#on a far smaller and more mundane scale than about Joker being a Phantom Thief and Akechi being the true culprit

So it’s never actually mentioned in-game when Akechi finds out Joker’s been convicted of assault. When he tells Akechi about his backstory at the jazz club, all that Akechi says is that he “moved to Tokyo all on [his] own” which suggests that he doesn’t know he was sent away or that he’s on probation (makes sense - you’re befriending a detective who constantly talks about upholding the law. Why would you tell him you’re a criminal even if you were wrongly convicted if he believes the law is above all else?) and following it up by saying it’s something “out of a storybook” suggests that it’s something romanticised or that Joker describes it like a choice he made for his own sake about self discovery and not out of obligation. How do you think Akechi, lying to everyone around him, felt when he realised that Joker was lying to him too? It makes sense why he has so much hatred for Joker as ‘criminal trash’ considering everything Akechi’s done is the hatred wasn’t truly about Akira being a criminal but because Akira lied about it and proved from the beginning that he never fully trusted Akechi.
#this might just be me going insane#but I think abt this a lot#and the ways that they lie to each other#on a far smaller and more mundane scale than about Joker being a Phantom Thief and Akechi being the true culprit#bcs in the same way they both trusted each other with more of themselves than anyone else ever saw#they also really didn’t trust each other at all#persona 5#p5#persona 5 royal#goro akechi#ren amamiya#shuake#p5r#persona 5 spoilers#p5r spoilers
