first off, Stormview is so...grand and beautiful and so big my goodness what do you do with all that land???? second off, the Calm & Collected™️ brother and the Loud & Chaotic™️ sister having a reunion??? i can’t stop giggling at Percival's reaction to Elias inviting Aunt Lavinia. like he just feels so betrayed by his own son lmao. But my god, that moment where Cherie got mistaken as her mother again. that’s just a different kinds of ache right there

LUCIE AND IONA??!?!?!?!? this is so cute. and i know it’s highly unlikely to happen bc not only are they very different in status but they’re also the same sex so. ugh. society back then would be unforgiving. but i can dream they’re all living in peace and love <3

oh that sweet moment with Aunt Lavinia, “my sweet Cassie” my heart is aching and the fact that she used to exchange letters with her. god, i want to know more about that friendship. but omg, Lavinia’s reaction to Cassie calling out for the duke in her death bed has led me to believe that Percy has fucked up more than we’re lead believe. i mean, that’s her own brother, she should feel sort of protective over him right? and a lil bias? but she doesn’t. meaning, Percy probably really really hurt Cassie. so Percival, you are on my watchlist now lakslask bc lbr, if people aren’t making it easy for Anthony, why are we going to make it easy for Percy? when he quite frankly, did damage for quite a loooong time. and i mean, Cherie still not calling him as her father. Anthony was right in that extra scene huh? they’re still not on good term. no matter if he claimed her as her daughter, Cherie still can’t find it in her to forgive him. and i think once we get to see what really happened is when we can truly weigh all the odds.

the little glimpses of Anthonias™️ being Spawns of Satan™️ when they were younger i loveeee. Elias covering Anthony with a coat and saying “We’re men, we will fix it ourselves.” i’m like...honey...you’re men, you tend to ruin things first alskalskalsk but pls that was cute. these two idiots i swear. and Anthony running into the glass? *chef’s kiss* that’s probably why his braincells are a little shaken too lmao.

god...honestly, i don’t know why i’m still surprised by her stubbornness, i mean, it’s probably one of the traits Anthony loves about her. but with the convo with Violet (tbh, with everyone at this point), she’s actively choosing not to hear anyone. like surely Anthony's own mother saying he looked happier and freer with her has some weight to it? but alas, she’s as stubborn as she can be. and once she sets her mind of something, it will take a force, and by force i mean, everyone currently in Stormview right now.

okay, this part got me a lil confused for second. Cherie saying her feelings don’t matter because he hurt her. is it bc she still believes that love doesn’t come with pain? so she’s saying that her love doesn’t matter bc Anthony doesn’t reciprocate it? her proof being he hurt her so she still believes it’s unrequited all bc of the whole “you’re not supposed to hurt someone you love”? OR is it bc she thinks that the pain everlasting? like now that she’s hurt, she’s going to keep hurting no matter what? so even though she loves him, she’s still in pain, hence why her affections don’t matter. which does make sense for her bc this is her first heartbreak after all. and no matter how many times people tell her this isn’t forever, she doesn’t agree. honestly, it can go both ways.

also, i don’t think Anthony looked hurt bc she “went against the norm” by her expressing and outright saying he hurt her. which is implied that he looked like he’d been slapped bc she hit him through his ego. i don’t think that’s the case. i think he looked hurt bc he knows he hurt her. but her saying it, just hurts even more bc it makes it more real. and he regrets it deeply. hurting someone you love is a different kind of pain itself.

i adore her, i do. and i’m happy she’s standing her ground and trying to stand up for herself. but she definitely is still not being rational with anything. she’s driving with her emotions still and it’s going to take a long while for her to realise that this is going to hurt her even more in the long run. also, Anthony is actually a lil tamer than i expected him to be. don’t get me wrong, he’s still being Intense™️ with his words but he’s not giving out excuses or anything. he’s not disregarding her feelings either. like he’s still talking to her with respect and he really was just asking for her to let him prove himself. like, there’s no malice or threat or anything really. he’s trying his best to talk to her. but tbh, they’re talking yes, but they’re NOT Communicating™️ so much speaking so little listening ugh.

DEAR GOD NOT PIERRE. honestly, i am hanging by a thread to a point that i would rather have Cherie & Anthony be caught in a very close, no kissing or anything, but Very Close™️ for it to be proper and be seen by someone so they can get married. I would honestly take that than her saying yes to Pierre. like...i don’t know which is more torture for her at this point. a loveless marriage with Pierre, who, btw, we still don’t really know much about, his family, does he have a tempter, etc. etc.. OR a marriage of convenience with Anthony but it is guaranteed that there is love there. they will have their issues and Cherie will prolly despise him for quite some time. but i’m sure they will learn to work thru them once they’re married and Anthony will so his best prove himself that he truly does love her and be the best husband. Am i bias? of course. but i’d pick Anthony any day.

because, okay, let’s do a hypothetical and say she actually does marry Pierre, a knight (or a soldier? that’s the same thing? no?) but anyway, someone actually very below Cherie’s social status. and i know she said she doesn’t care about titles and everything but her lifestyle of having new dresses whenever she wants, new jewelries, all these extravagant things, i mean she’s a duke’s daughter, and someone who is, quite frankly, very spoiled. do we really think Pierre can provided all that for her? she’s not marrying him for love, so that part of her happiness is already chucked away. but then, she can’t even find any solace in her love to dress up anymore bc, well, they probably can’t afford it in the way that she’s used to. not to mention, going back to Paris, that would be really bittersweet with all her memories with her mother. but then, she’s so far away from everyone else. sure, she’s going to be far from Anthony, even tho that won’t really make her happy. but what about Elias, Cece, Percy, Eloise, the bridgertons??? just everyone she cares about and whether we like it or not, they are the only family she’s got left and she’s just getting used to this new family of hers and growing to love them but then she’s just going to get...taken away so suddenly once she gets married? so it’s just....it’s a different kind of torture for her i will tell you.

i wonder what Cece and Elias will say once they find out that Cherie is wanting to marry Pierre. i bet once Elias finds out you’ll just...never see Pierre again and then Ellias is going to say “Oh Pierre has gone back to France for business” when Elias himself actually shipped him back there on his own accord like no you are never marrying my sister. you are not taking her away from me ever again lmao.

Sigh™️ i can’t help but agree with Anthony on this. her marrying Pierre will not change anything. it will probably only hurt her even more. bc every time she looks at Pierre now, she’s going to be longing for Anthony. and Pierre will be like that constant reminder to everything. she’s marrying Pierre for all the wrong reasons, so when she looks at him, all she will be reminded of is that time of her first heartbreak, her losing Anthony, her first love, and all the things she could have had, that fairytale and how he got stolen like. idk about you but that’s not the best thing to be reminded of when you take a look at your marriage.

it’s quite funny but also frustrating how Anthony is basically confessing but, also not confessing? like he’s saying all these words that can only be interpreted as him having feelings for her?

Exhibit D: “We will stay each other’s prisoner, until the end of time.” meaning, both of them, meaning, Anthony too.

and tbh, i don’t know if him saying outright “I love you” would change much either bc she still won’t believe him. i mean, Cherie saying, “I may be your prisoner” shows how she just...refuses to acknowledge any of them. she hears them, feels them, she’s just not acknowledging what any of it could possibly mean bc she’s already made up her mind the he doesn’t love her. as if this man doesn’t look troubled and heartbroken. again, it’s her stubbornness.

and i get it, he hurt her so badly, she has every right to feel angry at him. he made her not want love anymore. BUT with the way she’s going about it, she’s hurting herself too. by actually refusing to see the different perspectives in this, bc she’s already set on about the fact that Anthony doesn’t love her bc he hurt her. but, what now if she’s unconsciously hurting herself? and it’s kinda ironic how, she believes she truly does love Anthony and that’s why she would never hurt him. but, she can’t see that she’s unintentionally hurting him too. and let’s not forget, people can hurt people in different ways. so her logic about “when you love someone, you would never hurt them” is now slightly flawed don’t you think? but she’s not seeing that at all. bc she’s so focus on her feelings, her idea of love only even tho love can come in so many ways.

now, the thing is (and this is going to sound a little...mean) the idea of “love” she had in her head was way too “fairytale-like” she thinks that being in love doesn’t come with sacrifices or pain or hardship. she believes that love is all sunshine and butterflies. she believes that love should and only should come with pure happiness. her belief in love is actually very opposite to what Anthony believes love does. Anthony refused to have love in the first place bc he knows how much grief and pain it can bring. he saw it first hand. he lost sight of the fact that love can also bring good things bc he only sees the bad.

so this whole thing is just a big lesson for both of them tbh. that love can both be good and bad. it’s just a case of how strong that love is to withhold the hardships and how strong that love is that when you do feel it, it’s just that incomparable high of happiness.

can i just say that their whole convo was so intense but also so...yes??? more??? the tension??? i love??? but anyways, amazing chapter as always <3 so so obsessed with this whole thing honestly. and i believe The Maze™️ is coming up and my god i can’t wait to see what happens!! bc now that Anthony knows about her intentions of marrying Pierre, that man will do everything in his power to stop that from happening. it’s now a fact that someone will propose at the end of this wedding weekend, now come the question: is it going to be two people? if so, who she is saying yes to?

You’re absolutely right ❤ Cherie can say she doesn’t care about all that but that’s where she is still very naïve, because even if she believes that she doesn’t care, Cherie has never, ever been told no when it comes to luxury ❤ Back in France and now in England, she is very much used to a certain lifestyle and she is very spoiled even if she doesn’t realize it ❤ Anthony had a point when he talked about Pierre’s shortcomings and said she wouldn’t be able to get the things she wanted on a knight’s income, even if she keeps insisting it doesn’t matter to her😁

Jaune for the character ask?

I honestly love this kid, but he is a problematic boy, so I’m looking forward to this!

My top three ships for the character

Jaune/Ren is my new favorite Jaune and Ren ship. This is really recent, but the more I think about this ship, the more that I like it. They’re tender, they compliment each other, but they still can challenge each other... I just think they’d be really healthy and cute. Jaune/Neptune is my next favorite ship for him. I headcanon that Neptune had a crush on him in V2 (I also headcanon that all his flirting with girls was a front, though, that he put on to ‘be cool.’) But yeah, Jaune is dorky and cringe, but he learns and grows and turns into this strong leader and kinda a heroic figure, and Neptune puts on a ‘super cool’ act, but has his dorky moments and is an academic, who’s clearly a follower and I think he’d start to admire Jaune. And then, Jaune/Pyrrha as a ship has a lot of problems, and I don’t think it’s an ‘end game’ ship (I mean, she’s dead in canon, but if I was writing a fanfiction where they were in a relationship and she didn’t die, I’d have them break up.) But I do think they could be cute for a stretch with some great interactions and they looked good together. They’re a ‘start-dating-love-each-other-break-up-still-love-each-other’ ship and I’d have loved to see it.

My three least favorite ships for the character

Jaune/Penny is pretty bad because he’s killed her and whether or not she wanted him to, it still soured the ship for me. Jaune/Emerald and Jaune/Mercury are tied here for the next spot because contributing to the death of someone’s ‘might’ve been something’ best friend is gonna be a permanent mark against the ship imo. But the very worst Jaune ship I’ve seen is Jaune/Cardin. Cardin’s a bully and an abusive jerk and Jaune deserves way way better. I can’t see Cardin ever shaping up, and I feel like if they met now that Jaune’s older and has changed and grown so much, Jaune would just view him with an amused sort of contempt.

My biggest criticism for the character

The RWBY writers spent too much time framing him like the main character and giving him way more character growth and strong, emotional scenes than the actual main character. Jaune is a great support character, he thrives as the team-medic, Ruby’s best friend, support and back up where it’s needed. I’m not saying none of Jaune’s character beats should’ve existed - his storyline is one of the stronger storylines in the show - but this is supposed to be Team RWBY and specifically Ruby Rose’s story. They’re supposed to be the four main characters and yet all of them are constantly taking a backseat. Jaune isn’t the only offender in stealing tons of time and the emotional character beats that should go to Team RWBY, but he is the most frequent offender. I love love love Jaune, but I’d love him more if I wasn’t sitting here shaking my head at how the writers apparently can’t write a compelling story about four main woman heroes and instead have to give the most emotional moments of the finale to Jaune while dumping all of the mains out of it (one of them isn’t even in the finale at all!)

My favorite thing about the character

Jaune’s growth is just... Good. One of the best character journeys in RWBY imo. He starts out a gangly teen leagues behind everyone else who doesn’t understand his team, can’t stand up for himself, is throwing himself at girls in a desperate attempt at making himself feel better about his massive insecurities, refusing help from the people who care about him because he has this idea in his head that he has to do it all himself. But you can tell there’s a lot of potential and he cares so much. ”I’m tired of being the loveable idiot stuck in the tree, while his friends fight for their lives,” he says. Then he opens himself up, starts to learn, starts to improve, starts to stand up for himself, starts to get to know his team more. And I wish we’d seen more of that sprinkled here and there throughout the first three seasons (although of course I don’t want the extra focus if Ruby doesn’t grow too!)  But he’s still not keeping up in fights, still struggling at times and needing reassurance, and now going through the pain and grief of losing his best friend and almost-girlfriend. He lashes out, he’s aggressive, but he’s also much closer and softer to his remaining best friends, becoming the much needed family they’re both lacking, while being a great friend to Ruby. Then he becomes a huntsman, and while there are cringe moments and frustrating writing during V7 and V8 just like there are for almost every character, he still has some great moments. I actually love that everyone else didn’t want to take a mission of helping a bunch of kids get from point A to point B and Jaune did, because Jaune was just happy to take a mission as a hunter. I love that when Jaune was reasoning with Winter in V8 and accepting ‘if you go into that whale to get your friend, I can’t wait for you all, you might die’ and he understood that and didn’t try to argue it! He definitely lost some braincells in season 8, don’t get me wrong, but dang, I do love that consistent growth. It’s a shame Ruby didn’t get the same treatment.

A headcanon I have about them

I headcanon that Jaune was raised mostly by his sisters and that his parents were always working, and he had a lot of successful, high-achieving, talented siblings who were all a lot older than him and took care of him, so he wasn’t neglected at all. But he did grow up with an element of isolation and loneliness, not because he was ever really alone, but because he was always alone in his experiences. He was always the baby, always the only one struggling, his sisters always only able to come at his problems from the perspective of ‘I went through that ten years ago’ if at all, and Jaune always felt not even second best, but eigth best and I’m just realizing that that last one probably came from Ron Weasley omg. But I also think his parents loved him and tried to communicate that to him. But they really struggled with Jaune because things never came easy to him the way they did for the others and he was a sensitive kid a lot different than his dad (who I just decided did the whole toxic ‘I want a son to play baseball with because I can’t do that with a daughter and now my only son isn’t good at sports and idk how to talk to him because he’s sensitive and not manly’ thing.) So yeah, that’s part of the reason why Jaune struggled so much when he first got to school.

What I would change about them if I was making a re-write

Honestly, just reducing his role a bit and increasing Ruby’s role makes him so much better. No more being the only person who’s allowed to express grief, no more ‘Ruby is unconscious while Jaune gets to weep over Weiss’s wounded form and unlock his power while she’s out for the count.’ No more ‘Jaune’s the leader with the map and the special emphasis in the V4 opening, Ruby acts like his support character.’ No more ‘he’s the only one who can ever resolve issues and mediate and comes up with most of the plans.’ No more ‘Jaune is the one who gets the finale big moments with Penny despite not even really talking to Penny and he gets the climatic end and he goes on the special spirt Island void place with the mains to get extra attention. Jaune gets to thrive as a central support character.

What I I think of their character allusion and what (if anything) I would change about it

Okay, right off the bat, I’ve got a big problem with Jaune’s allusion. A. I already think there’s a bit of a weird lack of line in what they’ll make a character allusion, but I think ‘a meme’ and ‘an actual historical figure’ should’ve been where they drew that line. And B. Jaune  he started the series in a place of toxic masculinity, which feels weird when it’s a real life person regarded as a feminist icon. So I would definitely for sure just change his whole allusion. I’ve been thinking about maybe Lucy Pevensie from Narnia? Older siblings, no one believes (in) Jaune, but he proves himself soon enough, Jaune winds up following what’s basically a god (Oz,) Jaune is the healer (juice of the fire flower,) and he comes into his own as a brave and valiant leader, but recognizes the authority of others, struggles with jealousy and feeling unprepared, but his pure heart drives him... Increase his devotion to Ozpin and add one or two of the classic Ruby gimmicks would make this pretty easily done.

Lucifer Season 5A overall thoughts!

-i called it. I knew if they opened with Mr Said Out Bitch it was gonna be bc he was dead-- had to be, bc Lucifer was in Hell. Didnt like being right. Thanks for heaping a bunch of character development on a great bit of comic relief just so he can be dead.

-not enough Trixie. What the fuck. Is this a Chandler Riggs situation? Can Scarlett not act or something? Give her stuff to do please.

-EIGHT EPISODES AND NO SINGING LUCIFER???? GODDAMN BLASPHEMY

-i get why people are frustrated with how Maze is written bc it seems like she never does anything but go back and forth but I mean... that's just the writing across the board for this series. Lucifer, Chloe, and Dan have all flipflopped as the seasons progress-- character growth is handled the way real people are, with relapses in bad behavior and having to reiterate lessons more than once. Unusual for television writing, which usually addresses an idea once and then fucks off it forever.

-That said, I enjoyed Maze's arc of dealing with abandonment and seeking a soul. It made sense and was in character-- Lesley played Maze like she felt utterly lost, near madness from frustration, seeking comfort the way she best knows (sex and violence) from the people she loves and not knowing what to do when it wasn't working. I hate that she's so easily manipulated but I feel like it really is bc she wants to feel normal so badly and doesnt realise that normal is relative.

-tangentially, Lilith did not play as big a part as I expected and i was sort of disappointed.

-Tom Ellis' performance as Michael was v good as I previously said, but the entire concept of him was nothing inspired. I really had high hopes for him bc I love twins and especially twins who are like the bane of each other's existence but ffs they didn't do anything with it! So he's the polar opposite of his brother, so what! He's a wicked little American hunchback who lies and schemes and plays on people's fears... why? To what end? His plan kept changing and his entire motivation seems to be "bc I'm a dick." Boring. And he dresses like a twat.

-Lucifer was not stuck in Hell for remotely a long enough time. I am an angstwhore and I wanted pining. The same fucking thing happened when they made Dean a demon on SPN-- oh no we've had a decent idea and gotten our hero up the tree, now let's do absolutely nothing with it and get him back down aqap! Fuck off. They gave us this difficult, interesting situation to work with (how can Lucifer have a relationship if he has to run Hell) and then the moment he came up for the tiniest amount of time, Hell apparently no longer needs a warden! Srsly? When only two months ago, all hell was breaking loose???? Fuck your fucking convenient handwave.

-also I am sad they dropped the hinted mental/emotional toll on Lucifer for having to return to Hell Granted the article is a year old, likely discussing ideas that were in the infancy, but I was looking forward to seeing the "alcoholic running a liquor store." Obviously once they decided they were doing Michael-playing-Lucifer and summarily realised nobody would believe Lucifer changed that much, it was easier to just come straight out and say "yea thats not him, thats the evil twin."

-Amenadiel is lovely as ever. Charming, funny, the perfect mix of earnest and awkward. DB Woodside nails him and I love him. I love his friendships with Dan and Maze, the big brother instinct he gets with Luci and Chloe. He's a big black dude whose primary role is caretaker and I am here for it.

-Nice to see happy funny Dan back after taking a bereavement sabbatical in s4. I like Kevin Alejandro's performance a lot and so I dont like when Dan's being a dickhead bc it makes me wanna smack him. Loved him reading Diablo scenes w Luci-- reminded me of s2 when they were dorking out about the Weaponizer movies. And the cemetery scene, wow. Dan realising Heaven and Hell are real and that he is in danger of damnation and how bad that scares him-- ow my heart. That having been said...

-I didnt really like characters having these massive bombshells dropped on them just bc Michael is a douche-- that's so lazy. It felt like the writers ticking off checkboxes. Okay so he tells Chloe she's a miracle. That's fine I guess-- there are stakes there. We know it's going to rock her world bc we know how much it damaged Lucifer when he found out. But then he orchestrates Dan finding out and apart from the shock factor... who cares? It matters after, but not before. There was no set-up for that punchline. We knew when Linda pushed Lucifer to "drop the metaphor" that it was going to be a biblical shock for her. We knew what a relief it was going to be for Charlotte, who thought she was losing her mind, to learn that Hell was real and she could change her fate. We knew it was a gamechanger when Chloe found out. And that's why Dan gets the fuck over it super fast, bc it doesn't matter. It was just a box to be checked. Boo.

-it was nice getting to see Tricia Helfer bc I adore that woman but i really do hope that we get to see Charlotte properly again. Take me to the silver city already i am sick of not knowing what it looks like.

-i love Linda to bits. She's funny, she's heartwarming, she's the owner of the single braincell and she and Ella occasionally share it while they watch the others try to bite their own elbows.
