Hostess| Kyoya Ootori x reader
Part five - Sun and thunder
Pairing : Kyoya Ootori x reader
General rating : Fluff, enemies to love vibes
Word count : 4k
Summary: As only heir to your family you are bound to an arranged marriage with the third son of the powerful house Ootori. His cold behavior is only a mask for you to uncover when you stumble into music room number three.
Warning: Mention of blood and some bad volleyball description.
This other vacation day is an absolute bliss! No alligators, no chlorine filling your lungs, only the beautiful sun and a hot breeze. On the downside⊠Kyoya made sure that you had to share your vacations with your guests. This is why youâre in your most revealing bikini you had, you had to entertain your guest in some way and you still had to prove that you could be a better host than Kyoya.
You and Taishiro, one of your newest guests, were playing volleyball against Renge and another boy. Your team was clearly winning because of your past in this sport, five years of volleyball! You werenât the best, but you were certainly a really good player.
Renge passed the ball over the net and you threw yourself to send it back, but failed miserably. You dropped onto the sand and Taishiro rushed over to you. You had to play your part.
âIâm sorry Taishiro, I missed this one.â You sniffed and he grabbed your hands in his. âNo worries y/n! You did so great and itâs only one point, we can make it!â He smiled and so did you. You wrapped your arms around him. âThank you Taishiro! Youâre such a great guy! Isnât he, ladies?â You turned your head to meet with a crowd of girls fawning over the two of you. Taishiro wanted to be more desirable to the female gaze, so this is the part youâre playing. He is a sweet guy, really, you donât understand why he would need your help to get girls. He just needed a little boost of confidence, you thought.
You played your role so well that even Kyoya was looking at youâ staring at you. The cold death stare as you let your guest help you back on your feet. He gives a feather light kiss to your knuckle without breaking eye contact and you blush. I wink at him as his cue to go see his new groupies and he does just that. They welcome him with sweet words and you laugh on the inside.
That stupid plan did in fact work.
But now, youâre missing a player. You looked around to find a replacement and all of your friends were busy, but your male guests were free. âHi boys! Can one of you be a darling and play with me?â You wave at them, batting your eyelashes. One of the few boys stood up and dashed to you. âThank you Asahi, youâre so sweet to play with me.â âItâs my pleasure!â He smiles with all his teeth. Asahi was tall and had long luscious dark brown hair. Youâd say he was your type, you like tall pretty boys. âAre you any good at volleyball y/n?â He asks while putting his hair in a bun. âI was captain of my team when I was younger. What about you?â âI wasnât captain, but I was the ace of my team.â He smirks proudly. âI just hope I can keep up with you, my darling ace.â You wink at him and his entire face becomes red. âIâm taking a break ladies, great match.â Rengeâs partner smiles before leaving at once, now weâre back at missing a player all of the sudden. âIâll replace him.â The deep voice you recognize all too well is heard from behind you and as Kyoya walks past you, he makes sure he bumps into you. Where was he when you needed a teammate?
The referee waits until both teams are ready. Kyoya was your opponent, he was in front of you and he was tall. Youâd have to find a way to get through him to win. His gaze on you was intense, cold and determined.
âThey can start!â Asahi shouts at the referee. âWeâre going to win anyways.â He says to you in a low voice and you smirk. You will win.
For some reason, Renge became great at volleyball in an instant and caught you off guard when she served perfectly between you and Asahi. She was strong and fast⊠She too, played the game of the helpless girl to get the guyâs attention. Well played Renge, she even fooled you.
The refereeâs whistle echoes and the point is theirs. You look over to Asahi and nod, this wonât happen again.
Renge serves again and you stay focused on her face, where she will dare to look. She makes eye contact with you and smirks. Direct hit on you! The ball hits your chest hard and you gasp when it hits you.
âChance ball, Asahi!â You grunt and he doesnât let a second be wasted to send it the other way as hard as Renge did, harder even towards Kyoya. He sends it to his teammates and she sends it back to him higher. Another direct hit towards Asahi, this time, and he sends it to you with ease. You smash it right in front of Kyoya and he falls onto his knees trying to retrieve the ball, but fails as it rebounds on the sand.
âCanât keep up, clownfish?â You laugh.
âI can do this all day, goblin shark.â He spat and your blood boiled inside of you. He stands up and calls over Renge to talk about a quick strategy.
Asahi serves and you smirk as you see Renge struggling to focus on his next move. Asahi is unpredictable and that is to your advantage. The ball is up and when Renge figures the move of your teammate, itâs too late. Kyoya was on his toes and reacted before she could send it up in the air so she had enough time to send it back to your side of the court. It was all in slow motion just like in movies, Kyoyaâs eyes met yours and your heart skipped a beat. It was the tension his gaze exudes towards you, the thrill of the competition. The playful smirk upin his face told you that he was enjoying this too. For the first time, he looked like a normal boy of your age and you found him so beautiful. Itâs unfortunate he wasnât like this at all times. But no matter what, you wonât lose to him, ever.
This intense exchange goes on forever until you have had enough and hit it right next to Kyoyaâs head. The whistle blows and itâs your point. He doesnât move and for a second you think you mightâve traumatized the poor guy. But he laughs, truly laughs.
âYouâre trying to kill me?â Kyoya says while trying to keep his composure and you laugh too. You looked like two idiots, but you didnât care, it was the first time you were laughing with Kyoya. You wanted to cherish that moment a little while longer.Â
âYouâre in my way.â You finally say and he snorts as if he was saying âyeah rightâ. Asahi gives you a high five and Kyoyaâs jaw tense and his smile leaves his face once again.
The scores are equal and you wonât let yourself be beaten by Kyoyaâs arrogance. Youâre growing tired and your body doesnât want to keep up with what you have in mind. Your opponents can see that and they are playing at their advantage by making you run everywhere. Kyoya hits the volleyball right in front of you, almost out of reach, but you drop in the sand to hit the ball back to Asahi who spikes it directly behind Renge hitting the line made in the sand. Kyoya walks over to you with a smirks on his stupidly handsome face. You were fuming. He crouches next to you still on his side of the field and laughs.
âDonât be a sore loser, y/nâ The whistle is blown and you look over to the refereeâ itâs in! That's your point!
âCanât be a sore loser if Iâm winning.â You smirked at your turn and stood up to tower Kyoya. âGreat job Asahi!â You shout never leaving Kyoyaâs gaze. By his expression, he wanted to wipe that evil smirk stained on your face.
After your sweet victory, you were looking at the sunset with some of your female guests. You were all sitting on a towel youâd put down to enjoy the view. They were nice girls and talked to you about the boys they had a crush on and you listened to them. Youâd listen carefully to what they were looking for in a partner and youâd slide in the conversation offering advice. After all, even if they werenât your friends, youâd still have to be there for them as you are their host.Â
âLook at what we have here, one girl for each of us.â A deep masculine voice is heard behind you and your head snapped to see who it was. It wasnât anyone from your school that youâd seen around, they were local boys and the way they were slowly approaching you meant only trouble.Â
âLeave us alone, this is a private beach and youâre not one of our guests.â You warn the boys who are still  approaching you and your female guests. âI will gladly call the security and they wonât be as nice as I am if you do not leave.â You stood up and put yourself in front of the girls. One of them grabbed your arm and quickly let go of it.
âShe said leave them alone!â Haruhiâs voice is heard and it gives time to the girls to leave the rock you were now stuck on. The small brunette had an urchin in her hands ready to throw it.Â
âIs that your security?â One of them mocks. He grabs onto Haruhiâs shirt and drags her to the edge of the cliff.Â
âCome on! Stop messing with him.â You tried to yank the guy off of Haruhi, but instead he drops her in the ocean. You loudly gasp before running to the edge ready to jump after her.
âHaruhi!â Tamakiâs scream is heard as he dashes in the water after your friend before you could.
âLooks like itâs only the four of us now.â One of the boys grabs you by your waist and pulls you closer to him. Without thinking your elbow moves and hits him in the groin, hard. It gives you enough time to get away. You can see some security coming up the rock you were on and you felt relieved that the girls alerted someone of our group to call them. Your feet hit a small crevice and you fall down the rest of the way. It was a short fall, but nonetheless it hurts.Â
âY/n!â Honeyâs high pitched voice echoes in your ears and you see Kyoya dashing towards you before you can even see the small blonde.Â
âAre you alright?â He asks, cupping your cheeks in his hands and you nod. âAre you hurt?â
âI might have scratched my foot and knees.â You grunt.
âAnd elbows.â Honey pants. You look at your arms and blood is dripping down them. You guessed your fall was more severe than you thought.Â
âIâll bring her to the infirmary.â Mori simply says and picks you up as if you weigh nothing. Â
âTamakiâs in the water with Haruhi! Go look for them please.â You begged your friends.
They all ran towards the water as you and Mori left for the infirmary of the beach resort. You saw blood dripping down his chest going downwards and you were afraid it might stain his swim shorts.
âIâll ask my mother to make you a new pair of swim shorts, I bet you wonât want to go back swimming in them.â You tried your best to apologize and to squirm out of his grip so he wouldn't be covered in blood.
âDonât worry about it.â He speaks holding you tighter to his chest and you blush silently as he man handles you.
You finally found the infirmary and he sat you down on the office table. The nurse is probably on break because thereâs no one in this room and the tall man starts to look inside the drawers to get some rubbing alcohol and bandages.
He kneels in front of you and starts with your feet. He grazed the damaged skin with a cotton ball dipped in the rubbing alcohol. His touch is so gentle and yet you hold on to his shoulder to hold a hiss. He looks up and you can see that heâs worried he mightâve hurt you.
âIâm fine. Itâs not everyday I get injured.â You joked and he lightly smiled. He does the same for your knees and your elbows before wrapping every single one of your injuries with swift and gentle movements. âThanks Mori.â You smile at him and so does he. You kept silent when he was doing his âworkâ, but now you wanted to know. âWhy did you volunteer to carry me here and to patch my wounds yourself?â
âYouâre my friend. I have to take care of you, just like you would with me.â He softly speaks as he finishes to wrap up your elbow. Your heart melts, he was too sweet to you and deep inside your mind you wished a certain someone would be a little like Mori.Â
âYouâre a bit too heavy for me to carry around.â He chuckles at your joke. âBut thank you again, for the help.â It was that simple with him, no argument, no teasing⊠Just plain simple, you liked that.Â
âAnytime.â He stood up and towers over you even when youâre sitting on the nurseâs counter. His gaze never left yours and you couldnât look away from him. âItâs a shame.â He speaks and heâs surprised that these words came out of his own mouth.Â
âWhat is?â Your voice is only a whisper.
âThat Kyoya canât admit to himself that youâre pretty.âÂ
âYou think Iâm pretty?â Your surprise with his words.
âYou are.â He softly smiles.
âWaitâ What do you mean about Kyoya?â Oh my godâ Does he know?
âHe should tell you that youâre pretty. Youâre engaged.â He says it as if it was nothing. You were shocked.
âYou knew?â He nods. âHow?â You were frantic, but never raised your voice.Â
âMitsukuni and I looked you up before you came into our club. Since you didnât mention it, it wasnât our place to do so.â You forgot how powerful their families are! Why didnât you think about it before?!
âI guess it makes sense.â You hide your face in your hands.
âAre you unhappy with Kyoya?â He asks and you bring yourself to look him in his eyes.Â
âNoâ yes? I donât know.â You scoff and he pats your shoulder. âHeâs infuriating most of the time and gets on my nerves, but sometimes, heâs kind and he cares. He made it clear that our relationship will only be for business, no feelings attached.â You explain.
âBut what do you want?â
âLove, plain and boring love.â You laugh. âJust like my parents.âÂ
âYouâll find it, your old boring love.â He snorts.
âSo will you Mori.â You smile.
Dinner was⊠something.
You sat next to Tamaki and you could smell the smoke coming from the blondeâs perfect ears. You guessed something had happened between him and his protĂ©gĂ©. Because during this entire time Haruhi has been eating lobster like she hasnât eaten in days while ignoring Tamaki who was scolding her. Haruhi was having none of it.
âIf I wasnât there to do something, y/n and the other girls wouldâve been in so much more trouble!â
âYou were being careless!â
âNowâs the time I excuse myself.â Kyoya pushes back his fancy chair and exits the room rather quickly.
âCan we enjoy a dinner together without yelling, please?â You practically begged the two idiots yelling at one another. They werenât listening to you, it seems none of your other friends were listening to you as well. Honey quickly gave you a shrug that meant âat least you triedâ before ravaging his plate with more lobster.Â
âI hate you!â As soon as the words leave the girl's mouth, Tamaki goes silent and turns back to face his plate. He is pale as if he saw a ghost. Haruhi storms out the dining room and you were hoping that her beloved prince would try to catch up to her, but he stayed silent as she ran away. Oh TamakiâŠ
The otherâs finished their meal and went somewhere in the manor while you stayed with oh so silent Tamaki Suho.
âYou donât have to stay with me.â He is sulking, again, and it makes you sad. Tamaki is supposed to be the cheering type of guy who always puts a smile on peopleâs faces. It didnât sit right with you to just leave him alone.
âI think you might need a friend for a âtalkâ or a hug. Both are at your disposal.â You tried to make a joke, but failed miserably as no familiar smile crept on his lips. âWhat happened with Haruihi?â
âI told her that going after those boys was reckless and that she wasnât thinking when she tried to be the hero. Sheâs too fragile! I donât want anything to happen to her.â He almost raised his voice out of anger, but kept quiet.
âHaruhi is a lot tougher than you want to admit yourself.â You start and he sighs. âIâm not saying that you donât have the right to be angry, you do. But she did save our guests' life, god knows what these boys wouldâve done.â
âWhat about you?â He simply says finally looking you in your eyes. âYou were left alone with them.â
âI gave the guy a hit he will not forget I think.â You chuckle. âIâm no fighter, Tamaki, but Iâm not weak. I would do anything in my power to protect my friends or anyone in need. Haruhi did that to try and save me too.â You add. âIt was reckless, but you have to understand that she wouldnât have stayed there and done nothing. Sheâs stubborn and reckless, but thatâs our Haruhi.â
âShe couldâve tried to find me beforehand.â
âTamaki⊠Youâre trying to act like a father figure to herâ hell you call yourself her daddy! But she already has a dad and she needs a friend. Youâre acting like someone you think you have to be to get close to her, but youâre not bad when youâre yourself, Tamaki. I think youâre a great guy and I think Haruhi would love that guy too.âÂ
âBut she said she hates me.â
âI wouldâve said that to you too if you were yelling at me while Iâm eating.â You snort and so does he. There he is. âI think you should apologize to her or at least talk about it without yelling.â His soft smile indicates that he understands what you're saying and you gently pat him on the back.Â
âYou mean that? Do you think Iâm a great guy?â The purple tint in his eyes felt like it regained joy and you were proud of yourself to be able to cheer him up.
âThe day I tell you otherwise is the day pigs will have wings.â He chuckles.
âThank you.â You give him a quick nudge on his side.Â
âWalk me to my room? A certain someoneâs room is next to mine.â He nods and you both exited the dining room.
You keep rambling on about the lobster and how great it tasted, but realize that he stopped following you. You look back and heâs in complete shock in front of Kyoyaâs open bedroom door. You rush towards him to see whatâs got him so confused. You were perplexed as to why your fiancĂ© and Haruhi were sitting next to each other on his bed. Kyoya wasnât wearing a shirt⊠The tension between the four of you felt tense. Haruhi, as she meets your gaze, blushes looking away quickly shyly. It wasnât like her to be like this. Did he tell her? Did they do something they shouldnât have done?
âAre you all right?â Tamaki asks Haruhi, walking closer to her.
âIâm fââ Kyoya starts.Â
âHe was speaking to Haruhi.â Your words were sharper than a knife. Thunder raged outside as if youâd made it appear with your feelings. How dare he judge you for a televised kiss? But heâs half naked with Haruhi. The rage that you exude from your body was a clear warning for Kyoya to not speak until you ask him to. Tamaki shivers from this side of you and yells at Kyoya how he is not being a gentleman with his girl. Kyoyaâs shocked gaze never left yours as he was being scolded by Tamaki. Your jaw clenched as tears welled up your eyes. You were so angry! Angry that Kyoya canât keep it in his pants. Angry that he wanted Haruhi over his own fiancĂ©. Angry that he lied and broke his promise to you! You turned around and rushed to your room hoping Kyoya would not come after you.
âY/nââKyoya grabs your wrist to spin you around, but you yank off your arm from his grip. He was so fast and so stealthy you didnât even hear him follow you.
âDonât touch me!â The tears in your eyes finally slipped. âYouâre an absolute asshole! You judged me for kissing Kaoru in a film, but you were probably going to do far worse with Haruhi. You asked for faithfulness and you canât keep your word. I hate you Kyoya! I hateââ Your face hit his warm, strong chest while one of his hands is gently stroking the back of your head and the other one around your waist, holding you so close and so tight to him.
âPlease donât cry.â He whispers while tilting his head so his cheek wasnât resting on your head anymore, it was his lips. âDonât cry because of me, I didnât  break my promise to you y/n.â The soft skin of his lips made your entire being burn. Was it his heartbeat or your own who was pounding in your ears? âI was changing and she thought it was her room. We just talked about how reckless she was being today.â
âIt sounds ridiculous.â You scoff.Â
âI knowâŠâ He sighs. âI swear on Tamakiâs head I didnât do anything or tried anything.â
âYou donât like Tamaki very much.â A soft giggle escapes your lips as you sniff.
âI do in a very special way, but I swear it on yours then.â He chuckles.
âYou donât like me Kyoya.â You roll your eyes.
âMore than you make yourself believe.â He whispers. You try to look up, but Kyoya only holds you tighter as if he was ashamed of what he had just said to you. What did he mean by that? Does he want to try? He probably said it to tease you again or to make you stop crying like a baby.
âYou donât have to pretend to care, Kyoya. No one is watching us.â Disgust was shown on your face, but your fiancĂ© couldnât see it.
âI know.â He keeps stroking your hair as if he was the one who needed it now. He needed comfort just as much as you did. You finally tighten your grip on him and melt into his body as if it was made for you.
After a while you both let go of each other and bid the other one good night and walked to your respective rooms. You finally rested your head on the silk pillowcase, but couldnât manage to be a little bit tired. After your intense day, week even, you couldnât even find sleep. You could only think about that stupid dinner date with your in-laws and what happened to day. What happened with Kyoya⊠The intimacy you shared with him. You needed to talk to him.
You pulled out your phone and tossed and turned in your bed trying to find the courage to call or text him, until your text tone went off. You quickly check your phone and your heart skipped a beat.
âDo you want to go walk around the estate?â - Kyoya

Hostess| Kyoya Ootori x reader
Part four - We lost Honey!
Pairing : Kyoya Ootori x reader
General rating : Fluff, enemies to love vibes
Word count : 2k
Summary: As only heir to your family you are bound to an arranged marriage with the third son of the powerful house Ootori. His cold behavior is only a mask for you to uncover when you stumble into music room number three.
Hello everyone! Thank you so so much for being a part of this story with me, you are amazing! I only received love and support from you guys and I really appreciate it. Part five will be posted later today and again, thank you for being so patient with me.
You didnât plan anything on your Saturday evening, you were going to do some homework as well as play some cello. Tamaki decided otherwise⊠Haruhi wanted to spend some time together as a team and so Tamaki decided it would be great to have some vacation at the Ootori water park⊠Kyoya told you it was a resort for wellness, but you just thought it was a lame excuse to build a waterpark.Â
And there you were, in a bikini, reading a book on a lounge chair. Technically you were not disappointed with the place, itâs spacious and very modern, they even have imported trees from around the continents to make the ambiance more tropical. It feels like youâre in a real jungle. Kyoya mentioned a zoo as a part of the resort, youâll have to visit it before you leave.Â
Speaking of the devil, you havenât talked about that kiss last night. It was rushed, passionless and somewhat boring, but you did it for him. You couldnât bring yourself to explain your action to him or why you did it, youâre not sure of how you could bring it up.
Haruhi, sitting next to you, asked questions about your book, which you gladly answered.Â
âSo hear me out! Iâm this magical world, you have humans and faes which are kind of badass for most of them and then thereâs this one human girl who slowly falls in love with one of the Lords of the fae realmââ You kept rambling about your book as if it was a personal friend of you who experienced the entirety of the bookâs plot. When you were done she smiled at you.
âWould you mind if I borrow it when youâre done with it?â She asks and you nod. It was a copy that youâve read so many times that the spine cracked and showed white creases. If she damaged it, it wouldnât bother you as much as if it was a pristine copy.Â
Splash!Â
The water was cold on your legs and you yanked your book away. âCome play with us y/n!â Honey and the twins shouted for you to come over, but you were fine where you were.Â
âWater parks arenât my thing.â You tell them honestly. Hikaru rolls his eyes and, he and his brother, splashes you one more time resulting in your upper half of your body to get wet, including the bookâŠ
They splashed your book? White creases and tears in your books were fine⊠But drenched in pool water, it was unacceptable! When you looked back at them with death behind your eyes, they shivered in fear.Â
âYou bastards!â You shout throwing the book at them and proceed to jump in the water to fight them. You climb onto Hikaruâs back and make him fall backwards with you. Up to Kaoru⊠you grab him by the wrist before he swims away and yank him underwater with you. As you both three are dragged by Mori above the surface you shout once more. âYou two owe me a new copy!â
âI didnât know goblin sharks were part of the resort now.â Kyoya snorts behind you.Â
âWho are you calling goblin shark you stupid clown fish?!â You grab the collar of his shirt and yank him in the water with you.Â
âYouâ!â He yells before slashing everyone in the pool. Thatâll teach him not to call you a goblin shark!
He gasps for air when his head is above water and gives you the death glare and you canât help but laugh. Heâll make you pay for it, that is certain! Surprisingly he snorts and pats your head lightly before he pushes it harder so you go underwater once again. When you come back to the surface all of the boys except Honey left the pool, which was your cue to do the same as the others.
âStop!â Haruhi comes running with a towel and almost shoves you back in the pool. She quickly wraps it around you, she was panting and now everyone was looking at the both of you. âYouâ Umâ You lost your.â She trails off and you look down your chest and notices that your bikini top wasnât where itâs supposed to be anymore. You turn to Honey and his face is bright red as he holds your bikini in his hands. Oh shit!Â
âIâm sorry!â Honey almost cries as he tries to swim back to shore to give you back whatâs yours, but a big whirring sound is suddenly heard and the water slowly starts moving in the direction of the jungle dragging the blonde boy with the current. In which, the current of the water was now faster.Â
âForget about the bikini! Swim Mitsukuni!â You yell over the sound of the water splashing everywhere, but itâs too late⊠Heâs gone. âKyoya, do something!â You almost begged. You didnât even know how big this place is and where he mightâve gone.Â
As he opens his mouth a hissing sound is heard and you pray to god that it was an angry cat. You snap your neck to the side and you see a couple ofâ
Alligators.
Out of all the animals in the world⊠Why did it have to be alligators?
Mori grabs both of yours and Haruhiâs arm and yanks you in a gazebo away from the deadly animals.
You had to turn your back two seconds before Mori and Haruhi left the gazebo as if they were veterans ready to take on those alligators and whatever lies in that jungle. You wanted to bang your head against the wall for the lack of bravery you had and that you wished Mori and Haruhi had! Because you knew they were after the small blonde, they were going to rescue him.
But you, you were all over the place. You were pacing around the place mumbling to yourself and giving death glares at Kyoya. Finally you snapped at him.
âSo you didnât plan to tell us about the new âpetting zooâ?â
âI told you when we arrived, but you didnât listen.â He brushes you off and picks out his phone to dial a number.
âYou forgot about the âalligatorâ part of that zoo.â You slowly turned toward your fiancĂ© and pursed your lips. âBecause thatâs a big deal, isn't it?â
âI said that I already told you.â He grunts.
âYou also said it was safe for us, Kyoya.â Your voice grew loud, loud enough for the twins and Tamaki to go on their merry way far away on the gazeboâs pathway to another part of the resort.
âYouâre still in shock, would you please calm down? Weâre safe here.â You can see his eyes roll and you scoff at his demeanor.
âWe lost Mori, Haruhi and Honey! I know this is a stupid waterpark, but there are alligators on the loose thanks to you stupid security system our friends are in danger!â Our friends⊠Your friends. Were they friends now? Yes they were. You wouldnât have made a whole fuss about their disappearance if you didnât care for them.
âMy stupid security team? How about you try to calm downâ where are you going?â You were already leaving the gazebo to join Haruhi and Mori in the deep jungle. Sitting here arguing with four eyes over there wouldnât help you. You could outrun a few reptiles⊠right?Â
âIâm going to find my friends!â You shout back.
âIâm calling security, just stay here.â His tone was angry, was he angry with you?
âIâm going whether you like it or not!â You were confident you would be able to get through the pool area like Haruhi did before you and not get lost in this huge place. His strong hand grips your wrist to stop you and almost yanks you backwards. You turned your head to face him and he was as pissed as you were.
âI said to wait for backup, they will retrieve our friends.â He was so close. Both of your gazes were challenging the other to see who would give in first and to your surprise, you said quietly giving into his command. âOkay.â Then you regained consciousness and snapped out of his hold on you. âThatâs no way to treat a lady!â You punched his arm and he rolled his eyes.Â
âWhat do you know about being a lady?â He finally snorted and your blood boiled a little.
âMore than you, thatâs for sure!â You truly wanted to feed him to the carnivores down the long stairs of this hellish gazebo.
âJust stay here.â He says calmly. âIâll deal with it, weâll find our friends and weâll go home.â He promised. Kindness sparkles in his eyes and you smile which leaves him confused. âWhat?â He simply asks.
You wanted to tell him that his kind words soothed you and made you trust him in his ability to find your friends, but all that came out of your mouth was : âYou truly look like a clownfish from up close.â He snorts and brushes the top of your head.Â
âIdiot.â He whispers.
You finally decide to join the twins and the prince of the Host Club far away from that idiot of a fiancĂ© of yours and notice Kaoru sitting all alone on a bench near the ledge of the wooden bridge you were walking on. It feels odd to see him without his brother, but itâs the opportunity you need. You need to talk to f with either Hikaru or with a guest.him about the kiss now or else heâll try to evade your question and run off.
âKaoru?â Your voice is almost a whisper as you reach for him slowly sitting by his side at a respectable distance.
âThe one and only.â You could hear the grin in his tone, but he never turned to face you, he only faced the vast space in front of the both of you.Â
âYou canât keep avoiding me forever. Friends tell each other things, but you keep avoiding my questions when I try to speak with you.â
âWeâre not friends, you and I.â These words hurt you deeply.Â
âRightâŠâ You bite the inner walls of your cheeks because he had you speechless. You were about to confess how you felt about him not wanting to explain himself, but what he said struck you like lightning. He was right, just because you got along didnât mean you were friends. âBut why did you make a scene by confessing your profound love to me, kissing me and then asking me if Kyoya was watching?â You sounded desperate for an answer. He sighs and finally turns to face you.Â
âI suspected that you two were engaged, I just wanted to confirm my theory. No one likes when whatâs theirs is with another guy.âÂ
âAre you saying that you wanted to see Kyoya jealous over you?â
âSort of. Itâs not every day you get a chance to.â He snorts loudly.
âYou didnât think I had a say before you tried your theory?â In your mind you were livid, but you kept your composure.Â
âMy apologies, but if I had asked you wouldâve probably denied it because Iâve heard something going like : â we should pretend to be bachelor and bachelorette.â Itâs not like you tried to hide it at first.â He chuckles. âYou were drooling when you first saw him at the club.â He thought he knew everything about the two of you, but he was in the gray area between the truth and his delusion. He thought you were head over heels for Kyoya since the first time you saw him at school, but he was wrong⊠You were just surprised.Â
âYou wish.â You chuckle. âLook, I want us to be friends, Kaoru. I like you and your brotherâ not in that wayâ but I really enjoy your company. If one day youâd want to be my friend, Iâd be glad, but in the meantime⊠Do you want to wait for rescue with me?â He looked around as if waiting for you was a crime and smiled at you, truly.
âSure.â
You both stayed there in a comfortable silence. You saw three trucks filled with armed guards head inside of the jungle. This felt like a James Bond rescue movie, except that you were the random civilian that was on the side⊠Which you were glad about! Thanks to Kyoyaâs persistence, otherwise you wouldâve left your safe spot to go into uncharted territory.Â
You were so out of it that you hadnât realized that Tamaki was calling out your name with a hand on your shoulder and Kaoru left the bench you were sitting on.Â
âI tried to find spare clothes for you everywhere, but since weâre the first ones to be in this place, thereâs nothing.â Tamaki sighs. You didnât even know he disappeared to help you out. âI shouldâve brought more clothes so if anything like this happened, I wouldâve been prepared to help you out.â Your heart melted at Tamakiâs words and you stood up from your seat to wrap your arms around him. He quickly grabbed onto your towel which was slowly getting loose and hugged you tighter. âCareful!â He gasps as you bury your face in his chest hiding the tears falling down your cheeks.
Tamaki clearly noticed your sadness and gently brushed your hair as you cried silently. This has been too much. This whole thing with Kaoru, the kiss with Kyoya, the Ootori family in its entirety, losing three people who you care about⊠It was too much to keep inside and you finally let go. Tamakiâs kindness definitely helped to let it all go and it felt so good. It felt so good to have someone, a friend who looked after you even when you didnât ask for help, that you definitely needed. Tamaki Suoh is really a prince even when weâre not acting at the Host Club.
âThank you.â You whisper and he chuckles.
âYouâre welcome.â He smiles.
âMay I speak with y/n?â Kyoyaâs deep voice is heard from behind and you quickly wipe your tears away as Tamaki does a check up on you. You nod and he walks away from you and your financĂ©. âAre you okay?âÂ
âYes, Iâm fine.â You answer truthfully and he smiles. âAbout KaoruââÂ
âHe knows that weâre engaged.â He says at the same time as you.
âHe knowsâ What do you mean âI knowâ?â You gasp.
âHe told me a week ago.â Heâs being nonchalant with that information.
âAnd you didnât plan on telling me?â You wanted to punch him so badly.
âItâs way too funny to see you fluster when you try to talk to him and he just ignores you.â
âNow youâre just mean.â You cross your arms and pursed your lips in annoyance.Â
âMy apologies.â He smiles. âWhile weâre on the subject, about the dinner dateââ
âOh my god! They are safe!â You yell and almost jumped over the ledge as you saw Honeyâs blond hair shining through the green leaves. Heâs followed by Mori and Haruhi! He waves at you with your bikini still in hands and your face drops. You wished he hadnât kept it, now this is just embarrassing.Â
You grab Kyoyaâs hand and rush over to them not caring about his question he was going to ask you.
At the end of the day you all went home safe and worn out from your dangerous vacation. As you dropped on your bed, one of the house maids knocked on your door and you let her in. She was holding a medium size box which she handed to you before leaving. You read the note attached to it and laugh, it read : âAn apology from the Hitachiin twins and the Ootori family. -Yours truly, Kyoyaâ Your heart couldnât help but beat faster at the way the note ended with âyours, trulyâ. You had to remind yourself that he doesnât want a romantic relationship whatsoever, he was just being polite. You open the box and your cheeks warm up instantly. It was a special edition of the book you lost to pool water earlier, signed by the author...
It was hard to try to not like Kyoya at that moment.Â

Hostess| Kyoya Ootori x reader
Part three - The dinner date
Pairing : Kyoya Ootori x reader
General rating : Fluff, enemies to love vibes
Word count : 3K
Summary: As only heir to your family you are bound to an arranged marriage with the third son of the powerful house Ootori. His cold behavior is only a mask for you to uncover when you stumble into music room number three.
Hi! Iâm just taking a short break from posting for a week or two just because my finals are right around the corner and I obviously have to take care of that first and secure that diploma! So I hope you enjoy this chapter and Iâll see you in a week or two, Iâll keep you updated!
After a long day at school, the last thing you want to do is go to a dinner party with your family in law. You would rather be practicing cello or read than to have some small talk with them. Your mother sent you clothes from her new collection and you were in awe. She made you a custom set with your favorite color: a blazer and high waist fitted palazzo pants made from the most comfortable fabric with a beige sweetheart corset top. The outfit was accompanied by pearl earrings and a pearl necklace that you got from a trip in America a few years ago. You bother to put some makeup on, not too much, but just enough to please your in-laws. You grabbed your best pair of heels to finish your outfit before you head to the living room where your father was probably waiting for you.
He looked as if he was just hit in the guts when he finally looked up from his phone. You politely smiled at your father not wanting to speak with him and turned to head to the front door.
âCan we please talk, my sweetie?â He speaks and you oblige to his demand by walking back and facing him.Â
âDad⊠Whatâs done is done, I donât want to talk about it.â
âI do. Especially if you hate me for it.â Heâs hurt by how you ignored him the past two weeks and you canât help but feel bad as well. You never had a bad relationship with your parents, they were understanding and they were kind and helpful, but since the engagement announcement you shut them out. Both of them. âIâm sorry. We shouldâve waited until you were ready. The Ootoriâs are a respectable people and their third son seemed to be a perfect fit for you. Kyoyaâs father told me only good things that you would love about him.â Well he was wrong. Heâs an uptight asshole, that son of theirs. âYou had many other suitors, which I never spoke to you or your mother about, but I truly believe the one who could deserve my dear daughter would be him.â
âWhat if youâre wrong? What if he never deserves me.â Your question was distant. You meant it more as if you would never be in love like your father and mother. âWhat if this arrangement makes me more miserable?âÂ
âThen make him see how spiteful you are, you are my daughter and you are proud and strong.â He starts and you chuckle. âIf Kyoya Ootori doesnât see this beautiful intelligent young woman, then heâs a fool and he will regret ever messing with you.â He too chuckles. âHis father and I made the arrangement for a business marriage, itâs up to you how you want to have this relationship. You could try and make it bearable, even fall in love with him in the end, or you can make it horrible and never speak to him.â That confirms that you are stuck in this relationship, but heâs right. There is no legal contract on how you have to behave with Kyoya, maybe this is why heâs being improper when his father isnât around. Then letâs have some fun. If Kyoya wants to be this heartless asshole, you can play too. After all, this engagement game takes two to play.Â
The Ootori house was not to your liking. It was way too big and too bland for you to actually appreciate. It reflected on their cold personality you thought. Your house in Japan was a proper one with a rather big size as well, but it was filled with souvenirs from travels and some touches of your family and yours. Photos, paintings, stupid decorations your mother couldnât take her eyes off of. Your house did feel like home, it felt warm, welcoming and safe. The Ootoriâs estate felt more like a hospital than a home. You wonder if Kyoya felt this way as well.Â
Your entrance to the estate was the same as the last time, the maid announced your arrival and let you enter inside and as usual, she would make you wait in the living room for your hosts to come and join you.Â
âMy dear friend!â Kyoyaâs father, Yoshio Ootori, entered the place and everything went cold. His appearance, his tone⊠An untamable creature. He turns towards you to shake your hand which you do gladly.
âItâs always a pleasure to see you, sir.â You tried to warm him up with your smiles and polite flattery, but nothing ever worked.
âAs well.â He doesnât even lift a corner of his lips to smile. âKyoyaâs waiting for you in the garden, Iâve set up a meeting before dinner.â He continues. âOur maid will guide you to the garden while your father and I attend to business.â You nod and the maid asks you to follow her as if sheâs been summoned. Youâve learned her name by the time you meet her a second time. It was Rose. Rose was from Europe and a distant relative to Yoshioâs wife.
She opened the door of the veranda for you to enter and you were mesmerized. It was beautiful! The garden was unique and filled with diverse plants and flowers with the colors of the rainbow. A straight concrete path led you to a gazebo where Kyoya was waiting, waiting for you it seems.
You kept looking around not knowing how to take such beauties. The garden seemed larger than their home and more lively than its occupants.
âIf I wouldâve known this part of your home existed I wouldâve asked my father for more visits.â You half joke which earned a chuckle from Kyoya.Â
âIâm glad you enjoy it.â Was all he said, but his tone wasnât as cold as the last time youâve spoken to him a week ago.Â
For a whole week, youâve been denied and ignored by him any time you tried to approach him. He wouldnât so much as speak with you during the Host Clubâs meeting or to glance back at you during the classes you have together. It was as if you didnât exist to him. It was as if he didnât want you to exist.
âSo now you want to talk to me?â You finally made it to the gazebo without being too close to him. You never met his gaze, you were way too busy to look around and discover new plants. Your eyes finally caught your interest and you walked past him as you made your way to a peculiar bush. âLavender roses.â Your voice was soft as the petals you carefully stroke.
âIâm sorry if I was rather harsh with you the other day.â He simply says. He followed you to the nearby plant. âIt wasnât very proper of me.â
âAre you apologizing on your behalf or on your fatherâs?â You ask, finally looking up to his piercing gaze that fell upon you.
âA little bit of both.â Right. Itâs Kyoya after all.Â
âWell, I donât accept your apology. You were rude and unfair to me. I was kissed by Kaoru and you treated me as a common whore who would go to bed with anyone.â He looks down to you with a smug smirk on his lips and you return to look at the pretty flowers. âSo your apology you can stick it up your pretentious ass.â He laughs. A real laugh. It sounds so true and melodious, you could listen to it all day long. You canât help, but snort at his reaction. âDoes me being bothered make you laugh?â
âA bit, yes.â He manages to say. âI didnât know such cruel insults could come out of your mouth. Itâs almost adorable.â He finally relaxes and stops laughing, which you didnât want to stop. Your cheeks heat up at the way he said adorable, you adorable? It was a decent compliment coming from him. âYou are not a threatening person.â
âYou havenât seen a threat from me yet Kyoya.â You snort.Â
âI forgive you for being kissed by Kaoru. If you wondered.â He adds.
âAs if I had anything to do with that.â You mumbled under your breath. Kaoru has been extremely distant when you tried to ask him about his suspicions. It felt like everyone was keeping secrets from you. âI never apologized for that.â You continue. âWhat do we do from now on?âÂ
âI am yours and you are mine, soon legally, and it wouldnât be proper for one of us to be intimate with anyone else. The relationship stays between us and we do not see anyone else.â
âSo what now? Youâre my boyfriend?â
âHardly. I wish not to force you into being in love with me, but all I ask is faithfulness.â Talk about faithfulness, youâre both courting ladies and boys at your school.
âDonât worry, no oneâs caught my eye but you my sweet Kyoya.â You tried your best to mimic Renge and he chuckles. âBut in all honesty, do you really want this to work?â
âI hope not.â Clearly. âI do not despise you, although you are way too cocky to my liking.â He snorts, finally coming closer to watch the flowers as you do. âI do not want this alliance as much as you do, but it is my duty as the last son to marry and bring prosperity to my family this way.â It's as if he finally opened up a door, a small opening, but itâs there. Should you confess your feelings to this arrangement too? You could make it work⊠Maybe? If he would open up to you every chance he gets this could be a fine marriage, maybe not filled with love, but with agreements. The plan you made to make his life a living hell didnât seem to want to stick. Yes he can be a heartless asshole, but you didnât feel like picking a fight with him. Not tonight.Â
âI do not despise you either, true I do not like your attitude towards me, but I donât hate you.â Your response was honest and warm. âMy father told me that itâs up to us for the dynamic of this engagement, do you think we could try to be friends? At the very least? I know you haven't liked me very much since the first day at school, but can we start over and try?â You suggest.Â
âI donât think I can start over.â He admits and you look away. You let out a low sigh before turning around and walking away. Dinner would be soon anyway. âI wonât ignore you at school if thatâs what you were asking.â He simply adds and you can feel the warmth in his tone a few moments ago getting colder.Â
âNo. No it was not, but I appreciate the gesture.â You never looked back and went inside to meet with the rest of the Ootori family and your father.Â
If you were his and he was yours, why did it feel like you werenât. Like you couldnât love him, like he couldnât love you. Or even want to try⊠You wanted to try, life wouldnât be so miserable if youâd both liked each other a bit, but itâs not â He does not want you that way and you have to move on and be mature about this! Be the bigger person! Be the one Kyoya crawls to, not the other way around. All he wants is faithfulness, understandable, but if this is the only thing that can get him riled up and to have this small openness about his feelings, his thoughts, you may flirt harder with your next guest. Itâs a stupid plan, probably the worst one youâve ever had in your entire life, but you were willing to do anything to get real emotions out of him instead of his cold, jerk self of a character.Â
The conversations were boring as expected. You father and Kyoyaâs were talking about their arrangements and you were eating this delicious food lost in your own thoughts. You were thinking about the boy sitting across from you, you couldnât get him off your mind. âI do not despise youâ were his words. Then why does he make it so hard for you to at least become friends? You truly didnât hate him and you didnât love him either, he doesnât do or say anything to make him likable. You wonder why he is so popular in the Host Club, he clearly isnât acting like a jerk with his guests, thatâs for sure. But why canât he at least give a quarter of that kindness to his future bride? Was that too much to ask?
Kyoya and you. You and Kyoya. What a pair! Â
âThese two are such a pair.â Yoshida smiles proudly. âHow many grandchildren are you expecting, my friend?â You and your father almost spit both of your drinks into your plates. What!?
âI â Uh⊠I think three would be lovely, but itâs only if my daughter wishes to have some.â Good save, dad.
âIf Kyoya can produce as many heirs as he can, my wife would love a lot of grandchildren, I for the fact would also agree with three.â This is making you uncomfortable, the last bit of respect you had for his father is slowly fading away as he speaks about children as objects, almost. âWhen you are both married after college, I hope you get a chance to produce heirs as fast as possible. They will obviously share both of our last namesâŠâ You hated that word âproduceâ. It was bitter and a terrifying word that would haunt you. You didnât think about children, for Christ sakes, youâre in High School. The lovely dinner doesnât taste as good anymore and you can feel your stomach aching.Â
âIt seems my fiancĂ© is uncomfortable with the subject, could we talk about this after we get married, please?â Kyoyaâs voice echoes in the dining room, cutting his father off. All eyes were on Kyoya who stood proud then back at you. The colors of your face drained and Kyoyaâs father didnât even seem regretful.
âMy apologies.â He speaks as if it was as bitter as the word âproduceâ.Â
âI think I need to freshen up a bit, Rose.â You call her and she rushes over to you. âWould you be so kind and show me the bathroom, please?â You tried not to shake as you stood up. All your confidence was gone in an instant. Kyoya stands up and walks over to you.Â
âDo not trouble yourself, Rose. I will take care of her.â He smiles at his maid as he gently takes your trembling hand in his and walks you away from the dining room.
Tears are filling your eyes quickly and a lump in your throat is forming, breathing becomes hard and you look away from Kyoya. Youâre embarrassed⊠Youâve embarrassed yourself and your father in front of your in-laws. A shame to your family, Kyoyaâs father would either mutter or shout it to your face. Kyoya gestures to a door and you rush inside and lock it. Your back hits the door and you slowly slide down until you sit on the floor. Tears were finally coming out, but you couldnât let him know. Breathing was harder, especially since you tried to contain your sobbing. Fucking kids!? Youâre a young lady, a teenager for Christ sakes! You didnât want this! You didnât want to rush things! After college you will be in your early twenties, you have to live a bit before you even think about kidsâŠ
âDo you want me to stay outside?â Kyoyaâs soft voice is heard behind you, behind the tall white door. âOr do you want me to come inside?â You were hesitant. You think you needed comfort, but not from him.
âOutside.â You choke on your word.Â
âIf that makes you feel better, I think itâs a stupid idea as well.â He lightly chuckles. âI think Iâd rather kiss Kaoru myself before I have children with a woman I barely know.â You laugh through your sob. Youâd kiss Renge before youâd have babies with him. âDo you want me to get you anything?â He asks and you take a couple of seconds before you scoot over a bit and open up the door, just a little. Your mother used to hold your hand whenever you were scared, stressed or you just needed comfort after a long day. You needed this, but you were embarrassed to ask, but you need the touch to be reassuredâŠ
âDonât ask why, but can you hold my hand? Please?â You slip your hand in the door opening and you can hear a faint chuckle before a warm hand gently grasp yours. You take a deep breath and try to calm yourself. He probably heard you because his thumb is caressing the top of your hand. Heâs drawing slow circles, his soft skin felt so right against yours. âIs that a part of the Ootori medical business?â You sniff in an attempt to hear him laugh again, but he snorts.Â
âOnly for the desperate cases.â Low blow, but you laugh, truly laugh. âItâs mostly the oneâs crying in bathrooms.âÂ
âYouâre so funny.â Your tone was meant to be playful, but cold. He continues his gestures until you pull away and open the door fully to meet his gaze. He stands up and towers you once again. He tilts his head and smirks, whatâs up with him? âFalling in love with me, yet?â You joke and he scoffs.Â
âGo check yourself before you return to the table, I donât want my fiancĂ© to look like a ghost.â He chuckles and leaves you in the doorway speechless. What an asshole!
Youâve done your best to wipe the mascara from your eyes and returned safely to the table. From the sad look on your fatherâs face, he probably knew what was going on in your mind. Kyoyaâs older brother, the second son, was cackling under his breath as if you were a joke. From what information your fatherâs assistant gathered, Akito was married to an elite Japanese actress and was a terrible lover, an unhappy marriage. Kyoyaâs sister and his eldest brother who couldnât attend dinner had successful marriages and careers. To Akito, you were not a girl, you were an asset incapable of feelings just like his poor wife.Â
âKyoya told us that youâve grown fond of one another already.â Akito speaks with a chuckle as if Kyoya couldnât have someone who truly loves him. You will play along, you hate petty siblings. Besides, you wonât embarrass Kyoya in front of his family, you will not go that low.Â
âWe do!â You giggle. âKyoya has been nothing, but kind to me and I canât help but enjoy his company.â You continued on. Lies and lies.Â
âItâs odd thinking about it. My baby brother has a girlfriend, sheâs beautiful even when she cries and looks smart and sheâs dating my failure of a brother⊠How could a match like yours work?â Mrs. Ootori slaps his sonâs shoulder and you wanted to do it as well. How dare he?Â
âHearing you speak makes me believe that youâre jealous of your brother to have a diamond like me as his bride.â Your expression was nothing but a facade. Annoyance was all you wanted to express, but you couldnât, wouldnât. âBut I am the lucky one in this relationship, he is perfect. Heâs all I could ever dream of, even if heâs distant at times and a bit heartless, but no one is perfect. He could say the same thing about me I think⊠Iâve made a fool of myself more times than I can count in the past two weeks.â You confess. âWhat about you Akito? Could you say the same thing about your wife?â You wiped off the smug smile on his face, he was worse than Kyoya and you thanked the gods that you werenât marrying him. You look over to the teenager in front of you and he smirks proudly at how you answered. What a pair the two of you are making now.Â
The night is coming to an end and youâve politely said goodbye to each and every family member, even Akito who couldnât stand you after your earlier comment. Your father left to prep the car and Mrs. Ootori grabbed you by the arm, pulling you aside from the doorframe.Â
âIâm sorry for my husbandâs comments earlier, heâs a bit relentless about this matter. Your future with our son. Do not feel intimidated or pressured, you are your own person after all.â She smiles at you and so do you. You felt more comfortable in these few seconds than youâve been all evening. Sheâs the liveliest person in this house and they really need her. You thank her and you can see behind her Akito give you an evil smile.Â
âNot even a kiss goodnight?â He simply says. Kiss goodnight? What is this, the 60âs? Your ruse earlier wasnât convincing enough for him or was it payback⊠Maybe both. His motherâs face lit up and she pulled away to let Kyoya take her place in front of you.
âMy father is waiting in the car, I should really go.â You tried not to sound awkward about it. Before you could find another excuse, Kyoya's soft hands reached yours and slid up to cradle your face. His eyes behind his glasses sparkled and he gazed at you⊠All of you. Your heart skipped a beat, whatâs gotten into him?
âGoodnight my darling.â Kyoya lips meet the top of your head and smile fondly at you. âDonât get your hopes up.â He whispers under his breath. You looked over and Akito wasnât fazed by his brotherâs performance. Screw it!Â
âDonât get yours up.â You gently grab his collar and pull him down towards you so you can kiss his lips. Itâs soft, fast and passionless. A pointless kiss, but you smiled warmly at him. He stared at you in utter shock. You wanted to laugh at how silly he looked, but you contained yourself. His new facial expression is now your favorite. The way his lips are parted and his eyes wide... You would take a picture and show it to the twins if you could. âYouâre welcome. You whisper before bowing to the Ootoriâs and leave to join your father in his car.
Youâre such an idiot... You couldâve let it go, but you needed to prove that you were in love with the third Ootori son. If it was quick and awkward, no meaning whatsoever, then why was it the only thing you were thinking about during the whole ride home?

Hostess| Kyoya Ootori x reader
Part six -Â The Perfect Boyfriend List
Pairing : Kyoya Ootori x reader
General rating : Fluff, enemies to love vibes
Word count : 2k+
Summary: As only heir to your family you are bound to an arranged marriage with the third son of the powerful house Ootori. His cold behavior is only a mask for you to uncover when you stumble into music room number three.
A/N: Iâm so sorry for the long wait and the short part. I have been through a lot these past few months especially with the quarter life crisis. I hope youâve been all doing great. I promise that the wait will be worth it for the next few parts coming up (spoiler alert: some angst and some sprinkle of spice)
It took ten minutes before you had the guts to get out of the room. You took your sweet time to change into a cute silk pajama your mother made, you brushed your hair and even put perfume on before you left your room. He was waiting for you downstairs and you smiled when you descended the staircase as you saw him lost into a painting.
âPilgrimage to Cythera, by Jean-Antoine Watteau. 1717. The real one is in Paris, but I have to admit it, itâs a rather convincing replica.â His head snapped to you as you made your way right next to him. âItâs the birthplace of Venus, but the real one has angels flying in the background for love and sensuality of the painting.â
âI didnât know you were an art expert.â He was rather shocked by your talent.Â
âYou donât know a lot of things about me, Kyoya.â You smile and so does he. âWhen I was younger, I traveled a lot with my mother and she took me to the most glorious art galleries and museums you could ever think of. I met some great artists and got to learn more about the making and the philosophy behind art. The irony is that I know too much about paintings and so on, but I canât draw for the life of me.â You laugh and he chuckles at your confession.
âI could teach you if youâd like.â You look up to your side and he was already looking at you with sparks in his eyes, one you only saw when he was being competitive. âI am no Watteau or Rambrandt, but I manage just fine.â
âIâd love that! In return I could teach you about some history.â You giggle and he breathes loudly, content with your response.Â
âIâd love nothing more.â He says and in his eyes, it felt like he was surprised by his own words. He suddenly starts walking towards one of the many corridors of the mansion and you follow him to stand by his side.Â
âWhy did you ask for me?â
âTo check up on you.âÂ
âLike I told everyone multiple times today, Iâm alright.â Your smile was slowly fading. âIâm tougher than I look.â
âWhy didnât you call for my help?âÂ
âI just dealt with Tamakiâs little tantrum about Haruhi being careless and all that blah blah blah, I donât want to talk about it.â
âIâm not talking about them, Iâm talking about you.â You stopped in your tracks and you pinched the bridge of your nose in annoyance.Â
âIâm fine. Itâs not the first time I have to deal with rude assholes.â
âBut one of them grabbed youââ
âI said Iâm fine, Kyoya.â Now you were pissed off. Â âI was trained to fight back those dipshits, I clearly wasnât at the top of my class, but it helped me fend off my opponents long enough so security could come and get whoever tried to get in my way.â You took a step forward and looked up to meet his gaze. âIâm not afraid, I am not helpless and I am certainly not weak.â Your words were firm. He smirks as he looks down on you, but you see sadness in his eyes. âAre you okay?â He looked out the window and took a deep breath. You took his hand and tried to smile warmly at him.Â
âI just need real vacations without all the trouble that we always seem to get ourselves into.â He admits and you giggle lightly.Â
âWe could go visit Seoul together for summer vacation. I could show you the best restaurants and secret spots I found over the years.â His smile was finally showing. âWe could go just the two of us, so we don't bring all the trouble with us, but just enough so it stays interesting.â He chuckles but still looks in the distance. Thunder and rain still fills the silence in the night. You wonder if it would be a good time to ask him why heâs always shutting you out, why heâs so repulsed by a relationship with you, why heâs so good to you and then becomes a rude personâ âMori told me I was pretty today, even with all the bandages.â You snort and when he turns his head to meet your gaze you look away and start to walk again. âHe said that it was a shame you couldnât tell me I was.â A long deep sigh escape your lips
âWhy?â It was quick and sharp.Â
âBecause he knows.â You simply answer. âI had high hopes that you would change your mind about this arranged marriage, but for weeks Iâve been disappointed with mixed signalsâŠâ
âWhy do you want us to be a couple so much?â He sounded annoyed by your simple answer.Â
âWouldnât it be better?â You said it as if it was obvious. âI thought that you enjoyed my company, my person, enough so that you and I could⊠maybe make this arrangement a little more real.â
âI canât give you that, y/n.â He stopped in his tracks and sighs disappointed. âI canât give you what you want.â Your smile faded and something inside of you broke a little.Â
âWhy not?â It sounded more like a plea. He doesnât speak, he only gives you a sad look. He canât even give you a made up excuse for why he doesnât want to be with you. You swallow your tears and your pride. You straighten your back and become this cold proper persona youâve always put up in front of everyone. âI see how it is, Kyoya. I apologize for trying to cross the line you put, it wonât happen again.â You walk past him trying to go back to your room, but his hand catches your wrist stopping you next to him. âWe made it clear, I wonât ask anything from you other than a business relationship.â Your voice was shaking and you didnât dare to look at him. âYou told me you didnât want a friendship and to start over but I pushed you and Iâm sorry. I will still take part of my bargain and boost your little numbers and keep Haruhiâs secret if you were about to ask⊠I wonât be a problem to you anymore, I promise.â
âY/nââ You walked out of his grip and slowly made your way to your bedroom. You hadnât realized you were crying until a loud sob escaped your lips a few corridors away.
You tried to not make any more sound, keeping the sobs and sniffles inside, but you choke up on your own sadness. Damn it, Kyoya! Damn you! You were so angry and sad, after him, for not wanting you. And after yourself for believing he could ever want a relationship.
A soft creek echoes in the corridor and light shines through the dark. As if you needed any more attention right nowâŠ
âAre you okay?â Renge asks and you snort. The question of the hour. âGet in here.â She yanked you inside and made you lay on top of her bed sheet. She sat next to you as if she was your therapist. âWhat did he do?â âWhat do you mean?â
âYou never cry unless itâs because of four-eyes.â She snorts and so do you. Sheâs right. You couldâve cried and panicked when you were cornered with dangerous strangers earlier, but you didnât. But now youâre crying because Kyoya refused you.
âDo you cry in front of people, Renge?â Her ceiling was pearly white, but she put a poster of some video game character above her bed, internally you laughed.Â
âNo, not unless Iâm comfortable or Iâm too overwhelmed and canât help it anymore.â She admits as she starts playing with your hair.Â
âI think I got comfortable with Kyoya.â You let out a soft sob as you came to the realization.
âIs that such a bad thing?â She gestures to your tears.
âNo, Iâm not crying because of that.â You chuckle lightly. âI messed up.â You start. âWeâve been seeing each other everyday for the past few months and I thought that he started to actually like me, the real me⊠But I made a fool of myself⊠I thought we were on the same page, but I was in another library, I think.â Renge gives you a tissue and you dry your tears with it.Â
âWhatâs so special about him that you let yourself be comfortable with him?âÂ
âI donât know. Heâs infuriating, aggravating, always trying to prove a point to annoy me⊠Always getting on my last nerveâ But deep down, heâs caringââ You stop yourself. âI like the competition, the bickering and nonetheless I love that we bother each other⊠I love that heâs there, even if itâs to say something annoying or to hold my hand⊠Heâs thereâŠâ You meant every word that you poured out to Renge. It wasnât love, but it felt like it. You knew it couldnât be love, true and simple love because Kyoya didnât want to be yours, not even close as you wanted to be his. âI tried to force him into a real relationship he, oh so clearly, doesnât want.â You started to cry again.Â
âNo you didnât.â She sounded almost angry that you were thinking this way.Â
âIâ I just want to be enough for him, you know? Iâm enough for his family, his stupid brothers, but Iâm not enough for him.â
âYou know what I think?â She tells you and you shrug. âFuck him.â You snort. âRight? Fuck the guy, heâs not interested, fine, but make him regret ever messing with your feelings. You are enough! He clearly canât see it, but I do. Youâre funny, smart, sweet, you have a pretty face and a rather sexy body. Youâre talented, hell you speak four languages for Christ sakes! You are awesome and never let anyone tell you otherwise, not even Kyoya. Because heâs the one that doesnât deserve you.â
âYouâre right.â
âI know I am!â She smiles proudly.Â
âFuck him and fuck all of this stupid arrangement!â You were feral. You were both laughing like the devil possessed you both. âI make my own stupid choices! I will find a husband that I will see fit for me, not for anyone else.â âThatâs my girl!â
âKyoya will be free of me and will do as he wishes and Iâll be happy.â
âMonday, it will be my personal mission to find someone for you. You wonât have to lift a finger.â You laugh deeply. âHow about Asahi?â
âHe is cute, isnât he?â You buried your head in her pillow as you blushed over his tanned body.Â
âTalk to him tomorrow, maybe youâll even get some action.â
âGross.â You were laughing so hard, you were afraid youâd wake up Haruhi, whoâs bedroom was next to Renge. âThank you, Renge.â You smiled at her. âYouâre a great friend.â
âThatâs what friends are for, lift each other up.â She slumped over you and hugged you with all of her strength and, oh god, was she strong.
You spent the rest of the night together in bed talking about your super plan to get another future husband. The Perfect Boyfriend List had six requirements:Â
1. He had to be rich
2. Handsome
3. Kind and generousÂ
4. Funny
5. Obviously interested in youÂ
6. Not be Kyoya
It was going to be easy, right? The list of rich handsome guys at school was long⊠Excruciatingly long, but not impossible! You and Renge were going to be the perfect team for that.
After the terrible morning in Rengeâs room where you both jolted awake by her alarm at 8 am on a Sunday, you were quietly eating lunch with the other hosts, not bothering to look at he who shall not be named.
âSo you and Rengeââ Tamaki quietly starts.Â
âDonât even start there you pervert.â Tamaki gasps. âI heard about your BDSM with Haruhi, stay out of my business.â A soft smirk appeared on your face when he was lost for words.Â
âThatâs not what was going on!â He retorts. âAnd I wasnât insinuating anything! Iâm a gentleman! I heard loud crying, then laughter, I was just curious.â
âYou were crying?â Mori asks, concern shown in his tone. You look up from your plate seeing him glare at Kyoya.Â
âWe were having a girls night, we wouldâve invited Haruhi, but she was busy.â Renge snorts, Haruhi rolls her eyes, but giggles.Â
âThatâs not what happened!â As the two of them kept arguing loudly over breakfast, you felt his intense gaze on you. You didnât want to give him the satisfaction of looking at him, for him to feel the reassurance in your eyes. He deserved it, the ignorance, but a part of you wanted to look at him.
A distant laugh rings in your ears and you recognize him immediately, Asahi! You stand up quickly to go meet him in the corridor leading to the main entrance.
âAsahi!â You called out and he stopped in his tracks to smile at you.Â
âY/n! Hi! How are you?â You finally catch up to him, panting from the sudden rush of adrenaline.Â
âIâm great, how about you?â You wanted, tried, to act as casually as possible.Â
âGood! I was about to go on an early swim with some friends, want to tag along?â His smile was so bright and so gentle.Â
âMaybe later today?â He nods. âLook, yesterday I had a great time at the beach with you as my guest and I think you enjoyed my company a lot too⊠What Iâm saying is that Iâd like to go on a date with you.â
âOh wow! I am super flattered that you asked me out. Youâre a great girl and Iâd love to hang out after school.â But⊠âBut itâs going to sound shitty, but I donât like you romantically, I really like Renge.â You gasp in pure shock. When? What? Where? âIâm so sorry!â
âNo! Oh God, donât be sorry at all!â You laugh nervously. âI didnât know, but Iâm glad you told me, Iâll put in a good word for you.â He chuckles. âBut I would really like to hang out with you too, as friends obviously.â He nods and you rush back to your table where Renge was already waiting for what you were about to tell her. âHe said no.â It was plain and simple.Â
âThat jerk.â She wasnât happy. Not a great start.
âHe likes you.â It sounded less confident than you planned to.Â
âEven a bigger jerk.â She was pouting.
âYou asked someone out?â Kaoru asked, quite interested.Â
âYep and got rejected, no hard feelings.â You chuckle nervously. Renge was plotting something in her mind, sheâs been quiet on the subject for far too long. âHeâll regret rejecting you.â She mumbled.Â
âNo, Renge, I donât care I got rejected.â You laugh patting her on the back. âBesides, you could get yourself one heck of a boyfriend with Asahi.âÂ
âYou asked Asahi out?â The group exclaimed, all of them were in shock as for Kyoya⊠He was silent.
You felt guilty for asking another guy out right after you got rejected by your fiancĂ©e, but it was what you had to do to get out of this union. Be someone elseâs fiancĂ©e and be happy⊠You finally looked over at Kyoya and he felt cold and distant as the group were all yelling at each other over why you had asked Asahi out. He quietly stood and exited the room just as he did at last nightâs dinner. You'd hurt his feelings, but so did he. It wasnât fair play, but he didnât want you that way, might as well find someone who would. Someone who would love you the way you deserve to be loved. After all, The Perfect Boyfriend List had six requirements:Â
1. He had to be rich
2. Handsome
3. Kind and generousÂ
4. Funny
5. Obviously interested in youÂ
6. Not be KyoyaÂ
