Alex: Understandable.

Y/n: But he saw how conflicted I was. Because I wasn’t in a good position, mentally.

Alex: How so?

Y/n: a lot of things were going wrong. Things just weren’t in my favor. Do you know Murphy’s Law?

Alex: What can go wrong will go wrong. Right?

Y/n: Yeah. I used to blame a shit ton of my shortcomings on that. Then, I took some time to really reflect and concluded that I have a habit of sabotaging myself.

Alex: That’s the worst kind of sabotage.

Y/n: It really is. So, I decided that I needed to take a step back because I didn’t want my habits to affect him and our relationship. Eventually, I shared this, my thoughts, with him. It was a very tearful conversation but he understood.

Alex: And there’s no bad blood? No hatred?

Y/n: Absolutely not. We still talk sometimes. I visit him on set sometimes. We’re cool.

Alex: That’s really good. I wish I could’ve ended my relationships peacefully.

Y/n: It truly takes a special kind of understanding.

Y/n's a rather private person, only sharing little candids of her life online. She's never been one for the spotlight, but with the circling rumors about her and Lando, y/n knew she should take a step back. There's just one problem... she can't. The thrill of it all enthralled her, or maybe that was the Vanderbilt part of her. The part that loved attention, even sought it out. This game with the press was too fun, she couldn't stop now. Not when there's others to play with.

cara's paddock: I know it's not much, but I'm still trying to get a feel for how I want this story to go. For right now, all chapters will be social media with little to no writing. Y/n and [redacted] walk through the paddock. Internally laughing at all of the jaw-dropping expressions. Y/n and [redacted] enter the Cadillac Garage to see the shocked faces of Kevin and Nico.

"What the fuck?" Kevin says in disbelief, "When? Where?"

Y/n puts her finger to her lips, "Shh. Keep it quiet. I want to see if the press brings it up in the post-race interview."

Nico shakes his head. Partly in disbelief but also in amusement.

Post-Race Interview

The drivers are sat on the couch, awaiting the press.

One reporter speaks up, "Today was an amazing race, but I feel as if we should address the elephant in the room."

Lando picks up his mic, "I just can't believe she never told me. We're supposed to be besties!"

"I knew.", Lance responds.

"So did I." Max also responds.

The reporter speaks again, "So, it's safe to say that only a select few of you actually knew."

Charles answers, "I knew, but honestly I had partied too hard and didn't realize who it was. So...."

Y/n and [redacted] walk into the room. Everyone turns their attention to them.

A different reporter lifts their mic to Y/n's face, "Is there anything you want to say regarding this revelation?"

Y/n pushes the reporter's hand from her face, "Not really. Just that we've been together for a while and we are extremely happy."

She got her first ever dating rumor, and she was reveling in it. Of course, she and Lando had denied the rumor, stating that they were just friends. Lando was nice, but not her type. Lando shared the same sentiment.

The Welcome Gala

disclaimer: I lied on Sunday y'all, I'm sorry. As an apology, have the first chapter of this new fic.

The prestigious Queens College is hosting its annual Welcome Gala, a tradition where the student body’s most influential figures flaunt and give a warm welcome to the new blood. The most notable students are scattered around the ballroom.

There’s a guy near the door, dressed head to toe in Tommy Hilfiger.

Lewis Hamilton (The Intellectual): Son of Anthony Hamilton, Co-CEO of HAMILTON, a fashion brand with prices tailored to the low-middle working class.

Lewis is exceptionally smart, often engaging in philosophical and political discussions to challenge his own and others’ beliefs. He holds strong ethical values and isn’t afraid to stand up for what he believes is right. 

A few steps away from him is a young lady, wearing an elegant gown constantly being whisking around the room. 

Y/n Hamilton (The Socialite): Daughter of Anthony Hamilton, Co-CEO of HAMILTON, a fashion brand with prices tailored to the low-middle working class.

Y/n is effortlessly charming and knows how to work a room. She has a strong presence in Queens College’s social hierarchy and wields significant influence over her peers. She’s a trendsetter and key player in social events.

The gala’s atmosphere is serene and calm. But not for longer as a tall-ish curly-haired male runs over to the DJ booth. The soft orchestral music is abruptly cut off as loud melody and harsh beats of house music begins to play.

Lando Norris (The Artist): Son of Cisca and Adam Norris. CEO of Quadrant, an entertainment brand dedicated to putting smiles on faces around the globe through content creation. 

Lando is deeply passionate about his art, whether it be his music or Quadrant. He is reflective and often lost in thought. He’s emotionally attuned to his feelings and those of people arounds him. 

Wearing bulky headphones and stripping himself of his blazer, Lando is completely in his element. 

“Every time.” A small circle of guys are huddled by the bar. A brown haired guy shakes his head. He’s wearing a Gucci blazer, twill pants, with Louis Vuitton Kensington Derbys.

Lance Stroll (The Heir): Son of Lawrence, Queens College Investor and Owner of Aston Martin.

Lance carries himself with elegance and confidence. He takes his father's expectations seriously and works hard to live up to them. Lance values love and relationships, and his romance nature often drives his actions and decisions.

Beside Lance is a dirty blonde-haired boy, wearing a simple white Gucci button-up and black slacks with checkerboard Vans. "Not surprised. Lando hates being quiet."

Lance jumps slightly. "Where the fuck did you come from, Os?"

Oscar Piastri (The Chameleon): Son of Nicole Piastri.

Oscar is highly skilled at adjusting his behavior and personality to match any social context he finds himself in. He's keenly aware of social dynamics and nuances. Oscar can change his persona at will, which makes him an enigma to those around him.

"A magician never tells." Oscar waves his hands around, wistfully.

"He was standing in the corner earlier." A young man with dark brown hair, wearing a Ralph Lauren twill shirt, a cream-colored cable knit sweater, and tan trousers with Rossa Corsa Pumas.

Charles Leclerc (The Romantic): Son of Pascale and Herve Leclerc.

Charle is deeply passionate about the people and things he cares about. He holds a romanticized view of the world, often dreaming of perfect relationships and happy endings. Charles is highly empathetic, always attuned to the emotions of those around him.

Another young man wearing a Versace Formal Shirt, Mohair-blend Formal Pants, and Greca Loafers walks over to them. “Lando needs to stop that. Y/n’s getting pissed.” 

Alex Albon (The Loyalist): Son of Kankamol and Nigel Albon. Best Friend to Y/n Hamilton. Founder of Albon Athletics. 

Alex is fiercely loyal and values loyalty above all else, always going the extra mile to provide support and protection. He is someone others can always count on. Alex often puts the need of others before his own. 

Y/n is standing by the stage, looking as if she wants to drag Lando by his curls. She walks up to him and grabs a microphone.

"Thank you Lando for livening this event. We can always count on you to be ...loud."

Lando runs his hand through his curls, bashful.

"Anyway... I want to welcome you all to Queens College's Annual Welcome Gala. We do this every semester to new faces and brilliant minds into our wonderful learning institution. Therefore, please welcome our new students. Oliver Bearman, Andrea Antonelli, who I now know goes by Kimi, Jack Doohan, and Isack Hadjar. You four will go on to do great things here at Queens College, I know it."

The named freshmen raises their glasses to her in thanks.

"Now, In true Queens College fashion, LET'S PARTY!"

Lando turns the music back and everybody starts turning up.
