wait wait waiiit. can you imagine exbf caleb who had an accident that led to a tbi with suspected memory loss? a loss so convenient that it happened to erase the last year and the eight months into your break up. and what else are you meant to do but show up when your former boyfriend of nearly four years calls asking for you? refusing to accept anyone’s attention but your own?

caleb who still looks at you like youre the sun, eyes shimmering with something beyond the confusion while he holds your hand. the physician staff is speaking to you both, but caleb only acknowledges you. 

its only natural of course, thats he’s discharged only under supervision. youre his emergency contact, the last secure individual he recalls. it helps that you kept the apartment after the breakup, caleb insisting on your comfort over his own. 

prescribed light medication and familiarity, what could you do but welcome your ex back into your space? left to watch as he ambles around like nothing changed. and for him, perhaps it didn't. you had no experience with loss of memory aside from a few drunken experiences.
