hey,, for the omori character ask thing? i'm really sorry if you're not doing it anymore by the time i send this,, i apologize,, but!! i have a hard time opening up and really talking to anyone except people i'm close with (friends/relatives) and i'm just extremely shy in general. i tend to seclude myself away from people a lot and mostly just spend my time in comfort spaces (i.e my room or quiet libraries),, oh and i really like music and drawing!! i hope this is okay,, im sorry if its not,,

These two characters I decided to pick were basically there since the beginning! I wanted to sit back and really think about it, though, just in case. I looked through some characters and kept my original picks. I hope you enjoy these!

So. Here’s what I personally got!

I also thought of Charlene, personally! Which I believe is the real world equivalent to Sharleen. So that sorta works out! Heheh!

Both Sunny and Sharleen are quiet people. More so, they’re shy and seem to stick close to their circle of friends. When they do talk, it’s quiet and hard to catch in Sharleen’s case―while with Sunny, he talks rarely and only when he has to. Sunny is usually seen in his room. Likely because it’s comfortable to him for story reasons. There’s lots of music references in Headspace, implying that Sunny at least knows plenty about music. He also has a sketchbook that’s full of doodles! As for Charlene, the pick was fairly similar in Sharleen’s case. Very soft-spoken and close to her friends!

Alright so its time to hyperfixate even more on Omori by giving my rankings for a few characters, specifically the main cast in both Faraway and Headspace, and a few of the side characters, so without further ado...

*(INHALES)*

Sunny: Emo and very adorable. Lots of headcanons for him after the PGE ranging from keeping him his usual shy self to making him very sociable and talkative. 80/10

Omori: Garbage Boy Stink Man but we still love this little gremlin. 9/10

Kel: Buries all of his trauma deep down, all to help his friends. False smiles at any sadness. Honestly written really well. 150/10

Headspace Kel: Kel but annoying and no sadness. 20/10

Aubrey: BEST. GIRL. Has the best writing, the best music, the best headcanons, the best sprites, and BY FAR the best character arc. Is also extremely relatable. 200/10

Headspace Aubrey: Aubrey but much more upbeat and also clingy. Veeeeeeeery clingy (Touch Starved Aubrey my beloved). 25/10

Hero: Best brother figure in gaming and I will not take Mario as a rebuttal. Plus, he's literally the perfect man (other than my boyfriend, but I digress). 100/10

Headspace Hero: Kinda boring ngl. Still the most useful for battles though. 20/10

Basil: Adorable. Must protecc at all costs. Also, when he's written well, he has some of the best moments in the game. 175/10

Headspace Basil: Basil but even more adorable. 23/10

Mari: Sunny but with Hero's caring and Kel's goofieness. Just a shame she doesn't have a larger role imo (granted I know why but still), but that's what the fics are for :). 50/10

Kim: Feral lesbian gremlin. We stan. 120/10

Berley: Feral lesbian gremlin: Dinosaur fursona edition. 20/10

Angel: Kel but more hyper. 100/10

Nem: Puzl. 3/10

The Maverick: Weeb and also a complete doofus. 150/10

Mikal: No wonder he uses The Maverick persona. Mikal is so... so boring. 1/10

Vance: The other good big brother archetype in this game: 60/10

Van: He looks like a Snorlax. 5/10

Charlene: Basil but tall, female, and shyer. Still like her a lot as a character though. 50/10

Sharleen: Pretty much the same as her Faraway version. 5/10

Biscuit: Same as Faraway Variant. 15/10

Sweetheart: I want to punch hed but also she's hilarious. 75/10

Aubrey's Mother: Fuck you. Hope you die a slow death via alcohol poisoning in a jail cell. You deserve nothing but pain after how you treated Aubrey. -999,999,999,999/10

Kel and Hero's Parents: Your one benefit is that your better than the other parents of the main cast. 0/10

Polly: She's doing her best and needs more appreciation. 40/10

Angel's Sister: If you took Candace from Phineas and Ferb's obnoxiousness and combined it with the wrath and punishments of Vickie from The Fairly Odd Parents, you'd get Angel's sister. 1/10

Mewo: Adorable. 10/10

Hector: DOGGO. 20/10

Bun-Bun: WHY ARE ALL OF THE BUNNIES SO ADORABLE?! 30/10

Next chapter of Faraway From Here is taking a bit of time (there's a couple of scenes I'm currently shuffling around) so have some more OMORI thoughts and things under the cut.

So I was thinking about dreamworld counterparts of the hooligans. Most of them have pretty 1:1 counterparts in the playground. But there's one hooligan that's a little different in my opinion. Angel. The wiki lists his dreamworld counterpart as Neb. But that's strange because while there is a resemblance in terms of appearance (the distinct pompadour) Angel's loud personally doesn't fit Neb's quiet demeanor. All the other playground kids have not only a physical resemblance to their real world counterparts, but there are personality traits which can be used to corrolate them.

Here are some other points. Let's see if you can see what I'm getting at

Neb's biggest personality trait is that he likes puzzles. Angel doesn't mention this at all

Angel seems younger than the rest of the hooligans. Inversely, Neb is taller and seems older than most of the other kids in the playground (with the exception of the kids for which being tall/old have been "flanderized" (van/sharleen)

In addition to Angel's younger appearance, he's the only one that idolizes "The Maverick" calling him his master. Further reinforcing the idea that Angel is younger and looks up to the older kids

The names of the other playground kids have some relation to their real world counterparts, either being shortenings, possible extensions, or just misspellings of their names. "Neb" doesn't seem to have any relationship to the name "Angel" other than the slim possibility that Neb is "Ben" reversed and Ben is Angel's real name.

Anyone see what I'm getting at yet?

(So this is a bigass maybe but) Maybe Neb isn't Angel's dreamworld counterpart. Maybe Neb and Angel's resemblance can be chalked up to a familial resemblance. Angel has an older brother, one who loves puzzles, one who is older than most kids at the playground, one who's real name is possibly Ben. And that four years ago, Sunny simply hadn't met Angel which is why he doesn't show up in headspace.

And maybe since we see Neb's puzzle in front of a grave in the graveyard. Maybe Sunny's family isn't the only one in town that's experienced tragedy.

Sunny's dreams being assigned into layers is pretty interesting if you ask me. Whitespace is the layer closest to reality. It's the most realistic and mundane looking layer of headspace. But it's also plays a role as a repression of thought, in whitespace there is no freedom of thoughts because it's stifled by the black bulb which results in a bland boring location which "traps" you at the end of every night.

Below that you have headspace. In headspace things are fantastical and whimsy, but there are still rules in place. There are restrictions on what you can and can't do. And Sunny/Omori doesn't have absolute control over what happens here not just in terms of the stories and characters that exist in headspace, but also in the places where black space leaks through. Headspace is for the most part where Sunny/Omori/The player wants to spend most of their time because it's the most "fun" place.

And underneath all that is Blackspace. Like the name suggests it's the opposite to Whitespace. If Whitespace is the absence and suppression of thoughts, then Blackspace is a void filled with terrifyingly loud thoughts. Intrusive thoughts, nightmares, self destructive thoughts. Blackspace is so chaotic and disturbing because there are no restraints down there. Sunny is forced to confront his deep thoughts and desires. His hatred of Basil, his callous indifference to his friends, and even random violent thoughts like killing Mewo.
