Favorite non ifukube kaiju composers?

I mean, they all tend to be pretty great.

Michuru Oshima might be my favorite. She isn’t just a fantastic composer, but also a wonderfully sweet person too. I’m in the planning stages of making a whole video about her music and how brilliant it is. I mean, just listen to it. 

Masuru Sato’s scores are part of what make Fukuda’s Godzilla movies so wonderful. Take Son of Godzilla for example. Mechagodzilla too.

I think Sugiyama is retired and he probably doesn’t ever have to work again because of all those Dragon Quest dollars, but I really wish he did more kaiju movies. His score is just as unique and exciting as Godzilla vs. Biollante itself. Asuka’s theme and the Super X theme are just perfect.

Y’all thought I’d sleep on Gamera with this post? Nah, son. Otani’s G3 score is especially powerful. Oh yeah, I guess he did a Godzilla movie too.

And how could I not mention Sagisu? The lack of music in many scenes is part of what gives Shin Godzilla its signature sterile, almost documentary-like feeling, but every track he wrote for that film is masterful. The guy is on another level. 

Oh, I should mention Love & Peace too. You need to watch Love & Peace. おまえを忘れない。

Fan fiction tag

Howdy, Jen Campbell (a youtuber) did a Fanfiction tag video. And it looks like fun. So I guess that I’ll try to do it.  

Question 1 Do you read or write fan fiction and why?

Answer: Yeah, I read and write fan fiction. I write it because I kind of suck. And fan fiction is a space where my work is tolerated. Oh, and I read fan fiction for a veriety of reasons. First off, fan fiction authors are Amazing!!!!!!  Second off, Its really cool to see more representation in series I like.  More Queer characters, more characters of color and more disabled characters!!!!!   Also cross overs are the best!!!!!!!!!!!

2 How and when did you discover fanfiction? How old were you?

Oh, and I discovered fan fiction when I was about 16. 

3 How has fandom and fiction evolved since you found it?

Oh, well, when I found it I um . . . wasn’t really embedded into the community. So I can’t really say.  But, I do that now Academia is getting pretty interested in Fan Fiction.  You can actually find academic journals that cover fan fiction and fandom spaces. And the head of my universities undergrad Gender Study Program, Professor Kim Hackford-Peer, is utterly fascinated by the work thats being done in Fandom spaces. She’s the one that made adapting Pax Lunae part of my curriculum (Its due the next time that I have a class with her). 

4 Do you still engage with it in the way you used to?

I don’t really engage with it the way that I used.  When I first started out there was a fire in me.  I used to really want to make tons of fan fiction. Crank it out like lightening.  And I used to read so much stuff, and comment a ton.  Now, I’m sort of burnt out. I’m trying to create quality work and I am failing.  I’m trying to review more, but I am failing.  I keep on failing.  I’ll keep on trying.  No excuses. 

5 Which fandoms do you enjoy reading/writing? (Harry Potter etc)

I love to read cross overs between Mass effect and other series. Because I love to see how different technologies interact with each other.  Which is also why I love cross overs between Warhammer 40k.  I’m a huge nerd. So that stuff drives me crazy.  Oh, and also I have a massive soft spot for Sailor Moon fan fiction since I love the characters. And yeah, like most people I enjoy a good Harry potter fic too.    

When it comes to writing I’m a bit different. I do write (or more accurately fail at writing) sailor moon stuff, and of course I have tried to write sci fi stuff (and failed at that too), but I also have dabbled in writing for fandoms like Rosario plus vampire as well.  No excuses. 

6 Who are your OTPs? (One True Pairings)

Oh, well, where to start. I ship Lex/Superman together . And also there’s the Sailor Moon Outer guardian OT3 of Haruka, Pluto, and Michuru. Then there is Usagi and Mamo-chan, and the equally standard Rei/Minako.  Sorry that all my OTP’s are so boring. 

7 Have you told anyone that you write fan fiction?

Yeah. I’ve told people that I write fan fiction.  My older sister teases me about it. I’m just glad that my mom doesn’t care.  

8 What does fan fiction mean to you?

Community.  I met my mentor through fan fiction. So I’ll always have a soft spot for it. And  when I talked about fan fiction with my professor I was letting them in. Showing them something that was really important to me. 

9 Do you prefer canon-based fanfiction or AU? (so fan fiction that slots seamlessly into the original story or ‘alternate universe’ fanfiction where the world is slightly different)

I guess that I prefer cannon based fan fiction.  

10 Tell us about a fan fiction you’ve either read or written 

Age of Aquarius by TheElephantInThePrideParade is the best story ever.  It is so well made, and it every one is in character, and it is just so amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Its a continuation of the sailor moon that explores what life would be for the Senshi after they defeat Sailor Galaxia.  This story is better then Cannon!!!!!!!

Oh, and I tag The Quidblr. Because they are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm. S has the same song but performed differently. I don’t think I like it compared to the first version. The visuals are nice though. The title cards are new too.

Huh. Usagi and Minako are being dumb but Rei is just smiling instead of getting angry. Did she finally mature?

Did Rei and Usagi already forget that they all already knew Usagi and Mamoru got married and had a kid?

Oh, the new opening has Usagi with a crescent moon on her tiara instead of the red jewel, which means they’re going to have to redo the “in the name of the moon” stock scene with the change. I actually haven’t paid attention if they changed her broach or not for her Crystal pendant.

So is that actually her star seed or something else entirely?

literally every season Usagi gets so happy she doesn’t have to fight anymore, only for a new threat to show up :(

bruh. what. why is there a big deal about Usagi and Mamoru kissing? They’ve kissed several times already. Also they called out the age gap again, I forgot about that. But should’ve Usagi be 16 already, not 15? The first ep took place before her birthday in june, and there’s already been 2 winters and a new school year, so she shouldn’t be 14 still??

“A kiss on the forehead signifies friendship” ??????????? what friends are kissing their foreheads. Both parents and lovers do that, not friends.

You know, I know she most likely won’t appear til later on in the arc because I know she has one of the talismans, but they should’ve included Pluto in the intro, unless they’re are and are going to add Saturn too.
