when my sister worked at wendy’s she had a manager that was an alcoholic and would be sitting at his desk in the back puking in a trash can every night going through alcohol withdrawals. he also lived in a tent in his mom’s front lawn with his girlfriend because he lived with his mom and the mom “wasn’t comfortable” with the girlfriend being inside the house. and he was in his mid-to-late thirties too. and i can’t remember if it was him or the other guy who would tell everyone who worked the drive thru to drop customers’ change on the ground on purpose but make it look like an accident because most of the time they wouldn’t bother picking it up and then he could go out later after they closed and grab it himself. the other guy also told her that testing positive for covid and showing proof of that “wasn’t an excuse” and he expected her to come in to work anyway. and this wendy’s is of course also where she met not only KEVIN but also kevin’s cousin who recently got arrested for killing a guy

Warning: kidnapping, school shooters that are kids, gang recruiting of young kids.
"I'll drop Damon at school then I'll met you at work". You spoke to Kevin while stuffing Damon's books into his backpack as he ate his breakfast.
"Sounds good". Kevin mumbled with a mouth full of food.
"Lovely". You rolled your eyes with a laugh. Kevin pulled you into his arms.
"I'll see you then sexy mama". He kissed your lips.
"Gross, I'm trying to eat and I want to keep it down". Damon scoffed and grabbed his bag off the counter. You giggled into Kevin's shoulder.
"Boy, I'll remember that when you want to kiss your wife in front of me". Kevin patted your butt and he followed his son to the door. "Especially at your wedding. I'm getting up just as you're about to kiss her and go nuh huh, gross". He shook his finger in his sons face with a chuckle.
Damon stood there with a straight face. "Can we go now"?
"Yes, big baby". You had your keys in hand, grabbed another kiss and had your booty smacked again from Kevin before walking out. Damon groaned.
"Just get in the car". You told him with a giggle. This was one way to torture your son.
On the way to the school the ride was quiet, Damon didn't have anything to say which was unusual for him. Usually he's talking your head off but today was different.
Pulling up to the school you stopped. Taking your hand you gently took Damon's chin in your hand and made him look at you.
"You okay, baby"?
"I'm fine". He said with a sigh.
"If you want we can blow off school and go to the station. I'll call your teacher and tell them your sick or something". You offered, knowing he would jump at the chance to skip school.
"No thanks. I better get going. Love you mom". He put his backpack on and hopped out of the car, running to the group of boys that were huddled into a circle.
You watched for awhile seeing if something was wrong but they started laughing and playing around like normal teenagers so you let out a breath and headed to work.
Walking up the stairs to the station everyone was already working. You walked over to Kevin, wrapping your arms around his neck as he sat in his chair.
"You alright"? He rubbed your arms.
"Yeah, just worried about Damon. He seemed like something was wrong or concerning him".
"He's a teenager so it could be anything".
"He didnt want to skip school. He'd give his right arm to skip school and he has". You remembered when Damon broke his arm and got out of a test. He was so happy getting out of school.
"Oh. That's not good. I'll talk to him once he gets home. It'll be alright. Don't worry".
"I'm his mom. I worry". Kevin kissed your cheek and you headed to your desk to start the day.
Soon your mom instincts were right something was up but not with your son.
"Hey Kev, Y/N where does Damon go to school"? Adam asked from his desk while on the phone.
"That all boys fancy school. I cant remember". Kevin tried to think.
"Carters prep. Why"? You asked with a chuckle.
"There was a call saying there's been a gun man seen on the premises".
You didnt think, you just ran down the stairs and to your car. The team and Kevin behind you racing to the school.
"Please let Damon be okay". You prayed as you drove up to the school entrance.
"What's going on"? You asked the on scene officer.
"Four kids are missing and there's a gun man wandering the halls. We have the place surrounded but haven't seen any gun. We tapped into the cameras but there's nothing out of the ordinary".
"Four kids missing is not out of the ordinary"? You scoffed. This guy must not have kids.
"They could be skipping or just hanging out in the bathroom. Joking around".
"Either way. We need to find those kids and the gun man". You ordered as Kevin came up behind you.
"You're going to want to see this". Kevin's voice sounded distraught and it worried you.
Following him to the computer where Adam was watching the camera's.
"What's going on"?
"Damon was seen being pulled into a classroom. He wasn't fighting back". Adam gulped. Damon was his little nephew and he couldn't bare to think about what may or may not have happened.
"We need to get there. I don't care if you send just me. But one way or another I'm going in there to get my son". The panic was sitting in as you spoke to Hank. He knew it too.
"Alright. We all go in. Jay, Adam and Antonio take the front. Kevin, Y/N and I will take the side while the others take the back. Got it"?
"Yes, sir".
"You okay"? Kevin pulled you aside.
"Not until I get our son out and know that he's safe". You walked away, holding back tears.
"Let's move in". Hank ordered.
Entering the school, it was quiet and seemed like a ghost town. It had a eerie feeling as you walked through the halls.
"Which room, mouse"? You asked over your ear piece.
"Room 321. Down the hall and to the left". Mouse reported back.
The three of you tip toed down the hall, getting almost at the corner.
"Guys incoming. Gun man or should I say gun kid standing at the door".
"Kids"? Hank repeated.
"Yeah, he's wearing a school uniform. Looks about 14. Maybe younger".
Hank haulted everyone. "Mouse is there another way to get to the room"?
"Go back down the hall and take a right. Then a left. Then another left. You'll cut him off".
"Alright. Kevin, you take that way and Y/N and I will give you a go when we're ready".
"Be safe". You told Kevin. He sent you a wink and headed down the hall.
"I'm here, Serg".
"Alright. On my count. One. Two Go".
Hank and you rushed to the door. The boy saw you coming and immediately dropped his gun on the floor. When he saw Kevin walk up with a gun he laid on the floor and started sobbing.
Kevin picked the boy up and handed him over to a uniform that came in.
"Is there any more in there with guns"? Kevin asked the boy.
"One more. We didnt mean anything by it. They said we could get in". He cried.
"Get in? Get in what"? You questioned.
"The gang. We were told that if we took over the school they'd let us join them. They gave us the guns. I didnt want to do but Marus said we had too".
"Marcus Turner"?
"Yeah".
The officer took the boy away from more questioning.
"Turner's recruiting boys from private schools now"? Hank scoffed.
"The kids on the streets know to stay away from him if they want to live to see tomorrow". Kevin replied.
"What's our son have to do with Turner"?
"He's has cops for parents. What's most street thing you can have in your crew? A kid that has cops as your parents. Its saying screw you".
"I'm going to kick that kids butt". You growled.
"Okay. Let's move in". Hank opened the door and there was Damon on the ground with two other boys while another stood there with a gun.
"Drop it now". Kevin ordered. You ran over to Damon.
"Are you okay"? You checked over him. He seemed fine.
"I'm alright. Have a headache". He groaned as he rubbed his head.
"What happened"? You asked the boys around him. While Kevin cuffed the boy with the gun.
"Damon didnt want to come so Jason smacked him with his gun and dragged him in here". One boy said.
"Okay, let's get you to an ambulance". You helped Damon up and got him out of the school to an awaiting ambulance.
"He may have a concussion. He needs to be looked over". The EMT said. You nodded and held Damon's hand.
"I'm sorry, mom".
"Theres no need to be sorry. You didnt know this was going to happen".
"I did".
"What"? You asked shocked.
"I knew they were coming with guns. But I thought they would chicken out because when Marcus gave them the guns Jason peed his pants. I didnt think they would do this. We were just joking about getting into the gang".
"Do you know what could have happened if they actually shot and killed someone? You could have prevented this by telling me or your dad. Damon I'm very disappointed in you. I put you in private school so you would stay away from drugs and gangs but you directly went to one and tried to get involved. This is not you". This was not your son and you couldnt believe that he was one of five causing this.
"I'm sorry mom. I really am". He cried.
"We have taught you from right and wrong. We taught you to never go near a gun. We told you about what drugs and people like Turner could do to you but you completely ignored it and now you're in a mess of trouble. There will be serious consequences for this and I hope Voight doesn't go easy on you".
"I'm sorry". He cried harder as they loaded him into the ambulance. Kevin came up behind you wrapping his arm around your shoulder.
"Did do go wrong with him"?
"No. We lead him in the right direction but peer pressure is more powerful than a parents love". Kevin held you tightly.
After Damon was checked out and seen that he was going to be okay. He was made to write an apology letter to the school and the community. Hank made him do community service with ex gang members. They told him about why they got out and why they wished they never got in. He washed all the police vehicles and helped out at the station never leaving your sight. Kevin and you kept a better eye on him and his so called friends.

Deli
hey here's another fic! 😊i don't know why, but i really like writing them when they are broken up???? because i can write sexual tension and obvious feelings 😝 this one isn't anything special, i personally like stories where other characters figure out about a relationship, or in this case, a past relationship :-) hope you all enjoy! i don't own anything! ——————— A few days after the case was closed and everything was sort of starting to go back to normal, Cathy's parents called again to offer Firehouse 51 and others to come back their deli for sandwiches and more. They all gladly took them up on their offer, setting aside a day when everyone was off and could enjoy their time together as well. When Sylvie arrived, she wasn't surprised to see most of the Intelligence Unit in the building. A notable absence was Al Olinsky, but that was completely understandable. After all, it has only been days since his daughter died. Sylvie internally sent a little prayer to him, can't even imaging what he was going through. She has never been to this deli, but it sure smelled amazing. She eagerly got in line behind Hank Voight, who was in the middle of ordering. They have never really interacted before, so Sylvie was glad they didn't have to deal with any awkward silences. Though Antonio had told her multiple times during their relationship that Voight wasn't a bad guy, she couldn't help but feel intimidated every time she was near him. All the interaction they had while the leader of the Intelligence Unit was awkward eye contact and a gruff 'hello' coming out of his mouth. Sylvie voiced her own meek hello in return. To her relief, the worker handed him his sandwich, and he walked away, heading towards a table occupied already by Jay, Erin, and Kevin. She went forward to place her order, and after a minute or two, she was given her sandwich and a side of salad. "Thank you." She gratefully told the worker, who gave a friendly nod in return. Right when she turned around, she spotted a table in the corner where Matt and Gabby were residing. Perfect. They looked up when she approached, both giving a friendly greeting. "I've been hearing how good these are, I can't wait to take a bite!" Sylvie said, full of anticipation. She couldn't even wait for their reply, taking a huge bite out of her sandwich. "Does it meet your expectations?" Matt asked, his voice filled with amusement. Next to him, Gabby was rolling her eyes, trying to stifle a laugh. Her face started to turn red with embarrassment, as she focused on swallowing before answering Matt's question. "Yes, yes it did, actually." She mumbled, going for another bite as she ignored their laughter. The sandwich was delicious, she made a mental note to remember to come back in the future. "In all seriousness though, this is really damn good." Gabby pointed to sandwich, before taking a large bite, some mustard getting on her chin. This time it was Sylvie's turn to poke fun. "You sure have a beautiful wife, Matt." She giggled, it turning into a snort when he wrapped his arm around his wife's shoulder to pull her in for a smacking kiss on her check, despite Gabby's protests. "Yep, I sure have a keeper." He handed Gabby a napkin, which she gratefully took to wipe the mustard off. She then jokingly shoved Matt off of her, saying that she needed space while she ate. "You two are disgusting." Sylvie shook her head, beginning to eat her salad. "Oh, come on, Brett. You know you're jealous." Matt winked, before turning his attention back on the food in front of him. She stuck her tongue out at him, wondering if today was pick on Sylvie Brett day. "Ha, ha. Very funny. I am actually enjoying single life very much, matter of fact." Gabby rose her eyebrow at her, reminding her of what she had just told her friend just a few weeks ago, about wanting to find her own Casey. Sylvie's face flushed at the memory, hoping Gabby's husband wouldn't see through her facade. Luckily, Matt seemed to have no clue that she was practically lying through her teeth. While she wasn't jumping at being in a new relationship, Sylvie sure missed being in one. Or just missed Antonio. She didn't allow herself to begin pondering which was the right answer. "Married life trumps single life, I can tell you that with complete confidence." A smug Matt told her, taking a sip of the water in front of him. But he wouldn't be Matt Casey without a kind reassuring comment. "Don't worry Sylvie, you'll find someone. And they will be so lucky to have you." Did he see into her lie!? Sylvie stuffed her panic down, not wanting to cause concern. "Thanks." She settled for a simple, lame response, glad she had food in front of her to allow herself to not have to give a more detailed response. Shoving food into her mouth was a way more tempting option. As she finished her sandwich, she reached for her fork to eat more of her salad. To her dismay, however, the plastic container was totally empty. "I'm still so hungry!" She moaned. Plus she was finding herself becoming slightly emotional about the whole relationship and finding someone talk, food was her way of making herself feel better. "It's all you can eat, remember?" Gabby gestured to the counter where all the delicious food was located. "Go at it, sister." Sylvie eagerly got up out of her chair, picking up her trash to throw away. "Do you guys want anything?" She made sure to ask the couple. They both shook their heads, pointing to their half eaten sandwiches. "We're still working on our first ones." "It's not my fault you two are so slow!" She replied, before getting in line, which was much longer than the one she was in before, where only Hank Voight was in front of her. This time the wait felt like forever, making Sylvie have to remind herself that the deli was doing them a favor, letting them eat completely free of charge. With that reminder, she was able to be patient once again. Finally she reached the front of the line, trying to keep her eagerness under control. "Thank you so much!" She said before biting into her food as she began heading back to the table. "You guys, I think I want to marry this deli—" She couldn't help but swallow the large piece of food in her mouth full when she noticed that they had visitors at the table. The two attorneys from the case, one of them was Peter Stone, she knew that, as well as Antonio himself and his partner, Laura Nagel. And of course Antonio would be sitting next to the chair she was occupying. Meticulously, she didn't start choking. So she took her seat, ignoring how everyone was staring at her. Matt and Gabby with amusement, and the others, except Antonio, with curiosity. "Sorry if I interrupted anything." Sylvie apologized. "I–uh, really like the sandwiches." She explained, shrugging her shoulders with an embarrassed smile on her face. Antonio snorted, causing Sylvie to frown in confusion, wondering what that was for. Before she could question him, Gabby began to introduce her to the others. "This is my ambo partner, Sylvie Brett." Sylvie rose her hand to wave at them. "Sylvie, this is Peter Stone, Anna Valdez, and Laura Nagel." Each of them either rose their hand in greeting or gave a nod of acknowledgement. "Nice to meet you." She said, wondering if they would potentially recognize her name, if Antonio had mentioned her. God, she hoped not. But Anna's face turned into realization on a whole different area. "You're in my Zumba class!" Her face broke out into a triumphant smile, like she had just solved her own individual case. "I thought I recognized you." With that piece of information, Anna's smiling face she regularly saw at Zumba popped into her head. She couldn't believe she didn't recognize her. They were barely acquaintances, having only exchanged a few words a couple times before. But this simple connection was enough to make Sylvie feel slightly connected to the woman. "Oh! I do remember you now! Funny world, isn't it?" She laughed. The next time she went to Zumba she would make sure to dance next to Anna. "Yeah, it is!" Anna agreed. "How are you doing? I haven't seen you these past couple weeks at class. You didn't go off and actually get married, did you?" Her voice turned into a teasing tone. Sylvie would have probably found that comment to be humorous if her ex boyfriend wasn't sitting right next to her, who had never heard this specific story. Her throat suddenly felt dry, and she didn't know how to explain herself. Maybe someone would realize the awkwardness and change the subject— "Get married?" Antonio spoke up, turning his head towards her in confusion. "What does she mean by that?" Oh, great. She was in hell, for sure. "Er—" She was flustered, feeling like a fish out of water. If she was alone with Antonio, she might have been able to get her words out, but with everyone's eyes on her, she couldn't get her words out of her throat. Gabby took over for her, realizing that Sylvie was freezing up. "We took Sylvie out a couple weeks ago, she had a couple too many drinks, was planning on getting married to a guy from Canada. The whole green card marriage thing." She told her brother, explaining it way more eloquently than Sylvie would have been able to. Someone please bury her alive right now. Sylvie honestly wasn't expecting this disaster when she sat down, only minor embarrassment. But this surpassed all of her expectations. "Yep. Funny story, right?" She faked a laugh, trying to redeem herself. "Luckily Stella and Gabby were there to stop me. Haha." Anna then tried to make Sylvie feel better. "There's no reason to feel embarrassed, Sylvie. Everyone does those kinds of things after a breakup." Sylvie tightly shut her eyes, wondering if there was a place even worse than hell. Because she believed that she was in it. Next to her, Antonio started coughing as the water he was drinking went down wrong, probably influenced by the news he had just heard. On her other side, Gabby simply made a small gasp, anticipating what was going to happen next. Unfortunately when Sylvie reopened her eyes, she was still in the same place she was before she closed them. On the other side of the table, Anna seemed confused, as well as apologetic. "I'm sorry, I keep saying all the wrong things and—" Sylvie needed to set a few things straight in order for them to move on to hopefully a less cringing topic. "No it's fine, I know you don't mean it." She tried to assure the attorney. "It's just....um, Antonio and I used to be in a relationship," She gestured to the man next to her, who, like herself, seemed to want to be anywhere else but here. "And.....yeah." What she said had to be able to explain everything else. "Oh, God—" "It's fine, really—" "No it isn't!" Anna persisted. "I should have kept my mouth shut." She probably should have, but Sylvie wasn't about to tell her that. Ultimately, Anna had meant well. "Let's just move on, talk about something else." She offered, before glancing at Antonio. "I think we would both appreciate it." Antonio nodded in agreement. "Casey, how did you like that Chicago Blackhawks game last night?" Perfect. Sylvie internally fist pumped when Matt began to talk excitedly about the supposedly amazing game yesterday. The attention was off of her and Antonio. Then Peter Stone jumped in to talk about the game as well, which turned into an intense discussion about hockey. For once, she didn't even care. She would listen to any kind of topic if it meant that her relationship history wasn't being discussed. But even though it wasn't being talked about aloud, she was sure still thinking about it. This is the closest she's been to Antonio since their breakup. Other than telling Gabby to keep her eye on him, to make sure he's okay, she had made sure she stayed out of his life. Sitting next to him right now though, she had an immense urge to ask him how he was doing. How Diego and Eva were doing, how he was still settling in with his job. How he handled Lexi's death and the entire case. "Sorry." She leaned over and whispered, at the same time making sure she kept her distance. "It's fine, no worries." He responded, shaking his head slightly. Sylvie was about to turn back her attention to her sandwich when he opened his mouth again to speak to her. "How are you?" He asked, making his voice even softer than before. Everyone around them were in their own conversations, but there still was a chance of eavesdropping. She ignored these worries, focusing on her reply. "I'm fine." She said, giving him a brief smile. "And you?" She asked him the same question, unable to hide her concern. "I'm fine." He echoed her response, the corner of his mouth turning upwards with a smile. Her smile couldn't help but grow larger, finding this short, simple conversation to not be as awkward and horrible as she imagined. Or had previously experienced with ex boyfriends. She guessed it just continues to show her how much Antonio is different from everyone she has ever dated. He began to talk to Laura Nagel, while Sylvie returned to eating her food. They weren't getting back together anytime soon, but something was still there, and that was enough for her to feel peace.
