Since when the ΕΠΑΛ schools in Greece got such a bad reputation? I know that our schools are not the best unless they are private ones but then reading about the teacher quitting because of the bullying he faced from the students and no one even cared saddens me.

Slurs, threats, smoking and playing with phone in classes, the students feeling entitled that they can do whatever they want. It was always like this and i wonder why. Like okay you don't you to study? No problem dont bother though the ones who want to or the teachers that get paid.

What happened to morality, respect and empathy??

I was reading this yesterday night. Actually I read another article, which features a large part of the professor's denunciation of the school and its students, so I recommend you all read this too.

It was frankly terrifying reading this in detail, it felt like an alternate dystopic universe. Who am I kidding though, I have many teachers and professors in my immediate environment and I know first hand about a lot of "horror" stories happening in schools nowadays.

The state has entirely left education to its fate, teachers have lost all hope - I know for a fact that a teacher nowadays can't even discipline a student with a remark because next thing you know an enraged father is knocking the school doors the next day with threats and closed fists.

The ghettoization of schools is a very real thing. Night schools, ΕΠΑΛ schools and certain regions in Athens and the province have taken it to a whole new level though. Teachers have lost the control of the situation, the state gives no shit whatsoever and parents support unlawful behaviour and reward their kids for it. I mean, many things need to change in education but it all starts from the family. No matter how hard we try, it seems the numbers of people who had absolutely no business becoming parents keep rising instead of dropping.
