#okay first little mini writing thing sorta in character?

“I was so struck with emotion when I was finally staring my new feathered travel companion in the face (and after no end of chores) that I could hardly think of a name that felt worthy of belonging to such a lovely creature. In my haste to think of something, anything to put down on that blasted piece of paper they make you sign, I thought back to something I’d heard in the Shaded Bower one day as a youth. I remembered a traveler from a far-off land, one which I’d never heard of, was visiting the markets in search of something particular. They seemed a bit lost, so I did my best to point them in the direction of their quarry and went about my day. Not a quarter of a bell goes by when the same stranger tracked me down elsewhere in the market, giddy with excitement that they’d found what they’d been looking for. They grabbed me by the shoulder and exclaimed, ‘Oh, thank you so much, my friend! Truly Felicitas smiles on us both!’

I distinctly remember feeling confused, as I was pretty sure that wasn’t one of the Twelve, though they were so enthusiastic even I was second-guessing myself. Once the traveler released me from a large hug, I asked them who or what this ‘Felicitas’ was. They did their best to explain to me that it wasn’t exactly a god as we imagine the Twelve, more like the personification of good luck and happiness and forward progress all rolled into one. I never quite got the rest of the story or learned anything more from that stranger before they ran back to catch their airship, but the idea of this ‘Felicitas’ stuck with me. I wouldn’t say I worshiped them the way we do the Twelve, but I’d give my thanks whenever things seemed to be going my way.

And with my new partner before me, all I could think was that this was ‘Felicitas’ smiling down on me again. I silently thanked them for my incalculably good fortune on this day, and in their honor, I gave my chocobo companion their name, that their good fortune and happiness might always be with me.”

some very scattered thoughts on slytherin harry (and also the platinum quartet in general), under a readmore for you and my convenience:

my personal slyth harry is still gonna grow up and take over as DADA professor, because imho taking him out of hogwarts, the first place he ever felt at home, the place he met, like, damn near everyone he cares about, is contradictory and at worst character murder.

pq harry still starts up the DA under pressure not just from ron and hermione but also draco this time (a draco who is already terrified over what side his father is going to come down on, and a draco who is deeply and increasingly aware of how he *will* have to fight) but i figure that the name is actually rather up for debate. only reason DA would win out is gryffindor influence. there's other contenders tho (including salazar's heralds, courtesy of draco, because they MILKED the "harry is the heir of slytherin!!!" thing for all it was fucking worth in second year. half the school is still convinced he *is* the heir of slytherin and just sorta beat a usurper's ass with his big fuckoff snake)

furthermore, DADA prof slyth harry also takes over from snape as head of slytherin house --

-- and on the note of good ol severus, this is a severitus household. even if he doesn't take the leo inter serpentes route and does not straight up adopt harry, seeing mini james potter with jumpscare lily eyes get sorted slytherin alongside an entire weasley and watching them both befriend draco Fucking malfoy (and furthermore watch said malfoy befriend a muggleborn gryffindor girl) is enough of a shock to sev's system he can approach harry a little less on the defensive from the jump. this is deeply hilarious to me, because i think that slyth harry would be much more like james than canon harry - as in, i think slytherin as a house is an environment that fosters a bit of ego, because it doesn't discourage pride in oneself. and by god do i think james had an ego for a bit there

and on the note of severitus! i also think that in this particular au, remus sirius and severus are all sorta parental figures, and remus seeing severus care so deeply for his dead best friend's kid is plenty for him to try and get along w sev. this just leads to remus n severus being, like, pretty cool w each other, and remus having an "okay boys. get along for harry's sake. and also mine please" moment w sev n sirius. (do i think the three of them should also bang? yeah obviously but that's not relevant to harry's story. i digress lmfao)

if i were to write this thing (and i don't know if i will but i would love to see it realized so i might have to at least try) i think that harry would need a bit of a rival slash annoyance in the vein of canon draco, and i think it'd have to be a little gryffindor who fully believed the "slytherin is Thee Evil House" bullshit, who'd end up foreshadowing the horcrux in the very first book by telling harry they thought voldy left a bit of himself behind and that's why harry is in slytherin. idk who that would be but i think id have to workshop it a little.

finally i also think i would have to write it a little grittier than canon. not like, too grimdark, but definitely just realistic - some grit, some goof, some sweetness, and some despair, much like the real world is

Possible sequel to The Heretic

Well, never thought I would be contemplating this.

Actually never thought I would be writing more than a one-shot here and there since I ended it.

But all this news...has me so inspired. At first I was rejoicing but then I started to mourn as Bioware's game took shape in trailers, articles and teasers. I AM fundamentally overjoyed that the game is coming out this fall. But I must admit that the game feels so far nothing like what I thought it would, but that is to be expected.

I got lost in my own Head-Canon for nearly 10 years. That just isn't reality for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, it just never will be. It is a process of accepting and letting go for me. Not that I had hoped DATV would look anything like The Heretic, but more so I couldn't fathom the game itself without it. Perhaps that sounds pretty stupid, but I wrote my fic to fill in the vast void Bioware left over these years and now it is time to yank my head-canon out of that void and replace it with what Bioware has cooked up. Its just, well, a lot at the moment.

However, instead of ripping up my Head-Canon in preparation for the game this fall, I am thinking up an audacious idea. What if I bridged the gap between them? A mini sequel that leads up to The Veilguard?

If you read The Heretic to the very end then you will be wondering "Wait, what? How? I thought----"

MAJOR SPOILER UNDER THE LINE...

Moon'Hwa is dead. But the Inquisitor is coming back in DA4 (Which holy fuck yes!!! This is confirmed!!) So um how is that going to play out???"

Well, you are correct, she is dead, very dead and her spirit is repurposed inside the ever-growing Wolf monster Solas keeps just beyond the Veil. And Solas has promised the Circulum to Mythal...

Here is the thing, Varric and co. didn't promise anything to anyone, perhaps Solas has accepted the fate of Moon'hwa but certain former Inquisition companions have not. See where I am leading with this?

and what if Solas has preserved Moon'Hwa much like he did for her father 26 or so years ago...tucked away in his sanctuary he now has to leave for Arlathan forest...unattended. *screams*

Honestly, one of the main reasons I killed her off was to accept the new protag in the new game. Because like 7 years ago Bioware said that the Inquisitor's journey was over and that they would NOT be coming back. Yep, well that fucking changed. Sorta wish I hadn't killed her now. I am however not bringing her back for convenance. I do think I could write something compelling that bridges The Heretic and DATV together nicely, while building my new character for Rook.

Okay well anyway. I have the very very rough opening to this possible sequel. CW for * dead, decaying birds. *

“I would not sully myself by sharing your air." Candlelight swept viciously over his face as the wind ushered its fury into the hollows of the stone.

"Yet here you are. Desperate like any other man searching for something lost. Your most powerful weapon gone and dead. Oh, what will you ever do?"

"Where is she?"

The former spymaster snaked a gleaming grin, "The mighty Dread wolf chases his tail. The rumors said you couldn't be fooled. Did you spread that yourself so that no one tries?"

Solas's eyes fell, downcast upon the decrepit stone flooring, scanning the plucked feathers and accompanying avian bones strewn about aimlessly.  "Such a waste. What will you do with so much guilt?" "She deserved to die!" Leliana lashed out, the dead raven husk snapping in her fingers. "As do you, but you will suffer first."

hey!! firstly i want to apologise that this is so late! i forgot my password for tumblr so i wasn't getting notifications🙀 secondly, please don't feel pressured to add any of these headcanons, since i replied so late! thirdly, i am a little bit drunk (work christmas parties, am i right?😂) so if this doesn't make any sense i sincerely apologise.

(ps, i sorta used this as an excuse to geek out about my headcanons and write a lil mini fic hehe. if you have any thoughts about this please reply!!) NOW, onto the christmas festivities! i am so excited about this question, adding headcanons to my fav characters is one of my hobbies haaha.

bess would 100% be in charge of decorating. tinsel, lights, a tree, the works. not only does she decorate the claw to an inch of its life, but the drew's placeas well. for the first time since her mother died there's colour and life in the household, and nancy doesn't know how she feels about it. ace is bess' partner in crime, diligetly holding boxes of decorations and telling her to move it slightly to the left, no right, OKAY there thats perfect.

speaking of ace, nancy is a little bit ignorant towards his jewish faith. not in an intentional way, but noticing this sort of stuff is usually nick's job (or bess). nancy is still grieving her mother, sure, but she's distant and somewhat shocked when ace mentions he doesn't celebrate christmas. they have a moment when solving a case together where he stops and explains hanukkah and his faith to nancy. obviously she knew, but she gets a bit singleminded when shes on a case. the convo ends with them having a moment (tm) and maybe a hug <3

nick has an old camcorder that his grandpa had sent him from florida. on it is loads of videos of nick during christmas time, which makes him secretly emotional. he shares this with george, but not the rest of the drew crew. he starts bringing the camera around everywhere with him; catching bess decorating the tree, ace stoned and nancy drunk in the office of the claw. theres a sneaky lil video of george half dressed, but not in a pornagraphic kind of way. nick likes recording the things he loves, and he manages to capture george in a way that is both sexaually empowering for her while still being soft, secretive and beautiful. carson and ryan even make a feature on nick's camera: the two of them arguing about how to assemble a gingerbread house that ends in a food fight.

george hates christmas. hates it with a passion. and yet...this year it doesn't seem too bad. nick is constantly around, supplying her with chocolate and organising lunch with her family and genuinely just being helpful. despite the cold the claw is busy during the christmas season, especially christmas eve when families come for a cheap meal and an even cheaper glasses of wine. ace convinces her to take a trip in florence, and they spend the night drinking lukewarm hot chocolate and staring at the christmas lights of horseshoe bay. the next day, bess is furious she wasn't invited and makes george come over for christmas cocktails and cookie decorating.

(they end up getting smashed due to bess' liberal measuring and spend the rest of the night in nancys closet, trying on sweaters and makeup)

i could go on about the drew crew for ages, but i have a finger cramp so this will have to do lmao! again, i'm sorry for replying late and please reply if you have any headcanons for the drew crew of your own! i am so excited to see what you come up with <3

I love the dwarven ring that looks like a building by a small bridge, what a cool design

I like that Celebrimbor is a mix of meaning well but also proud and almost- hubristic? feels like he's going to be like I Didn't Think Sauron The Deceiver Could Deceive Me when it all goes to shit

not sure I like that Sauron is present for everything now, because his presence has implications in this world. are rop creators implying that the Doors of Durin are also influenced by him, like the Rings he helped make? or are they just ignoring the fact that Sauron's power is present in his creations? or did they not think about it at all? this world has rules, and it weakens the story to just drop some of them whenever it's convenient

(like I know he may not have even touched them, but just the fact that he's here makes you ask questions)

"to credit your contributions" okay nvm you heard it here first - the doors of durin were made by sauron too I guess (i am. pretty sure they want to imply that but it's so ridiculous that it's hard to actually believe)

Celebrimbor and Sauron are the most interesting plotline I swear

Celebrimbor is growing on me, I didn't like him much in season 1 but he gets more depth here, there's more to work with for him in terms of plot

a nice little detail of Celebrimbor patting Sauron on the arm and Sauron standing there for a few seconds like. did that lowly thing just fucking touch me

it tickles me a bit that Sauron mentioned Earendil to, of all people, Feanor's grandson. "that guy whose sons were kinda-sorta orphaned because of your uncles..... he was a truly great man wasn't he?" like what do you say to that ajsjsjdjdjdjd

"perfection of the three, thrice perfected" WHAT DOES THAT SAY ABOUT THE SEVEN THEN. STOP JUST WRITING THINGS BECAUSE YOU THINK THEY SOUND COOL

I really liked Ar-Pharazon's speech, yeah king lead that island to ruin through the power of your hubris. it's in moments like this that you wish the whole show was like this

I'm still not sure why the eagle's coming meant Pharazon should be king, though

Elendil and Miriel have such a nice dynamic. I loved her telling him to be the calm at the eye of the storm

Earien annoys me so much why is she here again. why did they have to invent an entire daughter for Elendil, she should have been a new character

WHY did gil-galad's vision look so out of place compared to literally all other scenes. it was filmed like bits of a documentary

I love Disa's insights into the whole situation

did the balrog finally wake up from its 5-episode-long nap? also that tunnel didn't even seem that long. it's kinda hard to believe the dwarves have that little of the mountain mapped

I think it's a really smart choice to have the dwarves' greed be mostly the rings' fault, takes a bit away from the antisemitic stereotype present in the books. it's presented less like their inherent trait and more like a side effect of the rings - they affect everyone equally after all

Celebrimbor's anvil-shaped paperweight ansnsnsnsajsksmnd

this show has a tendency to assign causation to the wrong things I think - they made Mordor be created instead of just be a land that's slowly filled with evil and killed by the shadow: they make men's rings be inherently different instead of acknowledging that the rings reflect their owners. the nazgul are not wraiths because they wear rings with specific properties - they are just corrupted by the rings' evil, and the wraithness is an effect of the corruption, not a property assigned to men's rings specifically. I don't know if I'm explaining this well but it's kind of a "correlation is not causation" thing

Sauron looking like a mini-eye as he watches from a tower was such a nice touch

the Numenorean seashell candles are cute. I also love the wall ornaments looking like seashells

ohh Valandil being nearly drowned was brutal, it was a good scene. same for that annoying Whatshisname washing the sword in the shrine's water

I really would have liked the forging to be more gradual, though, it's going so fast you don't have time to sit in any sort of dread or worry for what's coming

well we all know how well swearing things goes for people in middle-earth :)

I like that they show Sauron quickly reacting to obstacles and constantly twisting the truth - not all of his moves make sense to me lore-wise, but it's accurate characterisation for him

at this point you gotta admire the creators' dedication to absolutely bizarre choices when it comes to sauron. 15 minutes in I'm already going what the hell and fuck. like what was that supposed to be. genuinely

Charlie Vickers has grown on me; he still doesn't have much to work with in terms of the script or the plot though

this whole introductory sequence was there....... I'm not sure why? we could already extrapolate all that, and I mean All That, from the previous season

it still pisses me off that Galadriel is The Main Idiot and Everything Is Her Fault

also, I am reminded by all the plot and worldbuilding choices that annoyed me before. why is mithril important for the elves' survival again?

believe me, I AM trying to find things to like about this show, but the plot choices feel like so much unnecessary drama. Galadriel and Elrond fighting feels.... tiring. I feel like all Galadriel does is fight with people

oh are we getting Rhun?? 👀 Nice

this is a personal opinion but the elven women have wayyy too strong and modern-looking make-up

it's a shame galadriel gets the ring because she's power-hungry and reckless, not because she's one of the mightiest elves in middle-earth. she SHOULD be power-hungry, don't get me wrong, it's one of her best traits, but this way you don't put any sort of accent of how very important and mighty she is

sauron having a Badass Walk into mordor at the end of s1, which was a really cool shot to end a season on, only to then get himself in chains and then turn away and come back to Celebrimbor has got to be the most '???' moments of this show. they really have no idea what to do with him

overall I'd say my main gripe, apart from the plot solutions, is that this show doesn't have much to say. it's showy, it's lore-heavy (even if I don't like the lore they came up with), but so far it still has little heart and thought behind it. to me at least it doesn't feel like it really wants to tell you something

Style Headcanons

So basically, I’m a big hater to the way the costume team worked on them. The whole “All Isle kids wear Leather” and “Auradon Kids always look like they’re on their first kid and on the way to the country club” thing drives me crazy. It sorta feels like they made costumes before giving them personalities (The leather on Carlos  and Evie feels like it clashes with their personalities. Lonnie’s dresses in the first movie doesn’t fit the personality we see, even though she didn’t have much of a personality until movie two. Audrey dressed like a thirty-four year old mother who just picked up her kid before going to the country club. Ben’s only good outfit was his swim trunks.) So here are some personal headcanons and pictures of what I imagine for them. (I started making them at 1am last night lol)

Villain Kids 

Evie

As someone raised to want to be a princess, she wants to dress like how she imagines a princess would.

She loves pastels and is no stranger to pairing pastel blue with a neutral red or bright white. 

The only pants she really wears are either athletic shorts or those little flowy elastic shorts, otherwise she’s all skirts.

She’s sorta a prep but not in the same way a character like Audrey would be. 

Evie has respect for most aesthetics, even though she doesn’t fully fit just one. However, she hates crocs and those little pastel shorts that white boys wear, she will announce it often.

Wouldn’t be caught dead in neon colors. 

owns a blue fur coat (it’s fake fur, obviously)

Carlos

Baby boy is a total softie

You know that one gay little sweater in movie one, that’s where they went right, more of that.

He’s into the soft boy aesthetic and only strays from it for formal wear

loves layering sweaters over button ups

Cuffed jeans, always because ya know, bisexual 

Owns a floral button up from Jay, normally he hates patterned button ups but it’s his favorite shirt. 

Loves striped sweaters, he owns about 6 variations of them in different colors (all include red, white, or black of course)

Jay 

In theory, Jay doesn’t really have one aesthetic, he’s willing to try on just about anything

Most of his clothing was bought by Evie or Carlos, especially his formal wear

The only clothes that Jay will buy for himself is athletic wear

He doesn’t really see the point of buy clothing that he can’t go straight to practice in. 

Still has the beanie,  but he owns one in just about every color to match it to his outfit.

Listen, we know Jay’s main color is yellow/gold, but why did we always see him with more red/blue in the movie? What type of snow white aesthetic were they trying to give him?

Jay owns a button up that he write on, he refuses to wear it actually buttoned though

Mal

She loves the grunge/alternative aesthetic, she thinks it makes her look more like she belongs to the Isle

She wouldn’t wear skirts until after she and Evie became friends, Evie bought her her first skirt (a purple plaid one) and she fell in love with it

Mal has a whole jewelry box of just chains, both necklaces and ones that attach to clothing 

Owns a pair of Demonia Swing-815 boots (black patent) and a pair of Demonia Camel-203 boots (holographic purple) 

100% owns one of those studded hot topic belts. 

Has a headband with little horns that symbolize her mother’s horns 

Instead of the leather half gloves from the movie, she has those little fishnet gloves and covers her hands in rings.

Uma

Her style is similar to Mal’s because if Mal is going to do something, Uma will do it better.

Uma only wore outfits that were super Fem and had skirts until Mal started doing it

Then it was Uma always wearing pants, because of her love for plaid skirts she owns a whole collection of plaid pants

the only jeans she owns are black or dark wash. 

Her first ever large purchase was a pair of Doc Marten 1460 Zip Tartan Lace up boots (they’re green, black, and blue plaid) 

She and Harry bought matching Doc Marten Jadon platforms (his are more shiny though)

Isn’t as into chains as Mal, more into chockers. 

Harry 

When the E-boy aesthetic came out, Harry was all over it 

Harry definitely has one of those chains with a little lock on it. 

I’d like to imagine he has baby gauges

the before mentioned platform doc martens, he definitely treats them like his baby

Even though Harry dresses like an e-boy,  he always has his pirate hat on

Definitely wears cloth masks as a fashion piece he actually would wear his in the pandemic though, unlike some people who wore them before but not for safety 

Harry is actually really good at graphic liner, he owns a gold, red, and white eyeliner to add color to the outfit if it’s mainly black

gold>silver 

Bought plaid pants because Uma did, he want’s to match with his captain

Gil 

As we know (maybe you don’t) it’s in the canon that Gil’s mother taught him to sew and he enjoys it. 

So Gil doesn't dress in one aesthetic or even close to being in one, he wants to try out everything, both making and wearing them.

He does stick to a monochrome color scheme though, mainly shades of brown with white or black thrown in. Sometimes he adds a little red or yellow though to “honor” Gaston

Most of his clothing is more comfortable than anything

Only owns three pairs of jeans, the rest are different types of pants (he loves corduroys) 

Owns a pants chain that harry bought him but he only really wears it when Harry and Uma are wearing one so he won’t feel left out on it. 

Dizzy 

Baby girl has seen the Isle steal the childhood innocence from people, she dresses in kidcore as a way to keep hers

Her outfits always has at least 4 different colors in it.

No stranger to neon colors, she has a pair of overalls that are neon rainbow and covered in gummy candy and she only wears them with a neon green tee, Evie and Carlos hate this outfits, Jay loves it because of the disappointment it brings to the two fashion fans 

Dizzy’s outfits in the movie were colorful obviously but they should have been just more over the top

She loves patterns and has no fear of pattern mixing

definitely owns some funky earrings, clay rings, and  statement necklaces

puts beads on her shoe laces, especially on her converse (they were white ones, she drew all over them) 

Auradon Kids 

Ben

Okay so Ben’s animated and movie outfits were bad, you can’t convince me of anything else

Why was Ben not dressed in the soft boy aesthetic? You’re trying to tell me that Belle’s son wouldn’t be a soft boy?

He has a jean jacket with his father’s beast symbol painted on the back

Absolutely loves graphic crewnecks, often layers them over collared shirts

He and Carlos go shopping together often in their free time

Lover of funky crew socks,  ones with paintings, patterns, logos, whatever. But his socks always match

After he and Mal started Dating, he bought a white jean jacket and let her paint it, he wears it all the time even though it didn’t match his original clothing, he bought more clothes in her color scheme to match it

He owns like 6 pairs of high top converse (light blue, yellow, white, navy, black, and Purple after getting the jacket back from Mal)

Chad

Listen, out of everyone he was the closest to how I imagined he should be, that being said, he had a little soft boy thing going on in some movies that I don’t think fit his personality

Polos and button ups are basically all he owns, but he does have some of those pastel simply southern esc graphic tees (Southern people probably know what I’m on about, all the guys who act like Chad at my school have like 5 of them each)

Owns 6 pairs of those horrid little southern boy pastel shorts in different shades of blue (plus 1 white pair)

Will not wear jeans, ever, the only pants he owns are khakis

All over the shirts that have logos embroidered into the shirt over the chest. 

Definitely gets asked if he’s on the way to golf/ the country club, the joke is that he is, he has to meet his father there after school

Listen, I’m not an Audrey stan, but they did her so dirty in the first movie

She should have been the stereotypical mean girl outfit wise, I mean, mini skirts, all pastels

Owns a pink teddy coat, and a white one, she actually cares about if they get dirty though, takes good care of them

definitely has a collection of tennis skirts, pairs them with sweaters/crewnecks or blouses that have a slight puff to the sleeve

The type of girl to wear rufflely rompers on her birthday every year, pink, white, or baby blue obviously

loves those tiny shoulder bags

preppy and looks good in it.

Jane

This account is a Jane should have been cottage core/ fairy core fan page, her outfits were almost there, just not there, she’s literally a fairy but can’t use magic nor did they let her dress like one, I hate it here

Baby girl loves gingham and floral patterns, some of her dresses are a little more to her mother’s taste than hers (her mother bought them) but as long as it’s a pattern she likes she will wear it. 

Cardigans are her best friend, she owns one in multiple shades of pink and blue, plus a white one (all of her clothing fits a pastel pink/blue/white color scheme)

Babydoll dresses her a her favorite style of them (the one I put in the top right corner is what I imagine her birthday dress as) 

People try to mockingly ask if she’s on her way to a tea party/picnic (like they do with Chad and the country club) if the answer isn’t actually yes one of her friends still say yes, no one can be rude to her about it 

She owns a corset (Evie bought it for her, it made her nervous at first but she loves it) 

Owns kitten heels and flats mainly also two pairs of mary janes (in white and blue) 

has one of those little pearl purses that aren’t really useful but they’re cute 

Lonnie

An ask for #trilogyappreciationweek! (If you're up for it, no pressure!) Of the Mass Effect fics that you've written, what are some of your favorites? What about them are you proud of? Are there any "behind the scenes" things you'd like to share about them?

Oh god thank you so much! Okay, so I flipped through a bunch of my old stuff to see if I still liked the stuff I remembered liking. I’m just gonna be indulgent and talk about them a little. ++ The Difference between the Sea and the Sky Loooooooooong Okay so this is the biggie, this is the 300k one. I’m still really proud of this and know lots of things I’d tweak around at this point in time, but I still feel pretty good about a lot of my writing in that one. I wrote the first... 40 chapters before I knew there was a Mass Effect fandom to show it to. The story was written so that each of the earlier chapters covers the between-mission development of Shepard and Kaidan’s relationship, and the tools are there to essentially play Mass Effect 3 after Kaidan/Shepard’s Apollo’s conversation along with this story. *shrug* I poured a lot of myself into this fic, and every year that passes, I realize I put more of myself in it than I even knew at the time. Heh. N7 Month 2015, Day 5: Alternate Universe Where Kaidan Makes it to the Citadel with Shepard Angst I originally saw a post about the idea of Kaidan and Shepard both reaching the transport beam to the Citadel at the end of ME3, and I immediately had this very angsty idea. I don’t have much to say about it, I guess. Sleeper Pods Fluff, short Wrote these as a series, but the link here is all of them compiled in order. I really like telling stories in tiny chunks: usually, I have like one or two crystal clear ideas and writing all the other stuff around those is tough. So in this case, I just wrote out all the bright bits in my head and wrote... nothing else. Heh. I’ve also got a thing for stories/series you can join into or leave at almost any point, and I sorta tried that here. N7 Month 2016, Day 1: Destroy Ending from Catalyst POV Angst? I’ve written different permutations of the ending of Mass Effect many many times (I already put one on this list :/). This one was part of a broader series where each of the endings was viewed from a Reaper perspective and their conclusions about big, sapient emotions like ‘Fear’ and ‘Love’. It’s convoluted, I know, but I’m always bad at elevator-pitching my conceptual stuff. I was writing during a period of great tragedy in my life, so to write about a tragedy from the perspective of a being who cannot feel pain like I do, and who has the power to DO something about the tragedy--that was kind of nice. Vigil Every N7 month, for ‘Day 7′ (the free-space day) I write about Vigil, the Prothean hologram from ME1. The stories are connected, each year, but each one takes place progressively further in the future, so I’m not exactly sure ho wI could continue it anymore. It still makes me very emotional to read these, the Mass Effect games really mean a lot to me, and this is sorta my yearly distillation of that. His Voice 60k words

Yeah, so I like Vigil a lot. This was written for a Big Bang, and is the story of the Protheans on Illos who programmed Vigil and built the mini-Mass Relay. It’s intercut with a kind of ruminating character piece about Shepard recovering from the Trauma of the war. Funnily enough, the Prothean part of the story is based off a shorter treatment I wrote as a choose-your-own-adventure type thing, as an application to write for Bioware. There’s a significant Leviathan encounter in my real long fic, The Difference between the Sea and the Sky, was the same thing, originally. It’s the closest thing to a stand-alone, long-form work with original characters that I’ve written for Mass Effect. While originally writing, I used the names of the Apostles to denote each of the Protheans so I could keep them straight. Then, before publishing, I did a find/replace using Prothean names some of my friends and followers on here had recommended. N7 Month, 2015 - Day 6: Shepard’s First Name Fluff My Shepard, Ben Shepard, is my template for Shepard in... maybe three shorts I’ve written where he’s only ever called ‘Shepard’, but other than The Difference between the Sea and the Sky, this is the only other story I’ve written where its blatantly Ben. Furthermore, DbtSS is entirely written in the most stand-offish third person, whereas this short is written in first person in Ben’s voice, so it was a weird experience after writing 300k words about him through binoculars.

okay i have Feelings about NEO: TWEWY and nobody to shout them at because literally nobody else I know plays it which is truly a crime; the original twewy remains one of my favourite games to this day.  but anyway.  massive NEO TWEWY spoilers inbound:

First of all it truly is a miracle that this game even exists.  I never once actually believed we’d get a sequel.  Let alone one this good!! It is really, really good!!!

Things I Enjoyed:

- The gameplay.  Whoo boy.  Up to about 4 team members, anyway.  It’s fast paced, button mashing satisfaction, that manages to keep elements from the original game while still being fresh and fun, if not entirely chaotic, which is why after 4 characters, it was a bit like, ‘okay, chill, let us switch out or something’ lmao

- The new characters.  Although I feel like we leave the game not knowing as much about them as I would like, the new team are really great, and Nagi in particular really shone in terms of character grown.  Rindo.. I feel like I know as little about him now as I did at the start :|a Maybe I just missed something.

I honestly found the teams and their leaders kinda forgettable >>;; Although the heel-face turn on Motoi was pretty great.  I needed more from Kanon to feel anything when she, yknow.

The new reapers were... a mixed bunch. Shoka was fantastic, Susukichi was... a bit much in English, great in Japanese, Tsugumi was great but didn’t get enough screen time (unless she gets more post game, I dunno yet) Shiba annoyed the fuck outta me, Kaie was alright.. the others... meh.  They don’t hold up to Kariya and Uzuki. And obviously Kubo sucks ass pfft

- The reappearing characters.  of course i loved them.  i got a hit of serotonin every time one appeared on my screen. neku my son. josh  the reapers.  i was never a huge minamimoto stan lmao but he was fun. even curry don. but some were DIRELY underutilised which i WILL COME BACK TO

- THE MUSIC.  twewy cannot fail on its music, it’s amazing, it’s glorious, it’s multi faceted, it goes hard. and adding in Beat’s psyche, a rhythm mini game acting as the fast walk button???? yes. yes yes yes yes.  yessssssss. 

- The graphics.  Mostly.  Everything looked beautiful, and HD, and the character designs were great - not toooooooooo Nomura but Nomura enough, yknow? And the occasional chibi faces were great lol.  The chaotic battles sometimes caused lag which... I mean, they coulda given us the option to turn off some of the animations or damage graphics lmao but hey.  the forced perspective on shibuya was a bit off occasionally but it was how the original game did it and it’s all for the ~aesthetic~ so hey.  And it was great seeing some of the original locations looking so much more fleshed out

- The Localisation.  Personally, I think the translators struck a perfect balance that made the kids seem like they’d fit right into today’s culture.  It wasn’t forced, it wasn’t ‘look at us we are Teenagers’, it was right on the mark.  And it was really, really interesting hearing just how different the Japanese VA lines were compared to the English translations.  They really went all out and it paid off, imo.

Dislikes: (i haven’t read the secret reports yet tho)

- UNDERUTILISATION OF THE ORIGINAL CHARACTERS - now, look, okay, I’m biased.  I admit it.  I’m a Josh and Neku stan lmao, so I was looking forward to seeing them the whole game.  And as it went on and on and I realised I wouldn’t be until much later, it bummed me out.  The bait n’ switch with Beat was funny at first, and I enjoyed it a lot, until I realised that yeah, that’s what they’re going with.  Beat’s probably my least favourite partner from the original (sorry) but even disregarding that, it annoys me that they gave him like 10,000x more screen time than even Neku. 

Not to mention Shiki and Joshua!  Josh in particular I could write a whole essay on how pissed I am.  The lost potential.  Nobody mentioning him, ever, once.  Until he just sorta shows up and says a few things.  It makes NO SENSE, he’s the fucking composer, Neku and Beat worked with him, why aren’t they questioning his whereabouts when Shibuya’s turning to shit??????’  I just?????? I had low hopes for Josh content tbf but I am still disappointed :( And naught but one singular Hanekoma mention, as well.  Sigh.

Shiki, it’s a shame she doesn’t appear more, she certainly could have - I can think of like 5 ways off the top of my head - having her as a partner would have also been extremely good.

Neku at least we got..... half a week with. and as a PC.  And like, I know it’s not supposed to be about them, but throw us a bit more than cheap fanservice, yknow. And Kariya and Uzuki were great too.

- why, oh why, was every single team lackey male????  they couldn’t be arsed to make female designs????? it baffled me.

- SO. MUCH. SHIBUYA. TRAVERSING.  I don’t remember if it was that bad in the original?! But oh my god lol.  I think a lot of it was padding.  Sure felt like it.  Paired with the slightly hand hold-y mission progression cutscenes, they coulda cut a bunch of those out.

Other Stuff:

- The voice acting - fantastic in Japanese, okay in English, except for the returning characters?? didn’t sound great??? in english??? I was hyped to turn English back on for Beat but.... nah. Nahhh.  Nagi’s English VA was absolutely the best imo.

- They nailed the feel of the old game without totally copying it - the food, clothes, general aesthetic, music.  That said, it still felt a little too tied to the original.  Ironic considering the rant above I know lmao but... yeah.  The player psyches were a nice touch but I feel like it needed something to set it apart a lil more from its predecessor. 

- I didn’t realise A New Day existed until literally today and I wish I had seen it before I played Neo.  Now I know who Coco is lmao.  And Shinjuku’s erasure was part of that too! arghhhh. Nomura stop burying plot points in other things.  I’m a DS OG dont do this to me

- Rindo’s time travel power was cool but jumping back to the same point like 3 or 4 times in some cases got old

- You could really feel the KH3 energy of ‘play 30 hours until something or someone pivotal finally appears’ lol.  Nomuraaaaa.

Anonymous said: happy edser just HITS different. maybe it's because we've been so deprived of them together and blissful, it's such a joy to watch. i had a silly grin on my face during all their scenes. sure the tumor cloud is looming over our heads, but this episode only laid the foundation for that and then went into romcom mode, which i really appreciated because we've been bogged down for SO LONG with heaviness, it was nice to just take a breather.

OMG! Yes, all of this. And I’m not sure if it’s happy Edser that hits different, or if it was whatever magic and sparkle these writers injected into this episode that made it hit different.  

The magic was BACK. The sparkle was BACK. These writers took the most ridiculous scenario idea (these two famous architects deciding to solve a murder) and just made it sing. I grinned through the whole thing and laughed out loud, A LOT. 

This was the first episode in ages where I wasn’t watching the clock and waiting for some uncomfortable or unpleasant moment or scene to occur. Instead watching was pure joy and no anxiety, even with a tumor diagnosis. 

There was so much good Edser in this episode it’s hard to know what to talk about. I loved every moment they were on screen together.

Ha! Yes, I have said that all along, and I’ve never been more relieved to be right. They really went the extra mile with having Selin spell out that it hadn’t happened.  With the English subs it almost sounded like they had never, ever had sex, even before.  If so, I could actually believe it, their prior relationship seemed to be very business like, like they were each other’s safe, convenient date to business and family functions, and it wasn’t emotional or physical for him. 

After the gross story around Selin, and how much damage she did and how much she got away with, this was not nearly enough comeuppance to sate my thirst for her pain. These writers started this story and introduced Selin’s role in it, so it’s not like they 100% inherited something they had nothing to do with. However, between Bige’s limited availability due to her father passing, Sarp Can having covid, and the way the other writers drug it into the ground, I’m also just happy it’s over and will deal with this being all we get, plus, while she didn’t get punished adequately, she did take her lumps. It’s humiliating that Serkan went around acting incredulous to everyone who would listen that she could be pregnant because he never touched her, even while she was his fiancé. I mean that’s a shrinker. Can you imagine agreeing to marry a man who you knew didn’t want to touch you? Everyone now knows her sad, pathetic desperation to have him under any circumstances. Yikes. 

And as you say, she then had to stand in front of Eda and Serkan and admit he didn’t touch her. Admit that Serkan never wanted her, and it’s humiliating that everyone at Art Life knows what she did and thinks she’s a monster. Serkan finally knows she’s an awful manipulator who tried to trick him, and in the end she gets an unplanned pregnancy with a man who doesn’t love her and whom she doesn’t love.  So it’s not like she’s winning by any stretch of the imagination. 

(Though I really wish everyone knew (mostly Serkan and Eda) that she sabotaged Eda’s presentation. It’s important for the characters to know that she can’t be trusted professionally as well as personally... but oh well.)

Oh I agree, I found it very romantic they went and got the tattoos and the only impetus was their desire to have a symbol of their love. I already love those tattoos so much, and I love that they sat their designing them together. They really do signify the ultimate commitment. 

I’m not sure if they’re engaged or not. Maybe they’re in a place where it’s obvious they’re going to get married, they both know they’re going to get married, but we’re still going to get one more proposal to make it official?  

As for the ring for love bell, when and where did he get that!? Hee. And yes to more breaking of the Turkish family structure. That lift and twirl through the living room was... HOT. And it was just so effortless, there are just no words at times for how good Hande and Kerem are, I’ve really never seen anything like it. They don’t really have time to rehearse on set, or limitless takes or the time to really block and perfect things, but they’re just so good together they make magic happen every time they’re on screen.  Amazing. Enjoy this kids, because you probably won’t see anything like it again.

So if the new angst is Serkan's potential illness, I'm down for the potential angst it'll create.. it's already a good sign that, although he hasn't told her about it yet, he's not pushing her away in fear, but instead the opposite. I also don't think, and really hope not, him keeping it secret rn won't cause trouble.

Yes, I like that even with that heavy health news hanging over the episode, it was still light and funny and romantic and had that old sparkle. That tells me that they’re going to strike the right tone with this story which seems to be a very carpe diem thing with Serkan. 

It didn’t bother me that he didn’t tell her. First, he told the doctor that he didn’t want anyone to know until he had a diagnosis. That makes sense, why worry her, or any of them, before they know.  I’m sure I would feel different if he was pushing her away because of the diagnosis, but since he’s holding her close and just seems to want to spend time with her, without that heaviness hanging over her head, I’m okay with it. 

Also, as seen in the new fragman, if this story is an excuse to get them out of the office and put them in all sorts of scenarios together it would otherwise be hard to justify, bring it on.  Let’s see how far down the list of things to do they can get!

They’re actually enjoyable scenes now! I love that they’ve become actual true friends, best friends really, and along with Seyfi I love their little trio.  Love that Seyfi and Ayfer were being so supportive about Aydan rekindling something with Kemal.  And I agree that we can root for them when they’re working for Edser’s well-being and happiness.  I just hope Aydan doesn’t do something stupid if there begins to be some question about Serkan’s parentage.

You could see Erdem using the flash coming from a mile away, but that still didn’t blunt the comedy when he actually did it.  So funny. Also Engin not recognizing Eda, imagine him thinking Serkan is there with some rando woman.  I also love the full cast comedy scenes, they are so much fun and really should be utilized as often as possible. 

The scene where Edser walk back into the house and Aydan and Kemal were there paying their respects had me screech-laughing! So so so funny. Both sides being incredulous that the other was there and wanting answers!  I also enjoyed that Serkan obviously put Erdem in charge of Kemal’s project, because he wants that project to go away. Unfortunately for Serkan, I think it’s going to take more than Erdem to drive Kemal away.

Wow, this is a lot of negative energy and fretting after a really good episode. Deep breath. Since you sent this, we know that Hande and Kerem have been shooting for 2 full days at a romantic looking beach location for 39, so it looks like Edser has some sort of mini-getaway. I don’t see any reason to be concerned about the 4 day break last week. (now the fragman’s out, hopefully that puts your mind at ease)

No idea why Melissa wasn’t in the ep, other than the way the ep was structured with the supporting characters, if she had to miss the ArtLife shooting day then I can see that they would have had to write her out of the full episode, because most of their scenes were there and it set up everything for the rest of the episode. So perhaps she was in quarantine for a Covid exposure, maybe she was legit sick/injured (she has had a foot thing) or maybe she had a conflict for that one shooting day. No idea, but I don’t think it’s anything to worry about.  Also her absence gave us Ferit/Melo scenes and I’m 100% behind that, give us more of those! 

As far as if Serkan planned the whole thing, he did look pretty smug and relaxed while sitting there at the end, but he also wasn’t planning for the whole group to tag along and make a mess, lmao. We’ll have to see.

Friends, I don’t know anything about the Turkish system, but it seems to me that SCK will either go through May or extend into summer and end then, regardless of the ratings. We shall see. As I’ve said before I’m not going to engage in the fretting and worrying and discussion on this topic because no fan really knows what they’re talking about and there is nothing we can do to change what will happen. So just enjoy the show while we can, the news on when it will end will come when it comes.

Thoughts on some Jack X Joey??

Boy howdy do I have a lot of thoughts!! (I actually love this ship, whoops.)

Disclaimer: a lot of my thoughts are from before the Illusion of Living, but now that I know the IOL stuff, I can’t not factor that in to my thoughts. So, various slight spoilers for the Illusion of Living under the cut!

Secondary Disclaimer: My information about the books is via other people, so I may have slight information wrong. This is a lot of headcanons anyway so please excuse any inaccuracies!

(It’s also honestly a lot of rambling character analysis rather than ship thoughts, so I guess if you want to hear my TED Talk on Jack Fain’s personality that’s in here too.)

SO! Obviously this one isn’t exactly like... an Obvious Pairing. But it’s one I think could, theoretically, be pretty nice.

First off: So like, I’m honestly just, gobsmacked, the amount of fuel for my sorta niche ship that showed up in the Illusion of Living? Joey Drew and Jack Fain have coffee and chat, that’s cUTE??? (Also apparently the audiobook puts weird emphasis on Joey enjoying their... meetings, which IDK, it’s probably intended as a like “haha yeah it’s a work meeting even tho we’re actually just having coffee for most of it” but tOO BAD I MADE IT QUEER NOW.

Anyway, on to actual thoughts, which I have split into mini chapters because I am physically incapable of being succinct:

Part One: The Accidental TED Talk About Jack Fain (Or At Least How I View Him)

A lot of my thoughts on this ship are affected by how I view Jack as a character, I think? I see him as someone who’s soft, and nice, yeah, and overall very chill, but I don’t really see him as a pushover, really? I feel like, Jack’s a character who can tell what people want, and then sorta... gently steer them in a direction, rather than just going with what they want.

So like, with Sammy - Sammy is real direct and blunt and rude, and somehow Jack manages to work with him well. This is actually sorta how I view that one IOL scene where Jack interrupts Joey and Sammy’s Gay Reminiscing:tm: - he sees Sammy getting off track and distracted, and decides to step in to keep things back on topic.

I feel like this probably is also how they’re able to work together so well, because Jack can tell when he needs to step in to keep Sammy on track, while also understanding how Sammy wants him to act and doing what Sammy wants him to do. (And as a side note, I honestly feel like Sammy probably knows this and appreciates it? Helps keep things running smoothly. Probably why he isn’t as much of an ass to Jack as he can be to other people.)

Basically, I see him as having a pretty good skill at like, working out people’s systems, working out how to please them, while also coming to compromises that help him also get his point across.

I also feel like, I’m not sure how much of Jack’s Big Attention Seeking Energy is him, so much as him filling a role to do what needs to be done? I don’t think he necessarily hates it, but like... Working with Sammy, someone has to be doing that role. He knows how to work with people, work an audience, get the attention the duo needs to be successful the way Sammy can’t. (Sammy outright doesn’t want attention, but alas, that doesn’t really pay the bills.)

But then, when you hear about Jack at JDS, he tends to get away from everything and be more chill - and I read that as more like, now that he doesn’t need to draw attention for his job, he’s able to settle down a little in that regard. Writing is a lot different from pleasing a crowd, so he doesn’t need to maintain that persona, and can slip into more comfortable habits, get some more peace as he works on writing.

(Also, wrt the one audiolog he has about not being too bothered about that one award being in Joey’s name - I feel like, if he doesn’t actually want the attention so much, I could see him... like, legitimately just not minding it that much, actually, rather than being passive aggressive about it or anything.)

Anyway!!! Those are my thoughts on Jack, so now we can move onto...

Section B: Jack/Joey? On This Blog??? It’s More Likely Than You Think 

So then, with regards to like... shipping with Joey. Note that we’re now sliding into even more headcanon-y territory.

I feel like at the very beginning, Joey probably misreads Jack a lot. He’s still kinda expecting that showy, charismatic, crowd-pleasing persona, the like... what he reads as wanting attention. (Which, true, Jack was seeking that out - because the job required it, not because he, specifically, wanted it.)

So, what he gets is a bit more of a surprise - a bit more chill, calmer. But, he still has that ability to work with people, even though he’s not using it on a crowd.

From the sounds of things in IOL, it seems like, the meeting stuff between Joey and the Music Dept. Boys goes pretty smoothly... but like, I get the impression that later on in the studio’s timeline, things go slightly less well between Sammy and Joey. (Stares at the conspicuous lack of Jack Fain in DCTL. Hm.)

But yeah, I like to imagine, Jack in meetings with Joey and Sammy, helping like... smooth things over more when changes need to be made or the music isn’t working out quite how Joey wants it to. Jack knows enough about Sammy to know how to appeal to his side of things, while also compromising enough with Joey’s side of things, incorporating the changes Joey wants but suggesting ways it could work better, helping tone down Joey’s helpful suggestions that wouldn’t work as well as he thinks they would.

I’m a big fan of the concept of like... Joey originally has a big crush on Sammy, he’s so mysterious, what’s going on in his head, etc. - but then, a lot more slowly, he gets to know Jack better, spends more time with him, slowly works out how Jack actually works. Learns to appreciate that more subdued charisma he has, the way he can tell how people work and work with it.

And then, it’s just nice to imagine a nicer more chill Joey ship. Have some nice meetings, get coffee together, casually make out in Joey’s office. That’s some good content.

(It also works nicely because I feel like... IDK, I don’t think Jack would just put up with Joey’s Being Joey, I don’t think he’s that much of a pushover. Also like, this is also good opportunity for a Joey/Sammy/Jack OT3, give Joey the best of both worlds. Jack cares a lot about Sammy, Joey is infatuated with Sammy and slowly grows to understand Jack, Jack helps Sammy and Joey clash slightly less and work together better, etc. It’s a different ship, but also good.

Jack Fain, who (through whatever nonsense) ended up with his office nice and tucked away in the sewers where he has some peace and quiet. Due to Some Reason, be it poor memory on Joey’s part or unclear instruction when he demanded that the Ink Demon be locked up...

The Ink Demon gets locked away in the Infirmary... but, unbeknownst to Joey, Jack is still in there. Things don’t go well. Joey realises, and...

Well.

Add in some previous Jack/Joey shipping, and Joey suddenly realising what he’s caused, unintentionally or no. Lead that into either Joey losing it and turning to his weird ink nonsense, or Joey going further than he meant in attempt to somehow reverse what he did.

Throw in some additional: Jack is no longer there to help balance out Joey’s Joeyness. He’s also no longer there to help out with Sammy and Joey interactions - a Sammy who can tell something’s happened with Jack, but Joey sure isn’t going to just tell him what happened, and that certainly isn’t helping things here.

you've talked before about how s4 feels rushed, with Prue's death and grieving, Paige's intro, and then the Cole!Source plot. so, if you were writing the show, how would you handle Prue dying, Paige coming in, all of it?

i feel like. okay so like. this is ur soft reboot y’know this is ur upheaval of the norm you are basically making ur own mini new show within the world, but this is a major deviance from anything you’ve done previously. so like. it’s time to vibe check exactly what you wanna do. and irl they opted to go more more overarching plots, snappier moments, and drifting further a major lightening of tone and steering away of myths that exists in the shadows to like. a mermaid episode. which like sure. on paper, night not have been like bad. but. meh. i get that we keep making the source a bigger and bigger thing so he’s gonna hafta be like a major plot point sooner or later, but i feel like the majority of fans really sorta like the demon of the week format and how it’s the sisters themselves fighting them it’s not The Charmed Ones Vs. The World it’s The Halliwell Sisters Are Trying Their Best To Save The Day and i like the grounded element that adds. (speaking of grounded elements i also definitely wouldn’t do the change in mythology i think s5 was the most blasphemous i really really didn’t like what they did there.) so like. introducing a new sister. i think a crucial part of this would be reconstituting the power of three. i think it definitely should have been on the fritz for the first part of s4 as piper and phoebe struggle to let go of prue and accept paige into their lives, and like on the flip side paige struggles to come to terms with the basic idea of having a family and having people who stay by your side i think we should sprinkle in a lot more backstory for paige and i think that’s where her and phoebe should bond the most where instead of phoebe being like new sister!! we’re going to be bffls!! they’re more just like tentative where phoebe still plays the same role she did in s1 trying to get paige like into the craft trying to get her to accept it and see it’s beauty but instead of like a prue reaction like what magic isn’t real this is too dangerous what did you drag me into blah blah blah like paige’s issue isn’t with magic being real it’s with like. being charmed. being this paragon of good magic. especially with being half angel. like i would love to see paige struggle with that being like no you don’t understand like i’m not a good person i was like an evil horrible teenager and i’ve done awful stuff and i’m selfish and i always show up to work late and blah blah blah and really just painting this awful picture of herself and her and phoebe would bond bc a) phoebe was also a little devil child so they have that in common b) phoebe literally just met paige and so she’s really offering like a fresh perspective that paige doesn’t really get to see like paige is looking at herself through this distorted mirror and phoebe like woah woah woah woah woah like i don’t think you realize this but u are actually an insanely good person? like look at all you were able to do without magic? there’s a reason this happened to you okay there’s a reason the universe chose you and it’s not something to be afraid of it’s something to celebrate and just like. give me some quality phoebe/paige. and then keep piper/paige roughly the same i’ve spoken a lot on how much i like how they didn’t seem to like each other at first and how they were both very uncompromising in the type of women that they were and despite both being stubborn and snippy they ended up growing really well together i would end up sprinkling in a couple more heart 2 hearts between the two bc they rarely got any but yeah. and then while i’m still on character dynamics i think we should have brought sam in as more of a recurring character just to like have around and also maybe thru him flesh out patty more bc you have just ripped the halliwell family apart killing prue i would like to see time dedicated to healing the family you know really establishing them as A Family not just as The Charmed Ones. travelling on to plot, as stated earlier, i don’t like the overarching source bit not a fan i think we can keep having him send minions in between phoebe’s premonitions demons after cole and maybe even a charge or two for paige and that’ll keep us stacked enough to get a firm sister dynamic til s4 finale the source thanoses it like fine i’ll do it myself promising us a big charmed/source battle in s5. since i’m doing that there will obviously be no cole source plotline bc lbr it completely blows. now, i’m not a huge fan of phole. never really have been, i’ve said this before, i’m not a huge fan of the ‘pretends to be in a relationship with somebody to kill them trope’ bc while the evil party might be developing genuine feelings the good party is falling in love with a hoax and that kinda bugs me. flip side of this i do love the idea of actively trying so super hard not to fall in love with somebody but you literally just can’t help it because that one’s great, so theoretically phole would sit neutral But there’s the fact that like cole’s what like 110 during the show? and he’s been like top demon for a really long time? what i’m saying is he was evil and brutally killing people for like a century. that’s a lot of time. i don’t like it. But. again there’s this forbidden love tilt and also a large part of the fanbase Love phoebe & cole so if i’m running the show imma say fuck it phole endgame bc it’s what the people deserve. a large part of this would be turning a blind eye to cole’s whole past and pretending that y’know maybe he never killed anyone! and it would be him ready to fight the whole underworld simply so he could have a life with the woman he loves, which could be sweet. i don’t think i’d ever really want to see queen of hell phoebe or source cole just bc like. meh. what did we really gain from that? phoebe’s character tanked piper suffered more paige was just there like hi i’m new here What like it wasn’t that good. also side note when that happened the girls should have all lost their active powers like they did in power outage. but w/e. we’re not doing that so we don’t need to worry about it. so yeah, my s4 would really take a primary emphasis on healing the family, a secondary emphasis on making phole endgame, and a tertiary emphasis on the source sending various minions and assassins to kill them. also shax would take longer to vanquish

Random angel and demon AU I just came up with with a plot I’m coming up with on the spot? Yes.

(If there’s even going to be a plot, that is)

This will be mostly Karasuno centred cause they were who I thought of when I thought of this AU. I may do the other schools’ versions of this too (unlikely but there’s a small possibility)

I’ll just clear it up as to who’s what first.

Angels: Tsukishima, Sugawara, Hinata, Asahi

Humans: Daichi, Yachi, Nishinoya

Half human, half demon: Kageyama, Yamaguchi, Kiyoko

Yeah, these may seem odd at first but let me explain. By explain, I mean give their backstories in here cause I think that clears things up. (Also, I didn’t include Ennoshita and Tanaka cause I couldn’t really think of anything for them)

Yamaguchi lived with demons for most of his life, he was bullied for being a half human so life generally sucked for him but one day, while he was being bullied again, Tsukishima sorta “saved” him. Note, in here, angels and demons are pretty much told to stay away from each other and each others’ business. Like they basically try their best to each avoid each other. It was a thing that came about after a giant war between the two which resulted in massive casualties on both sides and the agreement to each stay out of the other’s business and to leave them be. Tsukishima, being an angel, and calling them pathetic sends them running.

And Yamaguchi, well, that’s the first time someone’s ever been kind to him and he wants to thank him and that’s basically how they become friends and Yamaguchi spends more and more time with Tsukki and Tsukki wants him to leave the demon world and visit the human world. He says it’ll be better for him. But Yamaguchi doesn’t really dare to and their whole thing is centred around Yamaguchi finally leaving a toxic environment and getting used to the human world and just trying his best. Character growth and insecurities in here too! (I love those two)

As for Daichi and Sugawara, Sugawara’s an older angel, he’s been around for a while and kinda flutters around and helps out where he can and one day, he meets Daichi who beats him to the chase to help someone and he just kinda falls for him. He knows it’s a bad idea, humans don’t live forever, angels do and he’s known the pain of getting too attached to a human but he can’t help it. And he spends more time with Daichi and they both slowly fall in love with Daichi completely unaware of Suga being an actual angel.

Nishinoya runs a sort of safe space for angels and demons alike. If any of them have any issues, they go to him. Fake IDs, creating fake histories, birth certs, practically everything under the sun that a supernatural creature may need help with, he’s your guy. Both demons and angels know not to mess with him.

Kageyama has been bored out of his mind for a good few decades or centuries or so (he’s spent most of it sleeping) before he finally decides that maybe it’s time for him to go live a little. So he decides to travel the world. He goes to Noya’s to get the things he needs for it and well, Noya and Hinata are friends and Kageyama bumped into Hinata there. Needless to say, their first interaction is certainly ...dynamic. And as annoyed as Kageyama is with Hinata, he finds him amusing and somehow manages to convince him to travel the world with him. Yeah, they somehow end up falling in love too. Mutual pining, fear of rejection, all that fun stuff.

Kiyoko was being hunted and injured by some people after being discovered to be a demon. Yachi quickly took her in and helped her heal. Yachi is a human but she has some magic after one of her ancestors won a bet with an angel centuries ago so she uses said magic to help speed up the healing process. But she also doesn’t want Kiyoko to be in danger like that again so she approaches Noya who she met through Hinata. And well, turns out Kiyoko was banished from her demon home and Yachi offers her a place to stay and Kiyoko starts to forge a new life there. New beginnings, fluff, some insecurities, growth. (Okay, honestly I’m good with Kiyoko being shipped with both Yachi and Tanaka, I just thought that fit this AU, Yachi fit better)

Finally, Asahi and the actual plot. Asahi meets the extremely chaotic Noya when trying to find the person who helped the supernatural creatures. I was thinking that Asahi wanted help from him to find out everyone who had came to him for help in the recent years cause I don’t know, there was said to be someone starting to track down all these demons and angels in the human world who were trying to forge a new life there and kill them. And he wanted to know who they were to keep them safe. Now, Noya in here is extremely good at reading people and he senses the right things from Asahi and agrees. And the two of them sorta set out to deal with this issue together.

Honestly this is more of like mini mini stories surrounding the same AU, are interconnected and sorta just come together. This was long, I’ve just made myself want to write this but yeah. I honestly don’t know how to end so well, yup, I suppose that’s it for now.

* When MC comes to Zen’s apartment and he opens the door for him he looks straight ahead....only to see nothing and have to look a little further down instead, only to meet MC’s grumpy face as MC realises just how much taller than him Zen is

* If Zen even tries to mention their height difference he will get a kick in the shins and a ‘it’s you that’s freakishly tall okay! Have fun knocking your forehead onto door frames and stuff’ along with a huff that okay, why is Zen finding another dude’s huff to be this freaking cute?!

* He’ll eventually come around to the idea of liking another guy, and he’ll probably be just as posessive as he’d be with an MC of any other gender; if anyone even looks at his MC funny they’ll be met with Zen’s Death GlareTM

* Will brag about his boyfriend to the press, which would probably make the entirety of his fandom on tumblr scream tbh 

JUMIN:

* He....literally doesn’t care? Lmao

* This dude is completely indifferent to gender, he’d never think twice about wether MC’s a man or any other gender.

* When MC comes to his penthouse, he’s shocked and delighted to find this short man on his doorstep. He’s like a little cat!

* He wouldn’t mention their height difference, careful as to not offend MC, but he’d point it out in subtle ways, be it helping MC grab something from a higher shelf, or hugging them from behind and resting his chin on the top of their head

* There’s only one, very very significant difference to the fact that MC’s a man...

JAEHEE:

* ??? Doesn’t care???? 

* Pretty much same as Jumin more or less

* It took quite a while for her to even start to look at MC from a romantic perspective, so  she didn’t really care about neither their gender nor appearance

* It might’ve been really hard for MC at first when he was falling for Jaehee-seeing her constantly mention how beautiful Zen is with his tall frame and long legs was a big hit to MC’s ego, as he looks to his own height

* When he and Jaehee get together though, she assures him she couldn’t care less about how tall he is-she doesn’t love him for his appearance, she loves him for who he is and for the inner beauty he’s shown her

* Besides, she finds it endearing almost how they’re pretty much the same height. They’re the cutest couple around!!

1. Favorite living world season?

As much as some of the fights feel really badly balanced, I enjoy LS2 for the close knit new family feel. The whole little group is still figuring their dynamics out and finding their independence, and it’s a real good found family sorta feel as you Go Through A Lot.

2. Favorite expansion?

Heart of Thorns holds a special place in my heart (lol) just for being the first new story since I’d started playing. It’s got many flaws looking back, but nothing has actually hit me harder since. Maybe because anet overuses the punch of tragedy and death an I’m numb to their attempt to low blow us after several years *shrugs*

3. Favorite soundtrack?

The music in Caledon forest was my first step into gw2, and it will forever hold the top spot for me, alongside the original character select screen music.

4. First profession you played?

Ranger! Still one of my absolute favorites.

5. First race you played?

Sylvari, go figure

6. Favorite Destiny’s Edge character?

It’s a tough choice for me! Eir and Caithe rank highest though due to their unconventional character arcs for women. They’ve both got a lot of nuance and challenges and I respect that.

7. Favorite Dragon’s Watch character?

Again gotta pick two, Braham and Rox have a unique feel too and are amazing foils to each other’s characters. I’d like to see more of them together again.

8. Favorite Elder Dragon?

I love the potential held in Bubbles. Deep sea dragon, whose awakening scared even the krait off? Give me those deep sea horrors.

9. Best boss fight (story)?

I honestly really love the final fight against Zhaitan. It really managed to encapsulate the feeling of fighting a larger than life powerful enemy with an army at your back. No big fight since for me has had the same grandeur to it. We did a lot of fighting dragons in “smaller” ways or with “smaller” teams that just feel more...compact, ya know? I want that grandeur back.

10. Best boss fight (fractal)?

Jade maw is fucking wild! And it’s not the boss of its fractal but the giant living statue.

11. Best boss fight (raid)?

Never been in one, would love to one day when I’m in a guild who does them when I’m awake...

12. PvE or PvP or RP?

PvE by far, and RP is fun when you can find the right people.

13. Favorite canon couple?

In one map, there’s a seraph soldier and a bandit having a secret date. They’re so fucking extra and sappy and unnecessary and I love fining them and reading their cheesy star-crossed dialogue.

14. Favorite fanon/self made couple?

With another player, my favorite currently is Matthias with @ascalonianpicnic‘s Aildyn. The two have a very good dynamic.

Solo, I really love my new commander, Kai, with Caithe. I’ve built up a back-an forth for the two that I’m a lot more compelled by than I thought I’d be! I’m excited to share more on these two.

Okay, so I got a little creative last night because I had this cute idea, but then it splintered into a TON of ideas and I honestly just don’t have time to write them all, so I figured what I could do is give you all of the headcanons that I have for the couples in order to help flush the idea out of my mind. AU PREMISE FOR ALL STORIES: One boy loves/likes/hates/has some feelings toward the other boy, so they make an anon Tumblr and send them an ask that leads to them talking. 

Also the boys are all in college. Cause yeah...>.>

H2O Vanoss: Evan is a popular music blog “Vanoss”, Jonathan is the shy follower who sends in an unusually sweet message on New Years Eve as his New Years resolution (Luke challenges him to do something he’s wanted to do forever, and Jonathan tell him he’s going to confess to his crush but won’t tell him who it is). Jonathan has been friends with Evan for five years, and in love with Evan for two years after hearing him perform a self-written song during a charity event for the school. He intended for this to be his only ask, so he kind put a lot of feelings into it and wrote it as a submission (as Tumblr only allows 500 characters). Also, randomly reblogs a cute picture of Evan fanart. After this he goes to sleep, he wakes up to a bunch of alerts saying that “Vanoss” will be doing a surprise performance that afternoon in the school common area. Jonathan goes, wanting to see his performance (as he’s gone to all of them, being Evan’s “Good luck charm”) and hangs in the back while texting Evan a stupid good luck thing. He kinda gets surprised Evan speaks to the crowd (as he never does), and he’s kinda obviously nervous but in THE cutest way possible. Jonathan is kinda smitten by this before Evan says ‘this goes out to someone who kind of made my night, and uh… I hope they’re here listening to this. Thanks for the letter, Delirious.’ Jonathan is like ‘...WHAT’ in his head and Evan sings this really sweet/cute song. Everyone loves it, and it’s obvious that people are snapchatting it and taping it, all with the same question: Who is Delirious?! After the song, Evan gives a little smile and is like ‘If you’re here, lemme know if you like it or something, Del.’ Cue Del kinda panicking and first thought is ‘must deactivate the tumblr and get rid of all of the evidence’ but as he’s going on his tumblr, but when he goes home, he’s got +99 notifications, all of them tagging him in the video and being like ‘Respond!’ He also gets like 200 more followers (“I DON’T EVEN USE THIS BLOG”) and people sending him asks about who he is. He does kinda make a post about himself saying he goes to the school (as some people were calling him a creep/saying he’s not real) but he can’t say who he is. Cue the craziness that is Jonathan being Evan’s friend and “trying to help him” find out who Delirious is, all while trying to keep his own feelings hidden because he’s re-falling in love with Evan through their chats on Tumblr.

Okay, this one is 99% going to be written. >.> I love it too much not to.

OhmToonz: “Ohmwrecker” is a Tumblr writer, who has gotten popularity for a web-book he is doing. Luke is a friend of Ryan’s and one of the only people who knows he is the Ohmwrecker. During a moment of writer’s block, Ryan asks for people to send him motivation asks to get him back on track. Luke, bored and feelin’ some kind of way because his best friend is too busy writing his story to pay attention to him, sends a flirty anon to get Ryan to blush and then log off of Tumblr. Ryan, however, gets a little bit of courage, and ends up flirting back with ‘ Toonzy’ as the anon has labeled himself. Luke is kinda impressed with his friend, and starts sending stupid one-liners and little flirty messages that imply that he actually knows Ryan, not just ‘Ohmwrecker’. This is kinda risky for Ryan, who has kept his identity a secret from the other kids on campus. But Ryan is really into this guy, who shifts onto messenger as ‘Cartoonz’ and maybe there’s a lot of sexual stuff that happens. >.> But as they kinda heat up, Luke slips that Ryan knows him, too, and now Ryan is like ‘wait, what?? We’re friends?!’ except Luke doesn’t remember telling Ryan this because he’s drunk. Now, Ryan is trying to figure out who Cartoonz is without letting Cartoonz know that he knows that Cartoonz knows him. It’s a hot mess.

TerrorMoo: Brian is a Tumblr artist, and Brock has been sending him anon messages for a while about his art. The two of them are cordial, living in the same dormintory, and bumping into each other late at night in the community room (Brock stays up late to finish papers and Brian says he draws best at 2am). Finally one day, Brock bites the bullet and makes a tumblr, wherein one night he reblogs all of Brian’s art and leaves really sweet tags on each one. Brock also does little analysis for each one, as Brian had earlier talked about possibly stopping his career in art in order to pursue a ‘more stable job’. This ends up getting a lot of activity regarding Brian’s work, and Brian takes notice of the like, 30 reblogs/comments “Moo-Snuckle” left on his work. Brian now is on the hunt to figure out who this mystery man is, and Brock is desperate to hide the truth, thinking that Brian will realize that he’s in love with him. Also can’t stop commenting/reblogging each of Brian’s new pictures, because Brian has openly said that ‘Moo’ is inspiring him to keep going with his art. Gay-os ensues.

MiniCat: Tyler doesn’t like Mini (a semi popular movie critic Tumblr) and so he sends him an anon message (was going to send hate, but Brian tells him to send a ‘love ask’ to pull a prank on him) and Tyler kinda expects a pompous answer or him kinda gloating about people sending him love. Instead, he’s surprised when Mini is really humbled, and starts to ask questions about him, as he would like to ‘get to know the person who was stupid enough to fall for him’. Tyler’s kinda stuck now, and he sorta grumbles out a ‘you’re not that stupid’ and hence them kinda talking through asks. Then Mini boldly tells him to send him a private message to him because he wants to get to know him better. Tyler, in a panic, creates ‘I-Am-Wildcat’ and reblogs a bunch of random shit to make it look like he had a blog all along. Accidentally shares some nsfw stuff, including gay boys, and Mini is like ‘oh wow, you’re really proactive about gay rights and stuff, that’s really cool’. Tyler is actually really sorta closeted atm, so he’s like ‘....fuck’. But hey, he’s anon, so it won’t REALLY hurt, right? And it’s through kinda talking to Mini that he starts to become okay with himself, and then comes the problem; how does he tell Mini that he’s falling for him when 1) Mini doesn’t know he’s gay irl and 2) The whole thing was a joke from the beginning? (not anymore lmao)

Krii7y: Smiity had just ended a relationship and was kinda feeling like shit about it. Put a post up saying ‘Should I even keep my tumblr? It’s not like anyone would care’. Smiity ends up getting an anon saying ‘I care, you fuck.’ Smiity, feeling a little self-deprecating, starts a conversation with ‘Kryoz’ about how he’s wrong, and if he did disappear, it wasn’t like this guy actually knows him. And when the guy is like ‘I do’ and Smiity is like ‘prove it’, the guy sends a anon with Smiity’s real name. And now Smiity’s like ‘wait wtf how do you know me? Who are you?’ and Kryoz is like ‘figure it out, bitch’. And this whole story is like, Smiity trying to figure out who this person is, while Kryoz gives him clues as well as flirts kinda (in their weird way) and Smiity is so focused on this new person and figuring it out that he kinda slips out of his depression about his ex and falls for this new quirky man.

So yeah, these are my silly AUs for these weirdos involving Tumblr asks. I don’t know, I just...my brain is too full of stuff. Just had to get these out. Let me know what you think.

1.Supernatural. Castiel.

Obviously. I may be out of the fandom now, but I’ve never loved a character as much as Cas, and probably never will.

2. Good Omens. Aziraphale.

Thought I’d put both my darling angels at the top :) I suspect that without Zira there to pave the way Castiel may not even have existed, so I love him double - for himself and for Cas as well :p 

While really quite different when it comes to their personalities (just think how Zira would SHUDDER at Cas’ trenchcoat), they share a lot of character traits and tropes (mini-series!Zira anyway, maybe less so in the book, or less obviously anyway), so, no surprise that I should adore them both. I’ve also said before, and I stand by it, that Aziraphale is sort of a combination of my favourite aspects of both Cas and Dean in one, with Cas’ struggle with Heaven/god and trying to be a good angel and finding he loves humanity/earth more, plus Dean’s whole ‘performing Dean’ thing and repression of queer feelings he is scared to admit to (out loud) because he believes they are somehow ‘wrong.’ 

...just to give a little insight into my feelings about these two that was neither needed nor asked for...

4. Hellblazer. NBC Constantine. Legends of Tomorrow. John Constantine. 

Aaaand the other guy I love twice because Cas, and indeed spn in general, kinda owe their existence to him. Though in turn his fabulous live action portrayal by Matt Ryan probably owes its existence to spn and Castiel’s popularity. So... there’s a weird ouroboros situation happening with my favs here that makes my head spin whenever I think about it, but I love it - stories within stories built on stories feeding off stories, which connects to wider themes of story and storytelling being vital and intrinsic to life and stuff.

Anyway, despite his wardrobe, Johnny is NOTHING LIKE CAS. He is, in fact, a lot like Dean. But I like him more. Maybe because he’s British :p He has the whole ‘repressing his feelings’ things, a bit like Zira, but it’s not because he thinks they are wrong, it’s more of a coping mechanism to deal with the constant tragedy/trauma his life/lifestyle/fate causes him to suffer. But whatever the reason, I like my characters facing that struggle :) (actually the British element is probably way more significant to my enjoyment of him than I’ve been fully aware of... that’s probably why I loved Zira so fast as well... obviously they are both a completely different class of British, literally, but the fact they ARE British is INTRINSIC to both their characters, and I guess a little, vaguely patriotic part of me is excited by that... :p)

4. Gotham. Edward Nygma.

Since I’ve started giving explanations - I love Eddie because he’s also got the whole ‘emotionally repressed’ / out of touch with (his) emotions thing going on (as seen in Zira and Cas), but with the addition of various geeky / ‘tech guy’ character traits that I also love.

5. Doctor Who (Classic). Vislor Turlough.

I waxed poetic once about how I liked Gotham’s Edward Nygma because he reminded me a bit of Turlough. That was early on in my Gotham days though and given how Eddie developed I don’t see as many similarities now. Turlough shares some of Eddie’s ‘dark’ traits however - self-centered, often lacking in empathy for others and nonplussed (sometimes even happy) to see them get into trouble or hurt. But ultimately his attempts to be self-serving and cowardly end up thwarted by him developing feelings for specific individuals despite his best efforts, which is what I enjoy about him (and actually that’s a lot like Eddie still, huh... their endgame’s are opposing though ofc - while Eddie goes on to embrace being a villain, Turlough gives up on villainy and even becomes a bit of a hero, now and then). Plus, Turlough is the ONLY Companion (IIRC?) to have joined the Doctor specifically in order to MURDER him and... idk, I just think that’s cool :P

6. Doctor Who (New). Donna Noble.

(I’m trying not to double up on fandoms/shows so I can cover more, but New and Classic Who count as different things, kinda, right...?)

Donna doesn’t really fit any of the character traits I’ve talked about above, though I guess her low self-esteem is something that all my other favs share in various ways (though it’s not such an EXPLICIT aspect of their characters and story arcs as it was for Donna I’d say). What I first loved about her was that after YEARS of New companions (and other randoms) being literally in love with the Doctor, she had a strictly platonic relationship with him. Yeah, I think maybe the show was a bit heavy-handed about it, but even so it came as a huge breath of fresh air and frankly a RELIEF to me. Not that I’m opposed to the Doctor having romantic/sexual  relationships, it was just that... coming from a childhood love of the Classic series where that just... didn’t happen (save a fleeting kiss in the TV Movie - which I actually enjoyed fyi!), it just... idk, was starting to stretch my credulity that EVERYONE seemed to be falling for him maybe? Or at least for me it was growing tiresome. So the fact she didn’t have that element to her character/story was a plus. Then I just adore how loud and brash she is when calling anyone, including the Doctor, out on their shit (I envy her that maybe). Plus I like the way she isn’t... traditional TV pretty, you know? (ie. young and slim, like a lot of other companions).

...or maybe I just like redheads *shrug emoji* 

7. Spartacus. Naevia.

(she has two actresses okay? and they both deserve kudos!)

Truth is I love FUCKING EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE IN THIS SHOW. Spartacus is like... my PERFECT SHOW. There isn’t a single moment, a single plotline, a single character that I don’t enjoy. I have never even CONSIDERED looking up or writing fic because the finished product is completely satisfying exactly as it is. God. But I wanted it represented in this list so I had to pick someone!

Considering the time period there couldn’t really BE a ‘geeky, emotionally repressed with low self-esteem’ character :p BUT nearly ALL of the characters have the whole ‘struggle to understand/discover who they are’ thing and the ‘who I am and want to be is counter to who I’ve been told I am / should be’ arc, on account of the main cast being rebelling slaves (though the other characters are equally complex and compelling and I love them too - Lucy Lawless in particular is incredible!). Anyone who’s seen me blog about the show before might have thought I’d pick either Agron or Nasir as my favs, since I do like to squee over their romance. But whenever I think about the show it’s usually Naevia who I remember first, because her character arc/development just BLEW ME AWAY. She went from someone I’d kinda dismissed at first as a typical het love interest to a WARRIOR GODDESS and you SEE all the key moments of that growth, you FEEL it, it makes ALL THE SENSE. And her romance with Crixus, which again I was initially a bit dismissive of as a typical, sudden, weak het romance, grows into, imo, one of the deepest, most developed, most believable love stories in the show. So yeah. Naevia. Amazing.

8. Due South. Ray Vecchio. 

(he’s the guy not the dog - gifs were limited! ...also the dog is actually a wolf, it’s a whole thing... that doesn’t need exploring at this juncture)

Ray was my first TV crush :P He had a bit of a sidekick vibe to him I guess, which I like (lead characters tend not to interest me as much). He wasn’t ‘geeky’ exactly, but he def had the ‘trying to look/act cooler than I am’ thing going on... also an obsessive attachment to his vintage car... meanwhile his partner Benny was the stoic, ‘British, stiff upper lip, keep emotions in check’ one who was always trying to live up to the ideal persona dictated by his people/employers, in this case the Royal Canadian Mounted Police... HUH, so... it’s actually SUPER WEIRD that I ended up loving Cas and Zira over Dean and Crowley when it seems pretty clear suddenly that my first big fictional fav was CLEARLY the Dean-Crowley to Benny’s Cas-Zira......?? Ray was FUNNY in a way Dean and Crowley aren’t though, I think? He def filled a ‘comic relief’ slot on the regular and I liked that a lot (it also made his serious, angsty moments EXTRA serious and angsty, and extra angst is something I always love!)

9. The Librarians. Eve Baird.

Remember this little show? It was... is... sorta ridiculous. Not amazing. Based on some... very cheap, very OBVIOUS Indiana Jones rip-off films, that were also ridiculous and... not... great (the third one is the best, with an awesome performance by Stana Katic aka Kate Beckett as a vampire, but I digress). But... idek, I am EXTREMELY FOND of the series for some reason :p

There are a WHOLE BUNCH of characters that fit my ‘type’ more than Eve tbh... in fact... probably every.single.other.main.cast.member (save perhaps Jenkins?) shares the traits above that typically make a character my fav. But... EVE! I just... think she’s neat! ...maybe it’s BECAUSE all the others are main/lead characters that makes me gravitate towards her? In a cast where ‘geeky, socially awkward, struggles with emotions’ is the norm, Eve being the no-nonsense, socially competent, badass soldier type therefore becomes different and thus more interesting to me? Also, much like with Donna, I appreciate that she’s an older woman who gets to have a full character and plot of her own. There’s also something about her romance with Flynn that... makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

10. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Jonathan Levinson.

Listen. Look. Okay. Buffy is pretty old school these days so, for anyone not in the know, as a character, originally, Jonathan... he wasn’t even a side character, he wasn’t even REOCCURRING, he was barely a background character. For several episodes he didn’t have a name and it wasn’t until several seasons after he became ‘Jonathan’ that he actually got a surname. Danny Strong was just an actor who happened to be occasionally on-hand when the script called for a random to have a line, until eventually that happened often enough for Joss to think ‘hey, you know what, let’s make this guy an actual part of the show...’ 

He got a couple of episodes focused on him in S03 and S04 respectively, but didn’t become a regular until S06 (and wasn’t in S05 AT ALL). Other than that he had a HANDFUL of ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ moments here and there, not even full scenes for the most part, usually lasting no longer than the above gif.

I tell you all this so that when I say childhood me (well... somewhere between 12 and 14 years anyway) was OBSESSED with this character in the show, and I mean O B S E S S E D (to the point of spending hours painstakingly making VHS recordings purely of the episodes he was in), you understand how UTTERLY BIZARRE that was. Because this obsession pre-dated S06. Was, in fact, in full swing during the airing of his S04 episode - which was, like, a fucking DREAM COME TRUE for freakily obsessed me fyi, because the whole episode was constructed with him as the LEAD CHARACTER, because he’d performed a spell to make him super awesome. They even changed the title sequence to read ‘Jonathan’ instead of Buffy! And while other fans were no doubt just lol-ing at the random I was bouncing about on my sofa all ‘MY TIME HAS COME!’ and fucking SWOONING over seeing MY CHARACTER suddenly in the spotlight and getting to do crazy fun OOC shit like this -

Then when S06 rolled around and HE WAS A LEGIT REGULAR, omg, I was in HEAVEN! First TV boxset I ever bought that - Buffy S06 :P

So... yeah. A bit of a fav. Geeky. Outcast. Slowly grows more morally grey, what with that spell I mentioned and also the fact he was teamed with the ANTAGONISTS in S06. I guess you could say he was the beginning of a lot of my fav fictional character traits/tropes (though looking back - I think his ‘villainous’ teammates in S06, Andrew and Warren, are more my ‘type’ these days, and I did end up loving Andrew especially a whole damn lot, but at the time I’d been a Jonathan fangirl for so.fucking.long. there was just no chance anyone else in the show was ever gonna come close to my heart!)

Actually sorry I have so few women on the list :( Internalised misogyny/sexism is a real thing and I spent a lot of my life being... somewhat unfairly dismissive of female characters or at least prioritising male ones over them. I’m working on it.
