this post will mean nothing to anyone who isn't me. sorry.
things i like about breath of the wild:
so much stuff to do
beautiful
wonderful storytelling for an open world environment
i can't even put it into words. she's my best friend
things i dislike about breath of the wild
no triforce?
calamity/dark beast ganon fight is too easy, but this can be reconciled by playing on master mode. sorta.
nothing else though. i 100% every time i replay. i live in there.
things i like about age of calamity:
get to see hyrule before it was in ruins. hyrule castle, castle town, the great plateau, the citadel, the original royal ancient tech lab, lon lon ranch. some stables and villages are set up so you can buy from merchants. one of my favorite aspects of this is that you can see deya village, which is inhabited by zora!
what if everything turned out okay au
playing as the other champions as well as their descendants. i looove playing as revali and teba. you can even play as the great fairies and calamity ganon.
a lot of the cut scenes/story telling fit almost exactly with the cut scenes in breath of the wild
you can collect almost every piece of armor that's in botw + a tunic that only appears in hw:aoc
horde battles are so fun, actually.
weapons don't break! they can't be dropped either.
lynels are easier to fight
long. the cut scenes are about 2 hours long altogether and some stages can take a long time to complete because there is constant melee. you don't notice though. or at least i didn't.
calamity ganon is so sick
kill counter on every level.
being able to control the divine beasts
shadow link
the scenes between sidon and mipha. ooooh my god.
things i dislike about age of calamity
link is disproportionately strong compared to literally every other fighter.
some fighters' styles are stupid. riju and yunobo for example.
i wish there to be a walkable/open map. let me in there.
no triforce?
things i like about tears of the kingdom:
rideable dragons
mines
caves
fierce deity armor without an amiibo
big map
horses from your botw save file!!!
sooooo cool when ganon parries your flurry rush
things i dislike about tears of the kingdom:
storytelling feels haphazard and sloppy
changed the name of malice to gloom for some reason
mineru
i'm serious. paya should have been the sage of spirit.
the open world is slightly restricted by the storyline
i miss revali's gale. it's more useful than what tulin does
oh also i don't think tulin should have been the sage of wind. every other sage is a leader among their people and in their villages so it'd make more sense if teba was the sage of wind.
this is another reason why paya should have been the sage of spirit. fuck mineru.
the great fairy fountains are in different places for some reason
no guardians
why is there a second temple of time.
the story of hyrule's founding doesn't really fit with any other lore introduced in botw. or any other loz game for that matter. with the retconned timeline you'd think they'd put more thought into that.
link's house. either of them.
no triforce?
#this post is long. sorry.#the triforce thing is what really bugs me though. there's a lot of visual references to it on larger landmarks like the temple of time#+ on the royal family's clothing. i think it's even on the knights armor you can buy in hateno village#and it appears on zelda's hand. implying that she holds the full power of the triforce#there's no dialogue from npcs that mention it whatsoever#in totk it's not even what ganondorf wants#and it imbues zelda with a sacred power that seems to serve a single purpose#oh and the matrilineal power of the goddess doesn't really make sense either#but it's not like i spend a lot of time thinking about this or anything.....#anyway i guess what im trying to say is i didnt really like tears of the kingdom#and i REALLY like age of calamity#posts that only make sense to me
