#ok i edited the sherlock one a bit because i spotted two mistakes right after posting whoops

Sherlock and John –  Sherlock has somehow ended up getting into trouble at one of the local restaurants and he's making up for it by helping wash dishes, especially because he had nothing to do since he'd just finished a case. And then suddenly John's walking in, all dressed up, clearly on a date. John had moved out months ago, and they'd barely spoken since then. Trying to ignore the burning in his eyes and the bile rising up his throat, Sherlock ducks his head, his hands speeding up, sending soap suds flying in every direction. His eyes don't leave the plate he's scrubbing. But then John catches a glimpse of a rich purple shirt rolled up 'til the elbow, revealing alabaster coloured arms. He gets up onto his toes, spotting a mop of curls bent over a sink. And for a second he pauses, there's no way it's actually Sherlock. And then his date's running late, but he waits, because there's no way. And then she's there and she's bland and boring and... not. She's not Sherlock. And then he's excusing himself, apologising and telling her he can't do this, already walking in the direction of the kitchen. She's rolling her eyes and leaving and he's running to the kitchen, he's not going to let Sherlock go again, not this time. Never again.

Merlin and Arthur –  It had been nearly a year, Arthur told himself as he stood outside the diner. There was no way Merlin still worked here, right? Right. Morgana had told him that Merlin had gotten a better job anyway, that he wasn't waiting tables and cooking here anymore. Jaw set, Arthur walked in, the bell above his head ringing. He resolutely didn't look toward the doors to the kitchen, just walked on to sit at one of the rarely empty tables against the large glass panes, waiting for the girl he'd met a week ago to show up for their date. A message notification pinged on his phone, telling him she was running late. Sighing, Arthur looked up to see the bell ring once more, and all the noise from the people around him seemed to drown away. His entire world zeroed in on a bright grin and blue eyes, now making their way to the kitchen. Blinking, Arthur looked at his hands on the table they rested on. Another ring of the bell, and a button-nosed brunette set her bag down across from him. She was saying something, but he was already out of his seat, chasing down the familiar fading brown jacket and clumsy demeanour. He knew what he wanted, and god forbid he let Merlin slip from his fingers. Not this time. Not again.

Kitty and Min Ho –  Brilliant. His day had just been going wonderfully so far, Min Ho thought bitterly. First, the flight he'd scheduled a week from now had been cancelled, which meant he'd be missing his niece's birthday. And now, his date was running late. Annoyed, he slumped into his seat. And that's when he saw her. A flash of dark auburn hair and despite the low chatter in the restaurant, the tinkling sound of her laugh. She was being ushered into the kitchen by one of the chefs, and his throat went dry. And then his date was settling down in front of him, but he could barely parse the apologetic smile she was shooting his way as he launched out of his seat, practically running to the kitchen to chase her down. Maybe it hadn't been their time then, but as he lets his feet carry him and his heart guide him through the seemingly endless restaurant, dodging bowls of soup and pasta, he realises he doesn't care anymore. He'd made a mistake the first time, but he wasn't going to lose Kitty Song-Covey. Not again.
