You were here before she was, though.”

“Of course, there was something before her that piqued our interest, but it’s moved locales.”

Moses wasn’t sure if Spectrum realized he’d increased his focus on Moses. It would make sense that he and his sister may be of interest, but that made him wonder how long the Coven had kept eyes on them.

“Is there anything else I have to do to play superhero?”

“Costume, name, and technique is up to you, but you will be compensated for your efforts.”

“So the answer to my question is, I have to do everything.”

“Yes.” Spectrum’s eyes dilated again.

Suddenly Moses’ door was kicked open. He turned around to spot two suits, one of whom put his hand to the door, making it repair itself in moments. Moses turned back to Spectrum.

“Did it take them that long to realize it wasn’t reinforced?”

A simple hit to the head told Moses it wasn’t the best idea to mock the intelligence of a guy who just broke his door. He woke up a few hours later, when the light of the sun hit his eyelids.

“Shit.”

He closed his eyes again.

1. Go! Princess Precure: Cure Scarlet and Cure Twinkle (7″)

These are in very good condition and were barely messed with. Scarlet’s tag is still intact, but Twinkle’s is missing. eBay users are selling these for about $30 each. My offer: $25 (OR $45 for both)

2. Cure Ace and Cure Fortune (Fluffy Cure Friends; about 15″)

Both are in very good/like new condition. One of Ace’s cuffs have come loose over time, but is very minor. Fortune is somewhat not hard to find anywhere else (eBay has a few listings going for $25-$30). Ace, on the other hand, is rarer due to its age.

Ace offer: $89? No. I won’t sell it at such a ludicrous price. My offer stands between $35-$40.

3. Precure Mascots (Pop, Potpourri, and Lance)

These are being sold as a lot. Potpourri is a change purse plush (very cute and plushy); very good condition. Pop is like new; never used. Lance is in very good condition; has had stains but cleaned it recently.

This report is not going to cover my teams, spreads and so on, as it was in 2015. I even don’t know if I should call it a ‘report’, I just want to slop down some thoughts about 2017. Have a nice read.

Why did I return to vgc? I DONT KNOW. As you might remember, I was a tryharder in 2015, but Nats loss and Autumn Series event loss completely broke me. 2016 season wasn’t a thing I’d like to try out (especially with the 2015 wounds) and I got some serious mental health problems in 2016. New pokemon game was a thing that could possibly make my days a bit brighter, and yea, I liked the game, the tapus, the ultra beasts and I became curious about the new format. The first russian tournament was announced to be held in late December, but I was busy with exams prep and haven’t even completed the main story. Though the tournament was tempting. I tested my first ideas on PS which included Instruct spam xd, but Nihilego with proper support showed a real potential at our early days of metagame. I could make it to the tournament (MSS Q1, wow Russia got midseasons...) and somehow won it. It’s like WHATTT how could i... but still. This thing lit something inside me and I decided to give that season a chance.

January brought the first meta shift, and I started struggling with the team I had. I accidentally joined a random coversation on twitter and then I texted PephanVGC something like hey, did you remember we wanted to talk about teams. And he was very nice to me right from the start, he helped me out with the team and then we started to chat about everything. About friends, life, our past, loneliness and other troubles, and I thought I’ve found a real soulmate. We started to chat every day, but some days ago we were complete strangers to each other. This is so great.

Pephan shared a team with me I instantly fell in love with. It was Winter, so yeah Hail was cool to use, and that was the warmest winter I have :3 though Arcanines already were everywhere, and I removed Life Orb from his Koko to make it Electrium Z Koko AND IT BECAME MY MASCOT FOR THE WHOLE SEASON (i thought so before specs has come to mind...)  Also I played the same team with Pephan at Melbourne Challenge, and I got paired with him on r2... I lost in a close set and got broken so much, but he still helped me a lot with that and taught me how to treat losses less painfully. I love Pephan.

Then I built an AFK team too but with fucked item choices (firium arcanine just why), but I also had Scarf Porygon-Z and it was amazing to use. 

I brought Hail team to St Peter (yeah I travelled to St Petersburg) and Moscow PCs, got 1st and 2nd, AFK PZ team - to MSS Q2 AND I WON AGAIN. I was wondering why my enemies rivals didn’t visit our events, but ok, it was not my problem. Especially when our 2016 nats champion became my main enemy.

This was my season flow. I traveled, I played, I was studying at university and it was my graduation year, I had a job and tried to combine it with studying and pokemon, sometimes it affected my results. I was invited to represent Pokemon at Hinode 2017, the huge annual Japanese event in Moscow, with my main rival, famous russian pokemon community moderator and some TCG guys. It was definitely a nice experience. I got money from that just because I told people how amazing pokemon is, I teached them how to battle and showed that there’s much more than Pokemon Go. Yes, I don’t like Go. All pokemon players don’t like Go here.

Well, I thought season should have something else besides MSS and PCs, and hell yes, 8 Russian Special Events at 8 different cities were announced in May. Moar travelling! We(my rival, me and our tcg frens) decided to go to St Peter (again), Perm, Astrakhan and Ufa. Someone decided to go to all 8 SE because he wanted to.

The big-big drama started at our community but I don’t wanna share it here.

I graduated, traveled and played, and since my rival missed 2 Specials due to his own graduation and some other issues, my invite made a bit more real. Wait. THE DREAM OF MAKING WORLDS BECAME REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I still needed to put a lot ot work into it. Top 1 vgc gets paid invite, I was 1st, but tcg guy with a good amount of vgc points was second (because he always played vgc after tcg at special events). I thought he will play TCG after all and he won’t interfere with my road to worlds, but I found out that he is going to the city we’re all decided not to go, to grind some tcg AND vgc points. I got angry as a rival and made an impulsive decision to go to Irkutsk Special before Moscow Special. And I went. And got some important points. And pretty locked up my invite. But I said to myself that I shouldn’t sсream it out loud and dance in the shower before the official ceremony in the end of the season. I still had Moscow event.

Huh. Our system this year allowed travelling, and 8 Special Events were held in June and July. Because I had the will and money to travel, because I got a job and combined it with studying at university and somehow haven’t lost it, I visited 6 Special Events. People started to shittalk me. I am wallet warrior, I am noob, I am not worlds caliber, I bought an invite and so on. I even partly agree. At that point winning russian events isn’t close to winning or doing well at EU/US events. Not every SE at regions gave us a strong competition. I am deadly far from WolfeyNails/Markus/etc level. But even with that, should I leave my spot and act like a fucking noble idiot? ‘Oh I am bad and not worlds caliber, guess I should give up now’. Yes. Definitely. Absolutely. It sounds ridiculous, doesn’t it? I have a game I love, a desire to travel, a job and money for that, so why not. If you don’t play and try, you can never ‘get good’. Sitting on a sofa and thinking ‘oh I will never be good enough so I better don’t play’ is a shitty mindset as well. And then twitter drama about ‘free worlds not being elitist’ happened, I’ve become so sick of that.  

Moscow Special. The long-awaited end of the season. Really long-awaited because I felt like every day had 48 hours. I didn’t have special plans for Moscow. I didn’t want win it out as hell, I just wanted everything to end. And it ended.

Despite tons of personal shit happened to me this season, apparently I found myself a better person. i don’t know if this is growing up, I am already 21 and difference between 19 and 21 doesn’t seem too big, though my mind and attitude to some things have noticeably changed.

Got rid of fake elitism, as it was in my early days of competitive and my -most famous year- (2015). I can’t even imagine now but then I thought that competitive is the BEST part we can have about pokemon, and everyone else who likes casual playing or anime are absolute losers and can never be as cool as us. Your dream is completing dex? Breeding a shiny? You love some anime characters and wanna watch fuckin dummies’ anime forever? Uh, dream of becoming a xXxWORLDCHAMPIONxXx just disparages your shitty life goals. I laughed at people i don’t know in person and who didn’t do anything bad to me.

I don’t know what changed my mind in particular. It’s like I just woke up with thoughts “why should I do this”. I saw that people who are not only about competitive can have and reach their own pokemon dreams, they’re valuable too. They can travel not only for competitive. For love to the franchise all of us are fond of. I am sorry for being an asshole :)

Got some skills of loving myself. Yup, y’all might know it was a big problem. Tl,dr: I haven’t a reason to. My only ray of light was being successful enough in vgc and when I wasn’t it became a catastrophe. Bad runs at IC, losses at regionals stages, bad BS sessions? Oh god, i am so shitty, i hate myself - and it was the softest thing I said. It was a mix of hatred and sadness and absolutely wasn’t a great thing to feel.  It cost me a real depression in 2016 - though I didn’t even play that season, it hit me hard. I let it happen, I let myself think and treat the game that way. Now it is slightly better, and it also feels so new. It’s like WOAH you actually may not hate yourself for a loss? In 2015 I had my Nats spot already reserved, but every mediocre regionals stage run made me feel terrible. This season I was fighting for the Worlds (Worlds > Rus Nats) right from the start with no ‘safe options’, I was losing too, but I could cope with that. Though losing is always sad. The difference is in being frustrated and hating yourself for days or week and being frustrated and hating yourself for an evening, and then you’re saying something like enough, it won’t make me better, learning and practice will make me better, so let’s play tomorrow. Pephan helped me out a lot with this. Tons of love to Pephan.

Well, also I reached a dream. When I was 17, I watched 2013 Worlds with excitement, though I understood nothing because I was an OU child. New format? Big event? That was very unfamiliar but holy crap so breathtaking! Two guys were fighting for the honourable title with some beautiful teams and strategies, I felt their drive even when I was so far away. That blew my mind. I told myself that I want to visit Pokemon World Championships too. The long way of getting better started in 2013 and will never end. I won Russian VGC 2014 big event and got closer to my dream. I qualified to Russian National Championships in 2015 and almost made my dream real, finishing 2nd. I got broken and gave up because sometimes it was too hard to keep up. I remembered how I sang lyrics from “Wavin Flag”: ‘when I get older, I will be stronger’. The dream wasn’t dead.  And I tried again. And I did it. The most trivial thing I can say now is do not give up and fight for your dreams, but this is really true!

Every Trainer has a choice To listen to that voice inside. I know the battle may be long, Winners may have come and gone I will carry on! Yeah, this dream will last forever, And this dream will never die, We will rise to meet the challenge every time. (Advanced Challenge) Yeah, this dream keeps us together, This shows that you and I Will be the best that the world's ever seen, Cause we always will follow this dream!

Nothing can be perfect in one second. I still have issues with rivalry and with the community, though I wonder how we will do in 2018.
