Marie Antoinette went to extremes in the matter of extravagance and self-decoration, and lost her head because of it. But across the years she stands for an example of daintiness and luxury and pretty things. Look back over the pages of history and see how the loveliness of women has always spurred men—and nations—on to great achievement! Try to think of some woman who made a place for herself in world history, who swayed hearts and empires! These women wanted to choose their destinies—to be successful competitors in the great game of life.

I admit I've been away from the L4D fandom for a while but I wasn't expecting there to be a drought for Nick/Ellis/Zoey content. Come on, in other fandoms the OTP1 and OTP2 groups usually come together to make OT3 content...
Do I have to do everything myself?

I just saw that you're accepting Hook requests, I hope it doesn't bother you! I was thinking of Hook falling in love with a male!dragon rider, kind of like How To Train Your Dragon, I don't know if you understand me! And it would be that he doesn't believe the reader who rides dragons but then reader gives him a ride and it's reader's brave and fearless personality that suddenly makes Hook fall in love and acts like a clumsy adorable guy, I hope I'm not sounding weird! xoxo
🏴‍☠Young!James Hook x Reader🏴‍☠️
Tumblr media
Reader pronouns: He/him
Pairing: Young!James Hook x Masc!Reader
Plot: It's finally spring break and you can't wait to go home and see your lovely dragon companion! But as excited as you are, a certain hooked boy doesn't quite believe you're capable of flying around on dragons. So why not take him out to fly and watch him get nervous?
Word Count: 1.8k
Extra: ahhh this idea is so cute. Btw I have a ton of requests. I plan on doing ALL of them but it'll take awhile. Hopefully Queen of Hearts will be done next!🫶
Tumblr media
It was that time of year where the snow was melting and the flowers were blooming. The cold turned into warm air that filled the bright and sunny days. It was finally spring.
And spring meant the school had spring break coming up. Everyone would be able to go off and do what they want for a week instead of rush to their classes everyday.
"So, what're your plans for the break?" Your best friend, Zellie, asked you.
She sat across from you, picking at her unappetizing school lunch.
"Hmm. I dunno. Probably go home for the week. It's a long trip but I really miss Berry." You replied with a sigh.
Berry was your companion that couldn't come along with you to Merlin Academy. He was of course your dragon companion. You've known and loved him for so long, it was exciting when you were accepted into Merlin Academy, but just as heartbreaking to leave him.
You try and visit him every chance you get, but there are only so many chances.
Zellie's face lit up with a smile, "Oh right. That's sweet. It's always so cool that you have a dragon that you ride." She gushed at the thought of flying in the air on some type of air creature.
You smile at her enthusiasm and just as you were to respond, an all too familiar voice comes from behind you.
"A dragon? A dragon rider? Little prince on a dragon? That's hilarious."
James Hook. A VK that spent too much of his time messing with you and many of your other friends. And now as he was walking by your table and overhearing what you were discussing, he couldn't stop laughing at the absurdity of it.
With a huff you turn your head to scowl at him, "You think I'm lying or something?"
Hook seemed to take your response as an invitation to slide into the seat next to you and a signal to annoy you as much as possible, "I think someone's spending a little too much time in dream land."
"You're a teenage pirate who fights little boys that can fly, that's arguably less believable." You scoff.
Zellie suddenly decides to perk in, "He really does have a dragon, ya know. And he's like totally the best rider out there. Plus his dragon is so totally cute! You should see the pictures he got on his camera." She said, clearly getting swept away in thought of the adorable creature.
This only made Hook laugh again, "Right, right. A wee lil dragon with a cute wee lil boy riding it?" He mocked with a harder laugh as he teasingly poked your shoulder.
You swatted his hand away quickly, ignoring his remark of you being 'cute'.
"Whatever, laugh all you want. You know, If you really want proof, why don't you stop by my home village? I'm sure I'll be in generous enough mood to let you go for a ride." You remark with a small smirk, already picturing the shocked look Hook would have on his face when he saw you ride. Anything other than that stupid evil grin on him would make you happy.
He stopped laughing and his face turned into one of skepticism, "Really?"
"Mhm." You cross your arms, "I mean, unless you have some other plans this break. Like fighting 12 year olds and fairies in Neverland."
Hook seemed unamused by your comment, "Fine. I'll come to see your 'dragon' and watch you ride it." He rolled his eyes.
----
You were actually a little surprised when Hook agreed to this. You were mostly joking but when he agreed, you couldn't back out now.
Your biggest concern though was having him so close to home and accidentally meeting your parents or something.
The last thing you'd want is your parents thinking their son was friends with some stuck up pirate.
"Okay Berry is in the stables so we'll just walk over there. Then we can saddle up and ride him." You explained, grabbing some of the riding equipment you needed while Hook stood with his arms crossed, keeping a distance from you.
"A stable? Saddle? Do you need to wear a cowboy hat too?" He mocked with a laugh. Though he was becoming less confident in his assumption that you were just making things up.
It's not that he didn't believe in dragons or that riders existed, he came from a place where pretty much anything existed. He just couldn't believe you were a dragon rider. Or that dragons even lived in the normal world.
You sigh at his mocking remarks, "Yeah yeah whatever," you start walking to the stables and he follows close behind.
Honestly it was surprisingly for him. He tried not to show his shock obviously, but you really did have a dragon. He was big and red. This was his first time ever seeing a dragon in person. They were much bigger than he imagined.
You saddled Berry up after saying hello to him and cooing at him, "Well, let's go."
"Oh, no, I'll pass." Hook said, trying to remain expressionless.
"What? You thought I was lying and now you're scared?" You mocked with a smirk.
He rolled his eyes, "No. I'll just watch you ride. You're probably not very good, I don't trust my life in the hands of yours and your dragon."
You nodded, "Okay... So you're scared?" You replied, rephrasing his scentence.
"I'm not." He declared, crossing one arm over his chest and holding his hook to his cheek.
"Maybe I will ride. I'm a pirate. You think pirates get anywhere by being scared? I'm not scared." He said as he approached you and the dragon, though it sounded more like he was trying to convince himself.
His inflated ego didn't make it hard to convince him to ride with you. Just call him scared and he'll be quick to defend himself and do almost anything to prove you wrong.
You helped him onto Berry and sat in front of him so you could do the actual flying part. "Hold on," you warn him, getting ready for take off.
Hook made sure to keep his body from pressing against yours and only resting his hand on your waist with his hook to the side. But once Berry actually started going up into the air and Hook looked down into the small village below you too, he didn't hesitate to completely wrap his arms around you and stay close.
The ride was mostly slow and steady compared to your usual pace but you kept it slow for the sake of it being Hook's first time riding.
The way he held tightly onto your waist surprisingly made your cheeks flush lightly, but he was too worried about himself to even notice or tease you about it.
"Do you want to keep going slow, or go faster?" You asked the man behind you.
"Faster." Was all he said. Clearly he didn't want to but he was determined to prove he wasn't scared.
You smirk slightly at the clear fact he was horrified. But just to prove a point, you suddenly sped up without any build. Hook let out a yell as Berry went faster and sped around doing flips and such. Hook had long already shut his eyes tight but you were having a blast.
Laughing and smiling as you rode faster and took lots of turns and twists.
Diving right through the high green mountains and almost reaching the ground before running back up high into the white puffy clouds.
Hook wasn't sure how you managed to stay so happy and excited about it without your heart dropping to your stomach.
He finally managed to open his eyes but instead of looking down to see how high up you were, he looked at you to try and stay calm. But looking at your big grin and fearless look, it felt like his heart had just been ripped out and replaced with butterflies.
The way you thrived on the experience and the danger of it wasn't something he expected. You were always hanging around the goody kids and always sticking up for the 'right thing' so he never expected you to be as adventurous and brave as you were.
He would never admit it but it was admirable. He thrived on his own kind of danger but this wasn't really his scene. Though it was great for you.
The way the wind blew against your face and how happy you looked made it perfect for you.
----
Once you landed on the ground, Hook didn't waste any time to stumble off of the dragon.
You hopped off Berry with ease and stayed strong in your stance. Though once you noticed Hook's lack of stability, you grab him by the arms and help him stand up straight as he tries to regain his balance.
"So? Still think I don't ride dragons?"
Hook looked at you and then looked away. He clearly didn't like being proven wrong, "Whatever. I was just joking before." He tried defending himself, now standing up straight to try and hide how he just almost fell to the ground. But ya know, anything other than admitting he was wrong.
You cross your arms and raise a brow with a smirk, "Right. Just a joke." You chuckle, "But it was fun, right? You liked it? Or was it too scary?" You tease.
"Not scary." He said, standing straight,
"Mhm. Because your screaming didn't make you seem scared at all." You say sarcastically.
"I don't remember screaming." The skin on his cheeks turned a light red and he looked away from your ridiculously gorgeous face for a moment to regain himself. "But..." He trailed, taking a couple steps closer to you, taking his hook and dragging it gently down your cheek in almost a seductive manner, "I'm sure it was exciting to have my body against you like that."
You were very unamused by his flirting attempt, though you made no effort to pull away from him, "Hmm. I didn't notice. I hope you weren't too distracted by me. Don't want to miss the point of flying." You smirk back at him.
He frowned slightly, pulling his hook away as his face heated up a little at your flirtatious banter. "Say what you like. But admit it, it was nice, wasn't it? You liked it." He grinned, clearly absorbed in how own confidence. Though it came off more as ridiculously adorable to you than some cool confidence.
It was kind of like he saw you differently now. Sure, you'd always caught his eye just from how insanely handsome he found you, but he always thought you were just some rule follower that stuck around royalty all day. But now he actually saw you. And it was way more attractive.
"Hey, if you want to go again later, you know where to find me," You offer with a small genuine smile, "But maybe I should take you out to dinner first. You know, to ease your nerves." You smirk with a teasing wink.
"Careful with your jokes, darling. I might take you up on that offer." A smirk of his own grew on Hook's face. But, God, you made him a mess. That smirk made his heart beat faster and harder than ever before.

here i am (next to you)
alessia russo x reader
w/c: ~1.5k
alessia's grateful for many things in her life- family, friends, and ona fucking batlle for introducing her to the most beautiful girl in the world- too bad she's convinced you're dating ona
based on these reqs: 1 & 2
a/n: i hope you don't mind i combined these! and i took a lot of creative liberties with this.
second part anyone??
------------------------------------------------------------
“Do you know who that girl Ona’s with is?”
“Hello to you too Alessia, I’m doing okay thank you for asking-”
Alessia stares at Tooney- impatiently as the younger girl continues to talk to herself, she taps her foot waiting for Ella to finish.
“I’m serious Tooney.”
“No Less I don’t- she’s probably just a friend or something.”
Alessia huffs- grabbing her phone to view Ona’s story once again, she bites her lip watching for the fifth time- Ona walks along-side mystery girl, Ona puts her arm around mystery girl, Ona presses a kiss to mystery girls cheek, mystery girl flashes a smile that makes Alessia’s heart skip a beat. She shoves her phone into Ella’s face, tapping on the screen wildly.
“I don’t know Ella- they look too close to be ‘just’  friends.”
Tooney blinks- holding onto Alessia’s hand to lower it back down.
“Less… why do you care so much anyway? Who cares who Ona dates… unless, oh my god! Please, do not tell me you like Ona?!”
Ella’s face lights up maniacally at the prospect of Alessia crushing- far too sick of her friend complaining of being single.
“No! Tooney what the hell!”
“Well why do you care so much!”
Ella cries out- a huge smile on her face as she grips Alessia’s arms. “Tooney… I- I just think her ‘friend’ is… fit. Okay? Happy?”
The shriek Ella lets out makes Alessia slap her hand over her mouth.
“Shut it Tooney!”
-
Alessia’s got a couple more weeks left before she’s set to move to Barcelona- and to cheer up some of the girls she suggest a coffee date.
Ona’s message comes right after her suggestion. Zelly replies straight away.
Ona B to ‘ONA AND LESSI ARE TRAITORS’
-> is it okay if my friend comes? She’s visiting and I don’t want to leave her alone
Zelly to ‘ONA AND LESSI ARE TRAITORS’
-> of course!
It doesn’t take long for Ella to message Alessia separately.
Pain in my Butt to ‘you’
-> 😏😏😏😏
You to ‘Pain in my Butt’
-> No
‘Pain in my Butt’ requesting facetime
                Accept.    Decline.
“Lessi this is our chance to do detective work and find out if they’re dating or not! Come on you’ve been practically stalking Ona’s Instagram.”
“They have to be Tooney- I mean they’re so close, like I should just stop, I don’t want to get my hopes up.”
“Don’t be like that Less, I’m sure Ona would’ve said if she was dating someone.”
“Ella Toone do not feed into my delusions.”
“Seriously Less- there’s no way they are, isn’t this like a Spanish thing, ya known overly affectionate.”
“I don’t know any more- just drop it, okay Tooney?”
“Fine.”
Alessia sighs into her hands when the call ends.
This is going to be a long breakfast.
-
“There’s the first traitor!”
Alessia smiles at Leah- bringing the tatted forward into a hug. She goes around the table- hugging all her soon-to-be-ex teammates, before settling in next to Ella- there’s two spaces between her and Lucia and Alessia can only pray that Ona sits next to her.
“Excited for the Spanish sun Less?”
“Yeah- a bit nervous to be honest but-”
Mary’s loud voice cuts her off.
“The second traitor has arrived!”
True to her word- Ona strides through the door- arms linked with yours and Alessia feels her heart drop in her stomach.
“Hola!”
You wave at everyone and follow Ona into the two empty seats- Ona takes the one next to Lucia and they launch into a conversation immediately.
You smile at everyone, and pretend not to notice when the brunette next to the pretty blonde next to you, elbows her in the side.
“Umm hi- I’m Alessia.”
“Hi! I’m (y/n), Ona’s friend- we play on the national team together.”
Ella butts into the conversation- leaning over Alessia.
“Just friends? You two seem very close.”
Alessia could cry right now.
You laugh though- nodding along.
“Yes, yes- we are just friends.”
Ella without skipping a beat.
“Huh how about that, so you’re single then?”
“Yeah I am.”
“Great- sorry to interrupt carry on then!”
Tooney slaps Alessia back before turning around to talk to Mary.
“Sorry about her… sometimes I worry she has no filter.”
“That’s okay- Ona’s the same, when we were younger I told her I liked this girl in the academy and she told her the next day!”
You burst out laughing- your hand finding Alessia’s arm to squeeze.
“Yeah- thankfully she’s a lot better at keeping my secrets now.”
You continue to talk quietly- both of you too wrapped in one another that you miss the knowing smiles that Ella and Ona share.
-
Alessia’s lying in bed later that night when she gets a message.
Unknown to ‘You’
-> Hey I hope you don’t mind I got your number from Ona- I loved talking to you today!
You to ‘Unknown’
-> Of course not! I loved talking to you too.
Unknown to ‘You’
-> I’m here for a few more days, maybe you could show me around? 😉
Alessia screen shots the message- quickly sending it off to Ella.
You to ‘Pain in my Butt’
-> WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?! *attachment1
Pain in my Butt to ‘You’
-> She wants you 😌
A message interrupts the conversation with Ella
Unknown to ‘You’
-> Sorry if that was too forward, you totally don’t have to if you don’t want to
You to ‘Unknown’
-> No, no! Sorry, I would love to show you around.
-> How's tomorrow? 10? Same place as today?
Unknown to ‘You’
-> Sounds like a date! See you then 😘
Alessia screams into her pillow.
-
“Hey you look beautiful.”
Your complement has Alessia blushing furiously- she can feel her neck get hot.
“Thank you- you do too.”
You flash her a cheeky grin- holding up a cup of coffee for her to take.
“It’s an oat milk latte.”
“You remembered?”
“Of course!”
Offering her your arm to hold- Alessia takes it, leading you around Manchester.
The day progresses and seems to slip away as you continue to talk quietly- Alessia takes you around the city- occasionally pointing out things.
It’s mostly just you talking about anything and everything though.
Hours later you find yourself in front of Alessia’s apartment building- holding her hands.
“When you move to Barça- it’ll be my turn to show you around- I promise I’ll give you the best tour ever.”
“I thought you played in Madrid?”
“I’d make the trip just for you.”
Alessia’s chest fills with warmth, before she can say anything- you press a soft kiss to her cheek,
“See you later Lessi.”
-
The news that Alessia Russo- Barça’s newest world record breaking signing, is on her way to camp breaks out. That’s not what has her and the rest of the world freaking out though. Alessia’s transfer news has been out for weeks now- what has her calling Ella at one o’clock in the morning is Barça’s newest post. It’s a last-minute transfer. Barça’s latest Instagram post show a photo of you- a proud smile on your face as you hold up a Barça jersey up.
“She’s signing with Barça Tooney!”
“This is good news, isn’t it Less?”
“Yes of course it is! But I don’t even know what we are!”
“So, figure it out over there- I’m going to bed.”
-
When Alessia arrives to the training grounds- she feels the pit of anxiety curling low in her stomach.
Everything has already been so different to Manchester.
She breathes in deeply, stepping into the changing room and is immediately pounced on in a hug- she recognises the two girls that are crushing her into a hug- Pina, and Aitana.
“It is so nice to meet you!”
She’s pulled out of the two girls embrace and essentially passed around the room, each new teammate pulling her into a hug, the occasional kiss pressed to her cheek.
She comes to a stop in front of you- you smiling at her sheepishly.
“Hey Lessi… surprise?”
She punches you in the arm softly, pulling you into a hug.
-
(y/n)<3 to ‘Lessi<3’
-> My turn for the tour right?
Lessi<3 to ‘(y/n)<3’
-> I’m expecting big things
(y/n)<3 to 'Lessi<3'
-> 10 tomorrow, be prepared for the ultimate Barça experience.
-
“Oat milk latte?”
You hold out a cup of coffee to Alessia- smiling at her. She takes it with a smile- cuddling into your side when you swing your arm around her shoulders.
“So, what’s the plan?”
“It’s a surprise Lessi. You just have to wait.”
Just like Manchester- you spend the whole day together.
Just as the sun is setting- you end up taking her to ‘La Sagrada Familia’.
Watching her explore with a soft smile on your face.
“Hey Lessi?”
“Yeah?”
“Will you be my girlfriend?”
Alessia- instead of verbally responding, presses a soft kiss to your lips.

I'm obsessed with the idea of multi-sized spas for this reason. Just the idea of complete self-indulgent care for both giants and tinies makes my brain buzz
A minor g/t thought I do like from time to time to explore is just touch maybe? Maybe your giants hands are rough from hard work or just neglectful on taking care of themselves..or they could be soft, you can smell the lotion on their hands as being described as they pick the tiny up in careful hands..
Maybe they wear jewelery or tattoos? I know some fics only go lightly on those things but it's nice to try and put in more tactile and sensory ideas into writing to help out more.

Maybe before Beckett and Hazel started dating one of the other ducks players would flirt with her during the weekly questions for TikTok and Beckett is just so annoyed with it bc even though they aren’t “together” yet that’s HIS GIRL!!!! a little bit of drama if you know what I mean
does he know? -> beckett x hazel 💌🌸✨
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"does he know that i want you so bad?" does he know, one direction
pairing: beckett sennecke x hazel summary: beckett is tired of the guys flirting with his girl... warning(s): cursing author's note: omg BYE I WAS LIKE when can i start the drama 👀 i already have ideas for a breakup LMFAOO wc: 1.4k
Tumblr media
He shouldn’t feel like this—not after only knowing her for a couple weeks, not after only going on three dates with the girl—but watching his teammates flirt with her, day after day, knowing that he and Hazel are—at least in Beckett’s mind—a thing, made him feel…I don’t know, upset? Angry? Jealous? Sure he’s never really told the guys that he’s with Hazel, and honestly, he doesn’t even know if Hazel thinks that they’re together, but to Beckett, that was his girl—in the least territorial way ever.
“Beck!” Trevor shouted, skating over to the bench where Beckett was standing, dousing his face with cold water.
“Hey, Trev,” Beckett responded, lowering the water bottle and facing the older boy.
“You okay?” he laughed, clapping his back.
Beckett wondered what prompted Trevor to ask that. Did he put his pants on backwards again, or maybe he was wearing the wrong helmet, or, oh shit, was he supposed to be doing laps right now? Beckett looked around curiously, and then did another look confusedly, no one was doing laps. Okay, maybe he was okay then. But then why was Trevor talking to him?
“Uh,” Beckett stammered. “I think I’m okay…” he trailed off, his mind racing with ideas on why he’s probably not okay. If I think I’m okay, but everyone else thinks I’m not okay, then that should mean that they cancel each other out and that I am okay? Or does that mean that I’m not okay? Fuck, now I’m confused.
Trevor laughed loudly, his shoulders shaking as Beckett stood in front of him awkwardly. “You’re disassociating as fuck right now.”
Before Beckett could ask Trevor how he learned that word—because let’s be real, despite Trevor attending college for a year, he didn’t know many words—Olen skated up to the two boys, grabbing a water bottle from the bench.
“Zelly, riddle me this—”
“For fucks sake, did you just say ‘riddle me this,’ Zeegs?” Olen chuckled.
Trevor waved him off, continuing his ramble. “Riddle me this!” he said louder, trying to drown out Olen and Beckett’s laughter. “Becky here is falling for the media girl.”
Beckett scoffed, throwing his hands in the air. “No, I’m not!”
“You totally are,” Trevor replied. “You were watching her set up her little tripod for the last five minutes.”
“No way, Beck,” Olen chuckled.
“I don’t like her like that,” he argued. He didn’t even know why he was arguing with them. Everything they were saying was completely factual. He does like Hazel. Hazel has been one of the best people he’s met since coming here, but for some reason, he just couldn’t admit it to them. Maybe it was the way he felt like he had to be mature coming to the Ducks, I mean, he’s in the NHL now. He should act like it, but at the same time, he kind of just wanted to look cool around them.
Was admitting that he liked Hazel deemed uncool, though? He wasn’t sure.
“Oh,” Trevor nodded dramatically. “So you don’t mind that Cut’s over there flirting with your girl?”
Beckett whipped around, faster than he would like to admit, and came face to face with the exact scene Trevor had described. There Cutter was, making Hazel laugh. He had no right to make Hazel laugh like that. Was it even funny? Was she laughing out of pity because she’s just that nice? Was this her way of telling him to leave her alone, by indulging in his stupid jokes and unfunny references? What could he even be saying that was making her laugh that way?
Hazel’s shoulders shook uncontrollably, laughing so hard she might even pee her pants. Amanda, the other intern working social media with her, laughing equally as hard.
“The Lakers are not what LAK in hockey stands for,” Cutter laughed as Amanda snorted loudly, prompting more chuckles from the three.
“How was I supposed to know!” Hazel shouted, small shiny tears rimming her eyes.
“I don’t know, you work in hockey?” Cutter replied. “But at least we know you’re not a Kings fan,” he smirked, knocking his shoulder against hers.
“Cool down, bro. You look like you’re gonna pop a vein,” Trevor laughed as Beckett watched the three of them.
“What could he possibly be saying that is that funny?” Beckett scoffed, squeezing more water into his mouth.
“Here’s an idea: why don’t you go over there and tell him to back the fuck off your girl?” Trevor suggested. Trevor always made rash decisions, and every single time, they backfired. But this one didn’t sound too bad. But also, this is Beckett Sennecke we’re talking about. The boy trips over his own two feet and stumbles over simple phrases like The Cat in the Hat. He couldn’t give Cutter a piece of his mind even if he wanted to.
And he wanted to so badly, or at least walk over there and kiss the shit out of Hazel right in front of the guy.
“She’s not my girl, Trev,” Beckett sighed.
“Yeah, but you want her to be. So, just do it,” he shrugged as if it was so easy. For Trevor, maybe. Trevor could get any girl he wanted by just sending a look there way. But again, this is Beckett Sennecke we’re talking about. He was the literal embodiment of a loser. “C’mon, we’re doing the stupid question thing again. Go over there and get your fuckin’ girl.”
Beckett rolled his eyes, but followed the older boy’s lead. He strode over to the tunnel where the interviews were taking place. He read the whiteboard that listed this week’s question. “If you had any superpower, what would it be?”
He listened to all of the boys’ responses before it was Cutter’s turn. He smirked at the camera, and then smirked at Hazel, like he knew that his answer would incite something in her. Beckett’s stomach churned, watching Cutter eye Hazel like he wanted her in not-so-innocent ways.
Cutter mulled the question over before giving his response. “Teleportation, definitely.”
“Why?” Hazel prompted.
Cutter smiled and it made Beckett’s body go scolding hot with envy. Beckett wasn’t even a jealous person, or maybe he’s never liked any girl enough to become jealous of a guy talking to them, but right now, he felt like he could burn a hole in a wall just from one look—maybe that could be his superpower, he thought.
“So I could take this pretty girl I know anywhere she wants.”
What the fuck? Beckett’s entire body lurched, not even sure if he heard the guy correctly. But by the way Cutter was smirking at his girl, Beckett could tell that he heard the guy loud and clear.
“You just gonna let him say that, Beck?” Olen teased.
No the fuck he wasn’t.
Walking forward, Beckett met Hazel’s gaze and it was like his body fell back into a safe, normal temperature. She smiled at him and it felt different. It felt different from the way she smiled at Mason, and the way she smiled at Leo, and even the way she smiled at Cutter. It felt warm and giddy and real and genuine and—it felt like Hazel, like his Hazel.
“Beckster.”
“Haze.”
It was like he was gravitating towards her. He wanted to talk to her and ask her a million questions. He wanted to ask for her thoughts on the third book in the Off Campus series; if she was tired from standing all day; if she was hungry, or if she wanted him to grab her a snack from his duffle bag, knowing that she hates the ones the nutritionist provides. “I appreciate the healthiness, like do your job, sis, but like…we really need some junk food around here, you know? Like at least some potato chips or something.”
“This will probably be the most important question you’ll hear all day,” she grinned, tilting her head up to look at Beckett.
“Oh, definitely,” he smiled back, and it was like a charge of electricity was tying them together, like something magnetic was keeping them close, unrippable without force. It felt right, like he had no reason to be jealous of Cutter or anyone else on the team because they didn’t connect with Hazel—-not the way Beckett did. They could make her laugh, smile, god forbid they make her cry, but it’ll always be Beckett that she comes back to, and it'll always be Hazel that he wants.
“What superpower do you want, Beck?”
He gazed at her, a playful smirk spreading across his face, and said, "I’d make it rain potato chips.”

“okay okay hold on.” trevor says drunkly, thinking of what to say next. you and olen sharing occasional glances.
“oh, i got it.” he starts, glaring strongly at you.
“put a finger down if you’re first, and maybe only body, only ever lasted 5 minutes maximum on your living room couch.” he smirks.
“fuck you.” you retort.
“that was like too specific.” olen butts in at your defense. olen was pretty quiet but you’d always kept your admiration for him close to you. you were somehow embarrassed for anyone to know that you liked him, and now you knew you were fucked since he had this crude information about you and your ex’s shitty sex life.
“what? she hadn’t put a finger down yet. i had to say something.”
“yeah well never told mason that i fucked him because he didn’t like him so, thanks trevor.” you reply, olen placing a soft hand on your back for a moment to soothe the nerves. you were happy that he’d been called up. being able to spend proper time around him has only caused your fancy for him to grow, and you couldn’t tell how mutual the feeling was, even if he was a little touchy.
“oh, sorry.” he replies, muting his snarky tone.
“i won’t hold it over your head y/n, clearly you’re upset by it so why should i make you more upset?” mason replies gritting his teeth. you could tell he wanted to say something but refrained for doing so to save you some embarrassment.
you were lucky to have a brother like mason. he was very caring and kept your head on your shoulders when you needed it most, which was a lot. especially when you were with your ex, whom he despised.
“can we just fuckin drink now, i’m about to lose anyway.” trevor complains and you roll your eyes. you liked trevor but couldn’t always vibe with his smart ass attitude.
“okay, put a finger down if the best friend you used to hold dicks with to pee got traded across the country and you still haven’t even gone to see him.” you smirked back at trevor and he snapped his finger down.
“and don’t make the excuse that you don’t have time, you and i both know that’s a lie.” you continue, standing up with your one drink for the night, disappearing into the kitchen to find another bottle for once you were done with the first.
“hey.” olen says turning the corner of the counter. the two of you alone in the kitchen away from the drama.
“are you good?” he asks.
“oh uh, yeah. kinda.” you reply unsurely.
“do you wanna go talk?” he asks.
“yeah we can go sit on my balcony.” you accept his advance and leave the bottle on the counter, not wanting the buzz to ruin the moment. luckily, you decided to sip this one so you weren’t even feeling any sort of intoxication. you guide olen into your bedroom and onto your balcony. the southern california air was warm and dry as the sun dipped lower and lower on the horizon.
“so, how are you feeling after that game?” you ask him, asserting yourself.
“i’m feeling good. i feel like im pretty tame compared to some of those guys.”
“and ‘to some of those guys’ you mean alex and trevor?” you giggle in response.
“yep. they’re a little wild for me.” he admits laughing lightly.
“yeah, me and trevor are good friends but he pisses me off. i told him the story in confidence. he’s one of the people that got me to break up with that loser anyway.”
“tell me about that.”
“well he was my first and only boyfriend. so at the time obviously i thought i was in love and shit. like i thought the sex was good, i thought he loved me. let’s just say wrong and wrong.” you explain, olen placing his arm behind you on the loveseat.
“damn that does sound pretty shitty, you for real haven’t had like a good good experience with sex?”
“nah, i mean i fucked him many times when we were together but i don’t think i ever actually like….. you know, came.” you admit, your face burning red.
“really?” he says in a curious tone.
“yeah and it kind of sucks. because i hear people talk about how good it is all the time. i just feel like i put myself out there and get no payoff.”
“well maybe you don’t have to search too far.” he says quietly as you lean your head on his shoulder. growing more comfortable in his presence by the second.
“yeah maybe not.” you sigh, at first not registering what he may have been suggesting. you sat there in a comfortable silence for a few minutes before removing his arm from behind you. before you knew it, he turned your head to his, attaching your lips softly, the kiss blossoming into something deeper by the second. something must have kicked into both of you as he picked you up and brought you onto his lap, straddling his hips, the placement of his hands giving you goosebumps.
“olen please.” you moan on his lips breaking the kiss.
“what is it pretty girl?” he asks.
“can we?” you ask, sending him your most sop puppy dog eyes.
“yeah, we can.” he giggles, bringing you back in by the nape of your neck, picking you up with ease, carrying you back into your bedroom. he slid the balcony door shut and pulled the curtains as you clicked your lock, he put pillows behind your headboard to insure no sound would be made. you both undressed hectically, giggling as you ran into each other in passing making sure everything was secure.
“i think we’re safe now.” you whisper by the door, tugging on the handle, reassuring yourself that a drunk and stumbling Z would not walk into your room while olen was dick deep inside you.
“wow look at you, how could he not treat you right? you’re fucking stunning.” he says climbing over you reattaching your lips, his fingers making immediate contact with your heat. his fingers twisted your quickly swelling bud before he pushed them inside you, keeping your composure as best as you could, your moan mumbling itself on his lips. while your lips were still busy, your free hand found its way to his dick, taking it into your hand and pumping him hard in decent time. you both knew you didn’t wanna be gone too long, so you had to make this at least a tiny bit speedy.
“fuck.” he grunts pulling away from your lips, spreading your knees open, pushing himself into you. you sighed in relief when the feeling of his cock inside you finally came around, brushing your sensitive spot at the first try.
“god olen.” you moan, trying to keep your voice close to a whisper if possible. his thrusts were slow and thorough, pushing into you at the perfect angle.
“feel so good y/n.” he grunts quietly, face still inches from yours. he sped up his thrusts slightly, trying his best not to raise the volume of his skin slapping against yours. one snap of his hips caused a loud moan to leave your mouth, instantly slapping your hand over your face. he continued his pace, giggling slightly at the fact that you were enjoying yourself. you’d been so stressed about them not hearing you that you didn’t even think about what your body was craving, and that was him. eventually,’you accepted it, releasing your hand from your face, moans quietly ringing from your mouth as you saw stars. his lips attached to your neck as you pulled on his hair, practically begging him to speed up because you could feel a wave of euphoria coming.
“oh fuck.” you moan and he leans up.
“are you okay?” he asks.
“yes, fuck, more than okay.” you reply, pulling him back to your lips. his lips were soft and plump and you were addicted to the taste of them. his hands moved from the bed to your waist, fucking you impossibly deeper, your moans coming from deep inside you.
“y/n?” you hear a voice with a knock on the door and olen slows his thrusts down significantly. pumping in and out of you very slowly, almost worse than trying to speak when he’s going fast. feeling every inch of his swollen cock inside you.
“yeah?” you say biting your lip, digging your nails into his back.
“are you okay? i thought i heard crying.” you hear trevor’s voice on the other side of the door.
figures.
“oh uh, yeah. i’m fine.”
“well if i upset you earlier im really sorry okay? i didn’t mean it like that. i shouldn’t have said anything.” he apologizes, which you half expected considering mason’s reaction.
“well tha-thank you Z.” you reply shakily
“yeah of course, and have you seen zelly?” he asks one last thing. little did he know exactly where he was right now.
“yeah he’s in here, we’re just talking.” you reply as he snickers above you.
“okay i’ll leave yall alone.” he says and you hear him walk away, olen instantly bringing back his quick and thorough pace.
“god why didn’t you just stop, i’m so sensitive now fuck.” you whine at the way his cock was slamming into you, quickly becoming overwhelmed with senses.
“fuck you’re getting tight baby.”
“oh my god i think i’m cumming.” you say, a galaxy forming behind your eyes before you clenched around him one final time, releasing a quiet cry as your orgasm washed over your body. he gently fucked you all the way to the end, eventually spilling his own climax inside you. crashing out on your chest, pulling out slowly, and your hand immediately finding its way into his hair.
“so, whens that first date?” he asks as you’re both still catching your breath.
“tomorrow?”
“i’m down, ill pick you up at noon.” he replies.
“pick me up? babe, who said you’re leaving tonight?” you giggle.
“do you want me to stay?” he asks.
“i thought that was made pretty clear. i mean you don’t have to if yo-“ you start to panic at your approach.
“y/n, stop. calm down. yes, of course i will stay here with you. i hope mason doesn’t mind.”
“what he doesn’t know doesn’t hurt him.”
“well, i think he should know.” he replies, rolling off of you.
“why so soon?”
“so he knows that someone will finally take care of his sister like she should be.” he replies, running gentle fingers through your hair.
“and also, he will see me in the morning when we eat breakfast so, i feel like it’d be best if we spared him the confusion.” he continued.
“oh yeah, you’re definitely correct.” you laugh as he pulls you to his side of the bed, laying you on top of his gorgeous toned figure.
“i feel like we’re moving pretty fast, we haven’t even hit the first date yet.” you giggle and he responds by simply kissing you, your heart melting at the gesture.
you wouldn’t change a single thing about tonight, eventually thanking trevor for exposing you, as it lead to the greatest sex you could’ve ever fathomed.

For the Descendants kids with horrible and trashy names, how would you name them? From books and movies.
So I'll just go ahead and give how I changed each name for My Canon Descendants AU, to make them feel more like their own character/fit better with the og movies time periods/cultures. I didn't give them all unique names as the point of the project was to translate the Descendants kids into the actual movies, not make full OCs, (though I did end up making a few of those anyway xD) but I tried to at least adjust them.
Mal--Mallow (to go with the Nature name theme the Three Good Fairies had going on with their own names/Briar Rose)
Audrey I kept as it was actually a Medieval name!
Evie-- Eva, it's a pretty easy fix to more period accurate/Germanic sounding
Doug -- Doleful, to fit better with the Dwarfs Attribute names, plus he seemed kinda down in the first movie so the meaning felt like it fit
Carlos I kept because honestly I felt like it could fit in universe if Cruella's husband was a Spanish man, which he conceivabley could be
Jay--Jaamil, and no not because of Twisted Wonderland that just happened by accident xD
They orginally had Aladdin's deleted sin be named Aziz but there was already an Aladdin character named that in the TV show who was a villain so I changed it to Ahmed, like one of the other Arabian Nights heroes
Ben--I changed from Benjamin to Benedict as that was more French/period appropriate
Honestly I could 100% see Gaston naming his sons after himself so I kept Gastons 1 and 2 but I changed Gil to Gilbert (French pronunciation of course)
Lonnie...oh Lonnie. I changed her name to Chi, as with her patronymic of Li she would be Li Chi, which sounded similar to Lonnie but would actually be Chinese and is the name of a girl in a Chinese legend who slays a dragon, which was what I based her hypothetical movie plot on
Chad I changed to Charles, easy enough. Much more elegant and formal
Jane I just changed to Janet to make it a little fancier/Frenchier as well xD
Dizzy I changed to Daisy (though I suppose since she's French based, it really should be Marguerite...eh Daisy can be the nickname)
Uma I kept cuz honestly its a good name and her song is a banger 👌
Harry is fine, good pirate name, short for Henry, which also works. Harriet was fine too, just made her and Harry twins and made CJ go by her first name only of Calista.
Honestly with a pirate dad named Smee Squeeky and Squirmy also work, though they're definitely nicknames.
Celia works fine, it fits with the time/culture of 1920s New Orleans, though I did change Freddie to Frederique.
Getting into some book characters now:
Artie I changed to Amhar, a lesser known son of Arthur (could have done Mordred but as the kid was meant to be heroic I decided to go with Amhar, plus it started with A x)
Mad Maddy honestly isn't a bad name, but I did change it to Matilda to be a bit more Medieval sounding, plus linked her to Matilda of the Night, a Medieval witch legend.
(And apparently there's gonna be a son of Morgana Le Fay in the new movie named... Morgie. My gosh. Well we'll change that right back to Yvain. Her actual son, no she's not Mordred's mother no matter what the movies try to tell you she's his aunt and I will die on this pedantic hill)
Hadie I instantly changed to Zagreus. He's the literal son of Hades and goodness its such a better name. Same with changing Herkie to Hyllus. Also an actual son of Hercules and doesn't sound like a euphemism for throwing up.
Allie I changed to Mary Jean after the Real Alice's grandaughter, and when I made my Queen of Hearts Kid D4 hadn't been announced yet so I named her Aceline (a pun on Ace of Hearts)
Ruby and Anxelin weren't terrible names so I kept them, just made Anxelin a Dark Kingdom name xD (and apparently they're giving Rapunzel a third daughter in the new movie? Her name is just Zellie though...so I think I'll just keep these two. Zellie could definitely work as being short for Anxelin and hey, Rapunzel had twins in the actual fairytale so two just works)
Wrapping it up:
Claudine isnt too bad and fits the time period but I changed her parent from Frollo to his brother Jehan cuz that man should never ever get to be with any woman.
Clay Clayton I changed to Cecil after the actual Clayton character in the books who wasn't that bad of a guy.
Yzla works fine as a name for Yzma's daughter. I just changed Zevon to Yzon to match better and not sound so much like he escaped the 23rd century
Ginny Gothel I just lengthened out to Ginevra to sound more fantastical
I didn't actually do anything for Pocahontas as it always kinda controversial to touch. But if I did I'd of course just make her descendant her actual son Thomas Rolfe and apparently they gave Ratcliffe a son named Rick? So...we'll change his name to Richard or--well one sec let me see if Actual Historical Governor Ratcliffe had any kids.
OK! Looks like he didn't but he did die horribly. My Gosh.
Anyway I think that's everyone!

Early Riser
AO3 Link
It’s five a.m. when the chain stumbles out of the portal. Well, actually it’s four minutes past five and counting seconds, but Time’s pretty sure no one cares about that. It was somewhere in the middle of the second watch when the portal appeared on the opposite side of their campsite.
Warriors, who was on watch, bore it with the grace of someone used to terrible hours in the army. Those that were woken up were in…less useful states. Wind was mostly asleep standing upright. Legend’s glare could light rain on fire and Hyrule’s arm around his waist might be the only thing restraining him.
Four drooped against Sky, who was also mostly asleep. Maybe he’s gained the ability to sleepwalk; Time wouldn’t put it past him. It takes him three slow blinks to claim the era. “We’re in Skyloft.”
Time doesn’t point out that this is obvious as the predawn light is lighting up the clouds. A cold wind bites at his fingertips; no wonder the chosen hero wears so many layers up here.
“Why is it so early?” Wild burrows into Twilight’s arms—ah, he’s trying to get into the wolf pelt. His successor isn’t magnanimous enough to give it up but wraps Wild up in his arms.
“Aren’t you made for early mornings?” Legend glares around Hyrule. “You’ve got a shit sleep schedule.”
“Just because it’s bad doesn’t mean it’s a choice.”
“Sleep, asshole!”
Time sighs and says, “Language, vet. I know it’s early.”
“Self-righteous piece of—”
“Legend!”
His only answer is a feral hiss. The vet is not pleasant without coffee in the morning. Time turns his attention back to Sky, who’s still staring blankly. “Where can we go this early?”
“The market—” a yawn interrupts him. “The market is setting up by now, so we can hang out there. Or we can try the Academy.”
“Which is closer?”
“Market.”
Time waves Sky forward, then leads the way when the hero doesn’t move. “Market it is for now.”
The cloth walls of the market block out the chill, although it’s still dim inside. They congregate in a corner, still yawning.
“Good morning! Oh, look at you all! Link! I’ve missed you!”
Time drags his attention to the approaching girl who has, frankly, far too much energy for this time of day.
“Hey, Zelda.” Sky yawns halfway through and slumps into her hug.
“Aww, who’s a sleepyhead?”
“It’s like, dawn. That’s when people sleep, Zelly.”
“Nonsense! This is the perfect time to get up and get going for the day! Smell that crisp air?” She takes a deep breath to demonstrate. “We just need to get you all moving, you’ll see.”
Legend’s moan is full of so much pain that Time whips around. Did he miss an injury? Did something happen after they landed?
The vet does look physically ill as he says, “Oh no, you’re a morning person!”
Hyrule pats his shoulder. “It’s okay, Legend. Remember, Sky has to deal with her forever.”
Zelda makes a face, then makes another when Sky only sighs sadly instead of defending her. He nuzzles her shoulder. “I’ll bear the burden. Learn to sleep through it.”
She steps back abruptly, letting Sky fall to the ground. “Well. Some of you don’t appreciate the benefits of a good morning.”
“Zelly! Why?” Sky rolls on the ground, arms wrapping around her ankle. “Do you have no pity for your hero?”
Legend steps forward, possibly deciding Sky needs backup. “It was the middle of the night when the portal came! Do you know what’s important? Sleep!”
“I like waking up early,” Twilight pipes up.
“Shut up!” No less than three glares are turned on him, and one from the champion still leaning into his fur.
Zelda senses an ally and zeroes in the rancher. “You get it, right?”
“Yeah. I help out on the ranch so there’s no late mornings for me.”
Wild, unwilling to be pulled into the discussion, leaves the protection of Twilight’s fur and barrels into Legend and Hyrule. They easily absorb him into their group and slump against each other.
Time watches the group drift around, blinking slowly. Zelda and Twilight’s conversation grows more animated and starts to pull in those heroes who are at least functioning. Good, they can take care of themselves.
Leaning against one of the tent poles, Time lets his eye slide half shut. It was the middle of the night when he got up. Safe in Skyloft, he can afford to be a little lax. Actually, the Academy has that great bathhouse. Maybe an early morning bath?
It’s too bad Malon isn’t here. Or if they had a bathhouse like that in their era. Large pools of water…steam from the fire…yes. Just the two of them alone. He could help her wash that beautiful red hair.
Time shuts his eye fully, losing himself to a drowsy fantasy of warm water, soft hands, and carefully detangling hair. Maybe he can rub her shoulders; Malon pushes herself too hard on the ranch.
After the bath they could get breakfast…maybe ride on a loftwing…
“Time!”
He jerks and whacks his head on the pole. Zelda is grinning at him. “You awake, hero?”
“I was thinking.”
“Mmm. With your eyes closed.”
“That’s the best way to think.”
She rolls her eyes, but gestures. “Come on, let's head up to the academy. You can either stay up a bit for breakfast or go back to sleep.”
The word sleep has the magic effect of motivating the other heroes to brave the chill morning air. They troop out of the market and up the hill to the Academy. Sky keeps Zelda tucked against his side; cape wrapped around her shoulders.
Time smiles to himself as he watches them. They aren’t like he was with Malon, but that’s okay. What they have is pure and sweet. When he first started courting Malon…well, he was a mess. It’s a miracle she put up with him, much less agreed to marry him.
“Good morning! Oh, Link, it’s good to see you! And friends! What a delightful surprise this morning!”
A booming voice breaks him out of his thoughts and inspires groans from the heroes.
Legend goes back to practicing his fire-setting skills through glares. “Of course, Zelda’s dad is a morning person, too. Sky, your kids are cursed.”
Silently, Time has to agree.

also what happens to Malon after she's arrested????? (does she, perhaps, find smth out about her deceased husband 👀)
- hero-of-the-wolf
@hero-of-the-wolf
...
Malon was tossed into a holding cell without a word, and without so much as the hope of a trial or lawyer or anything of the sort.
She heard a distant laugh as the door was slammed behind her, and exhaled wearily as she sat up, brushing some dried blood from her cheek as she moved. The trip here hadn’t been long, but it had been one unpleasant moment after another, harsh shoves and sneers and glee at her arrest, and even a shock she’d gotten when a guard’s hand had wandered and she’d punched him.
Add that to the bruises she’d gotten from the fight earlier with Warriors, and most of her body ached.
Malon closed her eyes, thinking of her husband’s brother. Warriors had stayed beside her as long as he could after she’d been arrested, a hand on her arm until he'd been called away and had to leave. Despite the fact that they’d had to feign indifference and hatred towards one another the whole time, Malon had found his presence comforting. She’d missed him, and he reminded her of Time, and better days.
She only wished she could have spoken to him more. It didn’t take superpowers for her to see that he was barely holding it together.
“...Hello?”
Malon stilled, and raised her head, looking around the tiny cell.
It was essentially a stone box, small with no windows, a toilet in the corner, and two somewhat-cushioned benches by the walls that Malon supposed were meant to be beds. A girl who must have just been asleep was sitting up on one of them, holding her arm tight to her chest as she looked warily at Malon.
The girl couldn’t have been older than Legend, though her face was worn in a similar way that made Malon’s heart pang. Her blonde hair was messy and was trying to hang in her face, but her indigo eyes were sharp in the artificial light, and watched Malon with a calculating look.
“Are you a super?” she asked bluntly, and Malon blinked, then smiled, easing up to her feet.
“Hello to you too. Yes I am, but with nothing that’ll get us out of here I’m afraid,” she answered, wincing as she walked over and sat on the opposite bench. “Is this room temporary? Or am I going to be here a while?”
“I don’t know. I’ve only been here for about a day,” the girl replied, holding her arm tighter to her chest. “And don’t worry about your powers being useful or not. They’re blocked in here.“
Malon hummed. “That’ll be hard to test, seeing as they’re animal related. But thank you for the warning.”
The girl nodded and messed with her hair, letting silence fall between them. Malon studied her again, trying to figure out if she really was the same age as Legend, and her heart ached at the reminder of her son. She hoped desperately that he and the boys had gotten away— by now they must be close to Sky’s, even if they were being cautious.
All of them except for Twilight.
A deeper pang of worry shot through her as she thought of her other son, and she bit her lip.
Oh Twi, please be okay...
Malon sucked in a slow breath, and gave the girl a gentle smile. “My name is Malon,” she said, in an effort to keep herself distracted from her worries. Being anxious about her family wouldn't make them any safer. “How about you?”
“...Zelda,” the girl said quietly, then shrugged. “Or Zel. Or Zellie. Or Fable.”
“Fable?”
Her mouth quirked up. “I know another Zelda, we did nicknames to make it easier. Somehow that was just what got picked. It’s what I tend to go by, honestly.”
Malon smiled. “I know how that goes. I have two sons named Link, and more Links beside that rarely go by their names. Long story,” she added at Fable’s confused look.
Fable sighed and leaned against the wall. “Well, I’ve got time.”
“I was hoping to use mine to somehow get out of here,” Malon said with a glance around, and Fable closed her eyes.
“You’re welcome to try, but I’ve had no luck. I’ve gotten food once while I’ve been here, and they threatened to shock me if I tried anything with the door open. Not that I could with this,” she huffed, gesturing to the arm she had cradled to her chest.
Malon looked closer, and realized that the arm was swollen and bruised, the skin an unpleasant mix of purples and bluish-greens.
“Are you okay?” Malon asked worriedly, and Fable shrugged one shoulder.
“It’s just a broken arm. It got hurt in the fight before they arrested me, and nobody’s done anything for it,” she said in a pointed voice at the doorway.
The door stayed silent.
Malon frowned, and carefully stood and approached Fable, sitting down beside her. “...May I?”
Fable hesitated, then slowly held out her arm, the limb shaking a bit. Malon took it with a gentle hand, and studied it, feeling cautiously along the skin. Fable winced, but Malon made sure to be careful, and after a couple minutes, was fairly sure that the break was near the middle of her forearm.
“It doesn’t seem like it’s too bad,” Malon said, gently releasing her arm. “It’s swollen, so maybe that’s why, but I couldn’t feel the actual break. It’ll set easily if it is one, but we should probably figure out a way to get a sling for you.”
Fable wrinkled her eyebrows at Malon like she couldn’t quite figure her out, but she nodded. And she didn’t try to stop Malon when she pulled off the apron she still had on (she wondered briefly what had ever happened to the bacon she’d been cooking), and worked on tying it around into a suitable sling.
“So... what happened to you?” Fable asked after a minute of Malon fiddling with fabric. “If you don't mind me asking. You said you're a super, but you're not even in uniform. What did you do to get thrown in here?”
“Me? Oh me and my family have been doing a lot under ol’ Dark’s nose for a while now, and everything finally caught up to us,” Malon sighed, figuring a true explanation would take too long. Wind and Four alone would probably make Fable think she was crazy. “They came after us at home after we tried to help somebody. My family that was at the house made it away, but my one son was on duty... I don’t know where he is.”
Malon breathed out a sigh she told herself wasn’t shaky, and cleared her throat.
“How about you? What did a nice girl like you do to get arrested?”
Fable blinked, and looked down at Malon's attempts to secure the sling, not speaking for a moment.
“I fought back,” she said after a long minute of silence. “I just— I just hit my limit. I couldn’t take it anymore, what they’re doing, how they treat us...”
Fable’s voice wobbled.
“My... father died. And I know it wasn’t by natural causes, I found proof, but I couldn’t do anything with it. It was an official who’d had him killed, and I knew I had to keep acting like everything was fine like I didn’t know and I just... I snapped. It didn’t end well. Obviously.”
She swallowed thickly, and Malon, finished with the sling, gave her a gentle look.
“I’m sorry hon, that must’ve been awful,” Malon said softly, and Fable pulled her legs up to her chest.
“I've definitely had better days. At least I got to toss a few people into the harbor,” she murmured, then swallowed and looked away. “Do you... think your family is okay?”
“I hope so,” Malon replied softly. “Twi... Twilight— he’s my oldest— he’s tough, and his powers enhance his senses, so he should be okay. My youngest can turn invisible, and he has somewhere safe to go, and friends with him. I’m worried about them all, but... I trust their skills. I think they’ll be okay.” They'd better be okay.
I don't think I can lose anybody else.
Malon took a deep breath, and looked over at Fable, giving her a smile.
“And I’m not planning on sitting around here and waiting for them to rescue me,” she said firmly, and squeezed Fable’s shoulder. "Or see what sort of sentence or punishment either of us is going to get. I'm gonna to do my best to escape. You wanna work together and bust out of here?"
Fable looked at her in surprise, and hesitated, eyes scanning across her face.
Then her eyes hardened with determination.
“Yes. I don't want to stick around and see what they're going to do to us either. I'm in," she said with a deep breath, and Malon took her uninjured hand in hers, and shook it.
"In that case, we'd better get to work," she smiled, and Fable returned it. "What can you do, hon?"
And as Fable explained her powers, already looking less pale and defeated then she had when Malon had first been tossed in, Malon felt the hope that had started to dim in her heart flicker back to life.

You must read this headcanon!
So Zelda is pregnant. And it's canon that Link has an outrageous appetite.
Now Link is a great soon to be Daddy and does everything for his wife. But then she gets... cravings. Cravings that sometimes even shock Link. Why? Because she is carrying his baby and that baby, without even being born yet, has its Father's appetite. And Zelda eats for two, so her hunger is also dictated by the baby's hunger.
So randomly at night Zelda will be like
"Hey Link, I think I need a snack."
And Link is like "What can I get you, Zelly?"
"Oh just something light. A cake with bacon. Orange juice. Seared steak. Hot Milk and an apple pie."
Link of course doesn't hesitate. And he is only able to have a small share of all that food.

Oh are you and your sister close?
I don’t have many hobbies I enjoy writing and gaming. I used to play an instrument for the longest time but I gave up on that.
PS did you see where it was leaked Chloe and Zellie were supposed to be a thing and Chloe was basically confirmed to at least be queer?
-🤺
I'd say we are pretty close yep
What instrument? I'm invested noww
I have seen it! But i saw it on tik tok. It was like this casting card?¿ where Chloe was described and there was a sentence saying she had a crush or was in a relationship with Zellie (i have the picture in mind but absolutely cannot remember what was written in there)(i just know this part was highlighted purple) followed by something about how the actor should be able to sing and dance.
I cannot find it unfortunately 😭
Edit: FOUND ITTTTT
DAMN WAS LOOKING HARD
there you go
Tumblr media
im kind of wondering now why would there be Zellies part in the song if she was the daughter not Rapunzel herself

Just watched the music video animatic (Storyboard) for life is sweeter
Here is the link lol
If you don't want "spoilers" you can watch it now and read later idk.
First of all the thing that made me write this.
Is Zellie, Rapunzel or Rapunzel's daughter? And Chloe was definitely hitting on her! SHE LITERALLY HAD HEARTS IN HER EYES!
She stuttering "i-i- I think your hair is really great!"
AND RED REACTS WITH "smoooth"
CHLOE IS GAY. SHE'S A LESBIAN. LETS GOOOO LESBIANS LETS GOO!
(Of course this doesn't make her a lesbian, she could also be Bi or pan or whatever else but definitely sapphic. that's just my headcanon)
ok. Like I was shocked. Ofc Disney didn't stick with it tho
Second.
Tiana! Love her verse.
Why didn't they leave her in the movie.
She's an icon.
Third
Zellie again. Loved her verse too! But who is she?? Is she Rapunzel or is she Rapunzel's daughter? I mean it would make more sense if it were Rapunzel herself.
I NEED ANSWERS
Also her hair turning pink from the cupcake? Nice
Fourth.
Chloe again.
Not her crushing on a girl from the past 😭
That wouldn't work out. 😭
But like Red was also checking out Charming lol. (Chloe's face in that frame 😭😭 lol)
But she was just checking not really crushing.
Honestly I'm just rambling right now and trying not to repeat myself.
Idk if it makes sense.
But also Imagine if it is Rapunzel and then meeting her in the future. Awkward. But also I feel ya Chloe.
Fifth
The designs.
Most were cool. Some were creepy lol.
Like I found Chloe's hair cool! But I love her curls and locks more.
Also was the one person Ella? Why she look so depressed? Damn. Like the zoom in at her when Charming's part came.
Actually makes sense with her living conditions nevermind. Valid.
Also charming looks creepy.
Hades looks okay.
Morgie became He-Man.
Hook was fine. Reminds me of Harry. But the way they moved him was funny and His voice 😭 slay 💅🏼
And Maleficent was maleficent.
I LOVE THEM ALL. I'M NOT HATING ON THEM! it's just my thoughts! And it's also the storyboard. Which slay.
Also funny little mention.
I laughed at how Aladdin just flew in, took a cupcake, and flew away again. They probably would have talked in that scene? Idk but it was just funny. And the way he flexed 😭
Sixth
The left out/changed verses
Idk WHO said "Hey princess" but that was hot. and it was probably Bridget since it zoomed in on her. but idk the actual Person that said that
(Reminds me of Catra's "Hey Adora")
Also If Tiana is a Princess that means her and Prince Naveen are already together. Slay.
🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
CALL ME TIANA! I GOT THAT something water? RUNNING SO DEEP IN MY VEINS! 🤸
I CAN JAZZ IT UP ✨
DON'T YOU PASS IT UP 🫣
WHEN IT COMES TO MY BEIGNETS 🤤
🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
I would never pass on your beignets 🫡
I like it more than "CaLl Us jAlAdDin" even if it was kinda cute and funny.
Would have been fire in the movie.
(if this would be in the movie and the jaladdin part would be the other idee, I would not want to change it)
Next.
"Oh look 👀 there's Zelly 😒"
Why does it sound like that. Is it only me? Idk.
🎼🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
I'm just like my hair 🤫
Don't fit in anywhere 😶‍🌫️
And I can't say I mind it 😙
NoOoO I don't 💁🏼
🎼🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
Go off, girl! yeah! Speak your mind ✨🤸
Beautiful voice, I mean for the whole song really. Don't know who that is tho.
After that is the iconic gay panic from Chloe 😭😭😭
Why did they cut it 😒😭 not slay
We need Sapphic Chloe! 🫠
"Looking Good Zelly! The sun shines a little more- *enter the VKs music*"
Very funny. Would have loved that cut off.
Next.
🎵🎶🎵🎶
All I have to say is 😀
Stay out of Ursula's sister's way 😄
🎵🎶🎵🎶
Maleficent 🤠 what. was. that. 🤠
I mean I love that you have more lines and also it's very funny. But like. Personally, I like that they didn't keep that. But also, like I said. Funny.
I mean if it were
'stay out of Uliana's way'
Wouldn't be funny
Wouldn't have minded if they kept it like that either, now that I think about it. Anyway.
Next.
I do like that Uliana already snatched one cupcake. But the way it is right now is great too.
And that they got hit with the cupcakes. But then again. It would be annoying to clean.
"Wait, that's too many!" From Brigdet. I like that.
I liked them chasing Bridget more but
Uliana just running at her and Ella pulling her out of the way which makes only Uliana fall into the Fountain that was behind them was also funny.
The End
Thanks for listening to my rambles! ✨❤️
Byeee
Well reading.
If I forgot any changes (probably) or you also notice something fun or interesting I would love to hear it!
Imma watch the other storyboards later.
Here the links if you haven't seen them
Red
Love ain't it .
Don't spoil me for those two please 👀.

Chapter 14: A Set Path
The sunlight was being hidden away by the clouds, reminding him strikingly of his days on the Surface a few months ago. It was still warm, almost too warm, but he shivered nonetheless.
Link and Zelda had been given some privacy as they’d walked away from the picnic site, instead standing on a hill overlooking a good portion of the field. In the distance there were many structures, some stone and some wood, some with people and some with strange animals.
“I didn’t think we’d be stuck doing this again,” Link finally commented, feeling Zelda’s fingers interlace with his own.
Zelda sighed solemnly, staring out at the vastness of the land alongside him. “I… didn’t either.”
There was no going home at this point. They both knew it.
“You sure this wasn’t part of your plan?” he asked, glancing at her. Given his earlier accusation, he felt like dirt even asking, but he had to at least have something to cling to.
“I wish it was,” Zelda muttered bitterly. “At least then I’d know what to do.”
Link felt… hopelessly lost. The words of assurance from the captain echoed in his mind, but what good were those assurances when Hylia’s own plan fell through?
Well. It wasn’t like Hylia had been perfect, he thought with maybe a touch too much resentment. He squeezed Zelda’s hand all the more, trying to push that out of his mind. As much as he tried to separate the two, there was no separating them. As much as Zelda insisted she was still the person he knew, that didn’t change the fact that her past was intermingled with something far beyond his comprehension.
That didn’t mean she still hadn’t used him.
What difference does that make? It was for a good reason.
A reason which had failed. But he knew that was his own doing, not Hylia’s.
Link’s gaze drifted back towards the stone pillars, towards the area in the center of the field where the other two sat. His successor and his descendant. The pair were eating quietly, one more eagerly than the other, but both seemed to occasionally remember Link and Zelda were there and would glance in their direction.
He supposed there was no avoiding them now. Not that he minded being near Zellie all that much, but goddesses above sometimes it was just too much hearing about all of it. As for his successor…
“Link, I…” Zelda started to say, her words lost in the wind for a moment. Link looked back at her, heart clenching at the torn look on her face. “I’m sorry. For all of this.”
“Don’t apologize,” he immediately replied. “This isn’t your fault, it’s mine.”
“But it all started with me,” Zelda noted quietly. “It all started with Hylia.”
Link bit his lip. He’d be a hypocrite to argue against her at this point, at least after all he’d said earlier. Goddesses he wished he’d kept silent. He tried a different tactic. “Whoever started it, I’m the one who—”
“Oh, just stop,” Zelda cut in tiredly, releasing his hand and hugging herself. “Please, just—I just—”
“I just wish it wasn’t like this,” Link finished for her, slowly wrapping his arms around her and letting her melt into the reassuring embrace.
They were in the future. The future. They were beholding the fruits of their efforts. Why couldn’t this just be a happy occasion? At least for Zelda – for Link it would’ve been beyond his comprehension, really, overwhelming and amazing and wild and wonderful, but… anything would’ve been better than this sinking realization.
It’s over. It’s finally over.
Zelda’s words, mixed with tears and choking on relief and joy, echoed in his mind. They’d thought it was over.
“What are we going to do?” he asked her.
Zelda shuddered in his hold, burying her face in his chest. “I don’t know. They… they don’t even know if the Triforce still exists.”
Link blanched, pulling away. “What? That was the entire crux of our plan!”
“I know,” Zelda cried. “I know! I don’t understand how—what—they said something about beasts, about those guardian things and the sword—”
“Fi? How’s Fi going to fix this?” Link asked. “Can she—is she even awake? Can she talk?”
He didn’t think she could, honestly – not based on her reaction when he’d held her at the festival. She’d sung, yes, but he should’ve heard her voice. Fi had said she’d go into an eternal slumber for the sole purpose of keeping Demise sealed away.
Maybe that was where they could start, then. Maybe something had happened to Fi.
“We need to talk to them,” Link said firmly, looking back at the pair again. His resolve faltered at the thought of speaking to his successor, as he didn’t really even deserve to, but Zelda’s tears motivated him well enough. If his beloved was floundering, he’d find a solution, because he would never leave her in such a helpless state.
Link’s resolve faded the closer they got to the pair, but it was too late by then. Zellie and the new Hero noticed their approach, watching them. As Link’s steps faltered from shame over his failure, Zelda took the lead, guiding him forward with a gentle hand. When the pair sat across from the other two, the Hero carefully pushed food towards Link.
Everyone stared at each other awkwardly.
“So,” Zelda said, finally taking the lead. “You mentioned guardians and divine beasts would help you fight De—Calamity Ganon. And then… you two would fight him? Right?”
Zellie looked at her Hero and then back at Zelda before nodding.
Link opened his mouth to ask about Fi and then found his voice not cooperating. He looked down, hands balling up his tunic and releasing it in anxious movements.
“And you need help with your powers,” Zelda continued.
The princess visibly wilted, looking down.
Link blinked. “What powers?”
Zellie and the new Hero’s eyes immediately went to him, widened as if he’d spoken some kind of heresy.
“I think she’s supposed to have the magic to seal him away,” Zelda answered hesitantly. “That’s what I’ve gathered, at least?”
The pair switched their horrified gazes to Zelda now. Well… at least Link wasn’t melting under their stares anymore. But why the faces?
“You—you think?” Zellie repeated. “But I—my prayers—”
“Look,” Zelda interrupted. “Let’s get this straight. Whatever prayers you’re saying, or anyone is saying—I’m not hearing them. I’m not—I don’t have that kind of power, to read people’s minds and stuff. And—and whoever you’re praying to, you’re doing it in this era, you know? I’m—we’re from the past.”
“W-well, yes,” Zellie acknowledged a little uncomfortably. But it seemed curiosity got the better of her, her eyes shining. “But—how—what is it like, where you are? Can you sense—I mean, you got here somehow, and—”
“I got here because of Link,” Zelda interrupted before hastily adding, “B-but obviously we were destined to be here, too. I mean—what else are the odds that we learn of the demon king’s survival just as you’re preparing for him? But I—this wasn’t my planning. I don’t know what’s happening. We’re trying to piece it together.”
Link’s gaze drifted towards the Master Sword, and he found himself making eye contact with the Hero wielding it. He quickly looked back at Zellie, who seemed simultaneously worried and fascinated.
“All my life, I’ve… I’ve had to try and teach myself this power,” Zellie said softly, her expression growing despairing, frustrated, before she looked hopefully at Zelda. “If you can… if Your Grace would be so kind as to help me… I…”
“I already promised you I would,” Zelda assured her with a smile. “Knight’s honor.”
Zellie blinked. “Knight’s… honor?”
“Oh. Sorry. Expression,” Zelda chuckled nervously, rubbing her hands together.
“Zelda’s a knight,” Link immediately said. “Not a goddess.”
Well. She was his goddess, but that was beside the point. The point was he knew how much this Your Grace nonsense was bothering her. He’d seen her tolerate it fine with Impa, but that was during her rediscovery of her past. She’d been trying to reconcile it since then, and Farore knew this wasn’t helping.
Zelda sighed at the bemused expressions they were receiving. “I… I am the goddess Hylia reborn. But I… look. I’m just… I was born a human like everyone else. I can barely remember my life as Hylia. I…”
“Why?” the princess asked before catching herself.
Zelda quickly waved off her apology that she was about to splutter. “Because I—Hylia, I mean—was killed. I—Hylia sacrificed herself to seal the calamity away until I could come back to defeat him with Link.”
Here she paused, looking at Link, eyes alight with love, face glowing with pride. Despite his own guilt and shame, Link couldn’t help melting a little at the gaze, smiling at her in return.
“Fascinating,” Zellie whispered.
Zelda and Link lost the girl’s wonder in their own attention to each other before his beloved finally smiled back at the other two. “If we’re going to figure out how to stop the demon king, we’ll need to see everything involved in this plan of yours. And as for your powers… my memories were awakened at the sacred springs. Maybe we could start there?”
It was interesting watching the princess’ reactions to Zelda’s words. She was delighted at first, and ashamed at the end. Clearly, her powers were a point of contention for her.
Link could sympathize. Goddess… he hoped she didn’t feel as he did, but he had a sinking suspicion that was indeed the case. How could she possibly feel such a way? It wasn’t as if her lack of abilities had caused harm yet, right? It couldn’t be any more catastrophic than his own failures – despite the obvious one, he’d also nearly let Zelda die at the hands of Ghirahim. Were it not for Impa in the Earth Temple, all would have been lost due to Link’s ineptitude.
And in the end, what difference did it make?
Link shook his head, squeezing his eyes shut. Stop. This isn’t helping.
He looked ahead again and saw the knight staring at him. Abruptly, he felt his cheeks flush and he looked down at his uneaten food. He hesitantly pushed it back towards the knight.
The pair stared at each other again before their gaze drifted to the plate. The knight hesitantly took the food back, eating it.
“Well, if you want to see guardians, I can show you some at the castle,” Zellie said eagerly, rising to her feet. “But the divine beasts reside in their champions’ domains. I can arrange for all of us to travel across Hyrule! It will—we can stop at the springs as well, but—you’ll see all that we have built, all we have prepared for the coming calamity.”
Link and Zelda looked at each other, surprised, before looking back at the princess. “There’s… more to Hyrule?”
Zellie practically glowed with pride. “Why yes, of course! Come, we must hurry, I’ll prepare everything!”
Well… at least they had a plan. Link rose at the same time as the knight, and the two nearly bumped shoulders, making Link stumbled towards Zelda. He was pretty certain he’d fumbled enough conversations today, so perhaps he’d save asking about Fi for later. But as the four walked, it was immediately apparent he was stuck lingering with his successor while Zellie babbled excitedly in the front of the group, nearly holding Zelda hostage with her conversation. Link found that he couldn’t help but stare at the blade, aching for its warmth, for Fi’s voice to echo in his mind and heart.
He felt so incredibly alone seeing her on someone else’s back.
Zelda stopped abruptly. “Oh! I almost forgot. We have to have nicknames, or this is going to get way too confusing. We have a few already – Dove, you’ll go by Cloud, and he’ll go by Champion. Now we just need to figure out me and the princess.”
Cloud? Link tilted his head to the side, raising an eyebrow at his wife, curious where that nickname had come from. He’d accept it, of course… did this have to do with the cloud barrier? Skyloft? Or was it a joke based on that story at the festival?
He felt a smile pull at his lips. As much as he’d shot down the ideas the princess had brought up about his existence, it was beginning to grow on him. He could at least garner some entertainment from the absolute ignorance surrounding his identity. Besides, he’d promised himself he’d buy into it the next time someone brought it up. It was too funny not to.
Helpfully, he added, “The princess said she’s okay with going by Zellie.”
The knight, Champion, stared at the princess a moment, and though his face was placid as ever, Link could sense some kind of underlying question hidden in it.
“I guess that just leaves me,” Zelda muttered thoughtfully.
“Your Grace… wants a nickname?” Zellie questioned.
“Of course I do!” Zelda answered sincerely. “I mean… we’re going to be friends! I don’t want you addressing me like some distant deity and the like. I may be the spirit maiden, but… I want us to be friends. This isn’t… this isn’t my…”
Zelda faltered, stumbling on words and thoughts, and Link watched her reluctantly. He wasn’t exactly eager to back her up in this instance – she’d spent their entire venture discovering her identity as someone else, and she had been struggling to retain her own self as Zelda since then. He wasn’t going to encourage her taking on a new persona, even if it was just a nickname.
“We’ll figure it out,” he finally cut in quietly just to move the conversation away from it.
Zelda sighed, shrugging, and the princess continued to lead them back to the castle. Link kept up this time, though, so as to avoid looking at Fi any longer. It seemed Champion always remained two steps behind his princess, anyway.
Noticing how the Champion lagged behind, Zelda smiled welcomingly and fell back so she could be in step with him, leaving Zellie and Link in the front. As Link looked around, he found other things to focus on. Like how distinctly open and alive this place felt while simultaneously… lacking something. The more he stared at the world around him, the strangely more apparent it became, and he wasn’t sure why he’d only just noticed it now, or what it meant.
This land of Hyrule was beautiful and vast, stunning beyond all comprehension. But the Surface that Link knew was brimming with something else in the air, the very fabric of the life woven through the land was teeming with magic and energy. Here, it simply… wasn’t. He wasn’t sure what to make of that. It felt like something had been lost while so much had been gained, and it suddenly made him pause. Perhaps this was what was lost when there was no trace of the Triforce, no guidance from Fi, with magic steadily draining from this land.
Link felt all the lonelier for it.
“Hero? Um… C-Cloud?”
Cloud? Oh, yes. That was him. Link looked somewhat reluctantly at the princess, waiting for her to continue. They’d talked so easily earlier, but he’d left that conversation rather abruptly. He hoped he hadn’t seemed too rude. Not that his conversation with Zelda had gone any better, though at least…
Wait. Wait. Had those two… had they been there? If that captain had heard his argument…
Oh goddess.
Despite his own feelings on the matter, the princess’ eyes showed only pity. That solidified his dreaded suspicion, though it simultaneously confused him – given how horribly he’d talked to Zelda, he’d expect disgust or disdain, not whatever it was Zellie was currently conveying.
Despite seeming to be practically overflowing with words to say, the princess faltered in her approach. Instead, she looked down at her clasped hands, wringing them nervously. Link wished he could say something instead, wished that he could maybe figure out if she truly did feel like she was failing because of whatever issue she was having with her powers, but… he could hardly hold on to any kind of assurances for himself; there was little way he could find a way to comfort her.
But Link hated to see her like this. He hated to see anyone he cared about hurting. And by the goddesses, he could see Zelda in every feature of this girl, in her blonde hair, in her intelligent eyes, in her love and pride in her people.
And he could see himself. He could see his sensitivity in her, he could see how the responsibility on her shoulders was crushing her just as his journey had crushed him.
Instinctively, Link reached out, letting his hand rest on her shoulder. Zellie jumped a little, startled, and looked back at him as he smiled at her. Perhaps he didn’t have the words to cheer her up at the moment, but he could at least offer support in other ways.
Zellie let out a soft sigh and smiled. “I can’t wait for you to see Hyrule.”
The words settled in Link’s heart, and he smiled in return. Despite his catastrophic failure, this land had not only survived but grown far beyond his ability to even fathom. And that… that had to mean something, didn’t it? If time and time again Demise had tried to destroy the land, and it had still somehow managed to turn into this, then…
Then maybe it wasn’t such a failure, after all.

The beauty of the castle gardens was terrifyingly diminished with the howls of anguish and anger coming from the royal horticulturalist as Mipha awkwardly sidled away from the newly tainted silent princess flower bed. She had escorted the Hero of Myth to the others before excusing herself, as she was not at all capable or important enough to be near a goddess, and had sought peace near the fountains in the castle grounds. Given the drama unfolding with other royal attendants trying to calm the woman, Mipha decided it was best to patrol the area.
Seeing Hyrule Castle was always an incredible sight, but the longer she lingered here, the more she ached for home. She missed her baby brother Sidon, she missed her father, she missed the flowing rivers and waterfalls, the diving places and beautiful scenery and mountains. Zora’s Domain was a sprawling city in its own right, but it somehow was far more homely than Castle Town, and it was less stifling than the royal halls. Perhaps it was the open architecture of her home, or perhaps it was the looming responsibility that hung heavily in the air here, a constant reminder of an evil that was coming.
It was no wonder Link had grown to be so quiet and stressed. Mipha would too if she were constantly living here.
The Zora princess leaned against a stone wall, hiding in the shade so she could enjoy the cool a little bit. She would be returning to the Domain tomorrow with her entourage, which was a relief. She would miss Link, but… well… duty came first. For all of them.
Her heart a little heavier, she tried to cheer herself up by finding her guards and attendants, when she instead nearly walked into the path of the goddess Hylia herself, and Mipha bit back a startled yelp as she dove for the nearest bush to hide in. She landed highly unceremoniously, feet in the air as she was caught in branches, hissing as twigs rubbed against her scales, though thankfully they could not cut through them. Mipha wiggled helplessly, at least tucking her feet in as best she could, before she heard gravel crunch and footsteps stop in front of her newfound prison.
When silence prevailed, Mipha turned her gaze as best she could, catching sight of familiar boots. She hesitantly whispered, “L-Link?”
Hands rested around her waist, making her heart speed up far more than it really should have (and oh why did that have to be the case, when they used to be able to laugh and play and push each other and fight as children and never was it so strange or awkward or different), and she was gently lifted out of the bush and placed on the ground. Link’s hold stayed on her as he stared at her, face calm but eyes soft, one cheek sucked in like he was trying desperately not to laugh. Mipha’s eyes looked frantically around them, and she was relieved to see that the rest of the party must have moved forward without him.
“O-oh, I’m—that was so incredibly—I’m very sorry, Link,” Mipha stammered, growing ever more frantic the longer the two of them stood so close to each other. Link’s hands slid off her waist at that, and he took a step back. Mipha cleared her throat and also mirrored the move, giving both of them more breathing room. “W-well. I. Yes. Thank you.”
Link watched her for a while longer, all earlier frazzled energy long gone. He was back to the stoic knight he always seemed to be, or at least most of the time. His eyes caught sight of something, and he reached forward to pluck a leaf out of her jewelry on her head.
Mipha felt herself blush in embarrassment at the reminder of her silly maneuver and even sillier predicament, and she ran her fingers across all her jewelry to ensure she was presentable. Trying to push the matter aside, she asked, “D-did… did everything go well with the goddess?”
Her friend nodded.
“Well, that’s good,” Mipha said with a smile. Then she shifted a little, heart growing heavy once more. “Link, I… I’m going to be leaving tomorrow. I… it was truly wonderful to see you again. I hope, perhaps, we can see each other again soon.”
Another nod was the acknowledgement. Mipha bit back a sigh. She understood, truly. But… well…
There was a way for him to ease up a little. But he had to agree to it.
“I was wondering… before I left… if—if, well…” oh goodness, this shouldn’t be so hard to ask! They used to swim together all the time! “I was going to go for a swim in the moat tonight. Would… would you like to join me?”
Link watched her a moment, and Mipha felt like she could melt into a puddle as he deliberated it. But then he nodded again, and her heart fluttered as a genuine smile pulled at her lips. She gave him a place where they could meet up, and he nodded, continuing along the path where the others had gone.
XXX
To say that he felt sure of anything in his life anymore was little more than a joke. Ever since his wife’s death and the prophecy, King Rhoam had felt like his life had spiraled entirely out of control. He had been an outsider to the royals, marrying into the family, purely there for support of his wife as she ruled the kingdom and served as a religious symbol and leader to their people. Yet her untimely death left him in charge, a man who had not been raised for such a rule, a man who had to do everything in his power to be the steady leader the people looked up to him to be, and to somehow raise his daughter to be just as wise and powerful as her mother.
He was failing, of course. As was Zelda. But Rhoam had continued to persevere, and if pushing his daughter to the breaking point was the way to protect her and help her grow, he’d be the subject of her ire. Despite it all, she had to prevail, even if he was failing.
But by the ancient goddesses, he had never in his life felt so utterly useless and lost. The franticness and demands that Her Grace Hylia had spouted during their conversation rang in his mind like a bell. Words of a mystical Triforce, something that was only remembered through symbolism and threadbare stories, made him feel far more incapable than he thought possible. How could he have failed Hyrule so? The prophecy had spoken of the solution to the Calamity being found under the ground, and the ancient Sheikah tech had been discovered buried in the earth. It had seemed heaven-sent solution, alongside the appearance of the Hero. Rhoam had just needed to get Zelda ready and it would have been fine. But what of the Triforce, then? The goddess seemed downright frantic at his lack of knowledge on the matter, and though she had promised to help Zelda, giving him hope, he still felt like he’d failed catastrophically.
He had to figure this out. A trip to the royal library was in order. To his surprise, the king found his daughter there as well. “Zelda?”
His dearest yelped as she whirled around. “Father! I was just doing some research and preparation. Her Grace, the goddess Hylia, and her Sacred Hero will be accompanying me as I show them the Divine Beasts and—”
The Divine Beasts?! What did that have to do with her training? Feeling his cheeks grow hot, the king interrupted, “You should be focusing on your duty, Zelda, not that of the Champions. Do not waste such prestigious guests’ time. I prayed to Her Grace for your sake.”
Zelda stiffened. “Y-yes, I—I know, Father, I just—they wanted to see them too.”
Oh. Well, then. The king found himself incapable of backtracking after snapping at her, and he felt all the worse for it. “When will you leave?”
“The sooner the better,” his daughter answered, regaining some of her excitement, though it was far more muted. Rhoam truly prayed that Hylia could help his child – the sooner she could discover her powers, the sooner she could be safe, the kingdom could be safe, and maybe… maybe he could attempt to rebuild his relationship with her. “I was thinking tomorrow, perhaps? But I wanted to plan the trip a little first.”
Rhoam agreed that the sooner his daughter could embark on her training the better, but he also felt his heart beat a little faster at the thought of such a quick departure. It wasn’t just his daughter with her appointed knight, a pair who could travel fairly indiscriminately and not attract too much attention outside of towns and villages. The two were safe together. But to include the goddess and her Hero… it felt nearly inappropriate to rush such a journey with them involved. Perhaps he should get the captain of the royal guard and arrange for some kind of escort?
The king left his daughter in peace to prepare, catching movement out of the corner of his eye, but when he looked there was no one there. Filling with anxious energy, he set out to summon the captain and then he could return to his own studies. Perhaps he should save researching about the Triforce for tomorrow… but no. He had to focus on his own duties as much as he pushed Zelda to focus on hers.
The captain of the royal guard came promptly when called for, and he knelt immediately upon entering the sanctum.
“Rise,” Rhoam ordered. “My daughter will be setting out with her knight tomorrow, and Her Grace, the Goddess Hylia, will be accompanying them alongside the Hero of Myth. I want to ensure their security is of paramount importance.”
Captain Abel watched the king a moment, stoic demeanor the spitting image of his son. The boy had come from a fine lineage of knights, and his father was no different. The captain was reliable, and Rhoam waited patiently as the man thought through the process.
“Your Majesty,” he started. “With all due respect, Princess Zelda and Her Grace Hylia are protected by the best Hylian knight in the land and the Hero of Myth and Legend, a warrior created by the goddess for the sole purpose of defeating Ganon. It would be a misuse of resources to send the royal guard, or even a battalion of knights, to go with them. We must stay here and protect you and the royal scientists, as well as their important work on the guardians.”
Ah, and this was where father differed from son. Link was a silent knight, obeying every command given to him. While his father’s loyalty was unquestionable, the man did what he believed was best for Hyrule, and though he would also inevitably follow any command ordered of him, he might offer a rebuttal first. Rhoam appreciated it, as his advice was usually sound.
Such as now. But the king couldn’t help but worry. “Surely we can afford to send at least a few knights, Captain.”
“I will do as Your Majesty commands if you wish it so,” the captain answered with a bow. “Where will they be going?”
“They will be visiting the Divine Beasts, as well as the sacred springs,” Rhoam replied.
Captain Abel remained quiet a moment, considering, and then suggested, “Perhaps we could request the Champions to accompany them? I can think of no finer protection.”
Ah, yes, of course! Although Rhoam had little authority to command certain Champions to act as guards for his daughter, they would be obliged to accompany Hylia, particularly if going to their own domains. Rhoam smiled at the captain. “That is a perfect idea, Captain. Please, summon the Champions to the sanctum. I will make my request to them.”
The royal knight bowed deeply before exiting the sanctum, leaving Rhoam to his thoughts. With the added protection of the Champions, the goddess would be both safe and honored properly. Perhaps it would help his daughter focus a little better too, as she often lost her way when left in charge of an expedition. Nevertheless, Zelda was the commander of the Champions, and it was good for her to travel a bit more with them anyway. Rhoam prayed it was enough. He would research tirelessly on other ways to help, however minimal it might be.
It would be enough. It had to be.

The sun hung heavily on the horizon as Link and Zelda sat side by side on stone that helped support the highest tower in the castle. After the fairly awkward picnic lunch, the group had gone their separate ways, Champion disappearing entirely upon reentering the castle grounds while Zellie eagerly said she’d plan out their trip and vanished around a corner. Link and Zelda had remained quiet for most of the afternoon, piecing together their resolve while still drawing strength from each other. They had silently grown tired of the confinement of the stone walls and climbed to the highest point of the castle. The air was a touch chillier here, though not nearly clear and relieving enough, but it was still better than being trapped inside.
And Zelda would be lying if she said it wasn’t beautiful.
The scale of the castle was all the more apparent up here, rivaling Skyloft in size, and Castle Town was nearly as large. Beyond the large protective walls of the town was the sprawling green beauty of greater Hyrule, and settlements speckled the area, promising of more to see and more to explore. Zelda could hardly believe it.
Link’s fingers settled over hers as he shifted his hand closer. Zelda glanced over at him, seeing the sunlight sparkle in his eyes as he gazed out in wonder.
This felt like all the times they’d sit together at the edge of Skyloft, having played themselves into exhaustion and silence. Link had always been a quiet one, and Zelda had never had an issue with it, sometimes enjoying the tenderness such silence could bring. She especially appreciated it on days that Groose was particularly loud and annoying.
But looking at her beloved husband right now reminded her of their earlier fight, of his words and the princess’ fears and the king’s request and her own anxieties. She again found herself wondering how she was going to juggle all this, how she could help the princess fight Demise, how they could even defeat him this time. At least with a trip to look at these divine beast things, there was a plan in place. Zelda could work with a plan.
Besides… maybe the springs could hold something for her as well. Maybe… maybe in the past… when she’d been Hylia… surely she’d seen this coming, right?
Right?
Zelda didn’t know what to do. She had no guide. She missed Impa so much it hurt.
At least I have Link with me this time, she thought, though there was a touch of bitterness to it. Of course he was with her this time – it wasn’t like he could escape this wretched fate, either. But honestly… she couldn’t imagine dealing with this with anyone else. As much as she wished Impa was here, she was forever grateful that Link was. If only both of them could accompany her. If only things could make sense.
But never mind that. There was a whole new world to explore. The Surface had been amazingly new and beautiful, and her restored memories had not lessened that. She couldn’t wait to see what the Surface had become now.
She tried to focus on that, tried to reorient her mind to recognizing that this wasn’t just a terrifying preparation for the war to begin anew. It was an adventure, and she would make sure it ended well.
But wait. Someone else had been on their adventure.
Zelda found herself thinking of her own people, of her friends and her father and the other settlers. She hoped and prayed they were alright.
And that they wouldn’t get near the Gate. Surely… surely they wouldn’t. There was no way they could. Groose was injured (Golden Three, she hoped he was doing okay), and no one else dared enter the Sealed Temple.
She hoped the guards she asked for would keep the place safe.
Zelda leaned over, letting her head rest on Link’s shoulder, and her husband settled his head atop hers. Tomorrow was going to be the start of something entirely new, and she was glad they would face it together.
“I love you,” she whispered.
Link turned his head to nuzzle into her hair a little more, and his arm moved to wrap around her. “I love you too.”

Hyrule Castle hummed with anticipation as the last rays of sunlight seeped out of the sky. Champions genuflected to the king, spoke with their guards and servants, and prepared themselves for the honor of accompanying a deity. The princess of Hyrule sprawled out on her bed, maps and books all over the covers, though they did little benefit as the girl’s head slowly plopped directly on to a book about the history of the Temple of Time, soft snores escaping her. The royal guards protecting the goddess’ quarters grew anxious as no goddess appeared, while two teenagers snuggled high up above the castle, enjoying the clear night sky. The captain of the guard prayed quietly in his quarters, dinner forgotten, as he thought about the trip the next day. The king moved restlessly through the royal library as he tried to find any clues of the Triforce.
Meanwhile, the princess’ appointed knight snuck around the castle walls, looking around the docks before finding a suitable place to strip off his shirt as the Zora princess waved at him.
The water was cold, and Link felt himself involuntarily gasp as he dipped his bare feet into it. Grabbing hold of his resolve, he leapt into the water, knowing the best way to adjust to the temperature was to just take the plunge. He let it invigorate him, startling all the worries of the day out of his mind as he just focused on swimming. Somehow, just floating in the water helped carry his worries away. He always enjoyed it.
Mipha giggled, catching his attention, and he swam over to her, smiling. They hadn’t done this in what felt like years—maybe it actually had been that long. He hadn’t realized how much he’d missed it until just now.
“Oh Link,” Mipha said happily. “I’m so glad you could join me!”
Link’s smile grew, and the princess took that as a cue to continue.
“King Rhoam asked for me,” she noted, catching his attention. “Alongside all the other Champions. He asked us to accompany you and the princess as she took the goddess Hylia around Hyrule. I could hardly say no to such a request, but—oh, Link, how can I even get near such a being? Surely I’m not worthy of that. Do you think she’ll go in a carriage or something? At least that way she’ll never see me.”
Link stared at her a moment, letting the words flow through him like the water. The king wished the Champions to go with them? That wasn’t unreasonable, but it certainly changed things a little. Mostly for the better, honestly.
Except for Revali. Ugh. Great.
But having Mipha around would be nice. And Princess Zelda would appreciate Chief Urbosa’s company. Not to mention Daruk’s company would be nice. Though… Link wasn’t sure how Hylia or her Hero would take it.
But Mipha’s concerns registered in his mind, and he shook his head. In the solitude of the castle waters, he didn’t have to hide himself, though the paranoia persisted despite being with his friend. He pushed himself to speak freely. “She’s… not what I expected. I don’t think she’ll dislike you, Mipha.”
“Perhaps,” his friend agreed uncertainly, eyes looking at the moonlight dancing on the water.
“Nobody could dislike you,” Link reassured her, swimming a little closer and sinking into the water so he ended up in her line of sight. Mipha giggled at him as the only part of him that was visible above water was from his nose to the top of his head. She dove abruptly, and Link followed suit, the pair smiling at each other as they swam in circles. It almost felt like they were kids again, playing in Zora’s Domain while Link’s father was assigned there. It almost made him forget everything that was happening.
Almost.
Though, now that he had stepped away from the others, now that he was allowed to just have some simple fun and be with a friend, his mind felt much clearer. The usual immense weight on his shoulders felt a little less heavy, even just momentarily. While Hylia herself was still quite the mystery, her Hero was less so. And while Link still felt a little intimidated approaching him or Her Grace, he could at least draw courage from the fact that neither of them hated him.
He hoped the trip would be fruitful for Zelda. He truly did. The poor princess deserved it.
But what else would this trip bring? What could Link possibly contribute to it? Nothing, he supposed, except for his protection, as always. He supposed that was enough.
As Link and Mipha breached the water’s surface, he glanced back at the castle, wondering what this journey would bring. The playful moment was gone, Mipha stilled beside him, and then she said quietly, “The Calamity draws ever nearer… but Link… we have so much going for us. It must all end well, right?”
I don’t know. He truly didn’t. But… he nodded nonetheless. Because Mipha didn’t need to worry, and honestly, Link would do everything in his power to ensure that Calamity Ganon would be defeated. That had always been enough.
“I pray it will,” Mipha continued, before smiling gently at him. “I will strive to improve my fighting abilities in the meantime. I hope Her Grace and the Hero enjoy seeing the Domain—oh! Oh, I must send word to my father! We can’t be unprepared over such a visit!”
And just like that, his friend was in a frenzy, fretting about divine visitors and speaking about how Zora’s Domain should be ready. Link followed her back to the shore, somewhat amused—he was pretty certain there was nothing she could do to alert her father at the moment, but he was no stranger to worrying over everything and nothing in the middle of the night—and the pair snuck back into the castle. Link tried to hide his shivers as he crept along, listening to water drip off them both on the cobblestone.
“Oh, you’re freezing!” Mipha fretted, immediately grabbing him and holding him close. Link felt his heart skip a beat and by the goddesses he wished he didn’t—they’d done this as children; all the Zora had huddled together for warmth when exiting frigid waters. As children they weren’t quite adept and regulating their temperature, and they knew that Link himself was not capable. But it felt—now it was—
Link swallowed, feeling his cheeks warm up far faster than the rest of him, and Mipha froze. The two locked eyes for a moment, and the Zora princess immediately spluttered and stumbled back so quickly she nearly fell into yet another plant. Link reached out automatically, catching her by the wrist, and she hastily said, “I m-must go, I’m so very sorry, Link, good night!”
The young knight watched his friend practically flee indoors, and he felt… he didn’t know. Guilty? Sad? Embarrassed? All three?
He sighed as his gaze drifted upward along the castle. The worries from a moment ago bled out of him easily as anxieties over tomorrow filled the void. He didn’t think he would be sleeping much tonight. But the focus was back on Princess Zelda, where it belonged. He was there to fulfill a duty as well, but it didn’t require attention or scrutiny. He could guard and watch. He could do that.
He found himself wondering if the Hero of Legend would do that as well. He found himself wondering what he was even supposed to do with that Hero.
He didn’t know what he was supposed to do anymore, honestly. And while he no longer held any worry that his predecessor hated him, he certainly had little idea of how to help him. Assuming he even needed help.
It was all just… confusing. If this trip was fruitful in any way, he hoped it would at least make things less confusing.
I suppose I’ll find out, he thought as he followed Mipha’s wet footprints inside the castle, slipping back into the façade of the perfect soldier.
