The Winner of the Omar Rudberg Song Contest is...
DUM!!!!!
Of course it's Dum; I would've been shocked if Dum didn't win if I'm being honest. She is the GOAT. She is the QWEEN. There is no one like her
Thank you to everyone who's voted in and shared this series. And how fitting is it that we ended on my birthday? I couldn't have planned that if I tried. if you missed any other the polls or want to see how we got to this point you can search the tag "omar rudberg song contest" or click the link in the pinned post to see everything. I've had so much fun with this and I hope you did too! Who knows what series of polls I'm going to do next (cause I don't even know lol)

Highlights From Melodifestivalen: Week 3
The third semi-final of Melodifestivalen took place on Saturday, and it was a wonderful show. We were treated to seven great songs– it felt like the good old days! No time to waste, let’s get straight to the entries.
Who Made it to the Final: Jon Henrik Fjällgren and Lina Hedlund
youtube
If you’re not familiar with Jon Henrik Fjällgren, here’s his deal: born in Colombia, adopted by a Swedish Sami family, grew up herding reindeer and singing traditional Sami songs, called “joik.” This is his third Melodifestivalen, and Swedes love him. Every year, he’s gone straight to the final, finishing in second place in 2015 and third place in 2017. His latest effort, “Norrsken,” is as wholesome as it is fucking epic– you’ve got a key change!!! and singing to a reindeer and spinning in FIRE! This could be Jon Henrik’s year to win it all.
youtube
Another familiar face at Melodifestivalen is Lina Hedlund, although this is her first time in a while performing solo. She’s one third of the extremely important pop schlager group Alcazar, who have had many, many MelFest appearances. Well, Lina is back with “Victorious,” a pop SPECTACLE of monumental proportions. Lina’s voice shines in this song, and it’s the diva performance we needed in this competition. Luckily, Sweden thought so too.
Who Was Sent to Andra Chansen: Rebecka Karlsson and Martin Stenmarck
MelFest newcomer Rebecka Karlsson comes to us from Talang (Sweden’s Got Talent) and Idol 2016 with a big song called “Who I Am.” The presentation, let’s be honest, is a little dull, but the song itself is so catchy we can forgive Rebecka for the ribbon dancer. We’ll see her again at Andra Chansen, and fingers crossed they work on the staging.
Like his sister-in-law, Lina Hedlund (he’s married to her sister), Martin Stenmarck’s done Melodifestivalen several times before, winning in 2005 and bringing this mess song to Eurovision. He’s a confident performer and “Låt skiten brinna” (translation: ”Let the Shit Burn”) is his best effort in a while.
Who Was ROBBED: Everyone else!
youtube
The remaining three acts had fabulous songs and performances, but sadly, there’s just not enough room in the final for everybody. The Lovers of Valdaro won the P4 Nästa competition (an online contest to find new talent) last summer, securing their place in MelFest. “Somebody Wants” was a good showing, but they just couldn’t compete with some of the big names in the contest this week. Hopefully we’ll see them again.
youtube
Omar Rudberg, formerly of FO&O, went solo this week, hoping to do better than his old bandmate, Oscar Enestad. Well, he did, but only slightly: he came sixth for the week, and not seventh. These poor boybanders! Why has Sweden forsaken them? "Om om och om igen” (translation: “If If and If Again”) is a little raggaeton bop, and we hope Omar find his way onto some summer playlists in a few months.
youtube
And last but not least, Holly, Molly, and Polly, a.k.a. Dolly Style, performed this weekend and placed fifth. Dolly Style, if you don’t know, is made up of three “dolls” who live in a “dollhouse” together, and their target audience is small children and gay men. “Habibi” is their third time at MelFest, their previous attempts include "Roller Coaster” and the quintessential “Hello Hi.” Now, don’t look too closely at the “dolls,” the line-up has changed so much over the years, they’re actually on their fourth Polly (the purple one, duh). Dolly Style placed fifth this week, and won’t be continuing on. Even though "Habibi” has hit the Swedish charts at #5 (the highest of any MelFest song yet). So it seems Swedes will listen to this from the privacy of their earbuds but not vote for it?! I’m outraged too.
Next week is the fourth, and last, semi-final. We’ll soon have all the Swedish contenders and their songs for Eurovision!

Song 02 - Venezuela
Up next, our second country is nearby Venezuela. Our tango has taken us to the top of a building in the capital city, Caracas. They certainly like heights, don’t they?
El joropo is the national dance of Venezuela, similar to a waltz or fandango, and is generally performed to folk songs.
Representing Venezuela this year is Omar Rudberg, who was born in the country and now lives in Sweden. His entry for the contest, “på min telephone toda la noche”, combines Swedish and Spanish lyrics.

Conversation
Mina favorit GP kommentarer om bidragen:
Everyday: Mendez, som ännu inte lyckats sätta en ton rätt, sjunger ungefär som Rolandz dansar.
All the feels: Bara grymt att låte henne fortsätta.

MELLOSVE SUNDAY: TRIUMF OF ICONS
• Watch Mellosvepet as a clip on SVT Play
Jon Henrik Fjällgren and Lina Hedlund went straight to the final from Melodifestivalen 2019 in Leksand!
The icons
With yesterday's victory, Lina Hedlund takes the step and becomes an icon in the Melodifestivalen. With the exception of 2003, she has previously only participated as groups, but with the final place with "Victorious" she takes the step to become a full-fledged cultural carrier in the competition. Jon Henrik Fjällgren has the same position.
Hattricket
Jon Henrik does just like Wiktoria in this year's first competition and pinches his third final place on his first three trials in the Melodifestivalen. The list of former artists who succeeded with the same thing respects respect: Ace Wilder, David Lindgren, Eric Saade, Mariette, Molly Sandén and Måns Zelmerlöw.
Song language
With Jon Henrik Fjällgren's "Northern Lights" we get the first final song in Swedish in this year's festival. In the modern pop festival that the Melodifestivalen was formed into, English, pop music's home language, has become strongly dominant in recent years. But every year, about two grants in Swedish usually go to the final. Most recently a Swedish-language contribution was won by Lena Philipsson's "It makes evil" in 2004.
The curse
Start number 1 is usually successful in the Melodifestivalen. But this year it has led to two Second Chance places (Nano and Andreas Johnson) and a last place (The Lovers of Valdaro). And the contributions that qualify from the people's contest competitions Webbjokern, Allmänhetens competitions, Svensktoppen and P4 Next have still since the start in 2010 that best placed themselves in fifth place in a competition.
Eurovision Swede
Victor Crone sang to Second Chance with Behrang Miri in the 2015 Melodifestivalen with "It is not for us". Now he is ready for Eurovision. Last night he won Estonia's melody festival with the contribution "Storm", which he wrote himself along with among others Stig Rästa, who was the artist for the country in Eurovision 2015. In Estonia, you have a good eye on Sweden.
Can Victor take the proud tradition further and achieve a top result, as Anna Sahlene did in 2002? Or will it be an early exit as for Sandra Oxenryd 2006? Judge for yourself, here is the song ...
Result: Part 3 of Melodifestivalen 2019
Final: Jon Henrik Fjällgren
Final: Lina Hedlund
Second chance: Martin Stenmarck
Second chance: Rebecka Karlsson
5. Dolly Style - 819 062 votes
6. Omar Rudberg - 722,215 votes
7. The Lovers of Valdaro - 637 917 votes
The voting figures for the grants that have been passed are presented in the Expert Blog the week after the final.
• Number of votes: 6 305 045.
• Gifts for Radiohjälpen: SEK 662,869.

‼️Announcing the Omar Rudberg Song Contest‼️
In this series of polls Omar's songs will go head to head in a bracket style tournament until an ultimate winner is decided. All polls will be tagged #omar rudberg song contest and will be posted every other day on my blog.
I plan on posting each poll at 4pm EST and then reposting at 10am EST and again an hour before voting closes (3pm EST) so that everyone can get a reminder to vote before the 24 hour voting period closes.
I tried as best I could to make the matches as even as possible going off of how the songs sound sonically compared to each other, as well as language, vibes (upbeat, mid-tempo, latin influence, etc.), and lyrics. The first round of song match-ups goes as follows:
Yo Dije OUFF vs. Alla Ba OUFF
Mi Casa Su Casa vs. Moving Like That
Mi Casa Su Casa (slowed down) vs. Mi Casa Su Casa (sped up)
Mi Casa Su Casa (Omar’s edit) vs. I’m So Excited (live)
I’m So Excited (club version) vs. I’m So Excited (addition version)
It Takes a Fool vs. Symphony
La Mesa vs. Todo di Ti
Om om och om igen vs. Coast Side
In the Sunrise vs. Como Ayer
Pull Up vs. Que Pasa
Que Puedo Hacer? vs. På min telephone toda la noche
Läppar vs. Dale Bye
Jag e nån annan vs. Du är där
She Fell in Love in the Summer vs. Mama
Nakna vs. Call Me by Your Name
La Inconditional (Benjamin’s version) vs. La Inconditional (OMR version)
Dum vs. Breathe
The rest of the match ups will be determined by how everyone votes! I'm so excited to start this!
