whenever im unsure of adding something to my wardrobe i just make these big collages with every reasonable combination i would pair with an certain item. most solid pieces are excluded because they're solids, you can shoehorn anything with a solid dress. my wardrobe is big enough to where i can make a 5+ combo rule before buying.

my hot take is that straight colormatching is for cosplaying noobs and if you know the very bare basics of color theory you'll do fine for everyday. i just align color temperature and its good enough.

This is why I stopped buying Merrill hiking boots. They used to last years, and my most recent pair fell apart within 6 months.

Also for those of you who like sewing: new Singer machines are shit. Can’t trust the brand names anymore.

I fucking despise when things fake being higher quality than they are. I don't mean like slapping a slightly misspelled brand name onto an identical non-designer product for purely aesthetic reasons I mean like rivets or thread that are actually glued down rather than punched or stitched. Fake pockets on jeans that are actually just an extra seam. Heavy looking chain that's plastic or very soft flimsy metal rather than anything sturdy. I bought boots which looked like they had a stitched sole 8 months ago and lo and behold the glue holding the sole on is revealing itself by falling apart. You PUT a STITCH IN THERE. YOU HAD THE NEEDLE AND THREAD. AND YOU DIDNT ACTUALLY STITCH DOWN THE FUCKING SOLES. Oh it makes me so mad. Cheap cunts taking the aesthetics of durability or practicality while handing you a product that won't last you the year

I'm just not used to people taking off their shoes unless they're going to be staying for a while. Likewise I'll keep mine on unless asked. Like what if my feet are stinky? Or what if their floors are dirty and I don't want to step in who knows what? And obviously, you don't keep them on if they're caked in mud or whatever, but there's doormats for the minor stuff. I try to keep my shoes clean to begin with, so I usually don't walk on the ground anyway.
