Gods above and below. How long had it been since Gladio had been amongst a royal council? He felt out of place and hot under the collar, dressed to the nines in a way that was uncomfortable to him. It wasn’t so much him being a Shield, today. That name had come and faded in the time of peace. Today he was Lord Amicitia and that felt wrong and too formal too.

But, when he looked upon his King. In all his might... Gladio felt pride. Someone who had surpassed death itself for another chance. Someone who ruled, maybe not with a stern certainty as time hadn’t passed long enough for that. But, you could see the gentle heart behind his choices. 

He was really doing incredibly.

Still, Gladio breathed a sigh of relief when they broke for a moment to stretch their legs, for drinks to be replenished and the advisors to chit chat. Gladio went straight into the hall to breathe. For him. This felt like a mistake. While he was intelligent, he’d spent so much time away that hearing a royal court back in session was dizzying.

He hadn’t noticed the King of all people follow him out. A few people had, after all. He just needed to breathe.

“Can I kiss you?”

There were people around. Important people. If he allowed it, they’d have to speak about their arrangement. The thing Gladio had been avoiding with any excuse in the book he could find, any little distraction.

And yet.

FFXV’s timer runs even in cutscenes and on pause so you can substract a few hours from your displayed playing time tbh

        She  already  felt  as  if  laying  on  a  cloud.  It’s  not  everyday  the  King  asks  you  to  dinner,  and  the  surrealism  of  it  all  hadn’t  registered  yet  in  her  head.  She  had  spent  the  whole  time  telling  him  stories  of  her  world,  as  everything  had  started  like  that,  and  had  forgotten  for  minutes  at  a  time  that  the  man  listening  to  it  all  was  of  Royal   status.  Sometimes  she  looked  around,  and  marvelled  at  the  sight  of  the  empty  restaurant  around  them  (  oh,  the  great  things  power  can  do  )        There  were  members  of  the  guard  standing  on  all  the  doors,  and  for  some  reason  that  had  been  bothering  Serah  all  night.  She  felt  trapped,  too  close  to  her  memories  to  be  fully  comfortable.  But  an  idea  came  to  mind,  one  that  would’ve  been  shot  down  by  Lightning  but  that  she  thought  the  King  would  like.                    “  Let’s  make  a  plan  and  escape.  I  bet  we  can  handle  ourselves  around  the  city.  ”    her  tone  was  excited,  her  eyes  glimmered  both  with  malice  and  innocence,  and  the  dinner  was  already  over,  but  she  didn’t  want  to  say  goodbye.

The night that they’d shared had indeed been... Well, interesting. It brought light to something new that Gladio wasn’t sure had been inside him before. Maybe it was repressed. Or...something. Regardless, it had been enjoyable and he kept coming back for, revolving around and keeping close to the King like he were the Sun itself.

The thing about texts was that once you read it, there really was no sense in deleting them even if the person did ask. It was already up there in your memory and far too late to just brush off. His face, heated up and yet–... he felt cold at the same time.

Maybe it wasn’t about him. Maybe Noct’ had found someone worthwhile.  Fat chance. Did Prompto know much?
