jjk 142,,, someone finally get his ass beat, but that's bc he operated on the assumption that choso was a shaman for some reason? or am i missing sth,, tbh i think it's possible that yuuta's presence was so overwhelming that naoya wasn't able to properly tell that choso was caught somewhere between human and curse
also?? they didn't show the yuuta vs yuuji fight conclusion so i'm 😭😭 did yuuta actually knock him out or did yuuta incapacitate yuuji long enough to maim him a bit to his heart's content before talking with him
and naoya is so prejudiced in so many ways it's a bit hilarious,, like a typical zenin he thinks that power is everything. but the zenin hierarchy of power places pure jujutsu technique and energy at the top. a true shaman would be able to rely on their technique and only on their technique. they don't have any need for a weapon. he probably thinks that cursed tools are unnecessary for the truly strong.
but for naoya, whose worldview shifted a bit growing up with toji, placed toji above the other elders somehow. toji had none of the typical shaman strength— he wasn't even a shaman lol — but he was overwhelmingly strong with a few cursed tools.
his brothers had tools, but they also had cursed energy, and yet they were nothing close to what toji was.
maki and toji supremacy 😌
but above "strength" naoya obviously prioritises "winning",,, if he brings around a weapon of his own
u can do whatever it takes to win, to look "strong", but u must not let others know
and i wonder if the zen'in hate naoya bc he never lets them forget that toji was the best of them even tho toji was worthless in their eyes LMFAO
thinking abt young naoya being a good kid who follows all the clan rules, including not picking fights with his seniors— the first time he breaks this rule is when his brothers throw toji into a swamp of curses he doesn't have the cursed energy to fight. toji doesn't come away from this unscathed; there's a scar cutting through the corner of his lips. he wins, tho, overwhelmingly. and then he might start admiring him from then on + his rebellion phase
and this chp kinda gives me a “a younger brother is strong bc their older brother is strong” vs “a younger brother is strong bc their older brother is weak” — i'm strong bc i want to be like you vs i'm strong bc i don't want to be like you vibe
CHOSO BEST BOY
ok but kamo clan > blood manipulation, bloodlines maintained for passing down cursed techniques, blood also the main vehicle for nutrients between mother and child
cursed wombs being a result of cursed energy optimization experiments and kamo wanting to understand how cursed spirits and humans could merge together so,, is he trying to figure out how to purposely induce CTs?? actually control their inheritance?
also looked further into the death paintings and they’re abt everything being ephemeral, the beauty of the real juxtaposed with the gruesomeness of death which is all one cycle but they're also supposed to be ero-guro,,, like all the subjects are supposed to be famous beauties
for a nice subversive modern version, there's matsui fuyuko,, she recreated the death painting with her own version - 🐱
i saw the raws and I think it’s so funny how naoya calls toji “toji-kun”
my theory is that if yuuta did make a binding vow with the elders, he killed yuji to fulfill it, counting on sukuna bringing him back. im sure yuji isn’t dead considering i don’t think sukuna would let that happen.
I think this chapter gave us really interesting insight into naoya’s mindset. it’s not the act of using weapons more than it’s “brandishing weapons as if it’s something to proud of”
naoya is an extreme individualist, someone that doesn’t rely on others, least of all his family. i’d think the three big clans would be especially tightknit, but naoya seems to be the type to do everything himself because he arrogantly presumes that other people would be nothing but a hindrance. that individualist vs collectivist mindset should be interesting.
sdjnfskfdnj the zenin’s HATING naoya yet having to put up with him as the heir....lmfao that would be so fucking funny. they can’t stand his bitch ass!!!
im banking on megumi being in the next chapter!!
