tooru doesn’t know how to care about people. that was always — always — hajime’s job, despite the robust corners to his words. tooru smiled and no one believed him, and hajime glared and people trusted him. it began, after a while, to feel a little bit like the natural order of things. tooru snapped in two because he was bored or out of ideas or losing his balance, and no one batted an eye because it worked — because they won the point or the set or the match and his grades stayed even and they were going to get to nationals this year, they were, until they weren’t and he’s long been past cracked in half and hajime is in a different world — and tooru is supposed to know how to handle this by now. ; or: tooru runs out of athletic tape, his apartment is full of boxes, and everyone expects him to know what he's doing

tooru tries hard to distance himself from that mindset, but is really hard when people treat him the way they do.

is really, horribly insecure about himself, to the point where its actually toxic.

his everything showers take literally hours because it starts the night before.

read the secret history and dropped it after bunny died because the only thing keeping him going was how much he hated him.

never remembers to charge his phone. always below twenty percent.

has a habit of spinning his phone between his fingers when he’s nervous, and its all cracked because he keeps dropping it. despite being rich post timeskip, he still has an iphone 6s.

saves voice messages from friends, even if theyre dumb, pointless things. listens to them when he’s feeling homesick in argentina.

awful at math. genuinely believes numbers were invented just to make his life harder.

orders one thing at a cafe and then sits there for like five hours.

made a time capsule with iwaizumi when they were kids and buried it in the park. it ended up having a building built over it not even a year later.

afraid of the dark.

tried keeping a diary once, but it ended up acting more like a volleyball tracker

substituted it with writing letters instead. theyre all in a box under his bed.

horrible at estimating time. says he’ll be ready in five minutes, but actually means twenty

because of this, his friends have been telling him a time early by half an hour in hopes of avoiding it. works thirty percent of the time.

prefers being called pretty. being called hot makes him feel more mature than he actually is

once locked himself in a bathroom stall.

if he’s not watching old matches, he’s watching those 2 hour iceberg videos on god knows what

gets so horribly motion sick, but never tells anyone. it only became public knowledge when he threw up all over matsukawa’s dashboard one hour into a seven hour roadtrip.

has a soft spot for 80s city pop.

gets irrationally angry when his phone autocorrects to the wrong thing

once walked into a glass door in public because he was too busy fighting someone on twitter

hates public speaking but somehow always ends up being the one ‘taking the lead’

never lets anyone fold clothes in his presence because it has to be done in a very specific way

actually has a really soft spot for kids but it doesnt translate to his words and actions

forever holds a grudge

the worst perfectionist to walk the planet. iwaizumi sometimes thinks its OCD, but he just needs everything to be perfect. doesnt want to waste time, and effort.
