Fate, maybe? || Tom Blyth x actress!reader
Summary: after being each other’s celebrity crush and ending up dating, you both find out that you get the roles you have been auditioning for, as each other’s love interest. Sort’ve a part 2 to ‘And they meet’ go read it!!
Warnings: fem!reader
Wc: 1,192
A/n: yk I had to jump on to this when I found out that Olivia Cooke is gonna be the lead female actor for the new movie Tom is starring in (idk if it’s fully confirmed)
Tangled in each other’s embrace, the movie tangled playing in your living room as you both u mugs of coffee, the sudden ringing of your phone interrupted the moment.
Turning over your phone screen, your agent Lisa's name illuminates the display. Tom looks down at you, concern etched on his face. "Everything okay?" he inquires, and you hum in response, "Just my agent. I'll be back," you say, lifting the phone and rising, already yearning for the comfort of Tom's embrace left behind.
“Hello?” You say, closing the door behind you for some privacy. “Y/n I have great news!” You held your breathe, wondering what it could be. “You got the lead female for that movie you auditioned for a couple months back!” She excitedly squeals.
You lightly furrow your eyebrows, a brief pause betraying the effort to recall the specific movie amidst several recent auditions. Sensing your momentary confusion, Lisa interjects, "Sorry, I should've been more specific," and her chuckle follows, "A Farewell to Arms, remember?"
Your eyes sparkled with delight at the mere mention of the movie. "Oh my god, really?" you exclaimed, your hands instinctively covering your mouth in sheer excitement. "Yes! Congratulations, Y/n! You're going to do amazing in it! I'll email you more details," Lisa conveyed, her voice filled with genuine enthusiasm.
“Thank you! I’ll wait for it,” You stare at yourself in the mirror with a huge smile. When you hand up the phone you start silently squealing, jumping up and down in excitement. You had read the novel and absolutely loved it so when you found out they were making a film adaptation of it, you jumped at the opportunity.
Meanwhile, downstairs in the living room, Tom also received a call from his agent. “Hello?” Tom places the phone to his ear. “Tom! Good morning!” Amanda’s voice rings through the phone. A smile makes it to his lips, “Morning Amanda,” He chuckles.
“I have some news for you! Are you alone right now?” She asks as Tom looks over his shoulder and to the stairs you had just gone up. “Yeah, yeah I’m alone” He says, turning back around.
“You know that audition you did a couple months ago for the movie, a farewell to arms?” Amanda’s voice was one of excitement, “Yeah?” He gulped, “Tom, you did it! You got the lead male role!” The words hung in the air, sinking into Tom’s consciousness.
A grin stretched across his face. Trying to contain his excitement, he thanked his agent and ended the call just as you walk down the stairs, a smile on your face.
"You seem happy," Tom offered his signature smile, and you chuckled in response. "Very," you chimed in a sing-song voice, approaching Tom, who remained seated on the couch. Your arms gracefully wrapped around his neck, and you showered kisses along the side of his face.
You wanted to tell Tom about the role you just got but knew you weren’t allowed to until they officially released the news. So for now, you had to keep a secret from your boyfriend. Same went for Tom, he was dying to tell you about the role he just landed but, he had to wait.
~
You scrambled around the house in search of your scarf. “Babe! Have you seen my scarf?” You call out as Tom rushes to find his shoes. “The black one?” He calls back, tying his shoes. “Yeah!” “They’re on the counter here!” He picks up your scarf just as you come down the stairs.
You gratefully smile at him as he wraps it around your neck, “There, gorgeous,” His hands rest on your shoulder for a bit as he studies you. You lean in to press a gentle kiss on his lips.
“I gotta go, my drivers here,” You sigh as you sling your bag across your shoulder. “I think my driver will be here soon, have a good day today,” He grins, tucking his keys in his pockets.
The two of you were going to be out for the whole day. You were off to do a chemistry test with whoever the lead male was, and Tom was doing the exact same, but for whoever the lead female was. Little did the two of you know that you’d be seeing each other very soon.
You give him a final peck as you go on your tippy toes before leaving the house, getting into the car and driving off. The whole car ride there you were slightly nervous. Your head was swimming with thoughts about who would the male lead be.
Would we get along? Will we have chemistry? What if we don’t? Your thoughts came to a stop when the car came to a halt infront of a building. “Have a good day, Y/n. Hope everything goes well!” Trevor, your driver smiles at you. “Thanks Trevor, I hope so too,” You chuckle opening the car door and stepping out.
You were a couple minutes early but they let you wait inside. Your leg was slightly bouncing as you watch the clock on the wall. The male lead would be here any minute now.
Suddenly, the door opened where a young woman peeked her head out of, “Y/n Y/l/n?” “Yes?” You stand up, grabbing your things. The woman’s eyes look around the room, “Oh, he hasn’t arrived yet. That’s okay, you can start getting ready for chemistry test,” She smiles sweetly at you as you nod, following her.
She hands you a piece of paper with lines from a scene for the movie. As you scanned the words, a voice resonates from outside, "I'm so sorry I'm late! Traffic was horrible," a masculine voice apologizes, prompting you to lift your head toward the door.
It began to open and you swore your heart nearly stopped beating. “Tom?” Your jaw drops open as he freezes. “Y/n?” “What are you doing here?” You both say in sync as you burst out into laughter. Your eyes then move to the young woman who was grinning from to ear.
"I'm here for a chemistry test..." you trail off, and he responds, "Me too." The realization dawns on both of you, and smiles effortlessly spread across your faces. "So, this was the new project you're working on?" Tom chuckles, moving closer as you nod. "Oh my god, what a coincidence," you shake your head in disbelief.
"Who knew we'd be starring in the same movie together as lovers," he chuckled. "Crazy, right?" You smiled at him, and he kissed your cheek. The chemistry test kicked off seamlessly, a testament to the natural connection between you two. Being together made it a breeze, and the rapport you shared translated effortlessly into the scene, setting the tone for an easy journey while fillings
"The casting directors had already chosen you well before they found out that you two were dating," the young woman chuckled, skillfully removing the camera from its stand. A shared smile passed between you and Tom, a subtle acknowledgment of the serendipity that brought you together on and off the screen.

So I saw what happened with Olivia in the bar, and one thing I am not liking - aside from that bitchy woman calling her character a c*nt to her face (god I hate that word, I really wish people would stop using it) - is that folks are comparing Alicent to Joffrey and Jack Gleeson and saying that if viewers hate her that means she is doing a good job.
Well, the thing is, Alicent is not Joffrey. She does not come off as sadistic and cruel on screen. She is not meant to be hated - the comparison works better with Sansa and Catelyn.

OKAYOKAYOKAY BUT Olivia has basically introduced her parents to tiktok right??? So what if she catches them watchind edits of one another?? Like her mum watching Hugh and Wolverine edits and Hugh watching edits about her and her Marvel character?? And maybe even fans make edits about Wolverine and her Marvel character together like au’s where they meet or just because they love them as a real couple, and Olivia catches them sending each other those vids??
i ship it | hugh jackman
an: thank you for the request anon! ma!reader and hugh are definitely those people that see a pic of each other and say “damn is he/she single?”
marvel actress!reader masterlist
Olivia didn’t even realize her mom had tiktok. She saw the app installed on your phone one day and decided to see what your for you page was like. She guessed it would be a mix between cooking videos and cat videos, but she never would’ve guessed that your fyp was filled with edits of Logan Howlett and Hugh.
Your account wasn’t verified so the editors didn’t know it was you liking the videos. If they did then Twitter would’ve freaked out. Olivia didn’t mention it to neither you or Hugh. She actually found it funny that your tiktok was filled with edits.
She wondered if her dad’s phone was the same. So she checked one day when Hugh was taking a nap and left his phone unattended. Like you, he had the tiktok app installed. Olivia tapped it and, like expected, his tiktok was filled with edits of your marvel character.
“Cute.” Olivia commented as she scrolled down. She then saw an edit of your character and Logan. She found it adorable that people made edits of characters that have no relationship with each other only because their actors are together.
Later in the week, Olivia had caught you watching one of those edits with your character and Logan. It was the afternoon and you two were watching Legally Blonde on the tv. Eventually you got somewhat bored so you scrolled on tiktok and watched the edits that popped up on your fyp on low volume. Still, Olivia could hear them.
From the corner of her eye, she watched as you shared the video with Hugh. She couldn’t help but smile.
“What does ship mean?” You asked her. “Like ship as in a boat? A comment says I ship them so hard.”
“No, the person means they want two people to be together. Like Elle and Emmett, I ship them. Or another example, me and Spencer Reid.” Olivia explained.
“So this person really wants Logan and my character together? That’s nice. Thank you, I think so too.” You smile and continue scrolling. “I’m going to tell your dad that I ship us.”

it’s been just over a year since we got alicent’s driftmark monologue and the way olivia delivers the line “where is duty? where is sacrifice?” has never left my mind. that scene alone should have earned her an emmy nomination.

i saw such a good post that discussed the racism that bethany, steve and phoebe went through, how their characters were reduced, how their plots were disrupted, how the script was cut for their scenes, etc. I wanted to share it but then OP decided to use the post to bash olivia cooke, and it just...kinda pissed me off.
Op was upset that olivia cooke had bath scenes, and somehow, connected that to the reduction of the black character's screen time. and it just really really made me upset because here you have such a good post about racism, but in the end, you don't actually care about racism, you're just using the plight of black actors to be weirdly misogynistic to olivia - an actress who herself faces more misogyny, abuse and harassment than anyone in the cast.
of all the things you can bring up - you bring up olivia cooke. you don't bring up how, since s1, the black actors plots have revolved solely around rhaenyra and daemon, you don't bring up how in s2, the baela is literally just created to be a cheerleader for jace and rhaenyra, and her only purpose is uplifting them and being their mouth piece. to the point where her relationship with her grandfather is completely written out to uplift rhaenyra.
you don't bring up how phoebe's whole character is reduced to being a nurse maid for rhaenyra's children, and then at the end, only the very end, she comes across sheep steeler - and mind you, that is nettles plot. so we can also talk about how the show runners are now just seeing black character's plots as interchangeable which is racist in itself.
the reality is that the lack of scenes and development for the black characters is greatly tied to the white characters they interact with the most. That is Rhaenyra, Daemon and Jace. You can't tell me that their narratives aren't inexplicably connected to their white counterparts, to the point where they just have no agency. From s1, that's how it's been. The show has greatly, GREATLY, reduced them in order to make space for the white characters on team black. Laena was treated terribly by Daemon to make space for Rhaenyra, season 2 things aren't better. Better exists to coddle Jace, reinforce her love for Rhaenyra, and that's it. She isn't even allowed to have a relationship with Corlys because her whole narrative is centered around Rhaneyra. Corlys himself gets shamed for mourning LMAO,
There are certain reasons that Black characters are shelved, there is certainly racism and erasure that comes into play. But if you looked at the show, and you are seriously sitting here and just blaming Olivia Cooke - an actress who faces misogyny and abuse by the general public - then you don't actually care about Black characters.

Basically, the main reason why you find people who stan the Greens:
At least this guy had the courage to admit it.
I blame the showrunners for this.
They hire someone like Olivia Cooke to portray Alicent and then obsess about her beauty, put her in the spotlight and turn her into a sex symbol. And you see people actually falling for that.
Olivia Cooke is like 30 (younger than Emma D’Arcy even), and she is portraying a character who is supposed to be in her 40s at the time of the Dance.
Not to mention how ridiculous it is that the actress is only two years older than the actor portraying her on-screen son.
The pro-Green agenda of Ryan Condal and Sara Hess looks like this:
1. Get the sexiest possible actress to play a whinier, Virgin Mary version of the real Alicent Hightower (even though in book canon, she was never described as an actual beauty. She remained slim after four pregnancies. That doesn’t make you beautiful), and eliminate any notion that she wanted power, so you can make sure that people sympathize with her.
2. Come up with the idea that Aemond was bullied (even though he was the bully in canon).
3. Instead of respecting canon and making Aegon a lazy and fat drunk, give him daddy issues and attempt to “justify” his harassment of women.
4. Make Helaena a dreamer, so she can be more relevant (but she’s not).
Get the picture?
Rhaenyra Targaryen is clearly described as a very feminine person in the book, who loved dresses and jewels, and she had a very girlish personality (in no way did she want to be a knight, or a boy, LOL). She should have been portrayed as such.
I am tired of showrunners who use their money and connections to make their own fanfic out of a canon story. There are many sites for that where you can write how much you think the Greens are “misunderstood creatures” or how you think they should have won.
If you’re incapable of being non-biased when running a show who is supposed to follow a completed source, then just stay out of it.

This fandom is the absolute worst at separating the characters from the actors/actresses. Like the way people say the Tom Glynn-Carney should shut up cause his character is a rapist and he should have lost his dick, like he is aloud to be uncomfortable with talking about his dick exploding.
or how Fabian Frankel is hated by this fandom just cause you hate Criston. like He's playing a character that doesn't mean he needs to be hated!
or this one which weirds me out, when people ship Emma D'arcy and Olivia Cooke together. The people who do this the most are Rhaenyra x Alicent shippers. Also Emma is in a relationship with someone and is open about that fact! So back up and look at what your doing, most likely making people uncomfortable or feel hated for no fucking reason!
GET THE FUCKING DIFFERENCE!

I have so many thoughts on the execution of the B&C scene. Can’t quite get them in order.
I’ll say this, to start—Phia Saban did a great job with what she was given. Clearly a very talented actress. I just wish they’d given her more to do/say.
Also, removing Olivia Cooke as Alicent from the scene was a mistake. I don’t care about the whole pseudo-Catholic guilt element of her and Criston having sex while B&C was happening—it’s not nearly as compelling as it would have been to have Helaena and Alicent experience B&C together and explore the repercussions of that. Thematically, it would have been stronger, too—the generational trauma of it all.
And to clarify—I’m not saying that I wanted more gore, or the child actors to be more involved. Not at all. I’m also not saying that there should have been additional violence done to Helaena or Alicent beyond Alicent being restrained as she was in the book.
What I am saying is that the scene needed more interaction. Between Helaena and the assassins, between Helaena and Alicent—just something more than what we were given.
And if the intent was to have Helaena in shock and dissociating, as is my understanding of what I saw when she picked up Jaehaera and fled, they could have made it more apparent earlier through her dialogue with Blood and Cheese. Add more confusion on her part, you know? Or maybe have her mention the rats to herself, play into the idea that she’s living out the nightmare she’s seen play out in her head a hundred times, that she’s not entirely in the present moment, disoriented in time.
Idk. All I know is that the scene was underwhelming and I am disappointed.
