Thai QL Favorites Tag game

This is my first tag game I’m rather excited,

Thanks @waitmyturtles and @lurkingshan for the tag.

My time on Tumblr has been less than 2 months, and prior to this I primarily watched TV for escapism and wasn’t particularly fussed about how closely shows adhered to reality or its values, so some of that will definitely be reflected here. (Previous genres of TV I’ve been invested in are anime and fantasy, I have seen soooo little western romance or queer cinema or high school movies or a lot of things).

Disclaimer: Emphasis on favourite over best

Also I appreciate Thai BL way more since coming to Tumblr but I have seen rather few shows in that time so there’s a ton I need to watch or rewatch with context that I haven’t yet (Moonlight Chicken, The eclipse, Bed Friend, ITSAY, He’s Coming to Me, My School President and more) so I can’t include them on this list like everyone else seems to be!

I honestly think brevity is an extremely envious skill, and I do not have such skills so here goes.

Favorite Thai QL: SOTUS S (Including the Our Skyy episode) or maybe To Sir With Love, It hasn't been long enough for me to tell yet but both those shows made me scream in different ways

Favorite Pairing: I assumed this was like character couple but some Tumblr searching suggests otherwise. I have watched 0 behind the scene’s footage except what rolls through tumblr and my youtube shorts and I am still learning actors names (Y’all have a habit of referring to actors in photos by their pairing name (e.g. offgun) without context on which one is WHICH so it’s hard to learn names that way lol.

Having said that I started watching BL because Between Us was airing and rolled through my youtube shorts and my first 3 BLs were all watched because of BounPrem (BU, UWMA & Cutie Pie) because I liked their dynamic.

Most underrated actor: see previous statement on my actor confusion. I'll sit down and make a list with pictures one day... or maybe not because that seems creepy

Favorite Character: Arthrit. Seriously I have rarely gotten so attached to a single character, I loved him so much, my demi ass had no idea what I was supposed to do with my actual fricken emotions. I finished SOTUS S with 50 screenshots of him FOR NO REASON. Also, Ae in Love by Chance killed me dead.

Favorite Side Character: I’m taking this as a pairing and choosing ForthBeam from 2 Moons 2, a very recent watch of mine. I thought MingKit was going to be my favourite part of that series and then ForthBeam showed up and knocked them straight out of the park.

Favorite scene in a QL: I sat here for a while deciding whether or not honesty was the best policy, and I decided yes it was SO:

It’s from Love In The Air and it’s a scene between Pai and Sky where Sky is sleeping (nearly recovered from being sick) and the camera switches between Sky’s sleeping, somewhat exposed self and Pai and his ever fraying control as he looks at and away from Sky's sleeping form and he leans closer, and closer, even as he tells himself not to, even as he speaks out loud 'not to loose control now' he leans closer still. Then Sky wakes up, just as Pai’s face is centimetres from his, and Sky asks ‘are you going to jump me P’Pai’ and Pai breathes rather quickly and heavily as he leans back stands up and announces that he needs to use the bathroom before walking swiftly away.

THE RESTRAINT, IT KILLS ME OKAY.

Although Tian & Lomfon’s final confession and kiss has been looping so often it might be a serious contender, It’s just too soon to say.

Favorite line in a QL: It’s not technically one line but AePete in the locker room after the makeout where Ae asks Pete to be his boyfriend (or some variation thereof) SEVEN TIMES wins for me. That boy is determined to have a clear answer.

Most Anticipated QL (& why): I don’t keep track of upcoming BL, that’s 70% of the reason I initially got Tumblr, everyone’s excited for Only Friends so that one. Or there was one with the pair from Bed Friends that looked interesting, or ZeeNew’s actually with the prince.

Healthiest relationship in a QL: I have not thought about this very hard, but WinTeam maybe? Although they need to communicate better. Also ForthBeams relationship actually seems really healthy too.

Most toxic relationship in a QL: VegasPete, although a rewatch of Kinnporsche with additional context might change my thoughts, (also I haven’t seen tharntype)

Guilty pleasure series: Don’t Say No & Love in the Air although I feel guiltier about the second and I love the first more.

Most Underrated Series: I do not know enough about how series have been rated to make a call, but I was shocked to be told La Pluie was doing badly on mdl so that one.

One Pound Gospel - Volume 1

Yay, new series! (This one was next on MAL after 0 Man). Happy to be reading something by another icon (Rumiko Takahashi). I've never heard anyone talk about this one at all, so I don't know what general opinions are nor do I know anything about the plot. Let's go!

Ch. 1

So we got a boxer in love with a nun...I saw a commenter comparing this premise to Nacho Libre and now I can't unsee it.

(I might need to include a rewatch of that movie, for the meme).

Anyways, our leads are Kosaku and Sister Angela. Kosaku seems like a head empty jock who thinks with his heart and stomach. Sister Angela seems like she can whip him into shape (emotionally lol).

Despite having watched most of Ranma 1/2, I don't think I've ever read a Rumiko Takahashi manga? Craziness! This isn't her first work but it's one of the earlier ones from the 1980s, so I'm expecting some newbie scuff (or maybe she was just a legend from the start?)

Christianity in anime/manga isn't that uncommon, but to have it be one of the main focuses is intriguing. I wonder if we'll find out how Kosaku and Angela came to the religion as Japanese people?

I don't care about boxing at all IRL, but I don't mind reading about it and learning the lingo. Maybe I'll gain an appreciation I didn't have before lol.

Didn't like Kosaku forcing a kiss on Angela (her being a nun makes it extra scuzzy). Oh the 80s...

Ch. 2

See? I'm already learning stuff. Apparently boxers aren't supposed to drink water during a fight (just rinse) and they're not supposed to have sex prior to the fight (I already knew about that one, but this reminded me). That second one's more of a superstition though.

I wasn't sure if Sister Angela wearing her habit all the time was realistic, but I googled it and apparently in some cases that is enforced. Also, I've seen nuns in public wearing habits, so I guess it's legit.

Sister Angela getting plastered was kind of funny but her breaking her wine bottle was a bit extreme. She's kinda unhinged in general, she shows up at Kosaku's match and tells him she'll never forgive him if he loses? (Seems toxic but okay)

The strategies Kosaku's coach has him using to make weight are kinda fucked up (borderline disordered). Starving himself, laxatives and sweating the weight off. I'm sure that happens plenty IRL though. Pretty sad that athletes feel the need to put their bodies through that.

Ch. 3

People in Japan...they can't actually down like 5 bowls of ramen right, that's just an anime thing? I eat one bowl and I need to lie down lol.

I look forward to seeing the food in the adaptations of the manga. Particularly in the live action.

The crucifix falling over when Angela prays for Kosaku was a funny gag.

At this point in the story the focus is definitely more on Kosaku's boxing career than on romance. I wonder if it will kind of go back and forth between the two or if the romance will always just be on the sidelines?

Ch. 4

I can't tell if Kosaku has a food addiction or if they're literally starving him. They never show him eating healthy/low calorie food that's approved by his coach so it kind of feels like he's just not allowed to eat at all. Anyone would obsessively seek out food if that's the case! He did mention "diet" earlier, so I'll hope it's not...

If I was let loose in Tokyo I'd struggle with food temptation too lol. So much street food... (Wait, is this set in Tokyo?)

Ch. 5

Kosaku stumbles into a win after throwing up in the ring again. Apparently you're allowed to win by yeeting your opponent outside the ring? Seems wrong, but what do I know

All this starvation-binge stuff is making me a little nauseous. There's gotta be a better way!

Ch. 6

You know how straight dudes in the 1980s dressed in a way that seems gay-coded by today's standards? That's kinda what Kosaku's giving. He's really cute. (Not much of a personality tho)

Takahashi sure likes her repetitive gags doesn't she? A lot of "comedy" anime do this and it's frankly kind of frustrating. I'm not gonna laugh when you do the same joke for the millionth time...

They seriously just should have put him in a heavier weight class sooner, but it feels like I'm missing something here. Why does it matter which weight class you're in and why are some more sought after than others? -shrug-

I also don't get the "4 rounds" vs. "6 rounds" thing. Is it like baseball vs. softball or something? At least Sister Angela is just as clueless as me!

Ch. 7

Okay so apparently you pick your weight class based on your bone structure, I get it I don't really get it

Okay, I immediately hate Onimaru for begging his pregnant wife to have a son and not a daughter 😒 I hope Kosaku kicks his ass

It almost seems like a conflict of interest to have your friend do your confession, no?

This series is reminding me of Spy x Family. Like you know how in that show Yor's plotline is mostly sidelined compared to Loid's? That's kinda how the Kosaku/Angela balance feels here.

Ch. 9

I really don't know anything about boxing, so I don't know what makes a good or bad fight, but this one seemed really pathetic lol. I'm glad at least Onimaru wasn't a sore loser, he probably needed to be humbled anyways.

The manga seems to be implying that Kosaku is fat which...huh? He doesn't look fat at all? Sure, he eats like a fat person but...I think 1980s "fat" meant something different lol.

IDK why Angela is so set on Kosaku being in the lower weight class. I guess it's good to be disciplined, so she sees that as the morally right thing to do?

So so far this seems like a very low stakes manga. It's leaning more towards the sports genre than the romcom, which isn't really what I expected. Well, after 0-Man I could definitely use an easy-breezy read like this. Onto the next volume!

After seeing the TMNT: Mutant Mayhem movie where would u place the MM characters? I know u were wondering if Rise Leo could go from 3rd to 4th, with MM Leo 4th (I think) to 3rd in ur rankings. Once u actually see the movie proper.

(Honestly, me myself have Tmnt 2012, IDW, Rise, and 2003 are probably in my top 4. Though I don’t know which order, except Tmnt 2012 is probably #1. And MM Leo, from what I have seen of him could be up there w/ them too. I’m thinking about it).

So I’m curious about ur new rankings now that u saw the movie.

(I have kinda mixed feelings, on MM Leo maybe taking Rise Leo’s 3rd spot for u. Because on 1 hand, I love Rise Leo a lot, and think he is a very complex boy.

(On the other hand, I also love MM Leo from what I have seen of him, and I’m happy to see how much love MM Leo has been getting by people. So mixed feelings, lol. I’m still curious on ur rankings though. And this is is ur own opinions too. This is just me rambling, ahaha.)

If your talking about where I'd place the boys when it comes to my top favorite versions of each of the turtles well it's somewhat tough ngl.

With Leo, he is still in a tie with Rise Leo to be either my 3rd or 4th favorite. I love the silly guy a lot and he is such a cutie patotie. I'm still mixed on how I should rank him. Although he is in my top 5 favorite Leo's. For anyone curious my top 5 are 2012, 2003, Rise, MM and 2007.

Raph, I don't know man, tough one. I suppose 6 or 5?? IDW might come back to being one of my favorite Raph's again because ngl looking back I feel like I bashed him too much even though I haven't red the IDW comics. I have finally started to thanks to a moot of mine who sent me a link to where I can read all of the IDW issues. So maybe IDW Raph will come back into the game. Who knows. Also for anyone curious about my top 5 Raph's, it's 2007, 2003, 2012, Rise and like mentioned either MM or IDW (Considering bayverse and 90s up for the challenge...)

Mikey, easily 4th in my opinion. I love him so much and I've seen people suspect he might end up having some major story when the show comes out and if something might happen or he goes thru an arc of sorts. I really hope that happens! So right now, Last Ronin, IDW, 2003, MM and I guess 2012 or TMNT vs Batman maybe.

Donnie at last, I think he is fit to be 3rd. I don't know, I love how he is just a nerdy nerd. I think the reason why is because he has so many funny moments and I love his personality. I do hope we see him be more of a tech guy as well. For now, 2003, bayverse, MM, IDW most likely and I suppose MAYBE 2007 or 2012 or probably Batman vs TMNT. I'm trying here okay.

This might change, especially since there will apparently be a two season cartoon coming next year. So let's see how my boys do!

Also I'll probably make new rankings for the turtles. I've got some catching up to do on more TMNT's and also some episodes to rewatch and or finish-

not to sound like a copycat, but my fave is also Mikey 🤭!! 2k12 has a special place with me because it was my intro to the turtles, but 2k3 is phenomenal- also, the 2007 movie whenever i want Leo & Raph angst lmao. that rooftop fight scene in the rain 💔 hmmmm okay SO initially my fave pair was Raph and Mikey, but then in my most recent rewatch, i was like 👀 the Leo and Mikey dynamic sooooo maybe a tie between those two?? but also pretty much anyone with Mikey is a+. it’s so hard to pick. and this isn’t a pair necessarily, but donnie pov things where he’s like analyzing his role/relationships- i am an absolute sucker for those.

ajsjasjsksk STOP ✋, you’re going to make me cry, i will legit never forget reading that scene for the first time and BAWLING. the movie is such a comfort movie, used to rent that sucker from the library, and now i stream it all the time. it’s nice to have on, even if i’m not actively watching hehe

Ahhh that makes me so happy that you're also a Mikey stan! I have such fond memories of laughing while watching 2k12. I was sooo sad when Leo's original voice actor got fired and replaced though. His voice fit so perfectly with the other turtles. That's the one thing about 2k12 that makes me 😭. Well, that, and the season they spent most of in space. I preferred the NYC based seasons. But other than that, 2k12 was fun and angsty. Plus it had the cheese phone! *gasp* The cheese phone! Truly an emergency! It also had the scene of Tiger Claw trying to get Mikey, and Mikey just like... throwing himself off of the subway train or whatever the hell it was. Ahh that was a good season for some little Mikey hurt/comfort moments.

Ohh yes the famous Raph and Leo 2k7 movie fight. I'll be honest, I can't really stand the entire plot of that movie, and I also hate the fact that they cut the scene of Donnie telling Splinter he couldn't have any birthday cake bc of his health, and Mikey then sneaking Splinter a piece of cake 😭. 2k7 is also funny because it's Splinter being like, "Leonardo, you must go learn to be a leader by yourself in the middle of nowhere." And it's like, uh idk, sounds like he kinda needs a team to practice leading alksdja. Why did he even need to practice at all 😭.

Yeees the Mikey and Raph dynamic is stellar, and if you haven't read the IDW comics, I love the moments they have together in that as well. Lol now I'm thinking of that scene in 2k3 where Mikey was pretending to be hurt, and Raph was like, "What is it, Mikey?? I'm right here." And then Mikey just laughed at him ASLKDJA. Love when they annoy each other but also act soft/loving to each other.

I love Donnie and Mikey. They're the fun adhd/autism duo, and I love that some ROTTMNT stans refer to them as the smarts and crafts duo. Smarts and crafts 😭. That's so cute 😭. And yeees love Donnie POV things.

You stream it all the time?? Ahhh that's amazing. I actually have the complete novel version of the movie on DVD, I haven't watched it in a long time. I can't remember if it's the edited version or the novel version that has the shitty music 😭. You know what's funny though is that my phone ringtone is actually a song from the soundtrack. It's "Gloria" by Them and Van Morrison. Think it plays while Dally, Pony, and Johnny are walking to the movies and chase those little kids with the cards alsdkja.

I've read more than 150 books this year though, so.. I can't just choose and you can't make me lol.

20. Hmmm.. I've learned something about how I need to take care of myself, especially in work situations. I need clear instructions or the task will simply overwhelm me and I'll end up in decision paralysis. I've also learned that when I'm on my ADHD meds, I can actually have a fun time going out to parties or concerts, so I wanna do that more in the new year too.

21. My old bed broke (too much weight on it is the suspicion) so I got a new one! the new one is way taller than I'm used to, and it's amazing haha

22. Oh man.. I haven't really been far from home much this year, only in books and such.. I think it might've been Copenhagen Pride. It's not far from home, and it's not a place that's always around, but I felt welcome there, even at night, and nobody looked at me weird, so it just felt.. right. I wish we could have Pride every day haha

23. Keep working for the goal, we got there. People might not see that you're struggling to stay afloat, but I know you are, and you're doing well!!

25. I did!! Several actually. I finished my Fursona Odd after having worked on it for like 18 months lol.. But that's just a silly character I can get art for. The more interesting characters are my DotW ones.

First off I made this lil kiddo, who turned out to be somewhat hard to write, so I'll be retiring it again, until the day I feel like I can connect again. It is a new iteration of an old character I have held dear to my heart for years, but it turned out too jaded for me to write. It's hard to get a connection to others when your character is slightly mono-syllabic and hates other people..

And then there's my blue tired wet man Harakh. He's an adopted character I made, so the overarching parts of his story and personality had been chosen already, but I still got to give him my own twists, and he has a full story coming for him, that I'm really excited to share, though I don't know how much you guys here on Tumblr will get to see haha

He's the father of one of the other characters, and was born half blind and sickly, so he has learned the trade of storyteller in order to stay fed and have company and he hopes to be able to do so, even with the tragedy that happened to him.

Oh boy this is like an impossible question to answer. All over the place, really! Sometimes its from real life experiences. I actually drew a few ideas for Secret from another fic from a completely different fandom (a sexually experienced character guiding an inexperienced character carefully through their first sexual relationship). Some ideas I get from bouncing them off my friends and beta readers. Some ideas I get from you guys!! You send me asks about my hc and it makes me think about them and the ideas start to flow! I will say I DID NOT get the secret relationship idea from red white and royal blue lol. I'd been plotting this for a while before I heard of the book/movie. After I watched the movie I was like. people are gonna think this was the inspiration for my fic and it just wasn't!

14. What is your favorite location and position to write in?

My favorite? comfortably seated at a table or desk. Maybe a cozy blanket around my shoulders. A footstool for comfort. However I'm usually writing on my phone between clients at work or sitting on my couch after the kids go to bed or are otherwise occupied (I promise I don't neglect my kids, they have another parent lol and we both make sure the other has plenty of time for our hobbies).

18. Do you enjoy research? Which fic of yours required the most research?

Ugh research. I wouldn't say I don't enjoy it, but I don't enjoy the time it takes. I'll be like. Okay. I need to go to bed at 10:30. it's 9:30. I have an hour to write. And then I run into something I need to research before I can write. before I know it I've been looking into the topic for 45 minutes and now my writing time is almost gone!!! Windswept has actually required a lot of research. between rewatching season 3, trying to expand on canon with realism (numbers stations/ciphony tech of the time period, international law enforcement collaboration, bird lifecycles, etc.) I also spent a lot of time and thought into how I'm portraying bending in this one, like how bending feels, how it works, the differences in how it feels to airbend vs firebend... Also. I used a color dropper on Wu's eyes form screenshots of the show, and compared it to several swatches of green to figure out what Mako was going to think about Wu's eyes the first time he saw them. As soon as the swatch for "Moss Green" was up and matched Wu's eyes almost perfectly, Mako's over-the-top description of Wu's eyes entered my brain and I was like "YES THIS IS IT"

Hey! I love that pink heart you chose! Unfortunately I didn't end up seeing the movie last night but maybe I will go sometime next week. I haven't really gotten any spoilers but probably wouldn't care anyway. My favorite movies are mostly musicals..like I will watch any musical. That and teen movies are what I would rewatch the most. I watched Schmigadoon/Schmicago recently and I just finished Ted Lasso. Central Park is another musical show that's animated I'm watching. The Summer I Turned Pretty is definitely on my list and also the new season of the Bear. His other show called Shameless used to be one of my favorite shows. I never finished the last season but would still recommend. I will also watch any teen drama..like Gilmore Girls The OC Gossip Girl..I am in the middle of these but it's been years lol. I am not really a horror fan unless it's Stephen King I guess. That's probably my least favorite.

Any surprise song I will be fine with basically. But since you asked me what I would or wouldn't prefer..that would be my answer lol. I know some people like Closure too. I would probably prefer Me and I know some people hate it lol. I guess it's true what people say.. about every song being someone's favorite song and that's what makes it fun..and she still has a lot of songs left too. I know she probably won't play Mary's Song or Renegade but I'm still hoping. It's not something I'm worried about though. I'm sorry you didn't get Foolish One at your show. I'm just so excited for everything..including seeing the costumes and sets. Haha I stopped watching livestreams after the first show but me and my sister still try to guess the surprise songs every night and now this next show we will be there. One time I guessed You all over me cuz of the June lyric and she guessed I Wish You Would and got it right..and the next night she played You All Over Me..and that was the closest we ever got. I think I got I Think He Knows right too. We will probably try not to make any guesses for our show though and I hope I didn't jinx anything lol..unless it's one I really want lol.

I thought I was the only one who wanted a compilation video of all the guardians appearances minus Gamora's death scene. I always have to fast forward past her death and then I pause and replay the scene where Peter hits Thanos in the face. Thanos getting wacked in the face repeatedly is incredibly soothing to me. I'm not sure I'll ever look back on parts of Infinity War with fondness. The movie started out as if I was eating one of the best meals I've ever had and then suddenly someone peed on my plate, dumbed it on my head and stabbed me with my fork. My whole appetite was just gone. I'd pay good money for one long gotg movie with the murder and abuser is so sad bits edited out.

Yess I feel this so much 😭. I remember that I was trying not to spoil myself before going into IW but inevitably caved and checked some document or something of spoilers I saw being shared on twitter and I remember being like... this has to be fake. Why would Gamora die??? And I was going to see the earliest possible showtime in my area so low-key I was like maybe this person is lying. But at the very least the idea had been introduced so by the time they finally got to it I was like oh it's happening. And I kinda could tell because they were giving us such good Starmora content too. But I still couldn't believe how bad it was. I had been struggling really bad with my depression at the time and had just started taking antidepressants but wasn't used to them yet and I literally went home and cried and cried and my mom was like, really concerned about me actually. The Guardians, especially Gamora, had recently become my really strong comfort characters so it was such a hard shock. I can't imagine having zero warning going in. And the image of it is still seared in my brain too 😕. I remember being so mad when people were making fun of Peter afterwards for fucking stuff up and I'm like... okay but that's how I feel too!!! And that part felt pretty genuine to me!!! And Doctor Strange said it was the only way it could have happened!!!

No and then Endgame killing Nat in the exact same way was so awful too. I really liked Nat when I first saw the Avengers when I was like 12 because I was like "heck yeah girlboss," and to kill her in the same exact traumatic way, that for any character is just like, disgustingly brutal (especially with what they show), was like what the fuck is wrong with these writers!!! And like I was mostly expecting a resurrection of Gamora and to see them be like, no, and we're gonna do a repeat with Nat was just sooo disappointing. Especially when they were the ones making up the logic of how this shit all works!

I remember during the height of the pandemic (I think, who knows what time is anymore lol) I went back and rewatched the parts with the Guardians and was like, this stuff is actually pretty good. Like especially the stuff with Gamora and Nebula in Endgame was actually pretty cool too. But it really was unsatisfying considering to have it all end with Gamora being like "who is Peter" and them trying to make it funny. Because the situation was not funny to me!!! I mean maybe with better timing it would have been funny idk. But maybe watching it without her death makes it a little better, ya know?

But god the way everyone was like not even sure if Gamora was still around afterwards because they didn't even show her going off on her own... They absolutely should have done at least that. At the very least, the ending being so dumb with all the Captain America time travel stuff was like, yeah okay I can officially say these movies are a literal joke. And upon rewatch they really made Thanos so overpowered for no reason too!!! Don't even get me started lol.

I definitely feel much better about all of this after Vol. 3 because even though they didn't end up like, restoring her memories/old self or something through the soul world like I wanted, I think it was still handled pretty well. And I can see now that James Gunn probably saw Gamora's arc as over with Vol. 2 because in this movie she went in such a different direction and he said in the first draft of Vol. 2 she was going to sacrifice herself. So at the very least I don't feel as robbed or anything about where her story was going, except wanting more focus on her in Vol. 3 because I love her and of course I wanted them to more fully address her and what happened. And maybe more of her was scrapped for time with everything going on, but at the very least it's easy to imagine what was left out (with her but also how the Guardians were dealing with her being gone). My totally alternate version of what really should have happened in Vol. 3 will always live in my head though, because I spent like, four years thinking about it lol.

I'm still salty that she ever died though of course, don't get me wrong. Especially in the way that she did. Maybe if it was like, oh she sacrificed herself it would have felt better (which is why I would just cut her death scene at the part where she tries to if I were to include it at all in said compilation). Luckily I'm coping with it better now.

I really want to rewatch Vol. 1 & 2 before going to see Vol. 3 again, and that's why I especially want a version of IW/EG with all the other shit cut out lol. It's what we deserve!!!

NO. WAY. Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross are my all time favorite games 😂 I'm starting to think we're the same person!! I almost cried when I found out that they had finally re-released Chrono Cross for the PS4, I'm just about to start getting relics from the dragons.

I was a short hair person all through high school and most of my early 20s but I have been a long hair person for years now. I had it down to my butt at one point but I recently gave myself a long wolfcut just before my partner and I went to see Ateez. I've had it so many colors (I was a punk back in the day, so I've always liked dying it) but it is currently fire engine red and I think I'll keep it that way for a while. I also recently did a blue to purple ombre, half neon green and half black, half pink and half blue (that was for Seventeen!), and all black.

Relationship Status: I am married, to a lovely MTF potato that I adore more than anything in the world (yes, even more than my cats!)

I'm enjoying it a lot, even if I don't have the spoons to read as much as I want to. Shoutout to Contagion by Erin Bowman for being another one that I recently read! I usually don't do sci fi, but this.... holy fuck this one actually scared me a little. It's SO GOOD

so, i searched high and low for a post i swore i made talking about why i wanted to make a naruto oc and had this initial blurb and everything that i just intended to add on, but since it disappeared somehow, i'll start again

it's going to be long, but feel free to tag along the ride under break!!

so, i know anyone who has followed me for a while might have caught up to the fact that i’m on my own naruto nostalgia personal hell right now. it has been dragging for a few months in and out since my lil sibs started to watch the ENTIRETY of naruto franchise just because (we’re talking about all filler eps, all arcs, all ovas, all movies; they’re real champs like that). we all are stuck in the same rooms with each other and nowhere else to go so there was really no way to escape this even if i wanted too, which… i did, in the beginning, not gonna lie (i can’t handle second-hand embarrassment guys, i just can’t, and kid naruto is– oh my god); but then i kind of settled on this constant utterly mortified state so deeply nothing else phased me enough to stop watching the damned thing with my sibs, and here we are.

(and pls, don’t get me wrong. i love naruto, it was important to me as a kid and i still feel echoes of its impact on me even now in my life; it’s just– watching it with my kidsie sibs and parents in the same room with it dubbed in my native lang and them having no context to most things anime, just… no lol)

and god, as much i like the series, rewatching it made my heart ache too. kid naruto had an awful life, dude. for real. it just made me want to swoop in, adopt him and get him somewhere else asap the whole time we watched classic. it was devasting blow after devasting blow since day one, and it took too long for him to find support and bonds (as flimsy as they were) he could cling and lean on (and even then he was left/had to leave behind some).

idk guys, i might be overthinking this but kids in precarious situations always make me emotional af

so i thought: my mojo is making ocs, okay, that’s how i dive into fandoms and such, maybe i could make someone he could call a friend? even if it’s just to comfort him and myself a bit?? yeah, let’s go with this

and like, i wanted him to have someone to goof up with and be silly and talk freely and not have to appear awesome to with that false bravato of his (because he uses that when he’s not comfortable, and i really really really need him to be, for once) but i also wanted him to have someone he could fall back whevener he wants, no questions asked, and that could take care of him if things came down to it, but couldn’t strip naruto’s control over his own situation as an adult would (because that’s terrifiying thing to feel, no control over what’s gonna happen to yourself; now imagine that as a kid that has to live and tend and watch out for their own well-being themselves or else they might as well die in a ditch and no one - in naruto’s mind on the very beggining of classic - would bat an eye?? yeah, no good indeed); so an older kid it had to be. older sibling figure or whatever.

and since i wanted this older kid to approach naruto amicably, they couldn’t be a kid native to konoha, even if they were there from on and beyond. or else they’d first think of naruto in the preconceived notions leaf-civilians kid thought (as a vague monster/demon their parents made of him), or as leaf-nin kid thought (a dumb numbskull, disgrace of the academy).

so before i even started on the kid themselves, i had to settle on a place out of konoha to start the deal (hahaha going through naruto wiki pages on my dying computer was so much fun guys, you have no idea)

i didn’t find a location that made sense in the wiki so i came up with something on my own. it turned out really cool actually. i’m going to link a post talking about this location in particular because this post is too long already, but what you need to know about shokinin daichi is that it was a completely civilian-based settlement. no one was prevenient from a ninja clan and married out of it for peace and quiet, no one had a second cousin that once dreamed about shinobi life as a kid or anything. i know it seems unfathomable in naruto’s universe to such a place exist, especially with how the world is exposed to us on the anime at least, but believe me, it’s more likely than you think. there’s far too much empty space on naruto’s geography and petty, small 1x1 feuds between clans for it not to. shokunin daichi was a place civilians were relatively content with their lives, and if one of them was more ambitious they’d aim for bigger things, yes, but it wouldn't usually scale so far as to become ninja.

my kid, kawarake, was the same. his family made up one the cores of the sanka clan, but since no one was looking forward to taking the clan head’s position from the main family anytime soon, they all lead relatively quiet lives with their own thing going on. the sanka clan run the ranch of shokunin daichi, and each of its cores took care of one kind of animal. kawarake’s family core took care of horses, and he spent most of his days since he was five tending to them or taking care of his littler cousins who wanted to tend them. if he wasn’t on the stables, he’d be strolling in the settlement’s main square to talk to and help all his extended family, or he’d be in his little hide-out by the river farther south from it. he was looking forward to start an apprenticeship under kakka’s clan on metalwork once he was bit older to have the excuse to go out of the settlement more often, but there was no rush on his part still. he was fine like this.

one seemingly random night, with most of the settlement preparing to lay down for the day, a group of nuke-nin found the place. no one knew how, nor who they were; and whoever was left after that disaster could only guess why, but as soon as the rogue shinobi caught sight of the quaint little thing that was kawarake’s home they started to set things on fire. they pillaged and ransacked and destroyed everything in their wake and soon it became clear that there was little to no thing the civilians could do to defend themselves, even with their mattocks and sickles and ropes and wooden planks and the strongest men and women there. smoke and heat enclosed around all of them, and people that had lived their entire lives there together were forced to leave with no plan or direction, just the clan heads’ ultimate order to grab who they could in their way out and survive. hope against hope that they’d find each other again.

kawarake had managed to find his nephew, and be found by his mom before they had to leave the remains of their burning, collapsing ranch behind. with stingy eyes and searing burns and scratches and soot here and there, they made their way out of the settlement to find kawarake’s dad and a distant cousin by chance, but couldn’t manage to reach a group - their people - running in the distance before they too dispersed each to some direction in search of safety. between the kawarake’s mom, dad and cousin, they decided that their best bet would be to seek refuge in konoha for now; and there they fleed to through forest and packed dirt as the night went on.

i don't think it's confirmed in canon but i've seen it around enough in fanfiction to think it might have been implied somewhere. the politics of seeking refuge in a hidden village might change from country to country but i think there's a consistency on the treaty: it has to be compensated for the risk it takes in accepting the refugee, either by trade if the said refugee can has capital to start producing right away or by demanding a shinobi from the refugee's household.

kawarake then becomes the first gen nin of his family, in order for them to stay in konoha and under it's protection. he's the best conventional candidate because of his age; his cousin and parents at too old for the academy, and his nephew too young. he's uneasy in the beginning, he's surrounded by ninja that can, with a few hand seals, create a catastrophe as big as what happened on his settlement just because they felt like it, and that's disconcerting af, but once he realizes that he's also gaining this power, and he's also also learning how to counter it, he manages to ease up a little bit. he even starts to look forward to the possibility of making missions out of konoha in the end; that way he can look around for all his family, and warn them they have a safe place to stay in konoha.

his family arrives two years after the uchiha massacre, and he graduates as a genin on team 3 the same semester as neji, tenten and lee. here's what i have of him and his team, intend to post more soon

Sorry I never replied last night! If you want to pick an emoji that's cool and nice and sweet of you..but I don't have anything specific in mind. Maybe a pink heart..idk. Anyway I might go to Barbie tonight..the theater closest to me is packed and mostly sold out so I'll have to see if my sister will want to drive to another one. It's also cheap day and I know it was a big movie but I don't usually go to movie theaters. We had the same problem when we wanted to see The Little Mermaid last month so we will see. I'm so bad at watching new movies too. I used to keep a list but I don't think I've watched a movie I loved in a while. Sometimes I watch nothing but shows for a while but other times I watch nothing but movies for a while lol and I'm on shows right now.

Thanks for the tips! We will probably eat before the show or after but it's good to know! I will also probably just get clips of some songs too but there's also some where I wouldn't want that song but the sets kinda cool like Willow or Tolerate It or the tongue or costume change during Midnight Rain lol. I also just like being mostly in the moment. That's why I'm kinda sad I couldn't go to both nights but that's okay. I think the performance im most excited for is Enchanted with Long Live..since I never went to Speak Now tour..and I love the dresses. Next would definitely be ATW 10 since it's my favorite song..and getting to scream Cruel Summer! Also anything from Folklore and Midnights that hasn't been seen live yet.

Haha I actually don't enjoy Tis the Damn Season as much as other people so I think I would prefer seeing No Body No Crime..it's probably fun to see live. Also ya that's why I said I wasn't worried about surprise songs cuz any song is a good one..cuz maybe I haven't seen it performed before if it's an older song or even if it was Rep..then it's probably a song I like anyway. For the few songs I wouldn't want, I meant It's Time to Go or Closure lol. I'm also kinda iffy on Happiness and Tell Me Why. Some girl I follow is apparently going to the same show and loves It's Time to Go though lol. I would be happier with Right Where You Left Me or Renegade though. I'm not really picky with which instruments either..it's not something I think about honestly. But I always think about when before she starts playing..if she doesn't do a speech..how exciting it is to finally recognize the song..even if it's one I don't care for.

i really want to see the little mermaid, but never got around to doing it. maybe i'll luck out and it'll be on one of my flights later this year — or i'll just catch it on streaming. what are some of your favorite movies and tv shows? i do "movie nights" with some friends sometimes, and i've been trying to watch more/different things this year! jamie has suggested a few horror movies, which i've really enjoyed too even though i'm very much not a horror girlie. i'm even worse with tv shows, but i'm currently kind of watching the summer i turned pretty season two.
