“You’re a fucking superstar, Nolan, you need to realize that.”

Every part of him that maybe kind of considered the fact that the two of you could possibly be sort of friends burst into flames and those flames engulfed the entire restaurant.

“Thanks, thank you, that’s.. that’s really kind of you to say.”

“You’re welcome.”

The two of you sat in silence as you waited for Travis to return with the food, you picking at your nails while Nolan gave his undivided attention to his phone.

What felt like centuries passed before Travis returned with three sandwiches in hand, “I grabbed yours too, Pat.”

“Thanks,” he whispered and quickly unwrapped the sub, looking everywhere except in your direction.

Seeing Nolan in person and watching him interact with Travis was hard for you. As pathetic as it was, you hated that you still knew his sandwich order and you felt really stupid for having to hold back your tears when Travis brought him something different.

Only a few months had passed and Nolan had changed, but so had you.

“This has been cool but I’ve gotta get out of here,” Nolan spoke up, “need to meet up with Claude, right Teeks?”

“Yeah, you have that really important meeting so you should go.”

You saw Nolan give him a thankful glance as he left the restaurant and you noted that Travis rolled his eyes in return.

“So, how spectacularly did that plan fail? Nolan doesn’t want me, bud. He booked it out of here the first chance he got.”

“Oh shut up,” Travis grinned at you, “you think you know it all but you’ve got no fucking clue. Patty’s an idiot and he knows it. He’s just scared.”

“He’s not scared, and this was a waste of my time. This entire thing has been a waste of time.”

“Wait, you need to listen, I need to tell y-”

“Save it Travis,” you cut him off, “I’m done here.”

You stalked up to the counter and asked for a box before returning to your table and packing up your untouched sandwich and leaving the deli as quickly as your feet could carry you.

“It’s only been a few months since we broke up, why did I get my hopes up that he would have changed his mind? What was I thinking?”

It was the last thing you wanted to do, but you dropped your guard long enough to call your mother and finally tell her everything. Until now, she had no idea why you and Nolan had ended your relationship and definitely none of the details. You sobbed into the phone as she tried her best to console you.

“Honey, I’m so sorry you’re going through this. You know how much I love Nolan but maybe it’s time you let him go,” she paused for a moment before speaking again, “sometimes the people we love the most aren’t the ones for us. It’s unfair and it’s cruel but maybe it’s for the best.”

You repeated your mother’s words over and over in your head as you unfollowed Nolan’s limited social media and blocked the numbers you had for him from your phone.

Online dating was a completely foreign concept to you, but you threw caution to the wind and downloaded every app available, making sure that your profiles contained your best photos and most interesting short bios.

Nolan wasn’t hiding the fact that he was using dating apps, he just wasn’t talking about it at all unless anyone asked. No one did, so he kept it to himself.

He was laying on his couch, idly swiping through tinder when the last person he expected to see showed up on his screen.

“What the fuck?”

He clicked on your profile and looked through the photos you posted, unable to deny that you looked fucking incredible. Nolan quickly swiped in favor of a match with you, despite his his strange behavior, because maybe this is what the two of you needed to finally reconnect.

Deciding tinder wasn’t enough, he fired off a text to you.

“Hey, I know I’ve weird but I’d really like to grab coffee with you, if you’re willing.”

Nolan lay on his couch in silence for two hours, with no response from you at all, before deciding to let it go and sleep away his conflicted emotions.

“I shouldn’t match with him, right?”

“Of course not, do not match with him. Make him sweat.”

You swiped Nolan away and responded to his text with a quick response of “i’m not willing.”

It was time to move on and time to let him go.

Interestingly enough, you did match with someone that was kind of in his circle. The Islanders were playing the Flyers tomorrow and you couldn’t deny how attractive a certain Isles player that you might have matched with was.

“Nolan’s not going to like this.”

“Nolan doesn’t get a fucking say anymore. You are free to spend your free time with anyone you want,” you friend Ash encouraged you to message Mat, telling you that it was time to break free of Nolan.

Mat. Mathew Barzal, he was a super player for the Islanders and you thought he might be just as beautiful as Nolan. The fact that the two of you had matched on Tinder was a surprise but you were taking advantage of it. You didn’t have to do anything though, because he messaged you first.

Hey, I know you.

How so?

Nolan Patrick, not the case anymore though, eh?

Nope.

Interesting. Down to meet up after the game?

Absolutely.

You hadn’t planned on going to the game but watching Barzal skate circles around the Flyers made you happy you had changed your mind.

The Barzal jersey you wore to the game had Travis constantly sending you death glares and Nolan ignoring your existence.

“You don’t get to sit on our side of the stadium and wear that fucking jersey!”

Travis pounded on the glass as he directed his anger at you, “what the fuck are you doing?!”

Ignoring his yelling, you caught Mat’s eye across the ice and gave him a wink he definitely didn’t see. That didn’t matter though, because both Travis and Nolan saw it.

A few minutes passed before Nolan slammed hard into Mat, hitting him hard in the face with his stick. Travis was there in seconds and the two of them were hitting Barzal like it was a fight to death.

“Fucking hell,” you whispered, and excused yourself from your seat.

You spent the rest of the game sitting outside the arena, opposite the opposing team’s locker room. Mat didn’t mean much to you, but he didn’t deserve to be beaten up because your annoying ex boyfriend couldn’t figure out his feelings.

“That wasn’t fun.”

You were seated in the back of an Uber with Mat Barzal dressed in a nice suit, sporting wet hair, a bloody nose and a black eye.

“I’m so sorry, really, this is all my fucking fault.”

“Yeah,” he smiled easily, “it is, but whatever. My job is to take hits, those weren’t the first and they won’t be the last.”

“Still, fuck, Mat I’m so sorry.”

“It’s fine, makes me look tough,” he laughed softly.

The Uber stopped in front of his hotel and he guided you up to his room.

“I’m going to take a shower and then sleep on the couch, the master bed is yours.”

“Mat, what?”

“Sleep well, there is more comfortable stuff for sleeping in the dresser,” he smiled at you before heading into the master bath.

You lay on Mat’s bed listening to the water run. No part of you wanted to sleep while every ounce of you wanted him. You were tired of pining for Nolan, you wanted Mat and you hoped he wanted you back.

Mat cut the water and you waited impatiently for him to exit the bathroom. When he did, you were more than happy to see his half naked body wrapped in a towel and the surprised look on his face. Rising from the bed, you made you way over to him and wrapping your arms around his neck, you softly pecked his lips.

“I want you, Barzal.”

“You sure?”

“Absolutely,” you separated your body from his and pulled your (his) shirt over your head, “please, take me.”

You woke up naked in an unfamiliar hotel room, feeling warm with a muscular arm wrapped around your waist. Shifting beneath his weight, you turned to face Mat. He slept soundly, his dark hair falling in his face as you took in the sight of him.

As harsh as it might be, maybe it was time to find yourself a new team, and the Islanders were looking ripe for the picking.

Suga said, “I didn’t want to get hurt, because it means losing to prejudice. I didn’t want to be upset.” The dirt spoons’ voices were heard. Mockery started. They didn’t throw it away, they buried it deep. They then met ignorance. They didn’t spit it out, they engulfed it. Ridicule poured down. They stood up against it with blood, sweat and tears. They are BTS.

LA November 2017, AMAs. The Chainsmokers introduced the 16th performance. The second-to-last performance, right before the ending.

“We are going to announce next performer. They are international superstar. Here’s BTS, which is having huge fan over here.”

Mnet M COUNTDOWN, June 13th 2013. BTS appeared. Their debut single was ‘No More Dream’, but they could no longer dream. Reality was reality. The company’s head, Bang Shihyuk, was met with doubts. “Isn’t he a ballad composer?” The name BTS was ridiculed. “They’re going to become cannon fodders.” The company, Bighit, was taken pity on. “They will never make it with a company this small.” And their genre, hip hop, was the subject of mockery. “Idols doing hip hop? What kind of nonsense is that?” In fact, it was bitterness from the start. “I thought the sea was here but it turned out to be a desert”. The first desert they faced was the trainee days. Dicon’s first question, too, is about their trainee days.

(Dicon) Seven members came together. No, seven dreams came together.

RM: I wanted to tell people my stories, with my voice, in front of many people. This was the start of my dream.

SUGA: Billboard, AMA... None of them was on my wishlist. It was too far away. It was a goal impossible to achieve. At that time, everything I ever dreamed of was for many people to listen to my music.

JUNGKOOK: Nothing was certain. Those days were so vague. I didn’t even know how to dream. The future? I only looked forward and ran.

V: Just becoming a trainee made me so happy already. Learning was fun. I could even dance every day. I spent my days working hard. At that time, the present was more important to me than an unseen future.

JIN: My dream was to hold a concert. I wanted to become one with our fans through our songs.

JIMIN: Meeting senior singers felt amazing to me. I wanted to become like them. They were so awesome.

J-HOPE: My goals were always clear. To stand on stage, to become the best, but first, it was to survive. Trainee days were a continuous survival game. If one comes in, another drops out. I had to endure in between. But...

But the ideal was the sky and reality was the ground. It wasn’t easy, like what their song said.

J-HOPE: It wasn’t easy having to part ways with my fellow trainee friends. They were like my family. That reality pained me so much.

RM: There were times I felt unsure about my future. Like my life is not +, nor it is 0, it’s just −... The thought that ‘oh, we’re still preparing only’ tired me out.

JIMIN: When I saw a wall showing up in front of my eyes, it felt like no matter how much I do I still couldn’t work it out? The wall of reality was higher than I thought. But still, I had no thought of giving up.

JIN: I started learning the choreography properly in preparation for the debut. I felt distressed because it didn’t turn out the way I wanted. I kept getting scolded too.

JUNGKOOK: At that time we went through an enormous amount of practice, to the point that it was hard to handle it. But after we debuted, I felt like, like I’m a frog in the well*? I blamed myself that I was lacking too much.

V: For me, dancing was fun. No matter how hard practicing was , it’s something I like so I could endure. If anything, it was having to live away from my parents that was hard for me. I’ve been living away from them for a long time so I miss them.

SUGA: The cheapest meal they have near the company costed 6,000 won ($5.59). A 300,000 won allowance was nowhere near enough to live for a month. I took up a delivery part-time job alongside MIDI lessons. I had a car accident then. My shoulders were badly injured. I thought of giving up but... The members stopped me from leaving. The company also waited for me.

Suga also express his agony at the time through rapping.

They had each other. They are each other’s strength. Thus, You Never Walk Alone. Seven members walked together, encouraging each other.

RM: I remember I once said ‘Shouldn’t we at least perform at Olympic Gymnastics Stadium once before we die?”.

JIN: Namjoon’s always like that. He holds each of us and shouts out fighting. It motivates us a lot. I like laughing together with our members. It’s the reason why I could endure.

J-HOPE: The seven of us were chosen. Since then, we only looked forward and ran. We trusted and relied on each other. We shed blood and sweat together. We decided to try no matter what result comes and motivated each other.

JIMIN: The members told me. ‘I really hope you would go together with us.’ That’s the power of the words. I was able to work even harder. I already had a goal in my mind that is to go together until the end, so I didn’t give up.

V: It was hard, of course. It was inevitable. But I wasn’t the only one who had it hard. None of us didn’t have it hard. That’s why I gained strength even more. We gained strength from looking at each other.

SUGA: That’s true. The members were the reason I could make it through those days. They are the best stimulant. When the members practiced, I composed songs. It was also when I wrote the beats for ‘Tomorrow’ and ‘Agust D’ (mixtape).

JUNGKOOK: It was the day of the showcase. After coming down from stage, i felt emotional. I wasn’t the only one who felt so. We hugged each other and cried. I remember that day.

RM: I couldn’t think of anything. My thoughts were full of ‘I have to do well’, ‘I have to pull this off’, ‘I have to end this’, things that we planned. Our first stage ended like that. From the name, hairstyle, even the sunglasses, everything was a standing joke. Hurt? Maybe it’s because I tried to forget it, I don’t really remember it well now.

SUGA: When the response rushed in ‘Where did those kids come from?’, I was totally excited. I wasn’t really hurt by criticism. I heard a lot of it from before debut so...

J-HOPE: I only have good memories of the debut stage too. I got to stand on the stand I wished for so much. I still can’t forget that thrill. The cheers of people who didn’t know us still show up vividly in my mind. The problem was the next day. I guess I was too excited. I made a lot of mistakes during ‘Music Bank’ rehearsal. I remember being scolded a lot...

JIMIN: I didn’t have time to think about people’s stares and reactions. I thought if I work a little bit harder, I would get a little bit better. I practiced while monitoring.

JIN: I continued to observe even during other senior singers’ stages. And one more thing is, I envied of the support from (their) fans.

V: I don’t remember much the hurt I got back then. I already forgot everything. More than anything else, I was fascinated by the fact that I appeared on TV. I remember calling my grandmother and parents to ask if they had seen the music program.

JUNGKOOK: There was a lot of hate comments. But I have to admit, because I was lacking a lot then. If anything, I clenched my teeth and practiced even more days and nights. I would come to the practice room whenever I can.

What could be their next goal? They said it was “to survive”. In reality, they had to survive.

JIN: There was a lot of groups debuting around the same time as us. We couldn’t ease ourselves yet just because we made it to the stage. There were many times we didn’t get to perform the whole song too. Every time it happened, we felt really upset. We practiced even more desperately. We thought as long as we have the talent, we wouldn’t be pushed out.

SUGA: Competition at music programs was really fierce. We wanted to keep making music, so we wanted to stand on stage.

J-HOPE: I think it’s the same for every trainee. We were really desperate. Everyday, we thought that we had to survive on this stage.

RM: We had to show ourselves in a short time. We had to draw people’s attention. We were also well aware of the fact that there’s no next time. We had no choice but to prove ourselves.

JIMIN: It felt like tapping at the ground to go up? I couldn’t see anything in front me of. It wasn’t something possible with passion only. But still, the only thing I could do was to push myself endlessly. Like ‘this is no big deal’...

V: I met and part ways with many friends in my trainee days. I had to survive from there.

JUNGKOOK: I don’t know what kind of confidence I had. ‘I will become something’, ‘We will become something.’ I was certain.

Their practice room stank of sweat. Their performances were excellent. Their rap was resonant. That’s how they stood out.

JIN: We were different from the start. It’s not our strategy to stand out, we only wanted to do music. More than anything,I trusted our members and followed our company. I wasn’t afraid.

SUGA: Yes, we weren’t afraid, but people were afraid of us.

RM: I have been rapping ever since and I love music, so I believed I could deliver it better than anyone else. Looking back now, there are many times I did not but...

J-HOPE: We didn’t compare ourselves to other groups. We did our own things. It can be shocking (to other people), but I hoped that shock left as strong ‘impression’ to them.

JIMIN: We wanted to talk about the concerns teenagers had, because they were also ours. Hip hop was the best kind of music to showcase our thoughts.

V: I believed our strength is that we’re different from others.

JUNGKOOK: At that time, my top goal was the team. I couldn’t cause trouble to them. My ultimate task was to do good at my role.

BTS fought, with themselves. Like what V has said. “It’s important that we do well. I was certain that that way, we would be recognized.” In the end, the boys were right. Prejudice went away. Of course, it. was. no. coincidence. There was a reason.

RM: It didn’t change right away. It changed little by little. I think it’s from after ‘I NEED U’.

JIN: ‘MIC Drop’. A stage that many people said to be cool.

SUGA: ‘DNA’ stage at AMAs. It changed misunderstanding to understanding.

J-HOPE: There’s a song called ‘Born Singer’. It shows ourselves and our thoughts.

JIMIN: I recommend ‘Save ME’.

V: ‘MIC Drop’.

JUNGKOOK: ‘I NEED U’, ‘Dope’.

'Dicon' picked Jungkook's solo song 'Begin'. The background of this song itself is sincerity. Producer Bang Shihyuk asked them if they had any stress. Jungkook said, "I don't. I went (to Seoul) not knowing anything when I was only 15. It's what I really wanted to do so..." And he continued. "My only stress is that the hyungs I'm living with have to go through a hard time. I don't know about everything else. It pains me the most seeing them stressed. I hope they won't have to go through a hard time." He cried. Bang Shihyuk PD cried. J-hope cried. RM cried. Jin cried. Suga cried. V, Jimin too cried. And Jungkook sobbed.

That's how 'Begin' was born. Only, it wasn't just the beginning of Jungkook. Below are answers from the older members.

RM: I can never forget how Jungkook cried and said 'My stress is that the hyungs are stressed'. Jungkook doesn't usually express his emotions so it hit me even more.

JIN: It reminds me of how Jungkook cried in front of Bang Shihyuk PD. I felt sorry but also proud of him, and he also looked cute.

SUGA: We were stressed of course. Exhausted even. So every time I listen to 'Begin', I feel odd. But if I watch Jungkook's solo performance, I only have one though that he's cool.

J-HOPE: I'm proud of Jungkook. He tells his own story through his dance and song. It's a song that shows Jungkook's energy greatly.

V: I still remember what Jungkook said while crying. That story is reflected fully in the song.

JIMIN: We gain strength even more thanks to Jungkook. It's the 'Begin' of all of us.

When I was fifteen, I had nothing The world was too big and I was too small Now I can't even imagine How I used to have no scent and empty I pray Love you my brother Thanks to my brothers, I had feelings and became me <Begin>

The dark night passed and the morning shone bright. What could be their motivation? One certain thing is, it's time to raise thumbs up.

RM: Faith. I always try to show that my faith wasn't wrong. Maybe that's why I always attempt something, because I want to prove (my faith).

SUGA: Pride. Our fans like our music and wait for our stage. I wanted to give them pride.

JIMIN: I had a goal that I want to achieve. By my side, there are the members and the fans that are always together with me.

JIN: The reason we could endure through it is thanks to our fans. They gave us love so I couldn't disappoint them.

J-HOPE: That's correct. Our fans are our biggest motivation. When I look at fans who love our music, I feel that I'm still alive. Thanks to them, we could become who we are now.

V: Thus, 'ARMY'.

JUNGKOOK: I wanted to bring them good performances and music.

In the end, every story concludes with ARMY*. It's always like that. Every conversation with them ends with ARMY. Of course, the ending of 'Dicon' should be ARMY too, shouldn't it? "If we are together, even the desert becomes the sea" was especially heartfelt.

RM: 'Can the desert become the sea?' is my endless self-doubt and self-examination that I have been holding since predebut. It was the biggest answer to that question. I couldn't help tearing up knowing their love for me.

JIN: I wonder when they prepared it to move us this deeply. I was so thankful. My tears couldn't stop.

SUGA: Lately, I'm more easily moved to tears. Perhaps it's a sense of security, or fear, or happiness, or sorrow. These complex emotions just flood in.

J-HOPE: The fans' events never fail to give me chills. I know their devotion and sincerity, so when that energy's conveyed (through the events), the synergy explodes. They moved me greatly. I'm always thankful to them and love them.

JIMIN: If I could express how I felt then in words... I would be able to write a few books. That moment made me realize 'that's right, our fans are always by our side'. I'm so happy that I keep tearing up.

V: When I read the messages the fans send, I think of the hardships I went through. Sometimes it also makes me sad, the thought that we're finally seeing the light.

JUNGKOOK: I could feel everything on that stage. ARMY's breath, voices, ARMY's cheers, tears. I'm moved greatly every time I see the fans. I made a great decision becoming BTS...

So, letters to ARMY?

RM: I'm learning about the meaning of 'us'. It's like there's no longer 'us', just the many moments of 'you' and 'me'. I want to learn about the true meaning of 'us', where we are truly together, with ARMYs. I hope each and every one of our members can mean 'us' in that sense to ARMYs. We may be living somewhere in the world, doing different things. But we are breathing together through music and performances. I want to comfort them through all the loneliness and solitude that humans can't help but embrace, and live in this world together. That's what I want to do.

JIN: Thanks to ARMY, my time at where they said to be the desert felt like I was at the sea. Thank you for making me happy. I love you.

SUGA: It feels like I’m flying so high. I see so much and so far away. I thought I would only feel happy above the clouds, but sometimes when I look down, I feel scared. I take courage from the fact that we’re flying together. I’m afraid of falling, but I’m not afraid of landing. Thank you for being with us. I’m forever grateful and love you.

J-HOPE: Thank you for always supporting and loving us. I’m happy to become your hope.

JIMIN: ARMYs. I believe you know how I feel when I look at you. I can take a step forward thanks to having you beside. I’ll work hard to show you more and give you bigger love. I love you.

V: I hope you won’t get hurt and your every day will be filled with happiness only. I really love you.

JUNGKOOK: I’ll always be here. ARMY can come to see us whenever you miss us. And you can leave whenever you have to leave, or whenever you want to. But please remember this one thing only. I’ll always be here.

Jin added in, "Yes, that's right. ARMY sent us here. We'll work harder. We'll continue to do our best in the future. Thank you." "I don't even know what surprise awaits anymore now. We made it here thanks to the support from ARMY. I wonder what is waiting for us ahead..." Yes. Like Jimin said, Billboard was the start for these international superstars.

Episode #3 “Actually, we are really nervous.”

May 21st 2017, V had a stomach ache. Finally, it was the day of BBMas. They were the first idol group to be nominated for ‘Top Social Artist’ category. At MGM Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, V was nowhere to be seen. He showed up a little bit later. “Sorry, I had a stomach ache so I was late.” V’s image was (somewhat) chic and cool, so it was unfamiliar seeing him shy. But it was heartwarming. We asked if he was nervous. The members all said in chorus. “Actually, we are really nervous. We just pretend to be relaxed. We’re so nervous.” 2017 Billboard Music Awards red carpet, Jungkook was clutching his handkerchief tightly.

Episode #4 "Hello."

What BTS has to surpass, is BTS. So did they outdo themselves? September 2017, a month of continuous tough schedule. More than a week of time was spent to shoot the jacket photo and music video. They put their heart into every shot. On the last day, they attempted to film an one-take shot. It would show a continuous opening starting from V to J-hope, RM. Just one misstep, one second of losing focus and it would be an NG. The movements needed to go smoothly. Again, it was the last day of shooting. They couldn’t help but feel tired. But BTS laughed, thanks to the oldest and youngest member. The older, Jin, and the younger, Jungkook, chatted and teased each other, even showing slapstick gags. Laughters rang through the tiring day. ‘LOVE YOURSELF 承 Her’. BTS made it. They set records.

Episode #6 "We had the photo of our life at LA airport."

That photo was nowhere near a life shot. It was bare taken, out-focused due to being pushed by foreign fans. But J-hope and V gave thumbs up and added it was "the best photo". We were embarrassed. Calling a lucky shot 'the best photo', it was probably their way of thanking for covering their news at LA. We know that this is their kindness. BTS' kindness. It was their heartfelt words that made us drop our weapons, take off and throw away our 'bulletproof vests'.

Episode #7 “You will watch our performance right?”

“You will watch our performance right?”... What confidence they had. An AMAs performance on top of that. We asked their order. “When is your turn?” “We don’t know too.” They replied cheerfully as if it was of no importance. AMAs director wanted BTS to have a collaboration stage. Like the one Psy had with MC Hammer, they wanted BTS to perform with famous stars. But BTS politely declined. “The seven of us are the coolest on stage.” This is BTS’ pride. They have been together for seven years. They shed blood, sweat, tears, and the fruit they bore was the AMAs stage. The DNA that is matching steps just by looking into the eyes. America went wild. They were blown away by their synchronized choreography, charmed by their live singing. This was the start of international superstars.

Last time was seriously just posted a few minutes ago, so let us carry on with Prom.

Lemon had to do something at City Hall for school. She then spends her Friday night out in front doing her homework.

In fact, she doesn’t come home until the notification that her curfew is in an hour. Have fun!

Pop is gay and Pineapple is actually bi. Since Pop is stuck here until Graduation, let’s go find him a boyfriend.

Miltan Cookies lives next door, is single and is rich. The fact that he’s cute doesn’t hurt either.

I am controlling Pop just long enough to nab himself a spouse before he graduates and moves out.

Not that I would force you to watch it all, but a few hours later, they are engaged.

Now that Pop is on his way out, Pineapple starts guitar skilling.

Cherry is evil dancing in the garden.

Tangy and Lemon (I think) are now forced to watch the guitar.

And it’s just going to get worse with traps around here.

Graduation time!

Note that everyone except Blackberry put on formals.

Valedictorian and Most Likely to Offend Others? Ha.

Miltan was invited over a little while later.

Then I got distracted. Blackberry won her game, but did not get a promotion. There is just a tiny sliver to go.

Unfortunately, we cannot count this as done just yet.

When you’re trying to have a small wedding, but didn’t know the family would watch.

They cancelled the wedding to celebrate birthdays.

Then it was time for the wedding.

This was a concern when I saw it, but I was daring and proceeded onward.

And this is my first Error 12 in at least 6 years. It did not crash my game as expected. It just closed out. I tried to save several more time with no luck.

So, I grabbed everyone up in the town with Porter, which did work. The game crashed when I tried to go into Edit Town to save the house. Afterward, I checked my sims 3 folder and the cache’s were in the 500mb range, so I’m not sure if that contributed to the issue or what.

Pop is the first one up for download.

Replay: Pop said no to a home wedding after a horrible nightmare the night before when the whole thing was ruined somehow. He left City Hall and headed straight to Miltan’s house where they had a private wedding.

His mom and dad were on their way to work when he decided to move out and not wait for the teen birthdays for his quad siblings. The move went smoothly and he was excited to start the next chapter of his life.

Plus, this time the game saved and the blacked out sim is not here. I am wondering if one of the quads glitched and borked that save. We lost nothing as I had just saved when Pop got out of graduation.

I had tried to use the Porter I had made, but it was non-functional. I came to this save only to grab their house, but found out that we are stuck trying to play them as is. The next world is the same as the Original Tarts. It’s all ready and Fudge’s spouses are already there, just in female form. I have not dragged their swapped versions out

The girls finally come home and they immediately head to their cakes.

Cherry: Soggy cake sucks!

The Others: Yeah!

Pineapple’s romantic interest Billie arrives and starts taking pics of celebrity children.

Tangy: Give me that cake! You weren’t invited!

Tangy is the first one with a makeover.

Razz went next.

She was followed by Lemon

Coming up last, is Cherry.

I have to say that I think all the kids this generation really hit the ugly tree. I really hope that the gender swap spouses do some toning down of these genetics in the future.

These four all resemble aliens.

During the birthdays Plum and Blackberry had some good wishes.

Blackberry won her game again. Before the crash last night, her team won 11-2, so this was a better blowout.

Are freaking kidding me?! Still, the game did not crash and since we had makeovers, I saved each of the quads to the bin and reloaded my game.

I replaced the teens even though Razz and Tangy still had their makeovers (because I saved after each one).

Lemon or Cherry was the glitch apparently, but after replacing them with copies, the save works fine. So far.

Plum does get his LTW completed again, but I’m too lazy to document it.

I’m going to keep going though. Fudge takes over in two days. If worse comes to worse, we just bail and leave the quads dumb asses behind. Anyway, I have saved 3 times in a row with no trouble, so I think we will be okay.

Razz celebrates this by breaking the tv.

Razz: Better the tv than the save file!

Everyone is home except Blackberry who is still at work and freezing. She got off work 2.5 hours prior to this moment.

Razz: Admit it, Lemon. You are the reason the save broke <thwack>

Lemon: It wasn’t me!

Blackberry sat on the prank that has been there for days. As you can see, Plum had just been directed to sit there to take it out.

Cherry: Why is everyone accusing me of killing the save? I’d rather just kill people!

HAHA! She sat down to eat and her carpool arrived.

Plum: I really would love some grandkids.

I have no clue where Lemon is, but she is having a nice chat with herself.

Right above them in the bathroom, Pineapple is brushing his teeth.

I wonder if the high school field trip was nearby.

Plum: It’s getting late! What if Fudge misses her cake and has her birthday alone in the dark? Oh no!

There is an easy remedy to this.

Plum: Everyone, it’s time to come home for cake!

Fudge: I think I’d rather chat on the computer.

The whole family celebrates the onset of Generation 2!

Then head outside to enjoy their last meal in Sugar Valley.

Then I saved the game and got my porter going, which shut down my game. <sigh> I think after this family hit generation 10, I’m quitting Sims 3 for good.

Today our new class got announced (you know who we're going to be in the class with because everyone either leaves school or gets into another class) and i got in the class with my BEST FRIEND. AHHH my god i thought i would never be in a class with her again and i thought everyone else would leave meee oh god. I'm soo relieved right now holy shit. Aaanyways. How has your day been? -honeybunch💫

i’m so happy for you that you got together in a class with your best friend!!! the first few days/weeks are a nightmare when you’re not close to anyone in your class (or only with one person and they happen to be sick) i speak from experience… okay but it’s my fault for switiching classes and basically transferring out of the class where all my friends are on my own will (i don’t regret it tho i really like the new peeps in my course atm

but anyway, my day was actually quite decent?? nothing much happened and aside the fact that i downloaded superstar smtown + bts and basically i do nothing else than playing those 2 games and i piss myself so hard at some normal levels that game is sO AGGRAVATING YET SO GOOD

Oh GOD. I distinctly remember in like, 2001 my best friend Jamie had the sims and was playing it one night while on the phone with me and cursing the genie lmao we had to have been like, 11? I think? And from that point I just SUPER wanted the game! I didn’t get to try my hand at it though until I was about 12, cos my neighbor had the game and I knew nothing about it and my poor dumb self bought my sim family a way too expensive house and they couldn’t even afford furniture and I was losing my mind LMAO Not long later, though, we owned the game and various expansions - I never DID get Makin’ Magic. I had a friend in high school who owned one of the expansions I was missing and I let her borrow pets AND THEN SHE NEVER RETURNED IT >:/ ANYWAY

To this day I remember being so frustrated that there were so few face options and that my babies-> children never got to grow up, but I LOVED making ski cabins and hotels for the vacation worlds and I was sooooo tickled by the Superstar pack!

Rock Band (2009-2012)

This game was a spin-off from the incredibly popular console game of the mid 2000′s. The game was self-explanitory, you basically just had to form a band and absolutely rock out to the computer generated crowd.

The game died because you couldn’t sing the songs, (I mean you could, but it wasn’t a feature of the game) and the app only blessed players with about 25 songs or so.... which isn’t impressive at all.

Skype (2003 - ???)

Skype was one of probably millions of communications apps available to iPhone and Android users. It was available on the PC since 2003, but did not become popular for mobile devices until around 2010.

Skype still exists, in the same way Blockbuster still exists. You couldn’t ever videochat with more than one person, and I think you were restricted to like 8 people in an audio-only call. Buy hey, at least Skype gave users the ability to call mobile phones and landlines. Great for prank calling!

Angry Birds (2009 - ???)

Another awesome app that came about right before the start of the 10s, Angry Birds was the game that everyone had on their iPod Touch devices.

Fun Fact: The game started around the Swine Flu epidemic, so the creators decided to use pigs as the enemies.

Technically the franchise of Angry Birds is still alive and thriving, but I promise you from the bottom of my modern heart that no person between the ages of 16-115 is playing this game. Time and place for everything.

Another one of those mobile games that’s technically still available, but I promise you that nobody in the world is playing it anymore.

Kik (2010-2019)

Ask any person my age about Kik, and they’ll tell you some crazy tales about groupchats and texting random strangers. Holy crap, this is probably one of the most legacy apps of the 10s. It was just like any other app, like AIM (which arguably is an app that shaped our childhoods, but only the older folks know about that one.)

Either way, I’m reviewing the Switch game everyone has seen on the Eshop but nobody was tempted to buy: Blaster Master Zero. As a reboot of a very obscure cult NES classic, it’s nice of course to see it land on the Nintendo Switch...and the 3DS. That isn’t too bad of an idea, but there will be a bit of a problem concerning that later. Either way, can this be considered a hidden gem of a reboot or is it too boring to be part of the franchise?

One thing that was strange about the original game was the story. It’s about Jason, who lost his pet frog because it fell into a hole. As he is about to leap into the hole, he finds a tank: Sophia the third and uses it to go on an adventure. Yes, this is the original game’s plot. However, the reboot explains a bunch of interesting post-apocalyptic facts of why Jason likes his pet frog so much and why Sophia is there. Aside from that and the fact that Jason finds Eve only to give her character development, the story is very basic in order to not get in the way of the gameplay. Every single bit of dialog can be skipped, which fits the NES game aesthetic very well. So no, the story isn’t anything special or too interesting. That’s all.

As one would expect from this game, the most important aspect has to be the gameplay. Most of the controls are the same as the NES game. Blaster Master Zero is essentially a mix between two types of gameplay: the first type being a 2-D section where you’ll have a big world divided into eight areas to explore (in the same style as Metroid/Castlevania/Duck Tales) with either SOPHIA or Jason and the second being overhead sections (just like The Legend Of Zelda) that pop up whenever Jason enters a cave. As for the first type of section, Inti Creates did everything they could to create a big interconnected world about the same size as the NES version. The only difference is that the way the levels are designed makes for a much longer experience compared to the NES version (about 10 hours). As for the controls, they're mostly the same as the NES game. That means aiming and shooting up-right and up-left is done with an awkward timing where you have to be super-precise while playing with SOPHIA. That was also in the NES game. As for the map, you have to find one in each area but each time you want to look at it, you have to press start and find it in the sub-menu. Unfortunately, this problem is also present in the 3DS version, where the second Screen isn't even used for the map. The Nintendo Switch version has a neat co-op mode, though. Speaking of things that you can find, there are plenty of caves hiding power-ups to help you progress through the game...as well as other caves that only have some health, gun, and bombs. Nothing else. It's a strange design choice that I find a bit frustrating.

As for the second type of sections where you play as Jason inside the caves, they’re a bit similar to the first Zelda game’s dungeon structure, although the caves are designed to feel more like an action game rather than a puzzle game. Those sections are always fun to play (although the aiming is still a bit awkward for some enemies), except for a single annoying issue: the only checkpoints present in these sections pop up before you fight a boss. If you’re in a cave without any bosses and you die, it’s back to the beginning of the section for you. Fortunately, most of the boss battles are well-designed and feel like they’re part of the Blaster Master universe. Too bad others are simply a wave of enemies coming after you all at the same time. As for the difficulty, most people will breeze through the game easily; mainly because there’s an exploit you can use to finish the game easily. It’s simply called ‘’the wave gun’’. Once you use it, you won’t have any problem finishing the game whatsoever. While I can understand the complaint linked to this exploit, so many games I liked had exploits, such as the Jett ability in Kirby Superstar or even the Fire Flower in New Super Mario Bros., so I don’t really care about it (although I wish Inti Creates would update it). Unfortunately, I didn’t know about it until I reached the end of the game, so I found the game frustratingly hard from time to time (thank god you can save anytime you want, though). Oh, and Jason is a bit too slow. The downloadable content is also pretty good and each character plays so differently that the 2 $ asking price is a bit of a steal...unless you got it for free like I did. Overall, I really liked Blaster Master Zero’s gameplay, although they are quite a few things that could have been improved.

As for the presentation, I find it interesting how the developer approached it. From the music to the graphical style to the in-game HUD, the Blaster Master Zero looks like it came out on NES. Well, maybe more on the Famicom because unlike the NES version of Blaster Master that radically changed the art style to appeal more to an ‘’international’’ audience, this game has a very ‘’90’s anime’’ art style. I’m fine with this change because Jason looked generic as all hell on an American NES. But yeah, this game has great music, great detailed 8-bit graphics, great enemy designs, and great boss designs. The only other thing I can mention is that the Nintendo Switch version has amazing (optional) HD rumble implementation that makes the experience so much more immersive. Overall, the presentation is great. The end.

Overall, I think Blaster Master Zero is a very good successor to a great NES game because of the presentation and some gameplay aspects, but still has a few flaws because of other gameplay aspects and its story.
