Luchar contigo y por ti, con la espera, ¿cuánto tiempo más? ¿Y esperar el qué?"⠀ Ilana Schmueli, de quien proceden estas líneas desesperadas dirigidas a Paul Celan, debió de intuir que su espera de una carta del amado amigo tomaría un final siniestro. El 12 de abril de 1970, Celan le escribe su última misiva: "No te inquietes si pasa algún tiempo —ocho o diez días— sin que recibas carta: a partir de mañana han anunciado una huelga de carteros", escribía.
