charlie was on a great adventure. her dad would disagree - in one of his several voicemails over the last couple days, he’d referred to her impromptu road trip as a delusion of grandeur, fool’s errand, or epic folly. she’d mistake this for concern for her if he hadn’t ended each with “charlotte, if you don’t bring back that bentley, i will call the police!” in fairness to him, the car was probably worth more than her.

but he wouldn’t call the cops; it would make too much of a scene. so his hands were tied as charlie was free to roam across the country for the remainder of summer vacation on a grand trip of debauchery and hedonism. you know, since she didn’t have anything else to do and had no future. why not?
