hiii lesbian whisperer, i hope ure doing fab today. i currently come to u seeking advise!! (don’t feel forced or rushed to reply to any of this btw, i’m kinda just ranting since i don’t have a lesbian whisperer irl. 😭)

but ummmm. basically there is this starbucks barista who worked inside the store i worked at and like. naturally i sort of developed a crush on her except i’m pretty sure she doesn’t know who i am lmao. but we have shared a few tiny interactions here and there (which i doubt she remembers. cuz like, i’m THE MOST introverted bitch u will ever meet) and like for context, i just suck at flirting with girls and holding long conversations with them bc it’s just not in my nature, which is HORRIBLE for me. anywayyy, we both don’t work there anymore, but one of my friends befriended a few of those starbucks baristas and they hang out as a group every monday, and she’s been telling me to join them bc she thinks i’ll get along with them since they like the same music as me and have similar humor. (and honestly i know deep down she is trying to put me on LOLL god bless her), but i said no at first bc i don’t do well in those types of settings (anddd she didn’t mention that my crush would be there! 🤣) but then recently i found out that she also hangs out with my crush on mondays! like, she’s a part of that group! my friend and her are, like, friends! so i was like, OH!

no one knows i have a crush on her. and honestly, i find it embarrassing telling my friends when i have a crush. i’m just not good at that stuff!!!

SO IF I DO JOIN THEM TMR IDK HOW TO ACT!?? like how am i supposed to get to know ONE person in a group setting if everyone already knows each other without making it obvious or creeping her out….? and then how am i supposed to like actually flirt with her and i guess make a good first impression…. ohmygod i am freaking out. 😀

thankfully i know that she’s bi so at least i have a chancee (omg im getting cocky arent i) but yeah i’m just so scared. 😔 being a socially awkward lesbian is not for the weak!!!

my advice is when you do hang out with her in a group, definitely socialize with everyone else, but give her a little extra attention, yk? not in an obvious way, but kind of like, gravitate towards her? and to help with the nerves, just act friendly towards her for now! like, approach her like you would someone you’d like to be friends with. that way, you’ll get used to talking to her and get a feel of the vibe y’all have with each other (you can start out being like, “omg i think i know you, you used to work at this starbucks i would go to).

I got very excited when I got this request!!! First proper Daniel thing (since I didn't know where to start) I've written and I loved the prompts! I could've made this serious or angsty but since you requested daniel... This type of context immediately came to mind, I read them and was like "oh that's very Daniel like that" lol, lmk if you'd like one that's more angsty cause I'm definitely up for that! (Maybe I'll do it either way) Sorry it took a while! School and everything :( Let me know what you think! i have an idea for part 2, lmk if you’d want that!

You didn’t mean to walk into Daniel’s room. Especially not when he probably barely knows your name and he’s wearing a shirt he hasn’t pulled over his shoulders, boxers, socks and headphones, doing the "we're all in this together" dance from the first high school musical soundtrack. You realise you’d been standing too long the second you realise you know exactly where in the song he is, and turn around to leave. But just your luck, he turns around as you’re about to close the door.

The both of you freeze for a minute, staring at each other before Daniel breaks and bursts out laughing. "Oh my god, I’m so sorry I should’ve locked the door. I’m so sorry you had to see that. Have to see this. I don’t know. I’m a terrible dancer I know," He immediately apologizes and cracks a joke to ease the tension, his personality a perfect copy of the Daniel you know from interviews and videos. "No, no it’s my fault, I walked into the wrong room," You say while you cover your face with your hands, also laughing at the situation. "You’re also the person I accidentally hit right? Sorry, didn’t mean to do that," You laugh at the apology he tries to get out while laughing and putting on his shirt properly and think back to that moment in an interview a while ago. He was getting really animated explaining something, accidentally hitting you as you and Max walked past. "Yeah, it’s okay, you were really invested. Looks like you were right now as well…" He lightly blushes. "Please don’t ever bring that up to anyone. Sorry if that was traumatising. Wait, did I give you another trauma before? I feel like I did but I can’t remember. Where have I seen you outside the track?" He finally has recovered a little and finally takes a proper look at you. "I think I’ve seen you in Monaco before. I’m friends with Max," you say, vaguely remembering an embarrassing moment happening (which caused you to never talk to him) but you were not completely sober, so you cannot remember what it was. "OH! You walked in on me hooking up with someone in Max’ bed. And I believe you walked into me, uhm entertaining myself," he says even more embarrassed than before. He covers his face in embarrassment, but his familiar smile is still there. "Yeah, I think that was it. Ohmygod yeah I did, I was high off my ass when I walked in on you. And not completely sober in Monaco, but I have a vague memory of that. We’ve had our fair share of walk-ins, I guess," You say as the mention slowly brings up some memories. "I’m really sorry you had to see all that. And today. Must’ve been really traumatising to meet your friends’ teammate that way. It was back when I was teammates with Max, right?" He asks and you nod. "I’m sorry about that," He apologizes, still laughing a bit from everything. "I realised we never got introduced other than these embarrassing moments, I’m Daniel which you probably already knew," He says, putting his hand in front of you and you shake it. "Y/N. Good friend of Max, decent friend of Lando and other Max. I have these weird moments where I keep catching Daniel Ricciardo in weird situations. Like him doing the entire "we’re all in this together" dance with headphones on wearing boxers and half a shirt," you say and he scratches his head, signature smile on his face as always. "Yeah, that was embarrassing. What’d you need anyways?" He asks, reminding me of the purpose of your visit. "Oh uh, I actually came in to grab one of Lando’s extra coats, but I guess I’m in the wrong room for that," You tell him and he nods towards a small closet. "You can take one of mine, same team anyways. Saves time and exercise," He says sliding open the door and grabbing one. "Thank you," you smile at him, and he gets to properly look at you. You look beautiful, and that’s the best smile he’s ever seen on someone. "I should get back now. It was nice to meet you, Daniel, thanks for the jacket," You say before you step back towards the door. "Yeah, you too. Sorry about what you saw," He says with his signature smile. You chuckle. "Compared to what I’ve seen before, it’s not that bad.I’ll see you some time, Daniel," he laughs at your response. "Yeah. Let me know if you ever need a ride to therapy by the way," he says and you chuckle before walking out. "I’ll text you if I ever need to take you up on that offer," You smile as you turn around. "You don’t have my number!" He says as you start walking away through the hallway. "I have my ways," you say, looking back at him one more time before returning to your friends.

I debated whether I should make this post, or try my hand at making a video since I recorded my scouting adventure. However, editing would take me a while, and I also kinda didn’t look forward to hearing my own voice since I talked during the scouts. When I mentioned this in a previous post:

...which is a good point. _(:3 」∠)_ I might still decide to make the video after all, but in the event that I do, it would be a while before I’d finish it. Thus, I came up with this post!

1. To scout or not to scout

Context: I put up a poll on Twitter + asked Tumblr if I should try scouting on SIF for my birthday, since it happened to fall within the “increased chance of pulling new members” period for the latter half of the Time Travel set. Since Time Travel You happens to be my favorite out of her URs so far, I decided to slightly bend my self-imposed rule of “no scouting until Rin’s birthday box is up on the Global SIF server” by using the large amount of scouting tickets I’d saved up.

The options were as follows:

As you can see from the first image in the above photoset, the poll winner was option 2 - using all 79 of my tickets.

2. >Has 2.4k love gems >Scared of using just 24 tickets

Those of you who’ve been up-to-date on my blog know that I ended up picking option 1 instead. Now, I do have an explanation for this. What happened was that I was in a video chat with some ONIBE members towards the end of my birthday. At that point, I realized that the number of votes meant that I would be scouting that day. What I hadn’t decided, however, was whether I would actually use up all of my scouting tickets.

I then asked ONIBE what their votes would be, and most of them wanted to see me scout. Some of them thought it would be bad luck to scout while streaming it, but in the end we came to the consensus that I should just use some of the tickets - and that’s how I ended up picking option 1.

One of the replies to my poll was to use 40 tickets for You, and save 40 for Rin (I would technically only have 39 left if I did go with this plan, but I’d definitely be able to earn at least 1 more scouting ticket before November). I really liked this idea, and was thinking of trying this out when an ONIBE member suggested using just 29 tickets to scout, leaving me with a nice round number of 50 for the future. I wasn’t a huge fan of such an odd number, but then it inspired me to pick a similar number: 24, to represent my birthday.

I very reluctantly made my way to the scouting screen and tried delaying the inevitable for several minutes - “nooo, I’m gonna regret this...aaaah...ugh...” and so on. This was the first time I’ve seriously scouted, not counting the few scouting tickets I used when I started SIF (which all turned out to be Rs). My strongest cards, as a result, are Promo URs and idolized event SRs. My teams are pretty pitiful, but it’s all for the sake of seeing my teams get filled up with Rins later this year...!

3. Finding happiness in the small things

My first three scouts were all Rs. I wasn’t really discouraged, since scouting tickets are the equivalent of solo yolos. I was pleasantly surprised when the new SR Kanan showed up so early in my scouting run. I was glad to welcome her as the first non-event SR I’ve ever pulled!

The next two pulls after the SR joined my growing pile of R cards, and at this point someone in ONIBE pointed out that I hadn't pulled a repeat card yet. All of the cards so far were unique girls. In order: Dia, Riko, Maru, Kanan (SR), Ruby, and Chika. Pretty interesting. What I chose to nitpick about, however, was the fact that You hadn’t shown up yet, not even as a R. Then, three pulls later...

4. “Should I stop scouting now?”

My exact words when I was doing this scout: “Lucky nine! You-chan! You-chan! You-ch-”

*UR envelope flies out*

“Oh my-”

*UR Time Travel You pops out*

“OHMYGOD HAHAHA-” *breaks down into hysterical laughter*

I was talking relatively quietly up until then because it was towards the end of the day, but I screeched really, really loudly when UR You popped up. My dad actually came into my room to ask me what was wrong, haha.

At that point, I asked myself if I should stop now that I had achieved my goal of obtaining UR You, and someone said I should try to idolize her. My exact words: “I highly doubt I'm going to pull her again. Like, what are the chances that I'm gonna pull her again?”

Oh, the irony...

After several minutes of indecision, I decided to push forward since I did want the You UR idolized. I pulled a bunch of R cards again after that, and during that time I casually remarked that since I got SR Kanan and UR You, it would be really nice if I got SSR Ruby.

5. Ruby answered my wish

Seriously, the scout right before this was KimiKoko Ruby, and I was just like, “Oh, okay. Wrong Ruby, but good to see her.” Then when I pressed the scouting button again:

*SSR envelope flies out*

“Oh?”

*SSR Time Travel Ruby pops out*

“OH MY GOD! Oh my god, what the fuck...?”

With that, I had everyone in the Pure trio, AKA Kayouby (coined by Furirin during the December 2016 trio niconama), for the Time Travel set. The only card I hadn’t pulled yet for this half of the set was SR Yoshiko!

At this point, I was cackling, “Birthday luck is real!” But then I had another “I'm scared, I wanna stop now” moment because I was lowkey terrified of these nice scouts. I eventually convinced myself to keep trucking on.

6. YohaMaru confirmed(?)

Two scouts later, I tried saying “Yohane, shoukan!” on a whim to see if I could pull the remaining card in the Time Travel set. When Maru popped up instead, I just said, “Oh. Well, I summoned her girlfriend~” haha.

7. “Oh! Okay, that’s nice, I can idolize her!”

Kanan now had the honor of being my first idolized non-event SR as well when I ended up pulling her again. After my bout of joy, I exclaimed, “This is pretty good for solo yoloing! WTF is up with my luck today?!”

On the scout right after this, I actually pulled the same exact Smile R Maru card that I had pulled right before Kanan. :3c

8. “Oh! What the- haHAHAHAHA”

This was scout #20. Within 20 scouts, I got the same 2 URs. I know there was a rate-up for this set, but this was crazy!

My second hysterical laughing fit of the day ended up waking my mom, who was sleeping at the time. Oops. But I was extremely happy to be able to idolize my favorite UR so far of my best Aqours girl!

Though, this scout also triggered “I actually want to stop now” self-doubt session #3. Someone commented on my reluctance to scout, and I retorted, “How else do you think I've saved 2.4k love gems? It only took me...two years...” I can only hope that my self-restraint for Rin’s sake will result in something as good as my birthday scouts.

Next scout was a R Chika, and I remarked, "No, it's all gonna be rares now. I've used up my luck for the year."

9. lol bich u thought

Scout #22 brought me my third SR Kanan. I guess my second best Aqours girl loves me a lot~

Once I found out that this card was a Perfect-Locker, someone suggested selling her for seals. I briefly considered it, but thought it was better to just use the 3rd Kanan to unlock her final skill slot.

10. Datenshi misfortune averted?

My last two scouts were R Maru (Mijuku Dreamer set) and R Ruby (Aozora Jumping Heart set), even though I chanted “Yohane, shoukan!” for both of them.

Hilariously, this meant that I ended up with a grand total of zero Yoshiko cards. I've opted to interpret this as her way of granting me birthday luck by keeping away her notorious unlucky streak away from me. Thank you for your sacrifice, oh mighty fallen angel Yohane-sama. :’)

In the end, I of course withdrew the URs for idolization. I also decided to withdraw Kanan, even though she's a PL card, since I don't own that many idolized SRs. The SSR Ruby, however, is still in the present box. The last card I withdrew was actually that Smile R Maru in Image #6, because I actually hadn't idolized that particular card yet.

Lessons learned:

Birthday luck is real.

Chanting “You-chan” will summon You-chan.

Chanting “Yohane, shoukan” will not summon Yoshiko (but it might summon her girlfriend Maru).

Every time I doubt my scouting luck, SR Kanan will show up to prove me wrong.

Don’t ask the internet if I should use up all my scouts on solo yolos, because the answer will always be “yes”.

OKAY. so today was pretty awesome. Jess woke me up at 9:45 and I told her to let me go back to bed until ten 😂 so I did and then I got up. got ready for day 2 of NYCC, with our Marvel Rising cosplays so I was suiting up to be squirrel girl lol which was a great success I must say. While I was doing my make up we were looking for tickets to see a show tonight and decided on Waitress, so we procured tickets to that for tonight. I wanted bagels but there wasn’t anywhere too close so we just ubered to the con center. While in our uber I had to blow up the inflatable squirrel tail I got off amazon that was kind of a struggle but I managed. we got there and had to eat still, so we ended up splitting a pretzel, and then going and checking out the good place exhibit which was basically a giant fork you could take pictures with so we did that, and then we went to the people’s choice awards set up because they were giving away donuts if you voted for the best sci-fi show (#WynonnaEarpFTW) so we got donuts of course and ate those. then we went to the show floor and walked around a bit and ended up at this like fandom food truck thing where if you woke up really early to get there and grab a ticket you could get like one of their fandom related food items for free. but of course we had not gotten there very early to get such a ticket, so we were sad. but fear not, they were also having a trivia contest where the winner would get a ticket to the food truck, and the 1-2 pm one was Arrowverse! huzzah!! And of course I’m like oh I’m gonna win this, just watch. And like, I expected it to be like there is one winner thing and such and I’m still gonna win, but as we were signing up we were informed it was like a one on one thing and the winner of each round got a ticket. and as we were doing so the girl was like “oh you guys will probably go together” at which point Jess decided that she instead wanted to go up against this guy behind us in line that we’d been talking shit to (because she didn’t want to go up against me 😂) so we swapped places so they could go against each other. so we waited a while and then at one it started, the first two competitors go up and we’re like alright, let’s see what these questions were like. and guys. they were so fucking easy. they at least got somewhat progressively harder, but the first round questions were like embarrassingly easy (like “what island was Oliver Queen stranded on?”) and like neither of the two of them would actually get any of them right, even when they had the chance to “steal” it from the other person. It was best out of 9, or first person to 5 wins. so the first one ended with like a 3-2 score. and then it was Jess and this guy, and the questions got somewhat harder (like “who killed Patty Spivot’s father?” and “what prison did Oliver Queen say nobody could break him out of?” which I was like ????? who knows that fucking answer it was like the slab?? smh) and they both just failed lol mostly because there were a lot of flash questions and Jess doesn’t really pay attention to flash, but she still managed to win like 3-1. okay, then it’s my turn. so they say my name and I go up to the platform ready to crush it, then they call the name of the person I’m going up against and it’s like, a kid. like a 12 year old. and I’m like....,ohmygod, I’m going to wipe the floor with him and I’m going to feel SO BAD about it but not bad enough to not do it because I like winning 😂 so before we started the guy hosting was like “so on a scale of 1-10, how much do you know about the Arrowverse” and I just decided I was gonna be a cocky bastard and say “11″ and then have it show when I kicked ass lol. okay, first question, who was the leader of the justice society of america? I hesitated for a moment because I couldn’t remember his superhero name, but then I just said ah fuck it and buzzed in and said Rex Tyler, which was of course right. Then there was “What year is Zari from?” to which I of course answered correctly 2042.There was more after that that I don’t exactly remember but I got right, and at this point I'm oh man I feel SO BAD right now lol so then the guy asked what supervillain was Winn’s father and I’m just like, hesitating and looking at the kid and trying to give him a chance to buzz in, but he just wasn’t gonna do it so I buzzed in and said Toyman, which of course was right, and then the last one was what did little Ray name the baby dominator that he found, and I was like welp guess I’m doing this so I buzzed in and said Gumball, effectively winning the round 5-0, and I’m just like oh man I feel so bad right now 😂😂😂 I like apologized to the kid once we got offstage but he didn’t care so that made me feel a little better lol. so I got my free tote bag and ticket for the food truck, then sat and watched for a bit before taking off to my Adam Savage signing, which was a random one I won from the lottery and I was like hey why not, I can always sell it or something, and that was at 2 but they wanted you to line up early, so I went down to the room that was in and got lined up in the room, then at 2 he came out and the line went pretty quickly. If you’re thinking like who tf is Adam Savage I probably would not have recognized his name out of context lol but he’s one of the guys from Mythbusters and I mean that’s pretty cool so why not? I got up to him and I was like hey I’m Rachel, nice to meet you, and proceeded to tell him that whenever I have to go out in the rain I think about their episode where they tested if you get less wet walking or running in the rain and since walking won I’m always like “I want to run, but I’ll get less wet if I walked!!” and he laughed and said he gets that one a lot, then asked me if I was having a good con and was just overall really nice, it was a really pleasant interaction so that made me happy. I returned to where Jess was (she stayed in the same spot and watched the rest of the trivia) then we went over to the food truck to redeem our prizes since we both won, and got to choose from a few options. Jess got like a pineapple drink thing that had little bubbles of juice in it that we’re like bubble tea ones they just burst full of juice, so I think she had somewhat mixed feelings on that lol. I got a cookie that came with a little thing of frosting to dip it in that was like the legends of zelda sword thing and it was really good! so we ate our things and then walked over to this booth of like a stuffed animal place that had a giant pool filled with plushie toys, more specifically plushies that were cats inside bananas, and people were getting to go in and like fall on them so we were like of course we have to do this, so that was fun, and then they gave us a $5 discount for one of the plushies (not one of the ones from the pool that everyone’s feet have been all over, because I asked 😂) and they have an offsite exhibit like two blocks away with all sorts of cool free stuff so we may check that out tomorrow. After that we went around the artist’s alley briefly before meeting up with one of Jess’ mutuals by the funko booth, so that was fun. then we headed over to another booth where we met up with our third batwoman podcast host again and spent a while just going around with the show floor with her and looking at things. We ended up heading out around 4:45 to make sure we had enough time to eat and see the show. We were gonna take the same subway we took up to times square yesterday but today the station was closed off, and we were directed to take a free bus shuttle they were having instead, so we did that. I had looked at getting reservations but nothing was really working, so I was just gonna see what was going on places. Sadly it seems John’s Pizzeria has blown up, because the last two times I’ve been there the line’s been out the door and around the corner, which makes me sad because I love that place and they don’t take reservations (and I don’t do lines like that) so I don’t get to go now. We checked Carmine’s too but they were reservations only (I tried to get one there but there weren’t any free) which landed us to our default place of Juniors, which I’ve ended up in so many times because we couldn’t get in anywhere else and were tired of trying lol. there was a bit of a wait, longer than normal because they’re generally super fast, but still not bad. I wanted to be able to actually get dessert and not filled up on food because their desserts are supposed to be very good (they are famous for their cheesecake after all) so I only ate half of my sandwich and then got a strawberry sundae that was very good. by the time we finished it was like 7:20 so we headed over to the theatre, picked up our tickets from the todaytix courier, and got in line to see Waitress! I’ve heard a ton of good things about it over the past few years but just haven’t gotten around to seeing it, so I was excited. Overall I really liked it! I had in my head that the time frame was different than it ended up being (spoilers ahead, obviously), because when it was first opening I watched them do the opening number on a today show or something and at the end they have the little girl run up to her mom, so I thought that she was already born by the time they show starts, but apparently that was not the case. so it was a bit different than expected, but it managed to be heartwarming, hilarious, and gripping all at once, which is honestly quite the accomplishment. the music was beautiful (which was honestly a comparison to last night because as I was leaving all I could think was how I couldn’t remember a single song from King Kong but now I had like 6 songs fighting to play in my head) and the story was very well done. I did like the plot a lot of course, even though there were very hard moments, I thought they did an excellent job of blending it all together (in a pie) to make a lovely show, so they get props for that. We had also made plans to meet my parents and sister for dinner tomorrow night, but then we discovered that some shows were moving their Wednesday night show to Sunday night instead (the generally schedule is matinee and evening on Wednesday, same on Saturday and then just matinee on Sunday) so we could possibly get around to seeing a show tomorrow and Jess has really wanted to see Anastasia since we were here in July and didn’t quite get to do so, so once I got the okay from my parents about meeting up a little earlier I got the Anastasia tickets, so I’m quite excited for that. And yeah, from there we ubered back to where we are staying and basically started getting ready for bed right away because we’re pretty wiped and I’m very wiped just typing this, so I’m gonna take that as a sign that this would be a good place to end it.
