Hunters would underestimate him, at first. They'd think him docile and complaisant, because he submits and obeys. But August is intelligent and incredibly headstrong. He would have strong survival instincts and intuition - he would know when to remain passive and when to act decisively. He'd be quietly calculating.

That's not to say he would be a stoic whumpee.... not at all. He would still respond to pain and torture as anyone else would. He may scream, cry, beg and bargain. When the hunters come to grab him from his cell, he might shuffle away - scared.
