Review Response, Destiny #043
The count reached past 10, so here it is. Even with one review being for a chapter that does not exist (???), the count is still past 10. So... yeah!
1) You really made a bitch cry during this chapter, like damn I already guessed it but all my Hoenn favs lost in the waves. Just thinking about what happened to Tate and Liza who are even younger than emerald just haunted me. I had said in a previous review that emerald was gonna lose all his loved ones(by that I mean the ones closest to him) and that’s what happened. One can only pray that there’s even a hint of an ethnically Hoenn population left after this entire ordeal As for everyone else Red and Blue lost their bestie’s and brother but have each other, the Johto kids gained nothing and lost everything, Sinnoh kids are traumatized but otherwise fine, Black and White have each other, and X is probably a level of depressed incomprehensible for the human mind. This story was a fun emotional roller coaster and I’m happy I could be apart of the ride.
Ah, the review for a chapter that does not exist. Given the buggy nature of this, I will consider this review to be for chapter 43.
Emerald has indeed, lost everyone. In fact, if the epilogue scene played out like a video game and you could explore around, on the skeleton around “Emerald Gate”, you’d find a secret chamber containing a lot of worn out journals and two Soul Dew. ... Ouch, huh? And yes, there would be Hoenn population left, having evacuated to the other regions. While most of Hoenn cities have catastrophic casualties, the towns and cities near the fringes but away from the calamity (such as Fallarbor and Rustboro) would have most of their dwellers alive, just evacuated.
Red and Blue are happy (in fact, the popular “rivals” for that pairing are all dead) and will have their own happy ending sooner or later, the Johto folks got a doom ending, the Hoenn folks got a doom ending, Sinnoh got a happy ending, Unova got a happy ending, and Kalos got a doom ending. 3:3. BALANCE!
2) The chapter title honestly reminded me of Avengers: Endgame XD
And thank you as well! It's fun writing Ruby and Sapphire so I don't wanna miss the opportunity. Thank you again! TwT
(Still don’t know anything about the Avengers or whatever)
Thanks so much, Cap! I really love what you did for that segment, and I really appreciate it. I hope we can do something similar once again!
3) That was a great way to end, can’t wait for the other stories to unfold!
Thank you very much. Legacy will certainly get interesting later on!
4) Damn, pretty much all of Hoenn is gone. That's death on a far grander scale than anything I was expecting. Still, the ending is oddly satisfying. Hmm, not sure how else to word that.
Anyway, this entire story is awesome! Kinda wish there was a bit in the epilogue as to what happened with the surviving dex holders, but oh well. Amazing writing as always~
Destiny has the highest death count of all the stories I’ve ever written. Even in terms of named character deaths, SA has the most, since everyone notable in Hoenn are gone. ... It’s a good thing Emerald never got confirmation... “... Even the Shoe Store Guy...”
I was originally going to put in some stuff for the survivors, but they were kind of out of place and incorrect in terms of timeline, as Emerald would seal his two friends and a few days later, the survivors would’ve returned home for their happy endings or whatnot. And thank you!
5) Jeez, what an incredible story. I've been following this since 2014 & all I can really say is damn. Looking forward to keep reading your other stories.
Thank you very much!
6) Why have a cliffhanger ending without a sequel? It's not a horror movie.
Because it’s FUN! Hehe. In truth, I always liked the concept of a teaser ending, especially a teaser ending that shows a new threat/event that it not going to be elaborated on. At least not by the original creators, anyways. Besides, I did this once before back in SA. Never created SA2, you know. Same deal here. Hehehe...
7) Wow...
That was...
Let's just say, I was NOT expecting that.
At all.
Hehe... then it was as intended. Huhuhu...
8) Both of the Unova casts survived?! What is this blasphemy! Hooray for finishing Destiny, really good work. Cya at your other stories.
What a shocker! Black and White lived!!
Ahem. Okay, to be REALLY fair, I did intend to kill White in Destiny. In fact, the “fake Destiny” short story I made years ago (Short Story - Mercy) was supposed to happen exactly in the actual story. White gets mind controlled and convinces Black to kill her to spare her from the torture and to stop her from bringing Unova into ruin by pissing off Kyurem. I just decided to not go with it at the last moment to show some mercy, and because the Kyurem issue will be brought up in another story later on and I didn’t want a repeat. So... now you know! Hehehe...
9) As Ethan Kironus said, "Why have a cliffhanger ending without a sequel? It's not a horror movie." I freakin' hate when someone do that. I'm disappointed and will not read this story, and I regret I ever followed it.
I’m so glad you decided to not read the story after you followed and read it all the way to the very last chapter. Well done.
10) Heheh. You and your cliffhanger endings. They almost always end like that which perfectly sets up for a sequel. Then you never make it to leave us in suspense forever.
Okay. I feel really bad for emerald. Everybody he loves is gone. Like Ruby and Sapphire, he has nothing left. He chose the hard thing to do, however, and spend the rest of his life guarding the orbs. It’s pretty noble, and pretty depressing. At least the others got a somewhat of a happy ending...except for X.
Whats this? Black and White actually lived through a full story?! I didnt think it was possible!
I think this is the most people you killed in a story since everyone in an entire region died.
Anyway, great job with this fic! Its been a very enjoyable one, and I’m glad I got to read it! There truly aren’t enough good stories that involve the dex holders!
Hehehe... them teaser endings!! Though to be fair... I only did it once before with SA. But in terms of “plot based, long story”, there are... 3. SA, Destiny, Legacy. So... with 2 of those stories finished, and 2 teaser endings... 100% rate thus far. Ha!
Poor Emerald indeed. Lost Crystal. Lost Gold. Lost Ruby and Sapphire. Lost even the Trick Master. And later on, loses Latias and Latios. Poor boy. Curious that no one thus far had said “poor Sapphire”. And yes, X had a horribly sad ending too. Because he gets to go home and “bury” Y in Vaniville Town, which means he also has to talk with Y’s mother and tell her of Y’s death. Ohh...
Hehe. About Black and White... To be fair (again), the... er... misconception that I tend to kill Black and White a lot started with how I kind of... tossed them away in SA. And I only had them die in SA because they were post-plot-plan additions. Generation V as a whole debuted after SA started and its plans fully set. So the two did not have a place in the finale thus were thrown away. While it’s true that I bullied the crap out of them in DE, I didn’t really kill them much. ... I think. Ahem. Now, similarly, Sun and Moon both debuted after Destiny began. Which means if I decided to include Sun and Moon in Destiny, they both would’ve died in the final battle to increase the death count. And the misconception that I bully and kill the Alola cast will begin. Maybe. So... yeah. ... That said, I do find a bit of amusement in torturing Black & White, but... hehehe...
Not everyone in Hoenn died, but pretty much everyone. I think the population focused cities are Lilycove (doomed), Slateport (doomed), and Mauville (doomed), so... yeah. A LOT of deaths of faceless nameless people.
Thank you so much! I’ll see you at the other stories!
11) Sorry to give another review, but...
Yeah...
Like I said, wasn't expecting the ending.
The destruction of Hoenn was pretty much the death-wish I asked for. Thanks.
Can't be a 135 story without a cliffhanger ending, can it?
Anyways, as many others have said, the Unovan cast surviving was very surprising.
To end this off (for now), all I can say is that I'm glad I read this. Thanks for giving us a story that can make us feel so many different emotions. There aren't as many out there as there used to be, but you pulled through and that's what mattered.
And to the people who say that the cliffhanger ending was unnecessary... What did you honestly expect? It's a 135 story. Whenever you read one of those, you're always going to be left with one of them. And people actually can LIKE cliffhangers. I'm one of them. No hate to those who disagree with me. I'm just stating my opinion.
(To 135): I'll be back eventually.
You aren't getting rid of me just yet.
Thanks for the story.
You made the “death wish” years after I decided to obliterate Hoenn and its population. So... hehehe. Nice. Works out, eh?
Can’t be a 135 story without one? ... Ehh... maybe. I mean, I guess all the post-endings in SE/DE kind of do that too. Hehehe...
Yeah, yeah. Unova cast... the “usual” targets, apparently.
Thanks for the compliments!
And looking at it strictly, the loose ending is technically unnecessary. And do not cause disputes, s’il vous plait.
“I’ll be back”. ... Do not drive a vehicle through a building? (REFERENCE!)
Well then. I will wait. Thank you!

great ball, master ball, moon ball, friend ball, heavy ball, fast ball, repeat ball, nest ball, dive ball, dream ball 4 poke ask ;p
Thank yooouuuuu!!!~
Ultimate Pokémon Questionnaire!
Great Ball: FavouritePokemon Game
Pokemon MysteryDungeon Explorers of Sky!!! THE BEST! BY FAR! This has honestly had animpact on my entire life! (I live by Grovyle’s“make my life shine” monologue honestly). It’s so BEAUTIFUL! It has so muchHEART! The plot is so GOOD with amazing PLOT TWISTS! (The plot also gets prettydark and complex for a kids game like I RESPECT this game!) Amazing characters, wonderful relationships, an absolutely gorgeousand emotional soundtrack, honestly such a beautiful story! I replay thisgame a LOT and it’s on my mind a lot too!
In terms of just the main series games, probably PokemonPlatinum! I have such a Sinnoh/Gen 4 bias honestly I’m not gonna hide it.
Master Ball: FavouriteLegendary Pokemon
Mesprit! It was the only Pokemon I didn’t kill in my firstPokemon game because I used the Master Ball on it. I already felt connected toit since it was the Lake Guardian near Twinleaf Town and appeared in front ofyou at Spear Pillar AND it seemed to smile before running away as if youchasing it was a game. It’s also very cute and a nice design and I like itscall too. I love Mesprit a lot. (I love all the Lake Guardians so much tbh butMesprit is my favourite).
Moon Ball: In thePokemon games do you prefer morning or night?
Morning definitely! The main question I asked my friendsthat got Moon was “How do you deal with it being at night so much in the game?”
Friend Ball: Favouriterival/companion
(This is the only one I’ve already answered I’m impressed)N!
Heavy Ball: Least favouritePokemon
This is pretty hard actually because I don’t think there’s aPokemon I actively hate and ones I don’t like as much I don’t think about asmuch?
Pokemon I can think of are Basculin, Simisear (I feel like I’mjumping on the band wagon since that poll that showed it as the least favouritePokemon but I remember getting a Pansear in Black, evolving it, and being disappointedand wishing I got either Pansage or Panpour instead), Heatmor (design wise anduseful wise I’m like ugghhh), Durant (same as Heatmor more or less but Idislike its design a little less than Heatmor) and probably Graveler (it explodesin the main games, and spams Magnitude in Mystery Dungeon to everyone).
Fast Ball: Favouriteway to get around in the Pokemon games
Flying using the move Fly is the fastest and mostconvenient.
It’s nice to ride Latios/Latias in ORAS since you can seewhere you are flying and decide while you’re up there and you don’t need aflying Pokemon on your team, it’s just annoying when I accidently use the fluteand I have to sit through the little cutscene (and flying on Latios/Latias ismore time consuming than regular flying).
Repeat Ball: APokemon you’ve raised more than once
Ninetales, Weavile and Hydreigon! (I’m not counting thestarters I’ve raised multiple times from replaying games).
I had a Ninetales in my team in Alpha Sapphire, and anAlolan Ninetales (named Victor) in Sun!
I have raised a couple of Weavile in several playthroughs ofDiamond Pearl, I’ve raised a competitive one in Sun named Kyle, and I’mcurrently raising a shiny one named Steve (to go with the shiny Sneasel that Inamed Adam).
I’ve raised 3 Hydreigon and it’s exhausting because it takes soooo long like omg you have to getZweilous to level 64 that takes forever.I raised one normally in Black, bred another one in Black that had the egg moveDark Pulse and was Modest natured, and recently in Sun I raised a propercompetitive one named Hilda.
Nest Ball: Favouriteregion
Sinnoh Sinnoh Sinnoh! I love it so much, I’m so familiar withit and its towns/cities, and I love the layout of the three lakes forming atriangle with the Mt Coronet and Spear Pillar in the centre. Cynthia is myfavourite Champion, Gen 4 is my favourite gen, and I especially love the Sinnohlegends and lore!
Dive Ball: Favouritewater route/area in Pokemon
Uhhhh this is hard because I generally don’t like waterroutes at all.
OH WAIT OH OH THE THREE LAKES OF SINNOH! Lake Verity, LakeValor and Lake Acuity! Lake Verity being my favourite because Twinleaf Town andMesprit.
Dream Ball: DreamPokemon team
Weavile, Luxray, Hydreigon, Mesprit, Ninetales and Milotic!

Episode 22
Scene 5:
[Ren and Latios land on a deserted piece of shoreline north of Lilycove and Josh is there to meet them. He climbs up on Latios’s back and holds onto Ren as they soar to Kagari Island. They land in front of the mansion and Ren knocks on the door, but Latios can already tell Zinnia isn’t there. They go in anyway to have a look around and Ren gets Josh talking about her as they search the place. Zinnia didn’t leave anything behind, but there is some subtle evidence she has been living there and recently. There is some food in the fridge and kitchen cabinet, toilet paper and towels hanging in one of the many bathrooms, a book sitting out on the desk in the study, and one music stand suspiciously free of dust. Ren and Josh meet up with Latios outside. Fortunately, it is low tide and thus he is able to fly the three of them into the Magma base entrance without dipping underwater. He once again stays outside as Ren and Josh use the gloves to teleport inside. The lights are on and the hallway looks very much as it did the first time Ren was there. There is a flash of red light behind them and Josh jumps, but it is just Tarahau popping out of her ball.]
Tarahau: Did you find her yet? How long is this going to take?
Ren: No and it could be a while. Sorry about that. I know you don’t love being in your ball.
Josh: When did you get a froslass? How many pokemon do you have?
Ren: A little while after the last time I was here and eleven.
Josh: That can’t possibly be right.
Ren: Some of them retired.
Tarahau: Can I stay out for a bit since you’re not flying?
Ren: Sure, but I’ll have to pop you back in for a second to use the teleporter pads.
Tarahau: That’s fine. Who’s this?
Ren: This is my friend, Josh. He used to work for Magma.
Tarahau: Really? Weren’t we fighting them when I joined?
Ren: Life’s funny like that. Keep an eye out for anyone else, would you?
Tarahau: Sure thing.
[They move off down the hall and Josh watches as the froslass floats ahead of them.]
Josh: She’s really pretty.
Ren: You like ghost-types?
Josh: Not as much as dark-types, but yeah, they’re pretty cool. And ice/ghost is a neat combo.
Tarahau: What is he saying about me?
Ren: He thinks you’re awesome.
Tarahau: Oh! He has good taste!
[They search the open rooms off the hallway, but find nothing. The last door is the one to the living room Josh spent all of his free time in and he pauses at the door.]
Ren: So how come the power is still on in here?
[Josh doesn’t respond and Tarahau taps him on the shoulder.]
Josh: Oh, uh, we have a tidal turbine so that we’re off the grid.
Tarahau: Why’s he staring at that chair?
Ren: I don’t know. Hey Josh, are you alright?
Josh: Yeah. I just used to read in here a lot.
[Ren translates this for her froslass as Josh backs out and closes the door. Tarahau’s first question is what books are and Ren explains. The teleport to the next section and the froslass pops right back out of her ball to ask what the books he reads are about. He tells her that a lot of his favorite books are stories about pokemon and she wants to hear the stories so he tells her about White Fang and Silverwing and Tales From Dimwood Forest and Watership Down and My side of the Mountain and Julie of the Lycanrocs. That takes up most of their time searching through the many rooms and corridors. Tarahau eats up the stories, often prompting Ren to translate as she becomes distracted by something or other.]
Ren: Maybe I should pick up one of these books some time. They sound good.
Josh: You’ve never read any of them?
Ren: I’m from Johto, remember? I grew up with stuff like Kemono no Sōja, Sorairo Magatama, and Brave Story. And I’m not a big reader, much to my mother’s disappointment.
[Josh cocks his head at her.]
Ren: My mother’s an author. She’s really good, but maybe not your speed. What’s this room?
Josh: This is the lab that made the magma suit.
[They snoop around a little and Josh stops in front of a peculiar and empty set of shelves.]
Josh: The other suit is gone.
Ren: There were two?
Josh: Yeah. Maxie had a backup for everything. It was right here.
[Ren walks over to look at the empty shelves.]
Josh: Do you think she took it?
Ren: I don’t know who else would, except maybe Courtney.
Josh: But what would she want it for?
[Ren has to think on that for a few moments.]
Ren: She’s going into space! She told us that her plan was to take Rayquaza into space and destroy the meteor! Wait, will the suit even work in space?
Josh: Don’t ask me.
Ren: Well, it does have a self contained environment and can handle extreme temperatures, so I guess it would help. Looks like we’re on her trail. [heading back into the hallway] Is there anything else in here she might want?
Josh: I don’t know. Could we go back to the part about her riding a god into space to destroy a giant meteor?
Ren: Oh. Yeah, she told us that was her plan to save the world. She destroyed the dimensional shifter because it would have just caused the meteor to destroy the Distortion World instead of our world. Not sure if that’s true or if she’s just crazy. How crazy did she seem to you?
Josh: There was something a little off about her. Everyone noticed but no one could tell you what it was. She’s really smart. Like she was always at least twenty moves ahead of me. It was a little hard to talk to her sometimes.
Ren: But lucid right? Ugh, none of this makes any sense to me.
[They warp into the next hall and start checking the rooms.]
Josh: So this thing with Rayquaza, is there any way it’s related to waking Groudon? Like, they are part of a trio…
Ren: Why do you ask that?
Josh: Well she was working for Magma and after Mt. Pyre, when I found out who she was, I asked her why. She said Groudon had to be awakened. So I just thought, if she knew this meteor was coming and stopping it has been her goal all along, then the two must be connected.
Ren: Rayquaza is supposed to make sure Groudon and Kyogre don’t rage out of control. She said that she failed to summon Rayquaza before, so she must have tried to get their attention by reviving Groudon! Josh, you’re a genius.
Josh: [flushing and muttering] No one’s ever told me that before.
Ren: Of course, that doesn’t answer the question of what her plan is now that the last one failed, but I’ll bet it has something to do with all those keystones she stole.
[Ren opens the door to Maxie’s office only to find Courtney asleep at the desk. Josh and Ren freeze and Tarahau peeks her head around them to see what is going on. Courtney lifts her head and blinks blearily at them. Her face morphs from exhaustion to pure rage and Josh recoils.]
Courtney: YOU! What are you doing here!
Ren: Oops.
Courtney: [eyes falling on Josh] And you! You’re a traitor!
[Josh tugs on Ren’s arm and they make a run for it.]
Courtney: [chasing after them] GIVE ME YOUR KEYSTONE! I need it! I won’t let Azalea—
[Her rant is cut short as they warp to the next section. Ren sends out Tarahau again as they run to the other end.]
Tarahau: Aren’t we going to fight her?
Ren: [stopping] That’s a solid point.
Josh: [stopping just ahead of her] What are you doing?!
Ren: I’m gonna fight her and bring her in. She stole my friends keystones.
[Courtney comes through the teleporter as Ren reaches for her balls. They both send out their pokemon.]
Josh: Does she still have them?
Ren: No, but—
Josh: [He has run back to her and is pulling on her arm.] Then let’s go! She has eleven pokemon and you have six!
[Taraki charges into the fray and Kotai and Pohaku block the half dozen flamethrowers that come his way with earthquake and aqua tail.]
Ren: Maybe you’re right.
[They sprint for the next teleporter and Ren withdraws all of her pokemon before warping away. The hallway they are now in shakes as Josh pulls her along to the next one.]
Ren: Thanks for that.
[Tarahau pops out again as Courtney comes through behind them and sends out her ninetails. It aims a ball of fire at them which is on track to hit Josh in the back head but Tarahau counters with a shadow ball. The two moves collide in the middle of the hall and the ghostly energy sucks in the fire and snuff it out.]
Tarahau: Leave my friend alone!
[The froslass’s crystals light up and she fires off an ice beam that freezes the ninetails to the floor. Ren withdraws her froslass as the ninetails targets it with a flamethrower. She and josh teleport away before the flames reach them and emerge at the entrance where Latios is waiting for them. They both jump aboard, which is a first for Josh given his aversion to flying, and Latios rockets out of the cavern. Flames and incoherent screaming follow them out, but Latios takes them up and out of danger.]
