For the handholding prompts! Rukebox + 11?
Luke hated New York. It was so big and busy, crowded with people who shoved and pushed without giving you a second thought. He still wanted to play here, conquer Madison Square Gardens, but being a tourist here sucked.
"Come on Luke! We have to hurry if we want to get rush tickets to Hamilton!" Julie called, grabbing his hand and tugging him towards where Reggie was waiting. He grabbed onto Julie, the three of them hurrying towards the theatre.
They wove in and out of the crowd, not letting go of each other so as to not lose each other in mass of people. Luke didn't really mind holding onto their hands, honestly any excuse to touch Julie and Reggie was fine with him. If he could function without the use of his hands, Luke would probably never let them go.
They arrived at the theatre, and stopped when they saw the mass of people in the line to get tickets and Reggie grimaced. He knew they all had their hearts set on seeing this show, but the chances looked slim. "Julie, do you still wanna try for tickets here or should we go to our second choice?"
Julie looked at the throng of people in front of them with dismay. There was no way there would still be tickets left once they got even half way through the line. She had so wanted to see the sensation that was this show, especially when it was written by a fellow Puerto Rican, but it seemed it was not to be. Not this time, but she knew that one day they would be back here. Maybe famous enough to get tickets offered to them, maybe doing shows that frantic college students on vacation would rush to try and get. But for now, they needed a plan. "Do you think we can get to the Belasco in time?"
"If we run," Luke said, "maybe we can get there before the doors close. Come on!" He grabbed both of their hands, and took off.
"Luke it's the other way!" Reggie called, Julie giggling from his other side.
"Oh yeah, I knew that," Luke replied sheepishly. He then turned around, running in the other direction, still holding tight to both of his partners hands.
They made it to the ticket office panting for breath, and someone must have been looking down at them, as there were three seats all next to each other still available. The seats weren't great, but they were affordable and available, so the trio took them. They quickly found their seats, hands still clutching each other as they took in the theatre, the car and scarp metal decorating the stage. They bounced in anticipation for the genius of John Cameron Mitchell to begin, grinning as the lights lowered and the usual reminders about cell phones rang out. They had already silenced their phones before they left the hotel, so there was no problem there.
Then, a loud booming voice echoed through the theatre, "Ladies and gentlemen, whether you like it or not... Hedwig!" The audience erupted into rapturous applause, and though Luke found it kind of hard to clap while still holding Reggie and Julie's hands, he didn't dare let go, not for anything. Not even for Hedwig, but he did let out an ear splitting whistle, earning him a few glares, but hey, it was a rock show musical, what did they expect?
The three of them loved the show, bouncing around in their seats, singing along when prompted, and Luke kind of regretted not being able to sit in the front row as he watched various audience members get car washed or smooched rather viciously by the star of the show. Though he silently thinks he would pay to see how red Reggie would have gotten if he was picked to experience either.
The three of them only let go of each other's hands at the end of the show, leaping up to give the cast a standing ovation, but as the masses left the theatre in hopes of an autograph, they linked palms once more, and went out into the New York City night, ambling of towards their hotel, never letting go of one another as they walked, discussing the show, and planning on what they would see next time they came to visit.
