303: Procopius of Sycthopolis is martyred as the first of the Palestine victims in the Diocletian persecutions.

1438: The Pragmatic Sanctions of Bourges, issued by King Charles VII of France, asserts Gallican liberties against the papacy.

1522: The Zurich council summons Conrad Grebel and three of his friends and forbids them to speak out against monks during their sermons.

1755: John Berridge is admitted to the vicarage of Everton, an obscure village on the edge of Bedfordshire, England. He will retain the position for the rest of his life, even after he becomes a famous evangelist.

1818: Walter Scott arrives in New York from Scotland, and soon will become a leader and educator in the growing Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement.

1821: Moravians at Okkak, Labrador, report that the sky toward the west becomes black at 7 AM and soon their settlement is plunged into darkness. They are forced to use candles until about 10 AM after which the sky becomes fiery red. Some Eskimos at sea will report afterward that something like ash fell upon their boat.

1859: Episcopalian bishop William Jones Boone the elder consecrates Samuel Schereschewsky with deacon’s orders in St. George’s Church, New York. Schereschewsky will become a notable missionary to China and a bishop.

1873: Lottie Moon is appointed to China by the Foreign Mission Board, Southern Baptist Convention.

1878: Francis J. Grimké is ordained a Presbyterian minister. He will emphasize honesty, hard work, thrift, and eternal values. “It is only what is written upon the soul of man that will survive the wreck of time,” he declares. He will also join in organizing the American Negro Academy in 1897.

1896: The Gospel Missionary Union becomes the first “faith mission” to enter Ecuador in the persons of J. A. Strain, F. W. Farnol, and George Fisher.

1907: Death of Anna Louisa Walker Coghill at Bath, England. She had authored many poems and the popular hymn “Work, for the Night Is Coming.”

1935: Death in Alexandria, Egypt, of Orthodox patriarch Meletius Metaxakis, a zealous reformer who had also taken steps to create a Greek Archdiocese in North America. He was the only man successively to lead three autocephalous (independent) Orthodox Churches. He had also sought to bridge the gap between Orthodoxy and the Anglican Church.

1944: Death of George Washington Truett, who had pastored the largest Baptist church in the world—the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

                  fire cannot kill a dragon. true and honest words they were as once again, daenerys stormborn had lifted herself from the flames  –––  unscathed and unburnt. this time, she had arrived in meereen with another army that stood fiercely behind her  ;  a hoard of warriors and horselords all in the same instance, though they had chosen their khaleesi and that had not come because of who she had married, those many moons ago. no, the silver haired queen  had been the one whom had defeated the khal’s who ruled over the camps and now, she was the one whose braids had grown. tresses of silver cascaded beyond her waist, a waterfall of platinum in homage to the blood that ran through her veins ... that, of old valyria.

and so, she had. the mother of dragons, the breaker of chains and the khaleesi of the great grass sea would pave her way back to westeros. her armies would lay waste to those who had stolen what was hers by right ... and she would take it back, with fire and blood. but until then, she would have to travel across the narrow sea and forge her battle plan. for years, the world had been an unfair and unjust place to live. they would tell stories of her reign  ;  tales of when daenerys targaryen came to westeros and freed those from the chains they had lived in, without ever knowing. she had been born to liberate the world, a prophecy written just for her.

even now, in meereen where slavers bay had turned into the bay of dragons, the war was not over. and it would never be over until the realm was free of dictators like cersei lannister  –––  usurpers, dressed in lion’s pride and embodied by riches. the wheel would be broken and daenerys targaryen would be the one to do it. spokes emblazoned in flames as scorching lava erupted from the stomachs of her children, splinters of wood chipping and chiming until such a might was burned to mere ash. though, it would not be possible without her advisers. nor her unsullied, or dothraki. the time had come for her to pay such respects to them in meereen and that meant, hosting a feast for them all in celebration of their recent conquer.

daenerys could remember her wedding, as though it was a memory that she relived each night. the debauchery of dothraki screamers, the echo of drums being beaten throughout camp, the look on her husbands face as he revelled in the glory of it all ... and yet, this was somewhat different. there was nothing chaotic, nor frantic about the revelry. but still, she felt the need to find a quiet moment to herself. whilst another plait found itself weaving amongst the royal wisps of her hair, there was still plenty to be done and it would not be achieved over night. fingertips cradled themselves around glass encrusted by gold and as she pressed the cool crystal to her lips, the heavy doors that followed behind her opened  ;  a creak spilling into the room. privacy was not something that she received much of anymore, though it did not bother her. she was to be a queen, of the seven kingdoms that once belonged to her father. her people were her priority, from the very day that viserys’ fate had chosen itself after he dared threaten her and her unborn child. she still thought of it, almost every day. 

amethyst hues anchored themselves against the dark figure, the mere light of torches glinting on either side of the door and as she soon recognised the war paint that adorned his shoulders and chest, a light smile allowed itself to splay across her petals. the silence between them was soon filled by the faint twinkle of bells that sung a melody through the air, the low tune of its metalwork creating a symphony the quiet whispers of flames igniting her audience chamber which still felt somewhat foreign to her, after her unplanned departure.
