Tell me why i read some weeks ago an au fic of oihina that made Hinata a gem from steven universe that meet Tooru and it’s one of the reasons why he likes aliens so much with more than 400k of words and the author was actually able to make me completely in love with the story and how the characters are portrayed? I can’t stop talking about it with everyone i know and can’t wait to read the upcoming chapters.

i've just posted the first installment in what i'm calling my whirlwinds series, following different characters' experiences of the brazil fling. this one centers on oikawa and the end of the "fling."

Oihina just makes so much sense to me.

Shouyou being able to mature and grow as person once he's with someone who didn't really know him as a teen but still understands what volleyball is to him. Learning to talk about his feelings and process his emotions and not just push forward.

Tooru being surprised with how much sadness there can be to Shouyou. Learning to be a little less self-centered so he can help him, learning how to regain that joyful passion that has no resentment attached.

They compliment each other so well, someone who ignores every negative thing so he's stuck in the past and someone that drowns himself in his mistakes and has let them wear him down until he's almost unrecognizable.

i didn’t see it at first but oihina…. the hold you have over me…. this fic by xixuwus on ao3 has me in shambles. i loved the different take on soulmates—maybe some people fit and some just don’t, but feelings are feelings and you might find yourself drawn to people who don’t feel a 100% right. also the characterisation of oikawa omgg he DEFO is the kind of lover that is like a vacuum who just wants everything and really EVERYTHING and any hint that denies him THAT would make him this sort of petty, unsure creature that just wants to either pull everything in or dodge it and i’m glad he embraces that in the end.

AND DON’T GET ME STARTED ON HINATA. the hinata that really thinks it’s alright to try, yet giving oikawa that space and freedom to decide even thought it’s never really been within oikawa’s control—his thoughts, feelings, natural gravitation like he’s in orbit around the sun (LOVE LOVE LOVE the sun metaphors, light, cosmos, love it allll). i love how hinata’s so contemplative in this fic too. the constant “what are we”’s make so much sense—never forceful, always compelling. anyway i will reread this AHHHH

I'm in a little bit of a slow writing period while I deal with a few things irl, but I figure I'll plug a few fic here and there that I'm proud of.

First, is what I called "the monster wip" while I was writing it, and I still call it "the monster fic." Simply because it goes beyond anything I've written before or after. My current thing is to edit it for coherent ebook release, because my style changed significantly in the year and a half while I was posting each chapter right away.

i have been dreaming about this one fic idea for weeks... weeks!!!!

and yet every time i open my word document i can't write a single word. i have thought thru the whole story, every emotional beat, i even have phrasing down for certain scenes after running them in my mind over and over again.

but my fingers refuse to type it out.

Shoyo and Tooru host a Christmas party every year. Since they bought their home in Sao Paulo they really got into decorating it for every occasion, and took every opportunity they got to host- but their anual Christmas party was a whole different level. It was the only occasion in which they knew all their friends from all over the world would fly out and meet all together. They prepared weeks in advance. Tooru walked the whole city, store to store, getting decorations, candles, plants, ornaments, cards- everything carefully thought about and meticulously chosen. Shoyo woke up at the crack of dawn to get to the markets first and make sure he could get the freshest produce available, designing a menu according to the best ingredients he found in them.

They did their gift shopping together, fought loudly in a japanese-portuguese-spanish mix next to the wine display. They made up and held hands for a bit, fought next to the scented candles, made up again- until they had gifts for all the people in their guest lists.

When the day finally arrived, their was home beautifully lit in festive colors, Christmas music came from the speakers, friends and family fleed in from the door and a huge pile of gifts laid under the tree, all perfectly wrapped and tagged with names. There was only one gift that stood out, wrapped, much more sloppily, in a different paper.

The guests could go and check the tag to see who it belonged to, but they didn't need to- every year it was the same, one single gift stuck out like a sore thumb. The only one Tooru couldn't spend an obnoxious amount of time perfectly wrapping, every year tagged exactly the same- "Tooru" and big ugly heart.

And just like every year the gift was there, every year all the party attendees had to sit and watch as Tooru opened it, a smile as big and stupid as he was- as he carefully removed the badly cut paper to discover what was underneath.

BASICALLY i really love the idea of them like. having an insane relationship in brazil? they go from acquaintances at best to being the kind of couple that talks in “wes” in seconds. they can fill out any kind of form they need to for each other up to and including taxes. oikawa has to go to the hospital for something minor and hinata is like. holding his hand and comforting him like he found out he has cancer and six months to live. both their teams think they’re married they go to like barbecues or whatever together and never stray further than five feet the whole night.

and then they go back to japan and back into that acquaintances at best relationship it’s actual insanity

After being on Tumblr for I think nearly a year, and making a fuck ton of posts and gaining mild popularity on certain posts and gaining a whopping 21 followers, I've never made a Hinata Harem post. So yall are finally lucky enough to hear my takes on it ❤️❤️❤️

So first of all, I kinda love the hinata harem thing bc it's actually so funny, but strangely, in a way, it's realistic. Not very well written most of the time, but realistic as a concept.

Bc like he gets along with basically the entire cast, and he sometimes compliments characters who are not used to being complimented, and that character may blush of embarrassment, and then the fandom takes that as shipping material, like with Goshihina. And it makes sense! Imagine you're rarely complimented, and you strive for validation from your peers, especially upperclassmen, and then suddenly, the cutest boy you've ever seen compliments you like you're the only person on the planet. And so then you purposely try as hard as you possibly can to make said boy continue to compliment you. Take this, then multiply it by 100, because I think that's how the harem trope, in Hinata's case, works.

This isn't meant to be in the way that he can be shipped with every single character because truly, he can't. Shipping Hinata with 3rd years, in a typical high school setting, is, at least imo (and not bc of the age gap itself), weird bc of the maturity difference. You shouldn't date a senior as a freshman bc you're on two separate maturity levels. And regarding all of the many 3rd years (tendou, daichi, suga, bokuto, etc), it's really the same exact thing just platonically. Bokuto is literally Hinata's older brother!! He adopted him as a student *and* sibling, bc he felt the same things everybody does, just in a *different* way.

The hinata harem, to me, is the display of hinata's character in reference to every other character, yk? To me, these select few people are actually in love with him, and these people have a "crush," which is more so a platonic feeling, and these people find a true, deep *friendship* with him, one that they've probably never experienced before, and therefore may look like a crush or love to an outside viewer. And, in these different relationships between hinata and other characters, they all love him. They all feel a loving connection with him, like how people would think in a harem, but it's not quite so because all of the people who love hinata love him in different ways.

Now, with how this harem is portrayed in fanfiction actually scares me bc half the people there are much older and mature than him (gen question why do ppl ship him with 3rd years /in high school/, like, I love Brazil Oihina sooooo much but hs Oihina is 😧😧😧) , and tbh it just gets out of control.

And alot of times I see Hinata reciprocate?? With multiple people?? Which is fine to an extent, imo like I love poly ships, I've seen a lot of really cute ones and some more interesting ones, and it's totally normal to have a crush on a few people at once but istg some people make him a goddamn player,,,

I recently read a harem-ish fic, which was much more similar to how I personally find it to be like, it was essentially people having a crush on hinata, or realizing it, and it was cute, but at the same time, Hinata asked one of them on a date, cuddled with like two other guys (which, normalize cuddling platonically but in the context of the fic it wasn't suuuuper platonic but wasn't suuuuuper romantic either iykwim), and the part of that that kinda icked me was just that he was getting on with so many people at once (the fic took place in the span of like a week, and there were like 5 people i think??). And a lot of other fics that are post time skip are just Hinata hooking up with the entire cast at some point???

Idk tbh but I do really like fics where everybody LOVES hinata, but only a few people are IN love with him. Just the balance of like ~5 people having a crush on him, half of the rest of them have adopted him in one way or another, and the other half have just found their new bff.

Btw I think that second to last paragraph is worded a bit poorly I just don't really know else to describe the fic so sorry if it offends anyone I'm free to edit it n if anyone wants more ship related stuff I got you (ALSO GIVE ME GOOD "HAREM" FIC RECS AS LONG AS THEYRE SFW AND COMPLETED!!) 💪💪💪

i don't really care for oihina (duh, this is a kagehina account get your head out of your ass) and I am sure that for most people, kagehina and iwaoi make more sense.

BUT

i honestly think it is hilarious and so interesting the fandom just adopted this idea that hinata and okiawa definitely hooked up during the brazil arc— which makes COMPLETE SENSE? I would think it's stupid if it was just a proximity thing, but the fact that its NOT is so interesting!

hinata being alone, isolated, in a foreign country that he doesn't know the native language, working constantly and if not that, practicing and playing— someone like Oikawa, more than a familiar face, and they are grown adults? And we all know their relationship is decently friendly if not affectionate? come on now

i would LOVE a fic that has endgame kageyama finding this out for the first time, when everyone thought he knew, or better yet, hinata revealing it in passing to him after theyve been dating and just the pure confusion and turning into jealous sex would be so amazing.

and you can go ahead and kys if you dont think i wont read a fic about them being casual to try to forget about kageyama and iwaizumi and FAILING HORRIBLY

also its fucking hilarious that ao3 has an official tag called Brazil Fling for this specific headcanon— amazing ill take 14 of them
