tbh most of the meat so many people eat now isn't ethically sourced. the intensive farming industry is disgustingly abusive and awful. the way they treat the animals would make anyone feel sick to their stomach. lots of people draw the line at consent, humans are capable of consent in a way that animals aren't, and 99% of humans wouldn't consent to being eaten. but also, if animals could, would they? there's another side of the debate about moral relevance and personhood in general surrounding meat vs. human meat, what makes one beings life more valuable is the capacity and closeness to personhood. It's actually very interesting as a debate.
