“You do know this is broadcast nationally?” James had growled. “Nationally?”

Sirius fanned his eyes with splayed fingers as Peter failed to smother a snort. “Yup.”

“Christ!” James pushed his hair off his face, cheeks flushed as he groaned. Pete was nearly vibrating in his seat. “I'd managed to suppress that since sixth form.”

As there was a moment of reverent quiet, Remus faded in a jingle and caught Sirius' eye. After a few beats, Sirius interjected. “But why the nose? What exactly romantic about a lovebite on the end of a nose?”

“The heart wants what the heart wants,” Pete added as they stilled and the jingle played over a few more seconds of silence. Then the two men cracked up again.

“I hate you both.”

“No you don't,” Pete patted James on the arm.

“No I don't.” He groused. “But if you're quite finished mortifying me in front of the world?”

“Only the nation,” Sirius nudged James with a foot, stretched up across him and resting on the desk. “And that's bold coming from a man who used to be routinely upstaged each morning by a puppet.”

“Oh my god Peeves,” Peter wheezed, eyes still watery from his last outburst. “Do you still have him in the spare room?”

“First, you temporarily poach my marvellous producer,” James held up a finger. Remus bit the inside of his cheek to keep his laughter back. He swapped jingles, catching a wink from Sirius as he did so.

“Lily makes him keep it at his parents' house. Thinks he's creepy,” Sirius grinned.

“Then, you insult my romantic past,” a second finger was raised.

“He was creepy,” Peter pulled a face. “Had those funny googly eyes.”

“He really did,” Remus agreed, though none of them would hear him.

“And now you're insulting my career?” James ended his listing with a flourish of his hand. “Is there anything else you'd like to touch on?”

“Your wardrobe?” Sirius replied.

“Your hair?” Pete suggested.

“How now you get upstaged every morning by Sirius instead?” Remus blurted out, his finger pressed firmly on the button in front of him.

The three men on the other side of the glass blinked, before Sirius and Pete burst into bellowing laughter, sending them sideways and almost out of their chairs. James drew himself up in outrage, shoving away Sirius' socked feet which had found their way across his lap.

“Really? Really?” Remus felt his cheeks pink and a slight tremor start in his hands, but he couldn't fight a grin himself as he shrugged back at James.
