ok but...a legitimate question

with animes such as sailor moon, free!, ohsch, etc that take place in japan and have japanese characters, are white people allowed to be kin/id with them? i understand why white people shouldn’t be kin with japanese characters in say, a film set in america or something of the sort where japanese people are a minority, but if someone identified strongly enough (such as i with my overall underlying question of being kin with sailor uranus) with a character, esp if it has an attribute rarely seen in media (for sailor uranus, it’s their gender), is it permissible?
