To anybody who has considered Eddie already having kissed a boy or been in a relationship with one pre-Shannon, it is 100% possible. He’s silly, repressed, and still figuring himself out. So it’s not out of the realm of possibility, and even him telling Father Brian (and the audience) that he’s straight makes no difference here. Alex Claremont-Diaz still thought he was straight after being with another boy romantically/sexually (book AND movie), and it took Henry kissing him to understand he’s bisexual. And let me be clear, I am not saying that Eddie Diaz is bisexual, I am fully on board the gay Eddie train. What matters here is that a catalyst was needed for Alex to realize he was bisexual, just like Eddie needs some sort of catalyst. Whether that’s a kiss from Buck, a near death experience, a life-changing journey to El Paso to get Christopher home, who knows right now. But what we do know is that Eddie is only just starting to reflect on who he is and what makes him happy. This is only the beginning of that self-reflection. Be patient, he’ll get there soon.
