The news about omnidudes/jamie will not come as a shock to anyone in the eastenders fandom. He’s been notorious for many years for his predatory and creepy behaviour. He is a serial liar who claims to have experienced every trauma under the sun, and clearly has a worrying sexual attraction towards young boys.

Damn. If that's true, shame on him. I hope the next time he emerges somewhere, he'll be identified quickly and shut down just as fast.

I’ve kept rather quiet in regards to the recent news of the infamous Jamie (Omnidudes, or whatever name he adopted afterwards) being outed as a scam – and although I had my own axe to grind with the person, most of what I have to say shall be about people’s past reaction to him.

Didn’t the emoji-covered photos make anyone doubt their authenticity? — oh no, they showed a hot body.

Didn’t the endless, cringe-worthy anonymous asks make one wonder about them being sent to him himself to fuel his own fantasies? — oh no, he seemed to be “a hottie”.

Didn’t the annoying, distasteful text posts that he used to do make anyone unfollow him simply because of how awful they were? — oh no, it’s just the hottie’s sense of humour.

You are free to unfollow me after reading this, but if ever you thirsted over his stolen photographs or found yourself thinking any of the thoughts above — take a good, hard look at yourself.

The phantasm of a body tends to overpower anything in these circles.

You keep saying that it is wrong of Alice oseman to write a closeted gay/bi man as the antagonist on her story, but, respectfully, I think you totally missed the point. Ben Hope isn't the antagonist because hes a closeted gay/bi man, he's the antagonist despite being a closeted gay/bi man. Being scared is fine but that doesn't give you the pass to treat people like shit. And Ben might get redemption later in his life, but not from Charlie, because Charlie and Nick don't owe him anything. Nick is confused about his identity in s1 and in the closet for most of s2 but he doesn't let that influence how he behaves with Charlie.

Well... no. He isn't the villain "despite" being closeted; him being closeted is the central motivation behind all of his actions so his closetedness is inseparable from his antagonism. Furthermore, he's clearly meant as a foil to Nick's coming out journey so it gives the impression that not taking the steps to come out is what's causing Ben to go into this toxic spiral of self-hatred (remember when he tells Nick "you're just like me" and the implication is that he means "a shitty boyfriend") and lashing out at Charlie and Nick, which in itself is a sympathetic struggle that sets up for growth that could be explored in the next season! So why is he just. Gone now? Everything about this arc is so so close to being an interesting story but according to Alice Oseman, Ben doesn't "deserve" that story.

To me it's just disappointing to see and feels, like @omnidudes keeps saying, lazy.
