telling someone thats getting justifiably upset that “you want to change the world around you too much” is actually crazy. Also tracing and referencing are basically fucking opposites? Do they think that artists fucking practice anatomy and figure drawing by TRACING? Insane. Anyway keep doing what you’re doing, I can’t believe some people are so fucking stupid.
im mean by cultural heritage and some people bend over backwards to try and knock me down a peg as a result of that. like legit, im blaming it all on people having never talked to a dane before and being pissy cause i call them stupid. i refuse to believe that people actually believe the shit theyre saying anymore lol
someone (i think its the same anon you mentioned here) said the "kill yourself" comment was too far but tbh i feel like its a pretty reasonable response to a not-so-subtle attempt at gaslighting, if ever there was an appropriate time lmfao. in any case i just had a rare moment of getting genuinely pissed about it. as mentioned a couple days ago, mental eelness, ehh
im back to the usual bullshit tho we vibin'. i am determined to vibe

Two questions: are we gonna see some romantic rivalry between Eren and Colt in MM? Also, where is Zeke and Eren's family? (I hc Zeke traveling around the world in search of a cure for his baby bro's malady and that’s why he’s been MIA)
OH YES U BET UR ASS U WILL!! Here, I haven't really written much for it yet lol, but this has been sitting in my drafts for the next chapter for a while and I'm most definitely adding it in 😂
She’d told Eren very specifically to be a cat when she got home because Colt was coming over whether he liked it or not.
Eren is very much not a cat when she opens the door to her apartment and chaos ensues from the moment he opens his mouth, “Hiya Colt.”
Her boyfriend is flabbergasted to say the least, his mouth hanging open uselessly, looking between her and Eren, his brain trying to figure out who this is. “Eren?” He finally says, coming to his final conclusion and her familiar smirks, “That’s me.”
As for Zeke though, I actually don't know about Zeke in this fic lol, I'll definitely leave it up to your imagination for now! I think maybe I wrote one little throwaway about him but I can't remember what I said! I think as usual though I made him the problem child lmfao!

You TOTALLY did!! 😂
(More comments on your comments below.~)
So small spoiler: Frank's not actually shooting at her (you'll see next chapter), but he's the rescue team. (Again, you'll see -- along with "frenemies with benefits" lmfao, my favorite line so far in this fic.)
And Ben...oh Ben. 😭 He's most definitely NOT helping himself, even though he's suffering. The reader is doing her damndest to help him without getting a cell herself, but also, simply not compromising on her principles. She doesn't want this for him, but she's not letting go of the fact that he's a danger to others, and not yet willing to compromise. And he's not seeing her side either.
LOL and I figured it would be Butcher who would figure it out first. He's a perceptive man. 🤣 But you're right, MM is going to be the hardest one to convince that Ben's not entirely what they think he is.
The reader's tet-a-tet with Grace was very fun for me to write lol. Damn right "what's her body count!" She's been in this business for decades, shady-ass CIA agent. 🤣
Totally agree, the reader should've checked in with her mom and sister sooner (especially Louisa). But the reader ain't perfect either. Louisa will finally get her screen time in the next chapter, so we can see more of the reader's family dynamics! (While being hunted down by a mysterious attacker, of course.)
So glad you enjoyed this part! I update this story 1x a week, so chapter 13, "A Generous Deal," will be out by next weekend! 😘😘

Part 12: All Your Wicked Ways
Something was wrong.
It was a gut instinct, but yours was far too often right.
Ben had been sleeping for a long time. After he’d fallen asleep yesterday, you did shortly after from the combination of fatigue, pain from your broken ribs, and the painkillers in your system.
But even after your keepers had woken you with a tray of food, Ben still hadn’t woken up.
“Ben?” you tried calling to him, but he didn’t rouse from where he laid in his cot, one arm pillowed behind his head and the other across his stomach.
You got up, your pain making you slow as you made sounds of struggle.
You went to the large window and supported yourself with your hands on the glass. You called his name again, louder.
His face scrunched a little, but your voice couldn’t penetrate the Novichok haze—the poison being pumped into his cell to dull his senses and keep him too drowsy to function.
You paused as you heard heavy footsteps coming down the hall. It turned out to be several, in fact, as a team of Vought security guards came to your cell.
“What’s going on?” you asked. No one answered you as they grabbed and handcuffed you with your arms in front of you. You struggled, but you didn’t have the strength or energy to give much of a fight.
They wheeled in what looked like a large metal casket. You had only seen one of these in pictures, but it had to be a cryochamber.
A doctor in her mid-fifties accompanied them, giving directions on how to safely enter Ben’s cell. Your eyes widened.
“What the hell are you doing?” you shouted. Panic trilled down your spine as the guards fitted themselves with special suits and gas masks. The doctor turned toward you as the guards led you out of your cell and into the hall.
“You’re being transported,” she informed you.
“Where?”
“To a lab with better security.”
“Why? Where’s my father? I know that bastard’s still alive,” you demanded, but it seemed you weren’t interesting enough for the doctor.
You spied her last name, Baker, embroidered above the breast pocket her lab coat. You finally recognized Dr. Tonya Baker; you hadn’t worked with her much during your time at Vought, but you knew her by reputation.
Your heart fell into your stomach.
You struggled against the stern grip of the guard holding you and shouted, “Ben, wake up!”
Between your voice and the commotion outside his door, he started to rouse.
“Get her out of here,” said Dr. Baker.
Your guards tried to drag you, but you dug your heels in and made it as difficult as possible. Meanwhile, Ben could hear you—when you called his name and now, while you were struggling. He finally drew enough energy and strength to open his eyes and sit up in the cot.
Once he saw you being manhandled against your will, his fury sparked.
“Hey!” he barked. He managed to rise off his cot and draw himself to his feet. The first door of his cell slid open for the guards in their hazmat suits. Once that closed, the second one disengaged, and they came pouring in.
Ben fought them. He managed to punch the first one into the far wall, shaking the fortified glass. He snapped the second man’s neck and broke a leg on the third, but they just kept coming in batches of three or four. The room was misty as hell, slowing Ben’s stamina, and he gritted his teeth in frustration.
Their strength was in numbers, and gradually, they were able to latch onto his arms, kick behind his knees to bring him down to the ground.
He saw the mask coming towards his face, and the well of panic, hearing your distressed yelling of his name—it gave him the strength to break the chain of men holding him down.
That’s when he noticed the star bolts zipping outside his cell.
You were still fighting against the guard’s hold. You ripped back his sleeve and bit into the man’s wrist, eliciting a yell of pain. His grip eased up enough for you to steal his secondary gun on his belt, and despite your cuffed wrists, you shot him in the leg twice to bring him down.
You raised the gun at your next attacker—Frenchie, who raised up his hands in friendly surrender.
“Cherie! It’s surprising to see you alive,” he said. You grinned.
“A good surprise?” you asked, and you shot another guard approaching from behind him.
Frenchie flinched slightly, but after he watched the man fall to the ground, screaming and clutching between his legs, Frenchie’s lips raised in a more genuine smile.
“Yes, I think so,” he teased.
You looked past him and watched as Kimiko, M.M., Annie, Hughie, and Butcher took out the rest of the guards. You didn’t see Dr. Baker anywhere; in all likelihood, she’d fled the scene when she saw her opportunity.
Ben still remained in his cell, and you went to the glass window. He looked all right as he met your gaze, but there were about ten bodies lying around him. His face was firm and assessing. Still, you read the uncertainty behind it as he met your gaze.
You sighed and turned to your team. “Hey, guys. Good to see you.”
Annie went to you first, grasping your shoulders. Her large eyes peered into yours.
“Are you okay?” she asked.
“Well, more or less,” was your weary reply. Your ribs were throbbing, but you raised your cuffed hands. “Think you can help me with these?”
Annie raised a hand over your cuffs and concentrated her powers into melting them, just enough for Kimiko to strike through them. You slid off the remaining metal pieces and rubbed your stinging wrists.
“All right, let’s get a fucking move on,” said Butcher.
“Hello to you too,” you replied, raising a brow.
“Oh, just you wait. You’ve got plenty of fucking explaining to do,” he said, leveling a finger at you. He slid it over to Ben, who watched him right back.
“Ello, gov.” Butcher smirked. “Look at you, all gift-wrapped for us.”
He turned to M.M., who approached with an especially terrifying-looking gas mask. Your eyes widened.
“Ready?” Butcher asked him.
“Ready to knock this motherfucker out and bring him into custody,” M.M. grimly agreed.
“Wait,” you said, stepping past Annie to get between M.M. and Butcher.
With your back to the glass, you didn’t see how Ben’s eyes followed you. They hid a thread of uncertainty. He had a feeling you might do this, but he didn’t know what to expect from your team.
“It doesn’t have to go down like this,” you told them. “He took out Homelander. He could help us bring down Vought. This fucking tower, the whole thing.”
“Is that why you ran at the airport?” M.M. asked. Then he shook his head. “Never mind. We don’t have time to debate this.”
You held out a halting hand. “Look, clearly they're not done making supes if they brought back a new and improved Black Noir. Now they’re selling V24 to the military. They need to be stopped, and with our help, Ben could do it.”
“Oh, it’s Ben now, is it?” Butcher stared at you shrewdly, then at Ben himself. The latter just tilted his head, his mouth quirking with an edge of cockiness.
Butcher raised a brow. His gaze returned to you, noting the way you stood your ground, but pursed your lips. You were hiding something…a guilty conscience, perhaps.
“Bloody hell. You two’ve been fucking,” he realized.
Shocked silence spread through the rest of the team.
Your embarrassment radiated off your flushing cheeks, and it took everything within you to resist looking back at Ben. You didn’t want to see what kind of expression he wore, but you could guess.
“No,” Annie regarded you with shock.
“Seriously?” Hughie remarked in a high voice.
“That’s…well, that’s none of your goddamn business, is it?” you tried to be stern, but your embarrassed shuffling made it lose some of its effect.
Kimiko shared raised brows with Frenchie, who just looked amused. M.M., on the other hand, grimaced with disgust. That actually stung, but you crossed your arms. You didn’t have a good answer for them. Not one you wanted to say in front of Ben, anyway.
“I think we can come to an agreement here,” Ben said at last.
You turned around, and he gained the attention of the others as well. He briefly met your gaze before he shifted to Butcher.
“Worked for us once, before you tried to double-cross me,” Ben said.
“You want to take out Vought.” Butcher glanced at their surroundings, specifically Ben’s cell. He gave a snort of amusement. “I could understand that.”
“Butcher,” M.M. said sharply.
“We–we should probably get out of here now,” Hughie pointed out. He looked back down the hall nervously. You agreed with him; any moment now, more guards could be coming.
“Think about it,” said Ben. “The only way you’re getting that mask on me is with a fight. One you’ll probably lose, fucking miserably. We can have the same deal as before, no strings. Until Stan Edgar and Noir are dead.”
It took Butcher all of seconds.
He turned to Frenchie and said, “Open her up.”
“Butcher, what the fuck!” M.M. argued.
“What do you fucking want from me, eh? Their special ops security will be all over us soon,” Butcher said.
But he shared a meaningful look with the other man that you didn’t miss. It sparked your suspicion.
You stepped back as the first door unlocked after Frenchie hacked the commands. Then the gas misting up the cell receded.
There was an immediate reaction from Ben. He blinked in relief as he started to breathe easy. The brain fog making it almost impossible for him to stay alert slowly ebbed.
He took one step into the hall before it happened—all in a rush, but not unexpected. He blocked M.M.’s punch and tossed him across the hall.
Someone jumped on his back. He heard you shout, but before he could rip off the hanger on, Kimiko slipped the mask over his face and deployed a heavy dose of nerve gas. It was enough to drop him to his knees as his eyes rolled back into his head.
Lights out.
On the way to Supe Affairs, you weren’t happy, but there wasn’t much you could do.
You were still in your Vought-issued gray pajamas, bare footed as you rode along with your friends in Frenchie’s van. In the very back was the haul of Ben, laid to rest in a chamber keeping him sedated.
You had to explain to the rest of them that your father, Jonathan, was Stan Edgar’s Chief of Security. You were a cog in Vought’s wheel once upon a time, but joining the S.A. helped you escape. Ben offered you a way to achieve what you couldn’t at the S.A.—taking it all down.
Still, M.M. looked at you like he didn’t even know you.
“How do you explain fucking him?” he asked.
You shot him a tight frown.
“First of all, none of you know what the hell I went through,” you said. “At first, I was just trying to learn how to read him. How to survive and somehow get back home.”
Emotion clogged in your throat when you thought of seeing your sister again soon, and your mom. You thought of all you had gone through in past two months, and knew that it had changed you…
For better or worse, you didn’t yet know for sure.
“But for all his arrogance, his chauvinism, his massive ego and general bastardry, there’s still humanity in Ben,” you said, looking up at your team. You thought they had become your friends…but you supposed you would see.
“Why else would he save me?” you said.
They didn’t answer. You turned your head to Annie, but even she didn’t look convinced. Though you could see she wanted to be on your side, it was difficult for her to reconcile her own feelings about Soldier Boy. You certainly understood that.
“He’s too powerful to kill,” you also pointed out. “Putting him to sleep like this will just make it worse when he wakes up…but if he’s properly motivated, he could do some good.”
“Or off anyone who looks at him sideways,” Butcher wryly replied. “He’s dickmatized you, love.”
You could tell the others sided with him on this.
“You can disagree with me,” you said, “but do you have a better way to kill Noir and take down Vought?”
At the S.A., you were able to shower and get on proper clothes in a black tracksuit and some sneakers. You weren’t allowed to find out where they’d taken Ben yet, but Grace Mallory oversaw the transport, just as she called you into her office for your immediate debriefing.
It felt more like an interrogation, not unlike the one you underwent to be recruited for the manhunt of Soldier Boy.
You felt like a different person sitting across from her. This time you sat up tall, not intimidated by the ice blue stare that greeted you. The lines in the older woman’s face were drawn, but there was an unyielding wall within the woman that you could admire.
It just didn’t change the fact that right now, she was your opponent. And the chess game had begun.
“You went way off-road with this assignment,” she said at last. You raised a brow.
“I’m sorry my kidnapping inconvenienced you,” you remarked.
“Don’t be cute. You know what the hell I’m talking about,” Grace said. “At this point, I’m debating whether to bring you into custody along with Soldier Boy.”
“I’m the one who got him back to the States,” you pointed out, sitting back in your chair with your arms crossed. “I had to get in contact with my father to make that happen. Do you know what that cost me?”
You resisted an uncomfortable shudder. They’d given you more painkillers for your ribs, but it wasn’t enough the relieve the damage of that encounter. Not to your mind.
“Aside from any other self-debasing tactics I used in order to do my job, not to mention save my own life. Without me, and the sacrifices I made, Soldier Boy wouldn’t be in a cell downstairs,” you finished.
Saying those words stung. Like you were somehow betraying yourself.
“That doesn’t fool me,” Grace said. In fact, her shrewd gaze was much like Butcher’s. It saw straight through you as she tilted her head in wonder. “You care about him.”
Your lips tightened.
After a moment, you answered.
“He was tortured for forty years,” you said. “Whether he admits it or not, he’s got scars just like the rest of us…but more importantly to you, he can help us take down Vought once and for all.”
Grace considered you with a shifting light. “I didn’t think that mattered to you.”
“There’s a lot you don’t know about me,” you retorted. “But make no mistake. You will pay me what you owe me for this mission. If you think you’re going to welch on your end of the deal, then I’m about to be your long-term problem.”
Grace huffed in wry amusement.
“I have a feeling you will be, regardless,” she said.
“And to that end, I will be checking in on Ben,” you replied. “He’s a person, not a weapon or a lab rat.”
“Mind yourself, young lady,” Grace snapped, her eyes narrowing. “I admire your sense of loyalty, but in this case, it’s misplaced. That man is a bastard and a murderer, with a devastating power he can’t hope to control. And you, frankly, don’t have any standing to make demands.”
“And what’s your body count, agent?” you challenged. “Have they all been sanctioned kills?”
When she didn’t answer, merely staring back at you, you stood up.
“You’re right, he can’t control it. Yet. Maybe that’s something productive you can get your damn scientists on,” you said.
And before you left, you added one more thing.
“I may not have your security clearance, your power, or your money,” you said. “But I’ve got a big fucking mouth. So unless you want me to use it, my clearance now includes seeing Ben.”
Grace stared back at you for a moment.
Her nails tapped on her desk as she assessed you.
Releasing a long sigh through her nose, she relented. A little.
“Fine,” she said. “If you can convince him to ally with us on the Vought issue, I’ll allow you to see him.”
You nodded. For all that Grace hated Soldier Boy, she was a practical woman. She saw the same opportunity you did, and was willing to take advantage of it…even if you both knew that convincing Ben to play ball would be damn near impossible.
In fact, this would probably be your biggest challenge yet. But this, you were willing to fight for.
“I can start tomorrow,” you said.
It seemed that Vought and the CIA had been thinking similarly on how to confine Soldier Boy.
You spent one strange night back in your musty apartment before you returned to the S.A., bright and early, so that Grace could lead you to a lab below the main building. It was dark and made of pure concrete, encased in titanium.
In it was a state-of-the-art cell with three metal walls that had to disengage before you could reach the inner room. Inside those four corners of fortified, bullet-proof glass were scarce furnishings. Ben himself was strapped to a bed, with a mask held over his face.
At least he was out of the coffin, but it was difficult for you to watch, even as the scientists and guards unstrapped him and left the cell. The mask disengaged from his face, allowing him to breathe real air as he started to wake. But gas flooded into the compartment, not unlike Vought’s setup.
You and Grace stood outside the glass. She glanced at you with sharp nod. Then she left you alone.
Well, relatively speaking. There were guards posted at the entrance of the three walls behind you, controlling who got in and out of the cell area.
Once all the walls were back in place after Grace’s departure, you let out a shaky breath and stepped forward with the plate of food you brought, along with a few bottles of water.
Ben was moving off the bed, trying and failing to clear his head as he took in his surroundings with a furious glare. It only dimmed slightly when he realized you were there.
He made his way toward you, and you pressed a button that would allow you to safely pass his meal to him without letting any nerve gas escape the inner cell. Ben removed the lid from the plate, inspected the chicken and vegetables with an unreadable expression.
Then, with a burst of force, he took the plate and tossed it as hard as he could into one of the glass walls.
You flinched. But by the time he looked back at you, you’d schooled your expression, merely raising a brow.
“That was real fucking mature.”
“Suck on my balls, sweetheart,” he retorted. He cocked his head to the side. “Oh wait, you did. Last Tuesday.”
You glared at him with a hot blush spreading across your face. That was not, in fact, last Tuesday. But you didn’t rise to his bait.
“Are you really willing to partner with the S.A. to take down Vought? Or was that just you bluffing?” you asked.
Ben started to pace in irritation. You knew he was upset, and itching for revenge on anyone that would dare confine him again. You could guess what being in a cell was already doing to his mental state.
Which was why you were here, desperately trying to help him.
“Really, would you rather be hunted all your life, or would you rather just play ball here?” you tried to reason. “Become a real ally with the S.A. Show Mallory that you can operate within the law.”
Ben looked up from his pacing just to glare at you.
“Who the fuck do you think you’re talking to with all these demands, huh?”
“You, Ben. I’m talking to you!”
He ignored you, resuming his pacing. “I’m a solo act for a damn reason.”
Oh really? you wanted to say. That’s why he needed your help to try and get to Stan.
“That got you here, now didn’t it?” you asked.
He didn’t answer. It made you think you weren’t going to get anywhere with him today. Maybe he needed some time to cool off.
You sighed and turned to leave, but his voice stopped you.
“You’re just going to leave me in here?” he asked in disbelief. And you thought you could read a throughline of hurt behind his eyes. “I saved you…shit, I’ve lost count how many times now. And still, you fucking betrayed me.”
“Don’t you do that,” you warned. Though you felt a prickle of guilt run down your spine. “You know very well what got you here. I tried to stop it. And I’m the only one who’s on your side right now.”
“Doesn’t fucking look like it from where I’m standing.”
You sighed in frustration. “I’ll tell you the truth, I don’t want to leave you in here. But if I can’t trust you, they never will.”
“I don’t know what delusions you have about me,” he said, coming closer.
“But when I get out of here, I’m slaughtering anyone who gets in my way!” he shouted savagely.
He banged his fists into the glass so hard that it trembled, making you flinch with a gasp. A more concentrated fog smoked up the cell. Ben coughed and cursed as he stumbled back, and eventually, he fell unconscious right there on the floor.
You watched in dismay. Despite his rage, it still hurt you to see him like this. Like a caged animal.
Tears welled up in your eyes, but you forced yourself to leave the cell before the cameras caught them. You knew Grace would be monitoring this exchange later.
She would probably feel vindicated at what she saw.
The thought disgusted you as the outer walls parted, allowing you to leave. M.M. was waiting for you at the exit. He’d seen the entire thing through a monitor at the control desk, where two guards sat eating their lunch.
“You want to protect that piece of shit?” M.M. said, jerking a thumb towards the cell. “That’s what he really is. And he clearly don’t give a fuck about you.”
Your jaw tightened.
“I’m not going to justify my actions to you, M.M. I know what he’s done, especially to you," you said. "But he didn’t just let me live. He protected me, saved me, more than once. From his own men even. And…he was kind to me, in his own way. I have to think that counts for something.”
M.M. shook his head at you in disbelief.
“Maybe he went soft for a pretty girl, but that doesn’t mean he ain’t a monster,” he said.
“That’s not all there is to him,” you said. “You didn’t see it, M.M.”
The other man watched you for a moment, before he let out a deep sigh.
“You actually think he can be saved,” he said.
“Maybe,” you said. “We’ll see.”
He crossed his arms. You understood how he felt, but you couldn’t deny what your instincts told you about Ben…and your heart as well.
“He’s right about one thing,” M.M. said. “You are delusional.”
A few days went by as the team went back to work at the S.A. as usual. But your days during your first week home became marked by your strenuous visits to Ben.
Once again, he’d rather pace than look at you. You had a feeling it helped him stay awake.
“I fought for my country,” he groused. “I don’t fucking deserve this.”
“Oh, would you stop lying?” you said in annoyance. “You’ve only ever fought for yourself. You didn’t even fight in World War II! You’ve never been a soldier. And unless you get a fucking clue, you’re going to continue being the massive man-child your father saw in you.”
Maybe it wasn’t kind, but you were fed up with his stubbornness. You turned to leave.
“Don’t you fucking walk away from me!” Ben shouted.
You raised a brow, and you turned on your heel. The man was livid, standing in the center of his cell.
“Or what?” you challenged.
But you soon relented at the way he withdrew–into himself.
You had checked the monitors before you came in; he was trying not to sleep, wasn’t letting his body rest. This place was like an open wound: complete wall-to-wall glass, no privacy, nowhere to go, and nothing to do. He couldn’t distract himself with drugs, or TV, or good food, or even good sex and conversation.
This was terrible for him, and you knew it.
“Ben, I want to help you,” you said, letting out a shaky breath. You laid a hand on the glass. “Let me help you.”
His gaze was angry and unyielding.
“There’s only one way you can help me,” he said. “But you won’t fucking do it.”
The team was giving you a wide berth. Even Annie greeted you in the office with more politeness than warmth.
Above all else, you remained professional, but it was a simple fact that your team was no longer your team. They didn’t trust you, or your judgment. And you refused to show how deeply that hurt you.
However, until you all got a breakthrough on taking down Vought and Noir, there was still work to be done. So you fell into step back in with the Surveillance team.
That meant taking your place as second-in-command to your manager, as well as returning to your cubicle next to your coworker Jess. She hugged you when she saw you, even shed tears.
You’d hugged her a bit awkwardly, but you were touched. You hadn’t thought she cared about you that much.
She told you that the entire Surveillance department had been worried about you. That they’d missed you, especially your calm, supportive leadership. (Apparently your manager had been stressed handling the entire department without you.)
That at least buoyed you throughout the rest of the week.
When you returned home on Thursday, however, you received an unexpected call. But when you saw the caller ID, you inwardly kicked yourself before you answered.
“Louisa?”
“What the hell is wrong with you!” came your sister’s sharp voice.
So many things, you thought with a weary sigh. You held your phone to your ear while you tried to find something to cook for dinner in your pantry. All you found was a box of spaghetti…which dragged up bittersweet memories you’d rather not think about.
“I meant to call you as soon as I got back,” you tried to explain. “But I’ve been in full debrief mode. It’s been a circus since I got back, Lou.”
You slammed the pantry shut and went for the frozen dinner in the freezer.
“I don’t care. I didn’t hear from you for almost two straight months…”
You knew the S.A. hadn’t told her anything about your kidnapping, but you knew she had to have been worrying when you didn’t check in at all after that first time in Medellin. The sound of her emotion-choked voice made your own eyes sting.
“I’m sorry, Lou. I’ll come visit you this weekend, okay? I’m still taking care of some things at work.” Namely a grumpy supe on lockdown. “How’s school?”
“School is fine!” she snapped. You heard her take a breath, presumably to calm herself. She had a bit of a temper, just like you, but your sister managed herself much better than you. You supposed being more well-adjusted had its perks.
“Mom was worried too, but I kept her calm. Focused on work,” she said.
“I appreciate that. Thanks,” you replied. You knew you had to call your mom soon as well. Maybe you’d stop in on her after your sister.
“I better see you this weekend,” she grumbled. You smiled.
“Love you too,” you said.
“Love you…okay, I’ll let you go for now. But don’t forget!”
Once you said goodbye and hung up, you held the phone to your chest and heaved another sigh. You were exhausted, really. Sleep hadn’t been coming easy to you ever since you got back. But you knew it was nothing compared to what Ben was going through.
Which was why you visited him every day.
The next morning, you made your pitstop to the “cellar,” as you’d been calling it in your mind.
You’d brought whatever Grace allowed you to give him, like books and magazines, and an old iPod to listen to music on, but he mostly ignored you.
This time, however, he seemed in a different mood as you sat in a plastic fold out chair and ate your breakfast with him, on your side of the cell of course. You took another bite of your blueberry muffin while he pushed aside his bland-looking eggs.
“So, how much did you get paid?” he asked. His tone was nonchalant, but his gaze was accusing. You let out a breath and looked up at him.
“Enough to put my sister through college and pay off my mom’s debts,” you told him. “I took this job for my family, Ben.”
His finger tapped on his arm, but he didn’t relent. “Selling out is selling out.”
Wow. He really had the nerve to compare you to the way his team sold him out.
You’d tried to be nice. You really did. But he could be such a massive pain in the ass.
“You don’t seem to understand just how much shit I’m in for trying to help you right now,” you said.
Ben mustered up some strength and got up from his cot. He drew near to you, crossing his arms.
“If this is your idea of doing me a fucking favor, then I don’t need it,” he said angrily. “I don’t need a naive little girl like you to help me do jack shit.”
You set down your muffin and stood to your feet, matching his glare.
“Like you didn’t need my help to get into Vought Tower?” you pointed out, satisfied by the way he piped down. Silently simmering.
“If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t even be awake right now,” you added. “You’d be back in an ice coffin.”
And that could still happen if you couldn’t convince him to cooperate with Supe Affairs.
“Fuck off,” he snapped. “And fuck you.”
Oh really? You frowned. At this point, you wanted to slap him. It seemed to be his sheer stubbornness and ego that was keeping him from his own freedom, and that, you just couldn't tolerate.
“You know what?” you said, grabbing your muffin and your fold-up chair. “Suck my dick, Ben. When you’re ready to talk to me like a human being, tap on the glass.”
You left him behind to do your real job, and this time, you didn’t let him halt your steps.
You’d scarcely entered your apartment that evening, when a shadow on the living room sofa gave you a small heart attack.
You flipped on the lights and found your younger sister, arms crossed with a raised brow. On the coffee table in front of her was a glass of soda. It looked like she’d made herself comfortable while waiting for you.
“Louisa! What are you doing here?” you exclaimed, with a hand on your chest. “Why the hell are you sitting in the dark?”
“I heard you coming up those rickety stairs and thought I’d pay you back for disappearing in South America,” she said.
But soon enough, wide grins took over both of your faces.
You pulled her into a big, warm hug. Tears burned in your eyes, and one or two slid down your cheeks as you tried to get ahold of yourself.
“I missed you so much,” you confessed. You were just slightly taller than her, able to comfortably pet her hair and press a kiss to her cheek. Louisa was just as emotional, her pretty eyes filled with happy tears.
She was about to speak when the glass on the coffee table suddenly shattered.
You both flinched, and your sister gasped. You held onto her shoulders tighter, more protective as you assessed the room. You listened closely.
A shot rang out, but it hit the wall beside your head. You moved at the last moment and narrowly avoided the third shot that would’ve struck you between the eyes.
“Get down!” you yelled, forcing your sister to crouch along with you and move across the living room.
Bullets tore with a vengeance through the windows, crashing into vases, picture frames, shattering the surface glass of the wooden coffee table, and ripping into the sofa until its internal fluff rose into the air like cotton confetti.
You protected Louisa’s head as you both took shelter behind the sofa.
“What’s happening?” she shouted over the cacophony, but you didn’t have an answer for her yet.
Your front door burst open and shattered the lock. You tensed, looking for where you stashed the spare gun you kept at home. The S.A. hadn’t gotten around to issuing you a new glock yet.
Heavy boots came through your apartment. You grabbed a piece of broken glass and told Louisa to stay down.
But when you stood and met your attacker, he was nearly three times your size. He grabbed your wrist in a firm, but not painful hold. He pulled his black ski mask down with a hand and revealed a familiar face.
Your eyes widened, your mouth gaping in shock.
“Frank?”
AN: 😏 Did I get'cha? Did I? Let me know in the comments. 😂
Next Time:
“Wait, wait. You’re not getting out of this.” Louisa leaned over and grabbed your hand. “What’s the deal with you and Soldier Boy? I thought the whole point of your mission was to capture him.”
You let out an exasperated sigh.
“I was on the job, things went sideways, I got captured, and things got…complicated.”
Frank huffed. “I think the kids are calling it Frenemies with Benefits.”

Bro’s before that kinda bro
Chapter 6/??
Authors note: This chapter was SUPER hard to write lmfao but hope y’all enjoy!! Love u guyth😘
—————————
Ever since the night you slept over, you would go into his dorm later in the day to check on him. The two of you would study and talk for hours and eventually you would forget the time so much you just… continued to spend the night. Like, every single night.
Compared to how you used to sleep, this way felt way more eventful, sneaking in and out of his room without getting caught sent thrilling sparks all over your body. Waking up to the smell of his room and the hot tea he’d make every morning made you feel warm. Just being around him made your heart fill to the brim.
This morning you felt a little more tingly than usual. You were sure Todoroki felt the same way, today was going to be a special day for most of U.A.
“What are you planning on bringing?” You asked as you sat up from his bed.
Todoroki turned from his desk, continuing to blow on his tea. “Charger, phone, earbuds, toothpaste, toothbrush, slippers, instant soba...”
“Mm I don’t think we’re allowed to bring food… won’t raccoons come in or something?”
“No, I’ll eat it fast.”
“You can’t just eat it fast, what if you have crumbs!?”
He shrugged and got back to drinking his tea. You decided to take this as a sign for you to leave and double check your suitcase. You slowly opened the door, once the coast cleared you slipped out the door and tried to scurry far from his room. But you stopped in your tracks when you heard an all too familiar gasp.
“(Y/n) you sneaky little snake!” Mina said. “I just knew something was up!”
She stood by Todoroki’s door with her own bags. “What are you talking about? I- I was getting some things from his room! Like uhm...”
“Like his sweater?” A sinister smile formed on her face as she approached you. “How long has this been going on?”
“Uhm…Maybe...for a week?”
She pulled out her phone and continued to rant. “That makes so much sense! I just knew you were going to spend the night with him that one dinner. No wonder you never answered when I knocked on your door!”
You facepalmed. How could you forget about something like that? Mina did little surprise visits here and there, but you were so entranced with a certain someone it completely slipped your mind. “Ok but you cannot tell anyone what happened!”
Mina’s eyes went wide and she lowered her phone, your phone’s notifications went off almost immediately with all your friends bombarding you with questions.
When your shocked eyes met hers she covered her mouth. “I-I didn’t know you wanted to keep it a secret!
And just like that your sweet little secret became a now known fact.
When you boarded the bus the girls pulled you to a seat far from Todoroki, squealing about your secret sleepovers. “Ah cheer up! I’m sure you can spend a lot of time with him at the hotel.” Uraraka pat your back.
“But only during the events, I heard the boys and girls have been separated into completely different hotels.” You sighed. “The teachers would catch me if I even tried to sneak in.”
“Actually,” Mina piped up from next to you. “I did a little research on the hotel and lots of students who went said there was a secret entryway to get between both hotels!”
You and Uraraka shared a look. If this ‘secret entryway’ came to be true, both you and Uraraka would be sneaking into the boy’s hotel every night for the whole trip. It sounded a little too good to be true, but you would take any opportunity to have the thrill of sneaking around with your friends.
“And there’s more!”
“More?” You asked.
“Yes! Apparently other students have said that this place has some kind of charm to it or something.” She looked between the both of you. “They said that if people confess to their crushes here they will suddenly get into a relationship!”
“And-and what happens if you’re already in a relationship?” Uraraka asked, getting a little too into the conversation.
“Well, my sources have said that people in relationships usually get an even stronger bond after being on this trip!”
Uraraka had a deep fire in her eyes as she looked back to where Midoriya sat. And you did too. you wanted to change the relationship you had with Todoroki, if not now then when?
“Should I confess!?” You exclaimed softly.
Mina gasped. “Yes! Absolutely! It would work out I’m sure!”
“I agree, and we should get Jirou to confess too! She told me she hasn’t done it yet.” Uraraka motioned to Jirou sitting next to Kaminari. The two of them were listening to music and laughing together. “They look so cute, I’m sure he will say yes!”
You nodded. This would be a perfect opportunity for everyone to get their feelings out and if what Mina said was true, then maybe you would leave this place with a boyfriend.
By the time the bus pulled up to the resort, the sun had begun to set. It was hectic going from getting your bags to swarming through crowds of students to find your friends again. When you finally caught up with the girls you were able to take a minute to admire the location. Trees scattered the area, along with paths leading deeper into the woods, to the side you could see the sunset bounce off of the lake and hear the sounds of nature and low chatter of students fill the area.
People started handing out pamphlets as the present Mic hushed the chatter for an announcement. “Welcome to the resort you have all been working so hard to get to! All of you students deserve to get a little break after the rigorous training your teachers have put you through!” You spaced out as Present Mic went over basic rules and what the hotel had to offer for everyone.
This continued until Aizawa took the Mic from him. “It has also come to our attention that in the past, other students would sneak into the opposing genders hotel.” Everyone’s chatter started to die down even lower, now people were listening. “We made sure that more security is surrounding both hotels. If any of you get caught trying to sneak around we will have to punish you.”
Midnight hushed the crowd as they groaned and shouted protests. “Oh quiet down, it’s not like that’s the only thing you guys can do here, you guys get free food! And later on you can all do a little campfire, and- just read the pamphlet for the schedule!”
All the students perked up to this, gaining the same energy they had as when they first got here. S’mores, campfire, scary stories with friends? You felt giddy just thinking about it, there was no way it could get any better!
“But you all must be in your rooms by 9 P.M. No exceptions!”
Nope. It couldn’t get better. It got worse.
You all groaned at the reveal of new information. As the teachers showed the students to their hotels and rooms you tried to keep pace with Uraraka.
“What are we supposed to do now? I really wanted to sneak around and look at what this place had.” You said.
“Yeah, I know! But at least we get to be roommates and free food!” She bumped you with her elbow. “We can do other things, like binge watch all the seasons of Avatar!”
You began to unpack your things and place them on a certain side of the room.“That does sound kinda nice. Are we gonna go down to eat?”
“Yup! We can, but before we do I have a small question for you.” She waited for you to look at her, then continued. “I know everything’s resolved but I wanted to talk about the little fight you and Kaminari had a while ago, if that’s ok with you.”
You nodded and she took a deep breath. ”So taking all the information I’ve been given, this isn’t your first argument about Todoroki right?” You shook your head. “Ok well don’t freak out! But what if he got mad at Todoroki all the time because he…. likes you?”
“What!?” This was about the second time someone thought your relationship was deeper. What were you two doing that showed that!? “I think he cares for me of course! But I don’t see him liking me, that just doesn’t seem right!”
“You sure? What if he confesses to you on the trip or something?
“He won’t! I know Kaminari, he doesn’t have any romantic feelings for me. I think I could tell if he did.”
“Yeah you think you could tell.” Uraraka sighed as she put her luggage away. “Just don’t break his heart if he does ask.”
You lifted yourself from the floor and pinched her cheek. “I won’t, I promise. Now let’s go before everyone eats all the food.”
You pulled her around the hotel, the both of you confused on where you were. After about half an hour of looking, the both of you finally found the lunch room! The room looked sparse, a few groups eating at tables, but none of them your friends. You decided to send a quick message to find out where your friends were.
You found Kaminari’s last few texts weird but decided to just ignore it. You didn’t want to overthink anything. The two of you walked around and talked as you looked for a small campfire, once you found it you waved to everyone and sat with Kaminari.
“And so basically she was totally stabbed to death! Like a lot! The end!” Hagakure finished her story but no one seemed fazed in the slightest.
You leaned over to Kaminari, “Has anyone actually told a good scary story yet?”
“Nah, they were all kinda lame.” Kaminari handed you a s’mores. “I think Midoriya wet himself with his own story to be honest.”
You laughed. “I believe it, who’s supposed to go next?”
Kaminari shrugged, continuing to light his s’mores. Everyone began to chatter, letting Kirishima tell his ‘true’ paranormal experiences he had. But no one was getting scared.
“I have one.”
Everyone's eyes followed the voice of whoever spoke. The chatter slowed.
It was Tokoyami.
A few students moved over to let Tokoyami into the middle, giving him the spotlight. “It took place in this farm…”
Everyone sat stuck in their seats gasping and biting their nails as he told the story, completely terrified as to what would happen next. His story had twist upon twist and lots of unnerving scenery. It had you look behind yourself multiple times, feeling shivers that weren’t due to the cold.
“Then it slithered out of my grasp.” He held his hands out for emphasis, then up. “That is all. I’m done.”
Mina’s teeth clattered. “What the actual hell. Tokoyami was that based on a true story!?”
The whole group watched him, waiting for an answer. “No.” A large sigh of relief filled the woods. “It was a dream I had.”
“Bro that is not a normal dream! You were possessed I swear!” Kirishima exclaimed. “And speaking of possessions, I have another paranormal story that really happened!”
You tuned Kirishima out and turned your attention to Todoroki. He ate what looked like his second bowl of soba, but when he saw you looking at him he gestured behind himself with his head. Silently asking if you wanted to get away.
You nearly tripped trying to get out of your seat. Todoroki lifted himself following you away from the group. The two of you walked deep into the woods.
“Why’d you wanna leave?” You asked, playing with your necklace.
“Cause you looked scared. You were shaking the whole time.” He slurped his noodles and gestured toward your necklace. “I didn’t know you brought that.”
“I’ve had it on all day, it was just hidden in my sweater. And I wasn’t scared. I was cold, some people don’t have a heating quirk Shouto.”
“That sounds like a lie. I heard Midoriya peed himself and if he did that I’m sure you cried.”
“I heard that too but I wasn’t scared! I was cold, and I am still cold here, feel my hand.” You placed your hand on his neck, making him flinch and shove your hand off. You continued to mess around by pinching his cheeks with your cold hands. “There is a way for you to warm my hands up.”
Todoroki looked at you with curiosity, then he went into his deep thoughtful face.
You couldn’t help but huff. “You know something that has to do with your quirk, it could warm me up by just being in my hands.”
‘Hold my hand hold my hand hold my hand hold my hand’ you thought.
Then he seemed to connect the dots he put his chopsticks in the bowl. “Hold out your hands.” You did so, but then. You couldn’t believe it. He activated his heating quirk and placed the bowl of noodles in your hands. “You can… you can have the rest. I think you’ll like it. He said as if it pained him.
You were shocked. For two reasons, 1. He missed the opportunity to hold your hand. 2. Shouto hasn’t ever offered a good bowl of soba to anyone. Like ever. This was an extremely rare offer you were not going to pass up.
“Wow I’m honored, are you sure you don’t want any?
He held his hand out and shook his head. “As long as you’re not cold I don’t care.”
You felt a gush of appreciation for him, he said cute things sometimes. The two of you talked until you arrived at your hotel, standing in front of your hotel, basking in the sounds of nature, your friends' laughter, and the way the moonlight shined on him. He looked amazing.
“I like hanging out with you.” You whispered, careful to not break the moment.
Todoroki pinched your cheek, a smile adorning his face. “Same.”
The two of you stood there looking at each other, not saying anything. His hand lingered. The moment felt soft yet heavy and you wanted to save it. But before you could pull out your phone’s camera he very lightly ran his thumb over your eyebrow, making you lose your breath.
Then he just as quickly pulled away, holding his hand back as if he were burned. “I should go… uhm goodnight (y/n).”
You reached for him, not knowing what to say. But he only diverted his gaze and walked away from you. Leaving you to eat your noodles, not knowing what you should do next.
Why did he do that out of nowhere? Why did he stop? You didn’t understand why that whole moment even played out, he just did random romantic things like it was normal. He held your hand, cuddled with you, kissed your palm, fed you, called you till midnight, now this? You gasped. Did he finally figure out that he liked you?
You shook your head, no way, he couldn’t have figured it out. He probably needed more time, you knew how he was. You finished your bowl and walked to your room, trying to at least sleep it off.
The next day was way more eventful. The sun was beaming, making it the hottest day of the trip, but students stayed outside, taking walks, fishing, and doing scavenger hunts. But the thing that had everyone talking was an event planned for the end of the day. You hung out with Jirou and Momo, eating popsicles and talking about the upcoming event.
“I think I’m gonna confess tonight.” Jirou said.
Momo squealed. “That will be so sweet!”
“I think I’ll confess tonight too.” You flicked your stick onto the floor. If Jirou was going to do it, you might as well join in. It felt better when someone else would do the same thing with you. “We can do it together.”
Jirou smiled and rested her head on your shoulder. “I hope they say yes… Hey Momo what time do we have to be there?”
“The dance is at 8, they’re extending the lights out policy to 11.” Momo pointed her popsicle at you. “But you two should come early and help set up! It will be so much fun!”
You and Jirou agreed, probably sharing a feeling of excitement mixed with dread. You had been preparing for this moment forever, and the dance just seemed like a perfect time to confess, the mood would be set right and you would be dressed up. It would be wrong to not confess.
The day went by so slowly you felt as if you were going to die, you hoped sitting with the Bakusquad would help with the wait, but their conversations only revolved around the dance. You tried to think about anything else, tapping on the table to the ticks of the clock.
Until Jirou tapped your shoulder. You jumped out of your chair before she could even ask if you were ready, because yes. You were. You’ve been ready all day.
The two of you walked around the campus, stopping when you found a large group of teachers and students moving foldable tables around. You guys assisted the others with decorating the space and had a few snack breaks in between.
After a while the teachers dismissed students by sections so they could put on their formal clothes. You put on a pink flowy dress that matched with your necklace and felt incredibly fun to spin in. Once you finished getting dressed you met up with Jirou, giving her compliments about her dress.
“I’m so ready for this dance to start.” You checked the time on your phone. “We have 10 minutes, Jirou I think I’m gonna throw up, how are you being so calm right now?”
Jirou let out what seemed like a long repressed sigh. “I don’t know, I think I’m so scared I’m just numb to panic.” You noticed her playing with the hem of her dress. “What if he rejects me?”
You placed both hands on her shoulders. “Well he would be stupid to reject someone like you, Jirou you’re a whole package deal. If I were a dude I would propose to you right now.” You gave her a small squeeze. “You’ll be fine.”
“Ok. Yeah, yes I will be fine.” she took in a deep breath. “But you have to confess too alright? Don’t leave me hanging.”
Before you could respond Midnight announced that the dance had officially started. Music began playing and the students who helped out cheered or began dancing in the center of the room. You felt your nerves get all out of place and forgot how to breathe.
You grabbed Jirou’s hand and pointed towards the dance floor. “Do you want to dance? I need to move.”
“Definitely. Let’s go.”
The two of you bounced around to the upbeat music. Trying to let out all of your fears and dance it off. You began switching Jirou off with Momo, feeling a little lighter on your feet. You spun Momo around to the music, feeling laughter bubble out as you all danced.
After a while you noticed the Bakusquad enter the area, you all waved and gave your greetings. Bakugou went straight to the punch, not even giving the dance floor a glance while Kirishima seemed to be giving Kaminari a long boring motivational speech about something. You decided to drag Kirishima to the floor, so Jirou could have a chance to talk to Kaminari.
You laughed as Kirishima did his own dorky breakdance moves. It all felt so refreshing and fun, you just moved freely, enjoying the way the night looked, the loud music, the flickering fairy lights, just the whole moment.
You all danced to the upbeat music until present Mic switched to a slow song. Groans filled the area as students walked away from the floor and couples took it over. You looked around the room, Uraraka said Todoroki was with her and Midoriya but none of them were in sight.
Momo and Jirou started a conversation as you were spaced out. You felt a little bummed, what if Todoroki didn’t show up? You snapped out of it when you heard Momo gasp and bump you with her arm. You turned your attention to what she was looking at. Was it Todo-Nope, just Kaminari walking to your group.
“Hey… uhm this is kinda awkward but did you want to dance?” He asked scratching the back of his neck. You looked over at Jirou, waiting for her answer. It was happening, it was finally happening. Jirou will go dance with him and then confess! Kaminari continued to stare at your group. “(y/l/n)?”
What? You felt your mouth drop to the floor, looking between Kaminari and Jirou to figure out what just happened. Why did he want to dance with you all of a sudden? “Me? Don’t you mean Jirou?”
When you turned to look at Jirou for confirmation she only shook her head with a nervous expression saying that she wasn’t ready. You nodded and took Kaminari’s hand walking him to the floor, you didn’t mind giving her more time.
Dancing with Kaminari felt way more awkward than you could have imagined, he constantly shifted his hands, not knowing where to place them on your body. Whenever you went in for a spin it would catch him off guard and make you both trip up, the both of you stepped on each other’s feet, spouting apologies every second. It all felt so off and you found that both of your hands were extremely sweaty.
Then as Kaminari tried to dip you to the floor something, or rather someone caught your eye. You gasped when you saw Uraraka, Midoriya, and Todoroki all enter the area, nearly falling out of Kaminari’s grasp. Kaminari quickly pulled you up and apologized but you only patted his shoulder, too entranced by your crush walking in.
“Shouto? Hey Shouto!” You waved him over, not noticing the lingering hold Kaminari had on your wrist.
Todoroki took notice and walked your direction with a wide smile. “I didn’t think you would wear the necklace tonight.” He ran a thumb over your pendant. “It matches.”
You grabbed his hands and led him to an open area. “I told you I would wear it everyday.” The both of you were beginning to sway to the new song. “Do you want to dance with me?”
“We already are.” He whispered.
His hands snaked around your waist as yours fell on his shoulders all so naturally. It felt smooth and comfortable. Almost like you two were meant to have this moment. The fairy lights gave him a wonderful glow and his eyes shined whenever the light hit them right.
He knew exactly when to spin you, your bodies moving in sync. You spun him around as well laughing as he ducked under your arm. He then pulled you into his chest, holding you close and swaying, you could hear his heart beating just as fast as yours.
Then he shifted you and all you could do was stare into his eyes. You felt like the moment was perfect. You suddenly heard a loud blast and whipped your head to where the sound came from. Colorful sparks filled the sky, one after another catching everyone in a trance.
You had been waiting for a perfect moment like this, the fireworks just put that much more of an emphasis. You needed to confess now. You looked at the floor, feeling your face get warm. You needed to do it but you felt frozen in place, what if it all went wrong what would you-
Todoroki squeezed your hand and when your eyes met you heard your heart beat louder than the fireworks. Every thump ringing in your ears as he smiled down at you with pure joy. He cupped your face, running both his thumbs over your eyebrows, like he did last night.
You needed to do it now.
“Shouto. I think that I-” a firework cracked off as you spoke. “like you.”
He knitted his brows. “What?”
You raised your voice. “I like you!”
“I can’t hear what you’re-“
You moved without thinking and smashed his lips into yours, it was a quick peck to the lips but it felt like your face was on fire. Everything went so right, you didn’t expect yourself to even move like that!
When you fluttered your eyes open you were met with a shocked face. Your stomach dropped.
“(Y/n). Why would you...?” Todoroki stepped away from you, wiping his mouth, an emotion you hadn’t seen on his face in a while appeared.
“Wait, what.” You felt heat rise to your face. “Oh no, I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to kiss you it just happened, I’m so sorry.”
He shook his head with pure disgust. You felt your whole body get hot, every drop of sweat burned your skin.
“What made you think I wanted you to do that?”
You couldn’t move, your body went rigid. He cursed under his breath, not even bothering to look at you.
“Shouto im-“
“No. I need a minute just… I need to go.”
You stood in the middle of the floor as Todoroki pushed through other couples. Your thoughts raced as your heart thumped in your ears, the music was getting too loud. The scene began replaying in your head over and over, as you felt yourself moving away from the groups of people but not feeling intact with your actual body.
Your face was starting to get wet and your breathing hitched. You aggressively swiped at the tears as you stormed away, hoping no one saw you. Your sight got so blurry and the scene replayed in your head so much you felt a nasty pit grow in your stomach and crawl to your throat.
You didn’t want this to happen at all. You thought that the two of you would talk it out and still be friends but he was so disgusted. You felt sick.
“(Y/l/n)? Is that you?” You paused. Who was looking for you?
You used the end of your dress to dry your tears “Uhm-hm hm, wh-what do you need?”
You heard them move around a tree and gasp when they saw you. It was Kaminari. “Woah, are you okay?” Your mouth wobbled but before you could speak a sob forced its way out. He immediately pulled you into a deep hug, letting you bawl into his shoulder. “Hey… hey… it’s okay... why are you crying what happened?”
“Sh-showtooo rejected me and-and hnnmmf mmff” you laid your face into his shoulder not able to form sentences. He only hummed and began rubbing circles into your back.
“I’m sorry...Something like that happened to me too, except I was the one doing the rejecting- but still I’m sorry that happened.”
“You were probably nice about it. You probably rejected her in the nicest wa-ay possible.” You hiccuped.
“That jerk, he makes it so hard for me to not hate him. He only cares about himself.”
You lifted yourself from his shoulder. “No, he does care about others.”
“Probably others but not you.” He made direct eye contact. “The stuff he does to you really pisses me off. He just takes advantage of all the things you give him- has he ever thanked you for everything you’ve done for him?”
You pulled your necklace into view, ready to argue.
He shook his head.“Doesn’t count. I’m sure he used his dad's money for that. Normal people don’t buy expensive things as an apology, they just say sorry. Who does he think he is? I mean seriously.”
“Kaminari…”
“If I was in his position… if you felt the same way for me I would treat you right. I wouldn’t play with your feelings like it was some kind of game.” His volume raised as he spoke, this conversation was leading to a whole other place than you imagined. “He got so lucky getting you to smile at him like that and he just threw it away!”
“Do you like me?” The question just popped out with no hesitation. At this point you could tell what he was hinting at and you didn’t want him to rant any longer. His face flashed fear as he looked at you.
“I’m sorry.” His head dropped and he pinched the bridge of his nose. “I shouldn’t like you, but It just happened, you just… give a lot of love to everyone and I mistook your love for me as… something romantic.”
You pat his shoulder. “I’m sorry.” You started to feel pressure behind your eyes. “Kami…I-I still like him and I can’t move on that quickly. I’m so sorry.”
“It’s not your fault.” Kaminari sat onto a bench nearby and hid his face. “I can’t walk you to the hotel right now, can you walk by yourself?”
You slowly nodded, giving him a glance before walking away. What are you supposed to say after getting a confession you know you couldn’t accept? You wanted this day to end. You checked your phone, it was already way past midnight. You groaned knowing you would have to sneak back into your hotel.
As you approached closer you were surprised to see Jirou standing by a tree near the hotel. Probably trying to sneak back as well.
But instead of a greeting she only scoffed. ”I saw you with Kaminari a while ago.”
“Yeah, Todorki rejected me and we were talking about it. Why?”
“Did he ever tell you that he didn’t like me? Like at all?”
You froze. Now that you thought back to it, Kaminari did say that he rejected someone. “Jirou I’m so sorry that happened.”
“No you’re not. You knew he would reject me didn’t you? I’m pretty sure you knew he had a thing for you.” Tears began to run down her face. “Cause the whole time we were dancing he was only looking at you, every single time I was with him he would stare at you. Did you have me confess to look stupid?”
“What!? Jirou I wouldn’t do that- I only found out he liked me today!”
“Are you stupid!? Are you actually stupid? You found out that he liked you today? It’s been so obvious, even I knew it!”
“Well if you knew then why did you confess? You’re stupid for blaming me for something out of my control, I only liked Todoroki!”
“Yeah right, you probably kept Kaminari as a backup option in case Todoroki didn’t work out.”
Your eyes went wide. You didn’t expect her to say anything like that or even get into an argument with her. She was projecting her anger onto you and it seriously pissed you off.
Before you could even open your mouth, Midnight walked right in front of you two. “Ladies, do the two of you know what time it is?” You and Jirou stuttered an excuse but Midnight only held out her hand. “Ah-Ah! you are probably the 8th students I’ve caught tonight! I’m gonna write you two up and make sure you’re punished when we get back. For now just get to your rooms.”
You and Jirou were absolutely shocked. The two of you walked in the same direction but a fair distance apart, you didn’t want to argue about her getting you two caught. It was an awkward walk to your room since Jirou’s room was on the same floor, but once you reached your room you slid to the floor. This whole night you had been looking forward to was a disaster.
You felt tears trickle down your face as you held back sobs. For the first time in a while, you cried yourself to sleep while thinking about Todoroki.

[Not that anyone has asked but playing the Headcanon Game yesterday was fun so....]
We’re going to play regarding Unsettled. Ready for a little pain and a little pleasure? Cause this family won’t leave me alone. To the point I stop while out shopping and take photos of things that make me think of Maximilian and then have to explain the activity to my friends and just... yea... [Let’s just file this under writers being ruled by their characters, shall we?]
A: [What I think realistically.]
Realistically this pair is so FUBARed that I’m never sure from one moment to the next if they’re going to survive the experience. But hell are they fun to write. Personally, if it were me, he wouldn’t be allowed the single assumption that forgiveness would ever be given, granted, or earned. The way I’ve written them - you’ve gotta love someone a hell of a lot to hate them so thoroughly. Come to think of it, while he’s gotten angry or annoyed we’ve not yet seen him reach the point of hatred. What things to look forward to, am I right?
Shall we get a bit spoilery? You guys know how I feel about spoilers but... Honestly MM - which is my acronym for referring to Max’s mother since she goes unnamed in the story - should have taken greater pains to get and keep this Tom out of her life. She didn’t for Max’s benefit and she’s ended up risking her heart again because of it.
Just like Isabetta says, we’ll see if he proves himself deserving of them. I know what I’ve got mapped out, but we’ll see how they twist the plan and surprise us along that path.
B: [What I think is fucking hilarious.]
Considering the subject matter, I’ve tried to inject humor into the story where I can. Maximilian James usually provides a heavy dose of humor whenever he’s involved which may be the reason I love him so much. (His relationship with Isabetta: Monster & Auntie Betta is a great example, also pretty much any time he can manage to manipulate his parents. I love this kid, I swear.)
It’s also a personal opinion that piling shit on this version of Tom/ making him go through extended paces is quite fun. If you’re keeping up with the story you’ll know what I mean and why. Either in circumstance, or coming in the form of a needling of him by Isabetta, yep - watching Unsettled!Tom jump through hoops is delightful. It’s a headcanon that Izzy deliberately fuels Max with heaps of sugar before setting him loose on Tom, though we’ve only seen one or two instances of it within the series. And while we’re on the subject, I know that Izzy isn’t everyone’s favorite, but as MM’s best friend - and an ex friend of Tom’s - it’s sort of her job to not give him an inch. Ever.
C: [What is heart-crushing and awful but fun to inflict on friends.]
Oh I could go on for days in regards to this topic and this fic. If I’d gotten my way we never would have gotten half as many chapters, at least not with this many characters participating in the present. Was that a little muddled? Yea. Sort of. Again, those that have been keeping up can probably read between the lines and guess what I mean/ what I was intending. Thank @incoherentrambler for basically threatening to disown me if I followed through.
For the most part, each chapter has moments within that are heart-crushing and awful. I still consider the first chapter to be one of the worst on both counts.
D: [What would never work with canon but the canon is shit so I believe it anyway.]
Why is this one always so complicated to try to answer? Ok. So adapting.... What would never work within the confines of the original concept of the story but that original concept was shit so I’ve changed it since then? Is that too wordy? Basically I structured that to say: this was meant to be the story wherein he doesn’t get the girl. I’m failing, cause the original concept has already been adapted to fit a different ending. Maybe one day I’ll succeed.
Trying again to answer the originally posed question. Um. Half of me wants to be rosey-eyed and optimistic and say a situation like this would never arise for him. I’d love to say that, I would, but the realist in me says: shit happens. This world is constantly proving that being an optimist is the hardest fucking thing to do. So yea, having it be that the catalyst for this story didn’t actually happen - that it was a matter of timing and an incredibly close call.... [But again, timing and close call preventing said action from happening doesn’t negate the fact that the intent was there and the choices were made to lead to that moment so really it doesn’t remove any of the sickening behavior or diminish the blame/hatred in the slightest.]
...
How many words can I use to talk around a thing in an effort to keep from spoiling a story. LMFAO.
#not that it's a real reply cause nobody asked but#reply: headcanon game#unsettled things#ask me anything#wherein the writer sort of loves the concept of the headcanon game#and has far too many headcanons swirling around within her#so yea ask me a specific one if you want about a specific story#or I'll just keep avoiding updating the stories in favor of trying to entertain and inspire the muses

((not me waking up at ungodly hours just to read fan fiction, no ma’am lmao))
I’ll, uhh, I’ll just go ahead and put a warning here for nearly 600 words’ worth of simping below the cut lmfao…
Ahem— The sweater. The sweater. THEE Sweater™. The mahfuckin’ sweater!!
“…one night with it couldn’t hurt.”, you say? Well tell that to my simp brain lmao.
Haaaaa—I figured that Kiri was gonna get booted from his room but that didn’t make the visual of his big ass laid out in the hall like a rejected and dejected puppy and less funny (not to mention heckin’ adorable). ((and like I get it—if Toshi drove all the way to another city just to blow my back out I would throw a mf outta the room too, but like damn! At least let ya mans take a shower first!!))
Ahh shit, Mina-Mina’s cosigning again. Eh, well, at least it’s not my ass she’s crawling up this time lol. Oh and bonus Sero! Neat!! Lmao
…dude, why that menu sound fire tho?? I’ve been craving beef stew for months now but this damn meat shortage means it’s either not there or overpriced so fuck me I guess :/ but I digress—back to the simping.
God he’s so tall—he’s SO damn tall and for what? For fucking what?!?! Definitely not the good of my sanity, that much is certain. And now he wants to get all teasing?? Keep fucking around and you will indeed find out, sir lol. …he then proceeds to continues to fuck around with this lil dessert move and I am ~in hell~ ((lmao, lies, give me more of this slow-burning, yearning and flirtation, always and forever))
I knew we wouldn’t be getting that good-good (aka Only One Bed™ aka one of my favorite tropes ever) but voluntarily sharing a bed for whatever reason is honestly just as good, like… Riding that line between platonic and something a bit more and having no real idea wtf you’re doing or what you really want? That’s my shit, let me suffer in that indecision with all the heart palpitations and flushed cheeks and coy glances that I cannot handle (yes, I know I need help, what of it?? lol). And then Kiri’s just being so sweet about it and !!! ((but also Stop Sock in Bed Slander 2k22. I am anemic and arthritic, I need my socks lmao))
“Don’t go, ‘mm, I like this.” Nah, it’s fine, I wasn’t doing anything with my heart anyways…
Shhh, Kats, no—you can’t say it out loud yet, you’ll jinx it lol.
“So, yeah, that’s my dick, and if we could just not talk about this that’d be great, thanks!” When I tell you my lungs fucking deflated. And Mina Is Not Helping as per usual lol. God, I’m so glad that story!me has better control of their mouth because there is a good chance—like 96%—that I would’ve unwittingly said something and made it terrible because I have absolutely NO filter in the mornings.
Ahhh, I love the smell of dumbasses in love that don’t wanna admit to being in love despite the fact that they’re so clearly in love in the morning lmao.
You’re disappointed, Mina? Well me too! Let’s make jackets for the Lil’ No-Sex club lmfaooo…
“you got him in bed last night, not them.” “Mina!” Bitch, she ain’t wrong!!
A masquerade ball, you say? Sign me tf up! Love those thing, esp. in fic, it’s always such an interesting plot device to play with…
…and wait, no, that’s the end? But I wanted to keep reading ;n;
But alas and alack, that is all there is for the moment and now I must find something else to do with my time. You were right, dearest Scarlett, I loved this chapter so much, and cannot wait for the next one (she says in as low pressure a way as possible lol)

Winning at an away game never felt quite right. The cheers for your team were always drowned out by the jeers from the other. Even the few loyal, ecstatic fans that greeted the guys when they came off the ice couldn’t really make up for the looks of disappointment on the home team's faces.
This was why all celebrations were reserved for when you got back home. One’s where everyone could share in the excitement, go out to the club that had become a regular haunt, or have a bit of a party in someone’s dorm.
So, for now, all that was left to do tonight was find some food, take showers, and rest.
Everyone trickled back to the inn, a few couples breaking off to grab a bite to eat out and others wanted to head for showers right away. You followed the latter group, not so much for the shower but you were interested to see what kind of homemade dinner the inn had waiting.
You sat in the back of Eijiro’s jeep again with Izuku beside you and Katsuki in front of him, listening as the three chattered on about the game and a particularly good play Katsuki and Tetsu had managed to pull off. And before you knew it, you were pulling up to the inn again, Hanta’s car with Mina and Denki in it too, followed shortly after.
You’d gone to your room with the intention of looking at the small menu that had been provided after changing into comfortable shorts but before you had the chance you’d gotten momentarily distracted by the sight of yourself in the mirror. Still wearing Eijiro’s sweater, it looked like your legs were bare underneath like you were practically wearing a dress, but damn was it cozy. Kept you warm all through the game and you could easily take it off and walk it down to his room right now but… one night with it couldn’t hurt.
Grabbing the menu off the desk, you sat on the foot of one of the beds, surprised at all the different options they had available. You’d been looking at the side options when muffled voices, a door slamming shut, and then a sizable thud made you crawl from the bed and poke your head outside the room to find Eijiro on the ground, head hung low.
“Man… I just wanted to shower first.” He mumbled, not even noticing anyone in the hall with him.
“Eijiro?” The redhead lifted his gaze up from the floor to meet yours. He even still had his bag beside him, hair a sweaty mess, the braid a lost cause, “What happened?”
“Toshi surprised Denks, and they’re, well who are we kidding, they’re fucking, which means, I’ve been kicked out for the foreseeable future.”
You walked over to him, standing between his widespread legs. “Is this what woulda happened if I hadn’t been outside my apartment that night you had bleach on your head?”
His eyes ran up the length of you, but he didn’t linger long enough for you to comment. “Does this mean you’ve come to save me once again?”
Sighing, you held out your hands to him, wiggling your fingers for him to take. “C’mon my damsel in distress. You know I’ll always rescue you.” He genuinely looked as if you just told him he won the lottery.
“What’s wrong?” He asked when he picked up his bag and noticed you jiggling your door handle. “Wait… please tell me you didn’t.”
“Yeah, I don’t have my key…” You admitted sheepishly, “I didn’t know the doors automatically locked.”
He has a bit of a pout on his lip. “You’re supposed to be my knight in shining hockey sweater, who’s gonna save us now?”
“I’ll still save ya.” You patted his chest, not really wanting to go down to the front desk looking like you weren’t wearing pants but you didn’t see another way out of this. “I’ll be right back.”
Eijiro let his bag fall to the floor again, leaning against your door waiting for you to come back when another door opened. “You two are the cutest couple,” Mina smirked with Hanta peaking right over her shoulder and Eijiro’s face grew red.
“We’re not a couple! Stop sayin’ that!”
“My knight in shining hockey sweater,” Hanta mocked, pretending to faint in Mina’s arms.
“I’m gonna throw my game socks at the both of you, I swear! And they’re bad, like, really bad!”
Both of them laughed like idiots, closing the door to their room.
“Are you hungry!” You yelled through the bathroom door, hoping Eijiro would hear you over the water.
“I’m always hungry!”
Right, dumb question.
“We’ve only got like ten minutes to call in an order to the kitchens, if we don’t, we’re gonna have to run out for food.”
“‘M lazy. I don’t wanna go out again!”
“Want me to read you the menu?”
“Yes! Just open the door so we can stop yelling!”
You hesitated for a moment, hand lingering over the knob of the door. He was obviously going to be well hidden behind a shower curtain. And, he was the one who told you to come in anyways. You sucked in a deep breath and pushed open the door.
Steam had covered the window and mirror, Eijiro’s dirty clothes laid in a pile behind the door, his clean ones waiting for him on the sink's edge. “So, what’s on the menu?” He asked.
Skipping over the vegetarian options that you knew would be of little interest to him, “Right. There’s an angus cheeseburger, shepherd's pie, beef stew, chicken…” You glanced up from the paper in hand and could see his silhouette perfectly. Arms moving up to his hair, watching as his head tipped back into the stream of water…
“Chicken?”
“Huh?”
He snickered, his head still with soap clinging to it popping up over the curtain, standing at his full height. “You just said ‘chicken’, chicken what?”
“Oh, it’s chicken paprikash. Sorry.” You murmured.
Eijiro ducked back into the shower. “If I didn’t know better, it sounded kinda like something had you distracted.”
“Me? No, no, I’m just trying to figure out what I want. That’s all.” That was bullshit. You knew what you wanted before you found him in the hallway but he didn’t pick on you any further, instead, he listened to you read off the lists of sides to pick from and then settled on a dish.
You could see him brace his hands against the wall of the shower, head forward with wet hair curtaining it. He let the hot water crash over his back and you could only imagine how sore he had to be after these games, the aches, and pains, not to mention the times he took on injuries. The warmth of the water had to feel heavenly.
“Still here?” His hand pushed the hair back out of his eyes and you knew he couldn’t see you through the curtain but damn it felt like he was staring right at you.
“Sorry, did you want a drink with it? It comes with one.”
“Tea, if they have it. Green or something sweet.”
“You got it.” And you turned to leave before you wasted the rest of your night watching him like a little creep.
By the time he was finished, you had the order placed and were curled up on your bed, the book you were currently reading open and your nose buried in it.
“We’ve gotta run down and pick it up but they said it should be ready in,” You looked at the alarm clock, “About fifteen minutes.”
He unceremoniously flopped down on the bed you hadn’t claimed, flat on his back, arms splayed wide. “Perfect, fifteen minute cat nap for me. Wake me up when we gotta go get it?” He turned his head towards you with a quirky grin but you agreed, returning to your book, eyes only glancing at him in the moments you flipped between pages.
And when the time came, you shook his knee and he woke right up. Dutifully following you out the door and groaning when he saw the little do not disturb sign hanging off the doorknob of his shared room.
“We can check again after dinner, they should be done by then.”
Eijiro nodded and you continued down to the dining room where you gave a man your room number and two large trays of food we brought out. If it tasted even half as good as it smelled, you were gonna be a happy woman.
You both sat on the spare bed, munching at the delicious food, picking off each other’s plates, and talking about whatever came to mind. Eijiro was happy to finish off the last little bit of your meal and then he saw the box on the edge of your tray, unopened, “What’s that.”
“Dessert.”
“I didn’t get dessert…”
“Don’t you pout,” you laughed at him and handed him over the box, “I had a feeling I’d be too full for it anyways. I just want a bite, okay?”
He was quick to open it, a slow smile taking over his face, “This is my favorite.”
“I know, that’s why I got it.” You didn’t tell him it was extra because he’d insist on paying you back which was ridiculous.
“You’re too good to me.” He gathered a bit of the treat for you, “C’mere.” Leaving you to lean over the trays and take the spoonful. You hadn’t even swallowed yet, didn’t have time to pull away when his thumb brushed against your chin, whipping off a bit that had fallen off the spoon and popped it directly in his mouth with a grin that made your heart jump.
You had to shake the feeling quickly. “Want me to go check on the room for you while you eat that?”
“That’d be great, thanks!”
You were already sliding off the bed though, walking to the door trying to calm down your racing heart.
The placard was still dangling off the door handle. “Sorry, looks like they're still goin’ at it.” His head drooped forward, taking another spoonful, finishing off the dessert.
When he brought his head back up you could actually see how tired he really was, the drive, then the game, all he probably wanted to do was get to sleep.
“Why don’t you just take my spare bed? That way you don’t have to wait until gods know when for them to be done.”
His eyes went a little wide. “You really wouldn’t mind?”
“Of course not.” He was your friend after all, one that you had started to really care for, and you couldn’t just leave him with no place to sleep for the night.
“I’d totally be fine crashing in my jeep for the night.”
“Eijiro, that’s ridiculous. The temperatures dropping and you don’t even have the roof on!”
He rubbed the back of his neck, “Right, I forgot about that...”
“Right. So, just take that bed and problem solved.”
His face was so damn sincere, “Thank you.”
After running down to the front desk a second time, in need of purchasing Eijiro a spare toothbrush since his was in the other room, you delivered it through the bathroom door and then promptly burrowed your way back into bed with your book while he completed his nightly routine.
He fished his laptop out of his bag along with a pair of headphones. “Thought I’d watch something before going to bed. It helps me shut my brain off, ya know? I can use my headphones if you wanna keep reading but I thought I’d at least offer in case you wanted to watch it with me.”
Sleep wasn’t beckoning you yet and you and Eijiro did always have the same taste in shows. “Sure, what are we watchin’?”
He threw back the covers and sat on his bed with the laptop on his knee and from memory rattled off the choices he said you could pick from, movies and TV shows he already had downloaded. After minor deliberation, you agreed on a show that he loaded up once the blankets were over him and he positioned the laptop at the edge of his bed. “Can you see alright?”
You really couldn’t, the distance between the two beds was just far enough that the screen was too small and, it seemed that even though you told Eijiro it was fine, he knew that it wasn’t.
“You could, well, you could just come over here and we could put it between us.” He suggested and you had to take a second.
The number of times you shared a sofa with Eijiro to watch TV was in the hundreds by now, laying in a bed to do the same thing was perfectly fine! You were both adults! Friends! It shouldn’t be a big deal laying on the same bed with your friend to watch a show with. So, you crawled out from under the blankets of your bed and scooted into the space he provided beside him.
He set the laptop up in the small space left between you two and pressed play. “This better?”
“Yeah, it is, thanks.”
Laying on your side with your hands tucked underneath your pillow. Only ten minutes had passed when your feet felt the chill of the crisp sheets. The last thing you wanted was to bother him but you couldn’t help but subtly rub them together to try and get some warmth back into your toes.
“Cold?”
Instantly, you stop moving. “A little. Just my feet though. I refuse to wear socks in bed. It’s so wrong.”
He lifted the laptop and rested it on his leg instead, moving his arm to invite you closer. “C’mere then. You always say I’m like a space heater when we hug. This way I can put it to good use.”
You laid in the crook of his arm, instantly feeling his body heat that he constantly generates, and felt his shin press against your feet and Eijiro laughed, “You weren’t kiddin’, they’re like little ice cubes.”
Something about his easy smile and the way he didn’t jerk away from your toes, had you feeling completely calm. Your shoulders had relaxed, you curled into his side, every notation of this being something you shouldn’t do was long gone.
You’d been so entirely at peace that you hadn’t even realized Eijiro had fallen asleep and it wasn’t long after that you had followed him.
Hours later, the moon still gracing the sky, sunlight hours away, you’d stirred in your sleep. Winking your eyes open and squinting at a bleary bright light, just at the edge of the bed wondering what it could be… Shit!
Acting quickly, you lunged over Eijiro’s sleeping body and caught the corner of the laptop that had teetered to the edge of the bed. You quietly shut it and placed it safely on the nightstand for him to put away tomorrow morning since it was obvious he wasn’t going to be doing it anytime soon with how he was snoring.
Carefully you started to move away from the sleeping giant, having every intention of going back to your own bed when he grumbled in his sleep and you froze, giving two large arms time to wrap you up and held you against his chest. Effectively stuck.
You stayed still in his grasp, heart hammering against your ribs. Innocently falling asleep together, that was one thing but, this felt very intimate. His arms low on your back, the way he moved his legs and tangled them up with yours, it felt too close, too real. You’d been considering ways to escape when you heard his snore taper off to a hum and one of his hands started softly rubbing your back.
His voice was slurred with sleep, “Don’t go, ‘mm, I like this.”
“Eijiro?” You whispered, lifting your head up to look at him because there was no possible way he could be awake and have said that, right?
Even in the dark of the room, you could make out Eijiro’s features. His red hair was a wild mess across the pillow and falling in front of his closed eyes and his lips were just slightly agape. By all accounts, he still looked fast asleep.
It was when you tried moving again that he gave a pouty little whine and it made you give in. “Alright, fine,” you shushed him, “‘M not going anywhere.”
Looking up at his face again, you could see his lips arc up into the smallest grin; proud of his victory, even in his slumber.
Your head settled against his chest, body laying atop his, legs coiled around each other.
One final thought fluttered across your mind before you fell asleep again, it was the steady drumming of Eijiro’s heart and the way it beat at the same rate as your own and how much you loved the sound.
Eijiro was woken up by the trill of his phone, vibrating so damn much it nearly wiggled its way off the nightstand but he managed to catch it at the last second. He looked down to find you still snuggled into his chest, one hand clinging to his shirt and the other, well, he could just feel it behind his shoulder.
“Sorry ‘bout this.” He grumbled into the top of your head and with his free hand tried to cover your ear.
“WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU!” Was Katsuki’s greeting the moment he accepted the call.
“Morning, man.”
“Morning, man,” Katsuki mocked, “Don’t you morning man, me! Dunce face said you never went back to your room last night and now you’re not at fuckin’ breakfast. Where are you?”
Before Eijiro could answer him, you let out the most adorable noise he’d ever heard. Just a yawn as your head seemed to turn to try to get away from the conversation.
“Who the fuck was that- wait…” Eijiro’s heart started to race, “Squeaks isn’t here either. Hah, finally grew a pair, huh?”
“Bakugo- no- you’ve got the wrong-“
“‘Bout damn time, now put your clothes back on and get down here. I wanna get headed back soon.”
The line went dead before he had a chance to clarify a damn thing.
He’d worry about it in a couple minutes, right now you were soft and warm and he was going to savor every moment of this you let him have. He might not have known when the hell you got in his arms like this but he couldn’t have been happier about it.
“Good morning to you.” He mumbled when your head shift back, now that Katsuki wasn’t yelling anymore.
“Why does he gotta be so mad so early?”
“Because he needs more coffee.” He chuckles, but then you’re pushing yourself up, about to say something else only to abruptly stop and oh fuck did he know why.
What he didn’t know was why he hadn’t realized it sooner. He’d been too comfortable. Too relaxed but now there was heat rising up his neck and he knew it was flooding his cheeks too. There was no way to avoid it, no way you hadn’t felt it, fucking hell, it was pressed right up against your stomach!
He took in a deep breath and faced the situation head on. “So, yeah, that’s my dick, and if we could just not talk about this that’d be great, thanks!” And, he gave you exactly no time to say a single thing before lifting you off him and setting you down on the bed so he could quickly roll out of the blankets and make a break for the bathroom.
You sat on the bed where he left you, mildly dumbfounded over what just happened, and for a whole minute, just one thought occupied your entire mind; how’s it that big!
There was no possible way you could keep this entirely to yourself. You sprung for your phone and triple checked you were on Mina’s chat:
You: Were you just not gonna warn me that Kirishima has a MASSIVE cock!?!?
Mina: He does!? REALLY!
You were in the middle of responding when a flurry of messages came through and it looked like Eijiro wasn’t the only one who needed to correct someone about last night.
Mina: Wait a sec Mina: How do you know he has a massive cock? Mina: OH MY GODS!!!! Mina: YOU GUYS FINALLY FUCKED!
You: No
Mina: Just platonic… BULLSHIT!
You: Mina, seriously, we didn’t.
Mina: Then how do you know! Did you, like, walk in on him in the shower? Because that would have been a good time to hop on that apparently massive cock.
You: We cuddled. Morning wood happened.
Mina: You cuddled this morning and he got hard?
You: Technically we slept together. He woke up with it.
Mina: If you slept together why are you now surprised by the size of his dick?
It wasn’t even nine in the morning and you were getting a headache. Pinching the bridge of your nose. You heard the faucet turn meaning he’d be out in a second.
You: We DID NOT fuck. But yeah, big, big dick.
Mina: I want details ASAP! Like, did you actually see it? Big as in length or width? OR BOTH? You’re so damn lucky…
Her text went on but you shoved your phone away when Eijiro walked back into the room and though you tried your hardest, your eyes instantly went to his groin for a second, the faintest outline now visible in his dark sweats now that his erection had time to go down.
By the time your eyes had trailed up to his face, Eijiro had been turning for his bag but, not quick enough. He caught you staring, that was obvious, just as obvious as you seeing his still pink cheeks and the smirk he was wearing.
“So,” he changed the subject, “Sleep well?”
“Better than I have in a while actually.”
“I know what you mean.” There was a lightness to his voice. Despite the awkwardness that just happened he looked completely sincere, even a little bashful with his hand on the back of his neck admitting, “I’d do it again.”
“Yeah? Me too.”
You hurried off to the bathroom with a change of clothes while he packed away his laptop and other belongings he’d had about the room. Brushing your teeth and washing your face, then sliding into jeans and a fresh t-shirt. Your hoodie was still on the hook at the back of the door, a reminder to give Eijiro his sweater back.
He had everything packed by the time you came out, everything besides that crisp white jersey, draped over the arm of the chair where you left it the night before.
“Left it out on purpose.” He told you when you went to hand it back, “Check the weather.”
“Holy shit! It’s dropped like twenty degrees since yesterday!”
“Wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to pile in someone else’s car, but, if you still wanna ride in the jeep you’re definitely gonna want this. It’s gonna get real- oof- Well, hey there, what’s the for?”
You didn’t know why that exact moment felt like the best to throw your arms around his torso but you did it anyway. You didn’t know what made him care, or why he kept smiling those little grins that had just one corner of his mouth tugging up but it made you feel so completely content that you couldn’t physically help holding onto him for just a second, well, maybe a minute.
“Just because.” It was the easier answer rather than trying to explain to him all the feelings that were running around your head. And he seemed happy to accept it.
His arms wrapped around you, hugging you close, and he kept hugging you until you broke away upon hearing his stomach growl. “C’mon, before Katsuki calls again.”
You tugged the sweater on, slung your bag over your shoulder, and walked out of the room together. Breakfast consisted of a bar with a plethora of different options, enough for you and Eijiro to happy eat your fill even if you were running late. Breakfast also consisted of each of you having to convince Katuski and Mina respectively that you two did not fuck.
“I’m so disappointed in you,” She grumbled and pushed a piece of sausage back and forth when the guys went to go get drink refills, “You two were literally in bed with each other, cuddling, and you didn’t just go for it!”
There wasn’t enough time to explain to Mina why just going for it seemed like such a horrible idea. But, your eyes followed the pair of friends over to the juice bar, watching as Eijiro smiled and fielded the conversation away from Katsuki’s gruff attitude with two pretty girls wearing your universities colors. Loyal fans who traveled all the way to see them play.
“Don’t you even start comparing!” Your eyes went back to Mina whose arms were folded over her chest.
“What do you mean!”
“I see where you’re looking and I’m telling you not to fucking do it! You’re so much better than any of the little ice bunnies that follow the boys around. Stop comparing yourself to them. I know it’s hard but, just remember,” She wiggled her eyebrows, “you got him in bed last night, not them.”
“Mina!”
“I’m just saying!”
She didn’t have time to say anything else before Katsuki came back to the table and Eijiro shortly after.
Afterward, everyone was gathered in the lobby with their various bags, going through the check out process and talking over plans for the rest of the day.
Katsuki wanted to throw in another evening practice once everyone was back on campus but he was easily outvoted.
“We won,” Denki reminded him, “And that means we celebrate! I believe it is Mirio’s turn to host,” The older blonde cheerfully smiled, “So, dear captain, we will not be practicing tonight. We will be dancing our butts off celebrating another victory!”
Mirio slung his arm over Denki’s shoulders. “Tamaki and I are gonna stop and get supplies on the way home. Should have the place ready by seven. We won’t keep you out too late.”
Katsuki still complained but he did it quietly.
Izuku was the last of the group to check out, everyone else already heading out to the parking lot and waving goodbyes. You stood in the cool, dreary air by the jeep while you waited on the others, thankful for the hockey sweater you pulled on again, waiting for the others, and were mildly surprised when only Eijiro jogged over.
“Izuku and Katsuki are catching a ride back with Hanta since,” He gestured to the lack of roof, “and Denks is going with Hitoshi… I really won’t blame you if you wanna go with Suka or someone.”
You knew he wouldn’t but you also would feel terrible about him driving all the way back alone. So, you chucked your bag into the backseat and climbed up into the passengers. “Ready when you are!”
He wasted no time blasting the heat the second he got inside. Handing you the AUX cord and telling you to play whatever you liked. The day might have been cold but you barely even realized it, too busy singing and laughing to give a damn.
About an hour into the drive though, you got a text alert and turned the music down for Eijiro to also hear, “Izuku’s plotting.”
“Bet Katsuki’s gonna love that. What’s going on?”
“He really liked that inn and he checked to see if there was a chance we could stay there again when we play them in January.” You explained, “Not only do they have the room, but they’re also holding a party that Friday night. Apparently, they hold one every Friday in January but this one is a masquerade. He’s wondering if anyone else would wanna go to it. Mina’s already agreed.”
“Tell him I do too!” You were a little surprised by his eagerness. “I love parties! And I’ve never been to a masquerade! All the cool masks and stuff! I think it sounds fun. Do you?”
“Yeah, I’ll tell him it’s a yes from the both of us then!”
What you didn’t share with Eijiro were the texts that came in immediately after.
Mina: Of course, Y/N answers for the both of them. Mina: Are you guys gonna actually go together? Mina: As a couple!
“What?” Eijiro asked when you sighed.
“Just Mina being Mina.”
And Eijiro just nodded along, knowing exactly what you meant.
